PMString turning null on Mac

Hi
I am developing a plug-in on Mac OS (10.5.8) using the InDesign CS4 SDK and for some reason, in my plugin project whenever i use a PMString, and assign value to it, it turns "nil". I am wondering if there is something in the project settings etc. that needs to be setup to fix this issue?
As an example, i use the following code to popup a saveFile dialog and get the file path into a PMString. (the SDKFileSaveChooser is part of the SDK)
    SDKFileSaveChooser SaveDlg;
    SaveDlg.ShowDialog();
    //save the document to disk
    PMString szFile(SaveDlg.GetPath());
    At this point, my PMString file has value nil when i look at it in the debugger.
PS: same code  that I created on windows works fine without any issue. I am able to get the filePath back without any issue.
thanks
Sameer

the new displays can power up your desktop. it will only work if you plug in the firewire/usb cables from your monitor to your desktop, then go into the system prefs>displays and choose how you want the monitor button to behave. that option won't appear in the system prefs if you just have the dvi cable plugged in and not the firewire/usb cables

  • In the new OS Yosemite, why is there a loading bar each time i turn on my mac?

    I got the OS Yosemite 2 days ago, and i noticed something new. Each time i turn on my mac, there is a loading bar at the bottom of the screen after i enter my password. It takes like 20 seconds to load, but it can be quite annoying. Anyone else have this problem? ( i have the macbook pro 15 inch, mid 2014 )

    Open Security preferences and be sure the option requiring a password is unchecked. Or open Accounts preferences, click lock icon and authenticate, click on Login Options button and configure your account for Auto-login.

  • My finder wont open when i turn on my mac.

    I would simply turn on my Mac, but Finder wont open and it wont let me open other apps, the only thing that opens up is Safari, other than that i cant open anything else! I don't know whats wrong.

    You may want to run these "standard" fixes if the problem persists.
    1) Check the amount of free space on your harddrive.  You should have a several gigs free.
    2) You should run disk utility
          Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
          a) verify the disk
          b) update your permissions.
    3) Try a safe boot.
         Shutdown your machine.  Hold down the shift key.  Poweron.  Wait awhile; wait awhile while you harddrive
         is being checked.

    4) Another way to correct filesystem problems is into single use mode.
         This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
         http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492
        Basically, you hold down the command + s key then  powering on your machine. The command key
        has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar.
    4) You may want to run applejack to clean up your machine.

    6) Run hardware diagnostics.  It's good for a sanity check.

  • Why can't I turn find my mac on?

    I tried to turn on "Find my Mac" via the system preferences and I got an alert stating "Some configurations, such as software or hardware RAID, do not support a recover partitioned and cant be used with Find my Mac"
    Why am I getting this message and what do I need to do to solve the problem and turn Find my Mac on?
    I have 3 partitions on my hard drive, HFS for my OSX files, NTFS for bootcamp and a FAT for transferring stuff between the 2. Not sure if this is what the error message is getting at, if it is I still have no idea why?
    Thanks in advance

    That suggests installing Lion Recovery update, which then presents me with another error. See this disscussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/17882273#17882273.
    Does anyone know if there is any other way to fix "Find my Mac" ?

  • What does it mean when I turn on my mac there is a file on the screen and it won't turn on?

    What does it mean when I turn on my mac and a picture of a file comes up and it won't turn on? I hold the button and turn it off and try again and sometimes it goes on and other times the file comes back on.... do I have a virus? What should I do?

    No, you don't have a virus, but if that folder has a flashing '?', it means your Mac can't find its' system:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440
    or, other possible causes:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
    Take a look at those and see if any of those suggestions help.

  • When turning on my mac all i get is the 1st screen it will not load to the next screen for log in pls help

    When turning on my mac I get the first white screen with the apple logo but it will not load to the next login screen

    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there.

  • How to disable previously opened and closed apps from opening up again when turning on my mac?

    Since I started using Lion every time I turn on my mac all applications open, how can I prevent this from happening?

    Yes. Usually it's Microsoft taking ideas from Apple. Nice to see the opposite for a change.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files
    The idea that users don't need to access their Library folder is preposterous if they own the computer. When trying fix an issue, for example fully remove Firefox, or any number of things, why add a step? This is tantamount to if Apple had hidden the Extensions Manager (not saying they DID, but if they HAD). Why hide the Library? Why hide /etc? The more people learn about their systems, the less problems in the long run. Not that I'm trying to put myself out of work, bless their lazy, black little hearts, users keep me on the gravy train, however the number of issues avoided would out weigh the potential issues.
    Regardless, my apologies to the original poster for the threadjack, the image above is useless. Chmod as linked seems to work just fine, though it won't get rid of that idiotic "do you want to open everything again on reboot" check box.

  • 10.5.3 can't turn off my mac and programs get stuck

    I've installed the latest OS X Leopard update (10.5.3) and since then I'm having serious problems with my Macbook Pro. The iMac of my girlfriend has the update as well but everything is working fine there.
    Problem 1: Can't turn off my mac
    When I want to turn off my mac I end up with my background and a little spinning wheel. This goes on forever, it seems my mac gets stuck at that point.
    Problem 2: Programs get stuck
    Since 10.5.3 programs get stuck much faster and when they do Force Quit doesn't work anymore. The program gets stuck and restarting the program can't be done.
    Affected programs: Mail, Safari, Camino, NewsFire, Dock
    Does anyone has the same problems or does anyone knows what's going on?
    My Macbook Pro:
    MacBook Pro 15"
    Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz
    2 GB RAM

    HI Guust - yeah having a similar problem with an application freezing, although it is just Photoshop CS2 and I can force quite after 2 goes though!! I hope you get a result from this forum - I have been a mac user for 12 years plus and yes there were always problems with updates but never quite as dramatic as this and there were normally fairly easy solutions!
    GOOD LUCK!

    Hi Linda,
    Unplugging it from AC power will drain the PRAM Battery in short order, thereby losing setting, like Monitor resolution.
    You can test the Pram Battery by disconnecting from the Internet so Date/Time doesn't update before you see it, shutdown, unplug AC for a bit, startup & check Time.
    In Sys Pefs>Displays, can you set the resolution?

    What kind of videos are you watching?
    You need to force quit Safari, but hitting Command-option-esc, and force quit Safari.
