PNY Verto GeForce 4 MX 440 Problems

I just installed the Verto GeForce4 MX 440 Graphics card into my system.
Since I did this, my bootup has been about 3 times slower than usual and I have been getting some unusual things happening while working in my OS. (Lockups, frozen graphics, and such... things similar to what u get with driver conflicts)
While the computer is booting up, the screen (like the splash screen) and hard drive lock up for seconds at a time. The screen will finally flicker and the hard drive will begin again.
It does this several times while its booting up. These pauses make the bootup take much much longer than usual and I feel like its some sort of conflict between the on-board video and the new video card I installed.
I cant find an option in the BIOS to disable the on-board video permanently.
Can anyone help solve this problem?

Well, since you haven't provided us with your system spec's then I would be guessing.
I guess you have the K7N420 Nforce mobo since you are in the Nvidia/AMD/SiS SocketA forum.
I have no Idea what OS you are using.
Power Supply combined power, although I don't see that right now.
What Hard drive and memory...etc?
See my signature for an example.
If you ARE using the Nforce, there are no settings in the BIOS to disable. Once you put a card in the AGP slot it automatically disables the Onboard.
try removing it and going back to the onboard and tell us what happens then.

I'm running a system with a geforce 4 440mx in it.  Currently the only way i can make it work is to have the video driver set to standard vga.  when I install the drivers from the Nvidia website the screen goes black.  I recently shipped my computer and it appears to have been physically jarred.  I've tried removing and reinstalling the card as well as reinstalling the video drivers.  Any suggestions?

I just got the 6800 and put it in today.  Everything set up fine and the first game I ran was NBA LIVE 2005 which had jagged edges so I turned on the AA/AF to 4x and 16x, that solved the jagged problem but the team logos now appear blurry.  The second game I tried was DOOM 3 and boy oh boy was it a disappointment, it was extremely laggy even on 1024 setting!!  The third game was NFSU 2 which was smooth but I'm not quite sure that the sky and concrete are supposed to be blocky squares, any ideas?  I am having lots of trouble.
I tried AGP fast writes off and auto in the bios, no difference.
Any solutions or suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

  • TV IN/OUT with Geforce 4 MX-440 VTD8X

I have a problem with my Geforce 4 MX-440 VTD8X. I bought it to replace an Geforce 4 MX-440. (Needed dual monitor support).  With the card is a TV IN/OUT connector.  I am not able to get TV out to work with my new card.  It does not even detect my TV.  I'm not sure if the connector is faulty or if there is something else wrong.  I have used several different drivers including the ones that came with my card as well as new ones I downloaded.  Neither allow me to use TV in / out.  If any one knows the answer please help!!  Thanks.

How did you uninstall the drivers? If you only went into Add/Remove Programs that isn't a clean uninstall...follow these instructions when changing drivers around to ensure you've cleaned them all off before installing new ones...
    Clean Driver Install

  • MS-6366 AGP w/ Geforce 4 MX 440

i have an msi ms-6366 mobo and i just recently got a geforce 4 mx 440 8x agp 128mb card. now my mobo supports 4x and the card will support 1x, 2x, 4x, & 8x agp slots. when i put it in it works fine but is saying my card is only 64mb. i talked to a person about changing the bios settings to 128mb agp aperture and i was wondering if that will work or could it be a different problem.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Aaron,
If your card has 128Mb of RAM it is not going to show anything about the amount of RAM on your Vid Card in your BIOS. It is only going to show the default apeture size for the AGP slot, which is 64Mb.

  • K7T266 Pro2 with GeForce 4 MX 440

I recently upgraded from a VooDoo4500 PCI graphics card to the GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP card.  I have read in message board posts that this GeForce card may not be compatible with my K7T266 (MS 6380) motherboard.  I had difficulty in getting the new card installed, having never used an AGP card I was not familiar with what all needed to be done.  I figured I had to change the "Primary Display Adapter" from PCI to AGP and did that.  The card has been installed and the other one removed along with the old drivers.  Part of the time I expreience no problems, games run fine and computer boots fine.
However, the other half of the time I cannot get the system to boot up until after 5 or 6 attempts, especially following a lockup that didnt enable me to Ctrl+alt+del.   What usually occurs is the monitor doesnt turn on and I get a series of beeps and LED's.  The beeps are 2, 8, 2, 1.  The LED's light up 3 red with a green in the bottom right corner I believe.  If I then power off the computer and boot again that may happen another time or I may experience the bootup hanging on "Checking NVRAM" or a bizarre lookinf black screen with random dots of different colors on it.  At which point I power down and attempt to restart.  Eventually the machine will boot, more often than not offering the option of starting in safe mode.
Steps I have done so far:
-updated VIA 4in1 drivers and AGP drivers
-downloaded latest drivers for the video card
-moved some PCI devices around in order to get the AGP card to share an IRQ with only "ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ steering"
-searched for all old 3dfx drivers and removed them as well as removing old card from device manager in safe mode
-set primarly display adapter in BIOS to AGP instead of PCI
What I need to know is if this is a known conflict issue between this motherboard and video card or if it is a situation that can be fixed.  If anyone could point me in the direction of some documentation on this matter I would be quite gratefu.  If nothing can be done I will return the video card for a different one, of course preferring not to if this can be resolved.  If anyone can suggest a comparable card that is known to work with my motherboard it would be most helpful in case I do need to return this one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have gotten no word back from the tech support for the video card.  If I have to take back the card and get another one I have to do that within a certain time frame.
    Thank you for your time.

I had the same combination & problem.  I RMA'ed the motherboard to MSI.  They made modifications to the board and sent it back.  Video card worked.  I recommend getting a TI series card.  I got rid of my GF4mx440 & got a TI4200.  Well worth it.

  • Msi 6528 and Geforce 4 mx 440 or hdd 80 Gb??

    Hi people,
I've a terrible trouble: I've bought a Msi 6528 le with 512 sdram and an IBm 80 Gb hdd and a new asus geforce 4 mx 440. The system doesn't work and crashes or befor the os strt up or also in the bios mode. Sometimes appears on the black screen "Scan out of Range". What does it mean? Do you know about some incompatibility of any of each hardware pieces?
    Please help me!

Sounds like a BIOS problem. Try selecting 'default settings' in BIOS to start with and take it on from there. What is your OS?  Check all installations especially with your HDD/jumper setting- pins 1 & 2 and 7 & 8 positions for 16 Logical Head settings ( Device 0- Master ).
Your AGP card has to be 'enabled' in BIOS as well.
Check the other installed hardware like CD-ROM and CD-RW ect. Your PCI Cards as well.
If this does not work, then try the 'minimum' installation with just the HDD and Graphics card and see if you can boot to windows. I take t that your HDD is brand new with no data on it?
    Good luck!

Hi. I got this weird problem that keeps occuring to me. I installed a new GeForce 4 MX 440 to my new KT4 Ultra motherboard with an AMD 2600+ CPU and 512 MB DDR memory. I see that it has an error that reads, "This Device Cannot Start (Code 10)" I've downloaded the newest drivers for the card and installed them but when I restarted Windows XP, I get the same error. • MS6330 v3.0 & PNY Verto Ti4400 probs??

    System Specs:
    K7T Turbo (MS6330 v3.0) (present BIOS = v3.5)
    Athlon XP 1800+
    PNY Verto GF4 Ti4400
    512Mb PC133 (2 x 256)
    Q-Tec 550W (285W combined)
    Problem:
With specs as above, system is booted up and all thats displayed on monitor is white screen/lines/artifacts (a general mess). Sometimes it may bootup normally (BIOS info, DOS etc etc and on into Windows displayed normally), but rarely happens and usually after countless reboots.
The GF4 has been proven to work, on one occasion I had system running for 2 days straight, playing games, testing, benchmarking (9428 3D Marks) until I decided to reboot system, the problem reared its ugly head and I gave up after 10 reboots.
This card is actually a replacement of original with which I had the same problem. It just seems unlikely (not impossible) that I received 2 dud cards.
Is anyone else having similar problems? and what can be done if its a compatibility problem? (seems unlikely  but  I can't see what else could pose a problem)
    PHEW!.......help!

    Hi,
As a CPU-cooler is in fact a rotating motor, it can give spikes on the cooler-wires.
Because the BIOS reads the rotations, but with spikes on there it can get mixed-up and give all sorts of problems.
This can happen to any type/brand of cooler, that is why I want you to try another one.
Then you are sure if this is the case or not.

  • MSI GeForce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8X - No Dual Display?

Hello! I have just purchased the MSI MX440-VTD8X  based on GeForce 4 MX 440 with AGP 8X. I have the latest drivers and everything but I’m unable to enable the clone option to have pictures on both my monitor and my TV. The option is grayed out. The TV connection is correctly connected. I can choose my TV as the primary display, it’s just that I cannot have dual display! Isn’t my card supposed to have this option? Here is a pic:

A previous poster (in a different thread) found that if the video card has both analog and digital monitor outputs, then for TV-out to function properly with the VIVO 4-port adapater, you need to connect your analog monitor to the digital output using the supplied digital-to-analog converter.
I have a new G4 MX440 VTD8X and had a similar issue to the one described here....the TV could not be detected by the video card when connected via RCA jacks (S-video worked, but could not CLONE the monitor).  I moved my primary monitor from the analog to the digital port, and viola, the TV out functions perfectly now. :D

  • Geforce 4 mx 440 dual display - mandrake 9.0

    [size=11]
I am wanting to switch my workstation from Windows 2000 to Linux Mandrake 9.0. Anyone tell me if all of the TV in/out and dual display stuff will work under Mandrake 9? It is the GeForce 4 MX 440 with the dual VGA out and the s-video input/output connections. The main concern is the dual display. Let me know at [email protected] or post here. Thanks for the help!

  • Nvdia Geforce 4 mx 440 Video Card

I have a MSI Geforce 4 MX 440 AGP 4x Video card and when i install the drivers and reboot i have 2 features (MSI Clock and MSI Information) that show up right by my settings icon in display properties.  When i click on those i get a dont send or send error.  What is doin this

    cjms,
Since my crystal ball is still in the shop and you really did not give me any information on your system, I am going to resort to guessing.
I am going to guess, you at one time loaded the MSI drivers and then you switched to the nVidia Drivers.
Even if you did not load the nVidia Drivers - go download them from the nVidia Website and install them.  Then go in to your windows directory and delete the file msicpl.dll
    For the extra features:
Use notepad to make a new file and put in it what I quoted below and then save it with the .reg extension.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
Double Click on it and it will make an entry into your registry.
That will open all the extra options in the Detonator4 Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GF4.

  • K7N2 and msi gforce 4mx 440 problem

Well, I have an MSI K7N2 Motherboard (with Nforce 2 chipset), Athon XP 2400+, and
MSI StarForce GForce 4 MX 440 64mb DDR, it works ok, but there is something that keeps
my attention, when the machine starts, no Legend about the VGA CARD is shown, like
GeForce 4 MX 400 Card, or something like that, all the cards I know do that, but this not,
I`ve changed my card (other =), but I still have the same problem, can anybody help me?????

In my evperience, the ATI cards do not seem to show a bios flash screen, I've been told by a system builder that it has something to do with the delay sending a signal to the monitor???, anyways, my old system running a Radeon 8500 never showed a vga bios screen, and the same card did not show one on my K7N2-Delta board either.  But 3 different nVidia cards all show a VGA bios upon boot (gf4 Ti4200, gf2 mx400, and gf2 ultra).  Either way, as long as your card is working, don't wory about it.

  • KT4 Ultra and a PNY GF2 TI 64 meg power problem

    Okay here is my problem...
    I have a KT4 Ultra with athlon 2400+ and 512 of 333mhz 2700 DDR Ram.
I also have a True430 430 watt psu from antec.
I installed the motherboard and proc and everything else fine.  Stick in the PNY geforce 2 TI 64 meg card in.  Plug power cord in and hit the powr button nothing..
I know I have all the power connections hooked up corretly.
So I get a TNT 2 M64 and pop it in and the machine boots up fine and I can do everything normal.. any ideas??!?!

Did the PSU even start and the fan spins? Or it's a totally DEAD machine?
    This could either be
    1. the card is 3.3V/1.5V and the board refuse to run with it.
    2. the card when slotted in has shorted some part of the casing.
We can't do anything if this is an incompatibility issue. My last suggestion would be - change the display card or the motherboard.
