Pointing an emailed fdf to the right pdf form

I am using Acrobat 8 Pro and I've designed a pdf form that I need to distribute and collect over email. Part of the data is filled in first by another application, which then also distributes the forms. This application requires that usage rights are not "enabled for Reader users." The users then fill in the rest of the form and use the Submit button to email an fdf file back to me. But when I try to open the fdf it comes up with a "this document cannot be found" error and makes me go and find the original pdf manually. So my question is, is there a way to program the file path to the pdf into the form itself so the fdf will know where to point when it's sent back?

there should be a reference to the PDF in the fdf. Open up the fdf in a text editor and see where it points to. I think you can manually change it to be an absolute path if for some reason you move the original

    Yahoo is my homepage, I have been using Firefox for years but when I downloaded Firefox 4 my yahoo email was on the right in place of page options and I liked it better, it was there for a while but now it has gone back to the old way on the left, why is this

    Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

    Hi;
    This FAQ should describe the issue - you need to be using Adobe Reader (free) or Adobe Acrobat to fill out the PDF, Preview on the Mac breaks the PDF so it is no longer usable: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2653

  • Script to open another pdf attach to email and close the new pdf

    I have a pdf that contais a movie and there is a link to send another pdf with a small version of that film to email i tried this code but without any luck
    var myDoc = app.openDoc({cPath:"XXXXXX/cpi-028.bx.pdf"});
    myDoc.mailDoc(true);
    myDoc.closeDoc(true);
    the link is working but after the small pdf opens nothing else works
    Somebody please help me

    If the PDF isn't already downloaded in the email then you should be able to do so by tapping on it.
    If the PDF is open within the body of the email then press and hold it and after a second or so you should get a 'Open In' pop-up; otherwise (e.g. the PDF opens into a separate screen) then tap the PDF and you should get an icon top right of a box with an arrow coming out of it - tap that and you'll get the 'Open In' option

  • Can I edit the email created to send a PDF form back to me when a user clicks on Submit?

         I created several PDF fillable forms for our users to request services and send back data needed to deliver those services. They are simple forms, and users will click on Submit to return to a mailto: address.
    My question is about the email message that is auto-created when the user clicks on Submit. I can't find any config window to be able to edit the message in the body of the email. The message reads:
    Form Returned: 2014PrintingRequestForm.pdf
    The attached file is the filled-out form. Please open it to review the data.
    Is there any way to edit this message?

    majende,
    Adobe Reader for iOS does support a Submit button.
    (a) Button action to submit an entire PDF document via email
    (b) JavaScript submitForm to Adobe FormsCentral
    Do you use the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF form?
    For option (a)
    Add the "Submit a form" action to your Submit button.
    Enter "mailto:" (including a colon) followed by email recipient(s).  Please add a comma between two email addresses.
    Example: [email protected], [email protected]
    Select "PDF The complete document".
    This particular type of PDF form will work with Adobe Reader desktop and mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS and Android).
    In Adobe Reader for iOS, a user can do the following steps to submit the particular type of PDF form.
    Fill out the PDF form.
    Tap the Submit button in the PDF form.
    Select "Share Original Document" or "Share Flattened Copy" from the Share File dialog.
    Adobe Reader for iOS will automatically fill in the email address(es) that you specified when you created the PDF form.
    Tap the Send button in the upper right corner.
    Adobe Reader for iOS will send the PDF form as an email attachment via Apple Mail (the default mail app for iOS).
    Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • Email pdf by getting email info from the same pdf?

    I'm working on a form that has many fields for a customer to fill out. One of these is an email form. I would like to write something in javascript that will grab this information that would have just been filled out by the customer and email the entire pdf to them.
    Basically, I'm looking for a box that a user will be able to input their email into, with a button next to it that will email the pdf to them based on what their email is.
    I know a little javascript but I'm not sure where to start on this... Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • How do I save the whole pdf form and send through a mailto?

    I have a pdf form created in LiveCycle that needs to be sent through email as a pdf attachment.

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Troubleshooting Email Issues of Dynamic Online PDF Form

    Hello,
    I created a dynamic PDF using LiveCycle Designer ES.  At the very end there is an Email button and the end user should be able to click on the button and it automatically emails the form to us.  We have received complaints that people have attempted to email us the form but we have not received anything.
    I've tested it and we have had no problems here.  We have received the form from others outside of our Agency.
    Any suggestions???

    Hi,
    In the previous post there is a 'Don't show again' checkbox. If that has been clicked in the past, then you won't get the dialog window. I am reasonably confident that if you go to the preferences and tick the 'Reset warnings' button, it should allow the dialog to appear:
    I just don't want to test it!
    The other potential issue is which type of button you used for your email submit:
    A regular button with control type 'regular' and a custom script will not show the dialog window;
    A regular button with control type 'submit' will show the dialog window; and
    An email submit button will show the dialog window.
    So in the sample here (https://acrobat.com/#d=2W4mi8OiEHBYfsXEWJcMcA) the first button does not show the dialog, but the last two buttons do show the dialogue. Testing these on your copy of Acrobat may help.
    Also bear in mind that if you are using Reader and the form is not Reader Enabled, then the dialog will not come up at all.
    A solution to this is to select "submit as XML' instead of 'submit as PDF'. Users with Reader can submit XML responses even when the form is not Reader Enabled.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • FDF Merge with Rights Enabled Form

    Hi,
    I have a rights enabled form and I would like to be able to do a server side merge with this form and fdf data using a tool like pdftk or Appligent's FDFMerge. However, when the form is merged, there is a message saying "this document used to have rights but have been disabled due to changes in the document" (something along those lines).
    Is it possible to do a server side merge with a rights enabled document and still keep the rights?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Alix

    It sounds like you may be modifying the structure of the form and not just populating fields. Is the tool actually "filling in" the form or filling the form and creating a new form from the original using it as a template?

  • How can I print emails without losing the right side of message Windows Vista 6.0 Photosmart C6830

    When I print email messages, right side of message lines do not print (run out of space) on a Photosmart C6830 using Windows Vista Home Version 6.0.  Have tried highlighting message to print & choosing (selection) in print window - does not solve problem.

    The print spooler is a windows service and is required to print. I would hazard a guess you can not print with any application.
    What I am saying is I think your windows instalation has a problem, not Thunderbird.

  • Disable Save Button in the Interactive PDF form

    Hi Experts,
        I have created an interactive form using NWDS and I am able to show it as Collable Object. Now the requirement is that I have to disable the save button from the PDF.
    Can you please let me know how to disable the Save Button for the interactive form?
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,
    Kuldeep Verma

    Hi Kuldip,
    if you're trying to hide the Save Button in the Adobe toolbar, then you can place the following code in the wdDoModifyView method to hide the whole toolbar.
    // Get interactibe form handler.
            IWDPDFDocumentInteractiveFormHandler iFormHandler = WDPDFDocumentFactory.getDocumentHandler(wdThis.wdGetAPI(), "<name of your form>");
    //     Get appearance setter.
          IWDPDFDocumentAppearance appearance = iFormHandler.getDocumentContext().getAppearance();
         // Hide menu bar.
         appearance.hideMenuBar(true);
         // Hide tool bars.
         appearance.hideToolBars(true);
    hope this helps,

  • Comparing and picking the right value form one of the line item in a doc.

    Hi Gurus,
    I have requirement such that I have to show the tax jurisdiction code of only one item. That is if there are 5 line items with in a document and each one has diffeerent tax jurisdiction code, then we should be showing only one tax jurisdiction code for a document. Line items are not displayed in report. The condition to pick up tax jurisdiction code is the one which has least ending zeros.
    Supppose
    Doc1          Item          Tax Jurisdiction code
    1800000002       1          CNQC00000000000
    1800000002       2          CNQC00000000000
    1800000002       3          CN0000000000000
    1800000002       4          CNQC00000000000
    1800000002       5          TXJOHNCLEBUR000
    I have to display  the value of tax jurisdiction code corresponding to item 5  as its has least  zeros in it.
    So what I am trying to do is add another custom z object tax jurisdiction code and the value for this is populated using a routine in the update rules, such that comparing all the tax jurisdiction code for all the corresponding items in a document.
    Now the question is if I am reading all values of document no. line item and tax jurisdiction code into an internal table form communication structure for a data package. And in the update rule I will be writing a routine comparing the values of tax jurisdiction code from internal table and populating the desired value. Now the big question for me is if there are two line items of a document in one data package and another 3 line items of the corresponding same document in data package 2 then how can we compare the values of Tax jurisdiction code of all the 5 line items of a document.
    If this can be achieved using customer exit on the front end let me know and just inputs how the abap code would be or if not do I have to write abap in updates rules. I just want to know how to compare different values of Tax Jurisdiction code and select the one with has least ending zeros. For information the tax jurisdiction code is of type character and length 15.
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Yes, it's possible. Just use a regular text item. Create an LOV using the LOV wizard. When you define the query for the LOV's record group, enter a statement that selects from the other database table. Set the return value of the appropriate LOV column to be the text item on the form. Finally, assign the LOV to that text item, so that the LOV pops up when the user presses the LOV key with the cursor in that text item. You can also set the LOV so that it automatically displays when the cursor enters the text item.
    Just look up LOV in online help if you need more info.
