How to read data from PC format external disk, using Labview MAC
Hi folks,
For years I have not been able to read data files from a PC formatted (created) external disk, using Labview for Mac. More specifically:
- I have Labview 7.01 running on OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4
- I have a 500GB external USB/firewire disk that was formatted on a PC and has data files (custom format) that were created on the PC. I believe that C code actually creates the files, but Labview 7/PC opens the files and appends some info (I don't think the fact that C or Labview touches the files is actually relevant to this issue though).
- I can connect the 500 GB disk to my mac, and it will mount just fine and OS X can see all of the data files (and anything else on the disk).
- if I use my Labview app to open and read a data file it fails:
- open/create/replace.vi (with read-only access) shows a file dialog window that lets me navigate to any file on the external disk.
- but, the vi returns an error 7
- if I use OS X to copy the data file to my Mac disk, my Labview app works fine.
So, does anyone know if:
- I'm just doing something wrong in my Mac Labview app?
- Labview 7.x solves this problem?
- Labview 8/Mac solves this problem?
- OS X 10.5 solves this problem; with Labview 7 or 8; or does OS X 10.5 worsen the problem?
Thanks, in advance...Hi kehander,
Thanks for the reply. I tried filling a constant path with the Mac-defined path to a data file on the USB disk (ie "DATA2:file1.dat"). This resulted in the same error message.
I then considered that maybe I was misinterpreting the LV error message, and that perhaps I was supposed to address the file using PC-notation (ie. "DATA2\file1.dat"), even though the app is running on a Mac. No joy with this, but I get a different error msg:
"Error 1430 occurred at Open File
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: The path is empty or relative. You must use an absolute path."
Can you share what your reasoning was for your suggestion... I'm not sure I understand why a constant path would produce different results? -
How to read data in correct format from EXCEL file into an internal table??
Hi Experts,
My requirement is to upload data from an excel file on presentation server into an internal table on <b>SRM</b> server.
I used 'GUI_UPLOAD' function module to achieve the same but all the the data is getting uploaded in # only.I had set in the 'HAS_FIELD_SEPARATOR' to 'X' to overcome this problem.
But all the efforts are in vain. The function module 'ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE' doesn't exist on SRM Server and I am not getting any other function module having similar functionality available on SRM server.
I have written the following code:-

Oracle ORACLE PL/SQL V9.0.1.5.0 - Production
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0
Operating system is Linux Redhat
I have a run that produces a report from a table with blobs.
I get error REP-1818: on records that have large a Blob.
Is there a limit on the size of a blob in Reports?
Is there a workaround for this problem?I think there is no way to solve this issue......!!

Why some columns are not read into Power Pivot when reading data from a SQL query
I have this SQL query that I want to use to read data to PowerPivot from:
SELECT Score.FieldCount as fieldcount, Score.Record.GetAt(0) as predicted_gender, Score.Record.GetAt(1) as probability_of_gender, Score.Record.GetAt(2)
as probability_of_m,
Score.Record.GetAt(3) as probability_of_f, Score.Record.GetAt(4) as customerkey
FROM
SELECT * FROM dbo.myCLR1(
dbo.MyCLR2('c:\fILES\MLSM.xml'),
'SELECT * FROM [dbo].[Customer]') Input
) Score
After I click 'Finish' in "Table Import Wizard", I can only get 1 column (FieldCount) in Power Pivot window. Why don't I get the other 4 columns? If I save the result to a table I do get all columns but my goal is to dynamically present the result
so that's not an option. Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks,
Chu
-- Predict everything. http://www.predixionsoftware.comIf I only pass in query as

Please HELP!!! Issue w/ Transformation from date to dateTime type
Hi Guys,
I'm having a problem with converting date to dateTime. We have a webservice that contain dateTime type and the input is date type. Is there a simple way to convert/transform a date to dateTime format? Example date = "2009-09-12", need to convert to dateTime = "2009-09-12T00:00:00". Thanks for helping!!!For this specific situation you could also make use of the concat string funtion: concat(date, 'T00:00:00'). The result equals your dateTime format.
Kind Regards,

Iam using Fedora 9 with 32 bit.
Iam using JSR80 api to read the data from USB devices.
I successfully set-up the code as per given on JSR80 site on my eclipsce ide.
below is my code which iam using to read data from usb
import com.ibm.jusb.*;
import java.util.List;
import javax.usb.*;
import java.util.List;
public class USBReader {
public static UsbInterface interf = null;
public static void main(String[] args) {
try
{// Access the system USB services, and access to the root
// hub. Then traverse through the root hub.
System.out.println("Application started");
UsbServices services = UsbHostManager.getUsbServices();
UsbHub rootHub = services.getRootUsbHub();
traverse(rootHub);
testIO(rootHub);
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("The Exception occured"+e.getMessage());
public static void traverse(UsbDevice device){
System.out.println("Iam in traverse ");
if (device.isUsbHub()){
// This is a USB Hub, traverse through the hub.
System.out.println("The device is hub");
List attachedDevices = ((UsbHub) device).getAttachedUsbDevices();
System.out.println("The attached devices size:"+attachedDevices.size());
for (int i=0; i<attachedDevices.size(); i++){
traverse((UsbDevice) attachedDevices.get(i));
if(attachedDevices !=null){
for(int j=0;j<attachedDevices.size();j++){
System.out.println("The device is"+attachedDevices.get(j));
else{
// This is a USB function, not a hub.
// Do something.
System.out.println("The device is not hub");
public static void testIO(UsbDevice device) throws UsbClaimException, UsbNotActiveException, UsbDisconnectedException, UsbException{
System.out.println("Iam in testIO");
try{
// Access to the active configuration of the USB device, obtain
// all the interfaces available in that configuration.
UsbConfiguration config = device.getActiveUsbConfiguration();
List totalInterfaces = config.getUsbInterfaces();
System.out.println("The Total interfaces: "+totalInterfaces.size());
// Traverse through all the interfaces, and access the endpoints
// available to that interface for I/O.
for (int i=0; i<totalInterfaces.size(); i++){
interf = (UsbInterface) totalInterfaces.get(i);
System.out.println("The interfaces are "+totalInterfaces.get(i));
String strinf=interf.getInterfaceString();
System.out.println("Claimed Status: "+interf.isClaimed());
System.out.println("Active status : "+interf.isActive());
System.out.println("Settings :"+interf.getNumSettings());
//interf.release();
interf.claim();
List totalEndpoints = interf.getUsbEndpoints();
for (int j=0; j<totalEndpoints.size(); j++){
// Access the particular endpoint, determine the direction
// of its data flow, and type of data transfer, and open the
// data pipe for I/O.
UsbEndpoint ep = (UsbEndpoint) totalEndpoints.get(i);
int direction = ep.getDirection();
int type = ep.getType();
UsbPipe pipe = ep.getUsbPipe();
pipe.open();
// Perform I/O through the USB pipe here.
pipe.close();
interf.release();
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Exception in TestIO"+e.getMessage());
e.printStackTrace();
}When i execute the above code i get the following exception
Exception in TestIOCannot claim an interface on a virtual root hub.
javax.usb.UsbException: Cannot claim an interface on a virtual root hub.

at USBReader.testIO(USBReader.java:60)
at USBReader.main(USBReader.java:15)iam not getting the clue for it .Cannot claim an interface on a virtual root hubSo don't do that? I have no idea how to tell, but clearly you need to test a few more attributes before you claim. Or else just log the claim error and continue with the next interface.

Help Required -- Can we use SQL Query to READ data from SAP MDM Tables
Hi All,
Please help.........
Can we use SQL Query to READ(No Creation/Updation/Deletion just Read) Data from SAP MDM tables directly, without using MDM Syndicator.
Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.
Thanks in Advance
RegardsAll the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.

How can i read data in pagemaker file (PMD) using Visual Studio C# NET ?
I have bunch of data in .PMD file (Page Maker Document). Which contains mathematical equations and chemistry formulas, I am a .NET developer, and I am writing code for one of the educational learning system. For that I need to read and store mathematical equations/ chemistry formulas from .PMD file into database then display on the browser page.
Is it possible to read data from .PMD file using C#.NET, do I need to use any external libraries. How can I import .PMD to MATHML (Mathematical Markup language)?
Any existing examples for C#.NET?
Please help me regarding this.I can't claim to know much about visual C# Net, but I do know a bit about pagemaker. It really can't handle equations. there are a few work arounds involving things like baseline shifts and multiple text boxes, but generally equations were created in different programs and placed in pagemaker in picture or eps files. Either way the chances of extracting usable data out of pagemaker is very slim.

Use Adobe Reader to Save Form Data
I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create several forms and enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader so that my users can save the form data locally using Adobe Reader 7 or higher. My questions are: (1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data? For example, the form can only be save 500 times per form or is it unlimited. (2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again? (3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data? (4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional? The reason why i'm asking these questions is because I want to be in compliance with the Adobe license. My users don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional, but would like to use Adobe Reader to save the form data.
>(1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data?
It is my understanding that you can harvest data from a form 500 times whether that be from one user of 500 users.
>(2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again
You'd probably be walking on thin ice by trying that. Could be a loophole but maybe not.
>(3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data?
Not if you stay within the limit that is stated in the EULA.
>(4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional?
Different forms? As far as I know there is no limit to the amount of different forms you use.
In my opinion, if you think you are going to go anywhere near the limitations of the EULA, consult with your attorney before proceeding. The form enabling function was never intended for large business use. Adobe has another, more costly, solution for that. -
How to read data from a router by using labview
I am a beginner labview. How to read data from a router by using labview ?
What kind of data are you trying to read?
Does the router behave like a webserver that you log into? If so, search the forums for threads discussing HTML. -
Hi experts, how to use open sql to read data from one " maintenance view"?
i want to use this part of data within report ,so how to use open sql statement to read data from one " maintenance view"?
Hi
You can't use OPEN SQl statements to fetch data from maintenance view
You have to use only Database views
see the different types of views and the difference
The followings are different types of views:
- Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
- Help View ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.
- Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
- Maintenance View ( SE54 )
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.
