Podcast keeps reappearing in itunes

I have a podcast that just won't die.
I delete it from the itunes window. I've removed it from the Library folders. I've unsubscribed. It keeps reappearing after a day or so.
Any ideas?

Your category might not be wrong, but there are a few other problems in your feed that could be causing your problems. I'd suggest trying to fix these and see if that solves your problem. There is a possibility that the iTunes staff removed your podcast if the feed was invalid and/or it hasn't been updated in a long time. If you can't find your podcast by searching it may have been removed or it's lost. You might have some luck finding it if you have subscribed to your own podcast in the past through iTunes, you can bring up iTunes, click on your podcast section and click the -> next to the title of your podcast. It should bring up your podcast's itunes directory page.
If it has been removed, my only suggestion would be to fix the problems in your feed and then re-submit the podcast.

  • Why do my podcasts keep disappearing from iTunes?

So I subscribe to a few podcasts, and I've noticed that since the update only the 10 most recent episodes are staying on my computer. The old episodes are still available in my iCloud but I have to waste internet redownloading them, and even when I do that they still seem to disappear. Any idea on how to stop iCloud from messing with my podcasts, or even better turn it off from iTunes entirely?

Same problem. I am a daily Podcasts listener, and podcasts that worked the day before will literally not work the next day.  All the podcasts on my iphone will suddenly be broken. This keeps happening to me, and it's most glaring when I try to resume listening to an episode I listened to half of on the previous day. I suddenly get the error message:
Episode Unavailable: "This episode is temporarily unavailable from [Podcast name]
This started when I got the new Iphone 5s (iOS7) and was forced to switch to using the Podcasts app outside of the Music app.  And now it's happening constantly to my regular podcasts. The listened to status is also sometimes wrong. Podcasts I've already listened to, and in some cases deleted, will show up again as fresh downloads.
I have to remove the corrupted podcasts one by one and download them again manually.
RIDICULOUS and UNUSABLE. This Podcasts app does not work.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Song appears in itunes, delete but keeps reappearing

song appears in itunes, delete but keeps reappearing. the song is youth from foxes downloaded from the itunes store for free , even though i delete it from either the ipod 5th generation itself or if i connect it to itunes and delete it from their every time i delete it , it will reappear in itunes if a resync. and theirs two copies of it idk why. i want to delete the song from itunes, i know the song will keep appearing on the ipod because of apples stupid idea trying to make me redownload it. the songs are both shaded in grey. solution plss

Best route here is to focus initially solely on the iTunes Library.  Once it has all the Songs that you want, turn off iTunes Match, sign out of iTunes Store and restart the computer from cold.
Moving to the iPhone would suggest a restore and fresh link to the library post the following steps.
    1.  Sign in to iTunes Store;
    2.  Turn on iTunes Match - allow 3-step process to run to completion;
    3.  Make secure backup of library;
    4.  Force iPhone in to restore mode - hold down 'power on/off' with 'home key' for 10 seconds
    5.  Attach iPhone via USB to computer and follow 'restore' instructions in iTunes
    6.  Once complete synchronise with library as required
At this stage all required Songs should be on the iPhone - post iPhone back-up a good point to fully enable iTunes Match on the iPhone if required.

  • Podcasts keep coming back after I delete them!

    Greetings,
I have an iPhone 3Gs (running OS 3.0, of course). I have checked "Manually manage music and videos" in iTunes 8.2 (23). The problem is that podcast episodes I have already listened to and deleted on the iPhone itself keep reappearing there every time I manually drag ANY episode -- even if it's an entirely different podcast -- to the iPhone in iTunes.
I've tried unchecking the no-longer-needed episodes in iTunes (not that that should matter, since I'm manually managing everything), and even DELETING them from iTunes altogether. Doesn't matter. They still magically reappear on my iPhone!
When I drag a podcast episode to the iPhone in iTunes, the status message first says "copying 1 of 1: [name-of-podcast]." Then, briefly it says "Syncing iPhone..." I'm guessing that maybe it's in this last part where some cached copy (?) is getting re-sent. Or maybe it didn't really get deleted from the iPhone when I swiped it and clicked Delete?? I dunno...
This is very annoying as it's difficult to remember which ones I've already listened to and which ones I haven't, when none of them will go away.
Anyone else experiencing this? Known bug?? Fixes???
    Thanks!
    DM
EDIT: I just realized something else: the episodes that reappear on the iPhone appear to be phantoms. If I actually tap one, the list screen slides to the left to reveal the play screen, but for only a moment; then it slides right back. So the episode isn't really there. Seems to be a problem with the iPhone's management of its podcast lists.

    A new observation:
After deleting the podcasts on the phone itself (by swiping the title and then tapping the Delete button that appears), I connect the phone to my computer and launch iTunes. Under "Devices:iPhone" I click "Podcasts" and it shows the list of podcasts that iTunes thinks are still on the phone. The ones I deleted still show up in that list. This would explain why they reappear on the phone's list after I drag new podcasts into it from iTunes. But again, they're not really there. They're just in the list.
So, it seems that the only way to completely rid the phone's podcast list of the ones I delete from the phone is to also manually delete those entries +*from iTunes*+ the next time I connect.
Anyone have any idea if Apple is aware of this??

  • Mystery Podcasts Keep Showing Up in Smart Playlists

I use Smart Playlists to listen to Podcasts on my iPod Shuffles. It worked fine literally for years, but recently something changed.
Now when I make a Smart Playlist (I enter "Media Kind is Podcast")I get all my newly downloaded Podcasts, but I also get a list of about 50 podcasts that I deleted a long time ago. They are marked in the Smart Playlist as unavailable - iTunes says that it doesn't know where these Podcasts are located.
The problem is that they really don't exist at all. The original files are gone. They don't show up in Itunes (of course). They are also nowhere on my computer. I've done manual searches - looking through hundreds of folders where they might be located. I've also used the Windows Explorer Search feature to try to locate these files. They simply aren't anywhere on any of my hard drives. Therefore, I can't tell iTunes where they are located and I can't delete them. I can't delete them because they have already been deleted.
Yet, there is a reference to them in my iTunes library database file. There must be, or why would they keep showing up in a Smart Playlist? This is a real problem for me because it means I can't use Smart Playlists for my podcasts anymore.
Can anyone suggest a way to remove these podcast filenams from the iTunes database?
    Thanks!
    Doug

    Hi, Katrina.
I just wanted to report back on what happened.
I created a new Smart Playlist with the parameters "Media Kind is Podcast", and just like always, I got a list of all my curent podcasts plus about fifty or so of these phantom podcasts.
I selected one of these phantom podcasts and tried Alt-Delete, but that didn't do anything. Just hitting Delete didn't do anything either. Nor did Ctrl-Delete. However, Shift-Delete worked like a charm. I got this message:
"Are you sure you want to remove the selected podcast from your iTunes library? This podcast will also be removed from any iPod or iPhone which synchronizes with your iTunes library."
I clicked on the "Remove" button (my options were "Remove" and "Cancel"). The podcast name vanished from the playlist and apparently it was also removed from the library database, because when I created another podcast Smart Playlist, that phantom podcast did not reappear.
I then went through the entire Smart Playlist and selected all of the phantom podcasts. I hit shift-delete, clicked on "Remove" and they all vanished and none of them returned. My Smart Playlists are back to normal and the problem is gone.
Apparently, Shift-Delete is the command for deleting podcasts (and songs, I assume) directly from a playlist. This works even if the orignal file has already been deleted and the listing is just a phantom listing in the database.
Whether Shift-Delete to delete directly from a playlist works on all computers, I don't know. It certainly worked on mine, which is a PC.
    Thanks again, Katrina!

  • Deleted Podcasts keep being downloaded again, and again, and again

iTunes seems to want me to keep listening to old podcasts.
Since the last update, old, long-deleted podcasts keep being re-downloaded as new whenever the podcasts are refreshed (either manually or automatically). I spend a good 15 minutes going through and deleting them. Later that day, iTunes downloads all of them again.
I've had this program in the past but it was working alright for awhile. Now, since the last update of iTunes, it is back.
A recurring theme with iTunes in particular and Apple OS in general that updates tend to bring back problems that were fixed previously.
Can we just get this to work? I don't have time to keep re-deleting this and iTunes wants to download far more old podcasts than I have room for on my iPhone.

    Rebuild your Mail index:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file.
    3. Restart Mail and wait for it to import your existing messages. When it's done, your emails should be back to normal again.

  • Podcasts keep synching even when podcasts aren't selected to sync

    Help?
I have podcasts in my iTunes that I have checked, so I can listen to them on my iPhone, BUT they keep synching with my 80gig iPod even though I have unchecked "sync podcasts" in the tabs when my iPod syncs.
I restored my iPod and it keeps happening. I'm guessing that somehow these podcasts are in one of my nearly 100 playlists. However, shouldn't unchecking "sync podcasts" override them from being synched even if they are in a playlist? It used to until the last two iTunes updates.

Er...it says the question is answered, but there's only one post in the thread...
This is my first post, so let me know if I'm missing something...sorry, thanks!
Anyhow, I'm having precisely the same problem - 80Gb iPod and 8Gb iPhone 3g.
My podcasts keep syncing to my iPod, even though I've unchecked sync podcasts. (I've currently got 'sync all unplayed episodes', but I've still got the same problem of getting everything on the iPod.)

I am having the same problem...I have changed my password twice...all my apple devices accept the new password except iTunes...the drop down keeps asking for my password.

  • Podcasts stop updating in itunes 12

Recently I have had to manually keep updating my list of podcasts to get new episodes to download. Even when I use the refresh button it will not show new episodes even if new episodes are available, I have to right-click on each podcast and "View in iTunes" to retrieve new episodes.
I understand that podcasts will stop updating after 5 unplayed episodes but does that mean 5 total? Or per podcast? I usually update once a week and listen to around 7 different podcasts so some of these will have a couple unplayed every week before I mark them as played. (I listen on my iPod classic, not sure if this is relevant)
How do I ensure that my iTunes keeps updating the podcasts without using that external script I have seen circulating?
When iTunes 12 was first released all of my podcasts seemed to update with successful regularity. The past couple weeks it hasn't refreshed podcasts successfully at all.
    Any ideas?

Pretty much the same problem here. Podcasts are set to update every hour. For some reason in iTunes 11 it would not work at all. Updating to 12.0.1. seemed to fix the problem...at least for a month or so. Now it will not update podcasts, even manually. At the current time, I have to mount each podcast in iTunes Store, look to find new episodes, and try to download them that way -- so far the success rate on that is 75%, compared to 0% when using the Refresh button or manually right-clicking and selecting "Refresh Podcast".
With the number of podcasts in my queue, it's not very practical to mount each one in the Store (some would have to be done daily). I have no "unplayed episode" issue to worry about (I listen to them all -- being accidentally retired makes that easy to deal with).

  • Podcasts keep coming back

    Any experience the following?
I have noticed that some of my podcass after i have listened to them they appear as listened on my iPOD and then when I sync in iTunes, it will then reset the pay to when I look on my iPod it shows it never been listened too,
What bugs me is it is random, and drive me a little crazy.

  • How Long does it take for a NEW PODCAST to appear in iTunes?

I was curious if maybe you know the answer to this question- How long does it take for a brand new podcast, once submitted to iTunes, to appear in the podcast section of iTunes? Does it really take 5 days? And, will I receive an email once it's on there? Thanks!
    -hdtvguru

    Hi,
I found the answer to this question after doing two podcasts.
It takes about week and half to be fully listed. When you first submit you receive an automated email. Emailed to the email address of your podcast feed. Then your podcast page is created for itune store and you receive another email that it's approved. You should receive this email sometimes two days after you received the first but it still won't be browse able until another few weeks(ie. listed in category). In the mean time don't remove your podcast feed file from your hosting account and don't make changes which will change the link to the feed you submitted.
The only other part I couldn't figure out was why podcasts episodes don't come up when keywords from episode sections of podcast feed are typed in itune search box.

  • HT204003 how do I permanently delete a pass from my passbook account? (It keeps reappearing after being deleted.)

I have a pass in passbook that keeps reappearing after being deleted. It pops up (location sensitive) despite the fact that I have disabled the location services, repeatedly. I need to permanently delete it.

    Hi, sophiaskoub.
Thank you for the question.  The most common cause for this is having Automatic Downloads enabled on the secondary computer.  See the first article on how to disable this feature.  The other attached articles cover how to delete media from iTunes and hiding any purchases that have been made.

  • How can I remove Podcasts downloaded directly into the I-Phone from the phone and I Tunes, right now every time I sync the two old podcasts keep coming back

I have downloaded 2 podcasts directly to my iPhone over WIFI, the problem is that I cannot get rid of these two podcasts. Every time I sync with my computer these two old podcasts keep coming back. Is there a way to erase them from the phone?

I had this issue with my iPhone - drove me nuts. Tried everything.
It appears to be an issue with a persistent file in the Purchases folder in the iPhone/iPad directory, which I could only access with a file browsing utility (iBrowse). Once installed you can browse to the Purchases folder and delete all the entries.
Check the box in iTunes to Manually Manage Music and then delete the grey U2 tracks.
    Sync and they'll be gone
    Fixed!
