Poor audio quality - PLEASE HELP!

So i recently purchased the Satellite C55T-A5306 and the sounds quality from the laptop itself is really low quality. So to try and enhance the sound, i bought Logitech Z130 Stereo Speakers and it STILL sounds dry and muddy. I plugged the speakers into my iPod and the sound was drastically improved, but when they're in my laptop it sounds flat. I don't know how to make the audio sound better through my speakers. Please help!
I was thinking that if i bought an HDTV and used that as an external monitor and got speakers for my TV, it would sound better and add texture, but i'm unsure if the audio quality would still be dry from the laptop.

Check and see if it you need to update your audio drivers and check their settings. You can check this out via the device manager in control panel. I'm not familiar with this specific model but with mine if you plug in a headphone jack it will bring up the dolby/reltek audio manager. See what kind of quality it's on and whether or not you can put it on stereo, then check your EQ's, bass, that kind of thing. Try having a CD or something going while you do it so you can hear the differences and set it to your liking. If it doesn't come up with the manager try typing in either audio or sound into your start menu's search bar and see what it gives you.
Best of luck!

  • Lync 2013 and Audiocodes ESBC Mediant 1000 - poor audio quality

Bit of an odd issue that I've been looking into for the past few weeks - our part of our change from a pilot Lync install to production we have had an Audiocodes ESBC Mediant 1000 installed to serve as a Media Gateway between the Lync Mediation Server and
our Gamma Telecom provided SIP trunk.
However under certain situations my users are reporting exceptionally poor audio quality with the Lync server reporting website reporting a very high packet loss and our ESBC reporting a high 'Average voice delay' (often greater than 80ms).
I have established that by taking these steps the issue can be replicated with almost impunity-
Make incoming call from mobile phone (or landline) - pickup call on Lync Deskphone (CX300/CX500/CX600 and VVX410 all have the same).
Begin a consultative call transfer with an external (another mobile/landline) or internal number which places the incoming call on hold.
Complete the call transfer - at this point the audio quality is still as expected.
Begin a new call from a Lync phone to an external number - at this point the audio quality for the phone call that has been transferred and the new call instantly degrades.
    My basic topology is-
    Fibre Leased Line - Cat5e cable - Router - Cat5e cable - DMZ Switch - Cat5e cable - Audiocodes Mediant 1000 - Cat5e cable - Servers VLAN - Switch - Fibre - Core switch (layer 3) - Fibre - VMWare Host (ESXI v5) - Lync Server (VMNET 3 adapter)
I have been able to replicate the issue when using both TCP and TLS between the Lync Mediation Server and the Audiocodes gateway.
Over the next day or so I will be looking to get the SIP trunk connected directly to the Lync server to see if that makes any difference (ruling out the Mediant 1000 as a possible cause) but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas as to what could be
    causing this most weird situation?

    Hi,
Please disassociate the Edge Server from the Mediation and check the delay again.
Please check port 3478 to the internal interface of the Edge Server from all internal clients (including the Mediation Server).
    Best Regards,

  • Poor Audio Quality From Exchange 2010 UM

    Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue with our Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging system in that the audio quality is suddenly rather poor.  We are using Cisco Callmanager 7 for our phone system.  When you call an automated attendant, hit the "messages"
button or call the extension to go to voicemail, the audio you hear "crackles," or sounds like it is skipping slightly in that there are brief but noticable interruptions in the audio.
The audio quality issue only occurs when you are connected to voicemail or automated attendants, but not when conversing to other people on phone calls, so that leads me to believe either some interoperability between CM and Exchange UM is malfunctioning, or
just something in UM is a problem.  Also, if you listen to voice messages through the computer instead of over the phone, the quality is fine.  The problem seems to be mainly with calling in to the UM system.
What can I do to properly troubleshoot this?  I have found the Exchange 2010 UM Troubleshooting Assistant, but I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can install Service Pack 1 due to downtime window restrictions.  I'm not coming up with a lot of
documentation involving this, so if anyone has any information they think might help me get to the bottom of this I would apprecaite it.
    Thank you.

Cisco Callmanger and UM are on the same LAN.
I highly doubt that QoS is the culprit here, simply because there aren't any issues with phone calls.  If QoS was dropping VOIP packets, then IP phone to IP phone calls would also have poor audio quality.  If I call somebody on another IP
phone on the LAN, the audio quality is perfect.  It is only when you are connected to the UM system that you hear the poor audio quality -- either listening to voicemail prompts, listening to actual voicemails, listening to the automated attendant --
anything in which UM is on one end of the phone call.
It also seems strange that this is somewhat intermittent.  When the issue first occurred, it was definitely happening every time you called in to the UM system and I could repeat the issue by simply pushing my messages button and listening to the welcome
and prompt for a PIN.  I restarted the Exchange server at night, and the next day it was intermittent with people calling the help desk to say they were getting poor audio quality from UM but when I tried to repeat the issue I could not.
I also have users complaining of intermittent slowness when using Outlook, which may be totally unrelated.  I have been running Perf logs on the Exchange server for the last couple of weeks othe CPU, Network Connections, Exchange RPC totals, etc.
and can't find anything that is using too many resources.

  • IPhoto 06 poor quality Please help Please help!

I am now struggling big time. In a recent post I stated the major issues that I have with iMovie 08
"I have increased my RAM from 1gig to 4 gig and upgraded my operating system to OS X 10.5.6 (including Boot ROM version etc.) I have re-installed iLife 08 and have installed all available software updates and am still having iMovie 08 constantly crash on me while creating a movie. It imports my .MOV files fine, but crashes while cutting footage from my iPhoto Video library in Event Library to be added to a project."
Not being able to work in iMovie 08 I have imported some of the same footage into iMovie 06, but unfortunately it looks far inferior in quality in 06. In 08 the footage is crisp and clear and in 06 it looks soft and out of focus.
I am working on HD .MOV files that are 1920x1080 and want to retain that same quality. At this stage it looks like neither iMovie 06 or 08 are of any use to me.
    Please help!

  • Poor audio  quality with iTunes 9

    Hi.
This is my first posting and I am hoping members of the iTunes development team look in here.
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and I noticed a marked improvement in sound quality using iTunes 8 . Please note I am playing AIFF files through the digi out of my Macbook into a high quality Dac, amp and speaker separates system, in fact the sound was as good as any cd transport I have ever used. I then "upgraded" to iTunes 9 and noticed a deterioration in audio quality, the bass has become woolly and indistinct and small details in songs are harder to hear resulting in a un-involving sound.
I know I am not imagining this as I have done repeated tests using the same file played back via iTunes9, Songbird and Cog and iTunes is clearly the inferior of the three and the poor quality of 9 is being discussed on many hifi forums.
So come on iTunes team either sort out the audio output of 9 or give us audiophiles an easy way to get rid of 9 and go back to 8 without losing our libraries.
ps. love all the bells and whistles but sound quality is paramount.
    Cheers
    Andy.

I had exactly the same problem on my new, beefed-up laptop and couldn't figure out how an "upgrade" could ruin my music (which I take pretty seriously). I am embarrassed to say what actually fixed the problem. I started by turning off the EQ and it improved somewhat. I kept searching the web without luck until I noticed something by accident. My system volume was low and the iTunes volume was peaked at max. I turned the iTunes volume to 40% and turned up the computer volume to compensate and voila! The bass distortion and indistinct vocal range was immediately fixed. I turned the EQ back on and was able to use it however I liked. I guess it is like turning up the volume on a radio to max. You get sound, but it gets distorted in the upper range. Hope that helps!

  • FCP or Compressor Audio Problem - Please Help!

    Please Help!
I have completed my wedding project in Final Cut and it includes 4 extra stereo tracks (music etc) on the Final Cut Time line, therefore 5 stereo tracks in total. Music was just imported into the browser and then placed according in the time line.
When I export the whole project to Compressor, the video compresses fine into the DVD best quality format but the audio compressor has only compressed a SEGMENT of the FIRST stereo tracks?!
Totally Bizarre.. My client is waiting for the DVD and I’m at total loss!!
Desperate workaround (but want to avoid) If I have too i tried rendering the whole movie to a QT movie, then importing that into DVD Studio and just using the audio from that (which is ok) in my DVD project! But I don’t want to do this as I have not properly compressed the audio along with the video in the DVD best settings preset in compressor.

No I don't think so.. I use Switch to convert the .whatever files into .aff compliant files. Something has obviously go a miss somewhere during my edit, I just cannot think where. I did ask before if there was anyway to check for compression markers as the orginal problem seemed to be rendering just only a section of the audio. I did a clear markers control+' which clears markers on the timeline but not sure where that leaves compression markers. As I imply, I didnt deliberately saet any compression markers but maybe some crept in there?
Also I found it odd why SP pro originally came up with just "Error" when I tried to export the project to it? I tried a fresh sequence with a small amout of video on it and it exported fine into Soundtrack Pro (SP).
Additional question: What is the purpose for the mix down in the Sequence settings then? I seemed to do the trick for me? Should I include this in my work-flow because it is not always necessary to use Soundtrack Pro just for laying down a music bed?
    Thanks

  • Apple TV - audio support - ******** PLEASE HELP

    Please help!
I am considering to buy an APPLE TV but I don't want to waste the money if it won't work with my system. I desperately need some guidance:
I have an extensive library of music on my Win XP computer. The library is all in MP3 format (encoded at rates 192-256K). I encoded all of these over the years from CD's (I have tossed the CD's after I ripped them). So now I have this extensive (1000+ song) library. Well, I would like to play them on my home audio system (and not my computer which has s6%%& speakers).
I have an NAD receiver which has an optical digital audio input. The ATV has an optical digital audio output. My aim was to download (actually download to the ATV HD, not wirelessly stream from my computer as this requires my computer to be always on. I am a securities trader and my computer is too busy on other aps).
In order to view the library of music (all MP3 songs) I would connect the HDMI (or component) to my LCD TV which has all of these connection inputs.
    A few questions (please):
    1) Is it possible for me to DOWNLOAD all of my MP3 songs from my computer to the ATV?
    2) If the above is possible, would I be required to "convert" my MP3 library into the iTunes format for playback or could I just play the audio file in the MP3 format?
    3) If I am forced to convert from MP3 to itunes format won't there be some loss of audio quality in the sound caused by re-encoding process?
    4) Is the digital audio optical connection going to produce good sound (I have a great NAD AV receiver and speaker system that has great DVD and CD sound playback)?
    5) All I want to do is to have good sound from an easy to read library. I don't want to be forced into using iTunes proprietary control format (believe me, Apple is banking on controlling the music industry this way. I served on the legal review of this some years ago). I looked at using the Sony PS3 as a device to accomplish my objectives. However, I am concerned that the sound card on the Sony PS3 may be inferior to the ATV sound card.
I really don't care about downloading videos, playing back photos, or ordering items from the iTunes store. I just want to get good quality sound playback and I want to know if the ATV is the best device for this?
    Desperate for anyone's expert advice.
Thank you so much for answering.

Why on earth did you throw away the CDs ???
Real shame as you've now lost the original quality songs.
    A few questions (please):
    1) Is it possible for me to DOWNLOAD all of my MP3 songs from my computer to the ATV?
If the MP3s are less than 32GB total tehy'd fit on a 40GB AppleTV (It has 32GB of usable space).
    2) If the above is possible, would I be required to "convert" my MP3 library into the iTunes format for playback or could I just play the audio file in the MP3 format?
Highly unlikely - I've had some MP3s that don't play on some devices due to experimental encoding strategies but you should be fine.
    3) If I am forced to convert from MP3 to itunes format won't there be some loss of audio quality in the sound caused by re-encoding process?
Converting lossy format to lossy format will always lose quality - whether or not it's perceptible is another issue. I doubt you'd have to though.
    4) Is the digital audio optical connection going to produce good sound (I have a great NAD AV receiver and speaker system that has great DVD and CD sound playback)?
As good as the quality of your MP3s,
    5) All I want to do is to have good sound from an easy to read library.
A 40Gb AppleTV is worth the money for that alone IMO.
The sound card is irrelevant if outputting digitally, but the quality of the software/hardware decoder for MP3 might be relevant. In practice i doubt you'd have a problem.
MP3s, WAVs etc will be converted to PCM audio for playback via optical from AppleTV - will the NAD accept this? - I'd be surprised if it didn't.
One real pain with the PS3 is that only one audio out is active at a time so you end up swapping settings all the time.
I really don't care about downloading videos, playing back photos, or ordering items from the iTunes store. I just want to get good quality sound playback and I want to know if the ATV is the best device for this?
It's an excellent device for this, but I doubt it's the best if you had money to burn on audiophile media center solutions...

  • Captivate 8, NeoSpeech Spanish poor audio quality

    Hello everyone,
I was demoing some of NeoSpeech's non-English voices when I had Captivate 7 and they were operating fine. Recently I licensed a Spanish language voice AND upgraded to Captivate 8. Now the audio quality for the Spanish voice is very bad. There's a lot of noise and it sounds like the treble is being over-driven. This does NOT occur with the standard 5 NeoSpeech voices already included in the language pack.
I reverted my licensed version back to a demo version and the quality is still poor. Audio using the same voice through Microsoft's SAPI sounds clear and fine. It is only when running through Captivate 8 that the audio degrades.
Does anyone have an idea why this worked fine in Cp7 and fails in Cp8, yet other NeoSpeech voices are fine?

I had exactly the same problem on my new, beefed-up laptop and couldn't figure out how an "upgrade" could ruin my music (which I take pretty seriously). I am embarrassed to say what actually fixed the problem. I started by turning off the EQ and it improved somewhat. I kept searching the web without luck until I noticed something by accident. • UC320 call forwarding, poor audio quality

On nights and weekends, I have the UC320 set up to ring the main hunt group of 3 office phones for 4 rings, if no one answers, it forwards out to another phone number.  Now here is where my problem comes in, When the calls comes in from caller to the UC320, the caller hears the 4 rings loud and clear on their phone, then when the UC320 forwards the call to the outside phone number, the sound quality drops significantly and the rings are almost inaudible.  When the forwarded call is answered, the voices are almost in audible and very distant and a bit staticy.  This only happens in the forwarding mode, not on normal call throughtout the day when someone calls in.
What setting could be affecting this.  The UC320 is on Time Warner Cable lines.  And when those lines are called directly, call quality if perfect.  As soon as the call is forwarded out whether that be to a Cloud based system like Phone.com or Vonage or even another land line, the call quality issue occurs.
Has anyone experienced this type of issue?  What settings would have bearing on this?
    Please Help!
    Thank you.
    Tony.

    Hi Sleeze,
I do not have Skype so I can not judge. Most of the posts I have read seem to suggest iChat Audio is better.
However Skype could have updated their app.
As long as iChat Bandwidth and Quicktime streaming setting in System Preferences are not capping your connection I can not see any other changes you can make. (unless you are "too far" from the camera). If the last is the case it may pay to adjust the volume in System Preferences > Sound >Input tab as this is the master for iChat. I am not sure if it is the same for Skype.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A205S4617 Vista and audio wont come out of the speakers. I have tried:
    1. Reinstalling audio driver from the Toshiba website
    2. Updating all drivers from Control Panel - Sound - Device Menus (said everything was up to date but when I went to sound to do a test it said it failed)
    3. System Restore (but it didn't give me an option to go back to yesterday when the audio was working, any idea how to get it to do that? )
    4. Reboot F2,F9,F10 config restore
Any more ideas please help!!! thanks.

Time to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If the sound doesn't work then, you have a hardware malfunction.

  • Poor Audio Quality in my new HP 15 R203TX

Hi I have just purchased HP pavillion 15 R2037TX laptop. It comes with 5th gen 5200U processor with 4gb ram, 2gb nvidia 820M graphics 1tb of hdd with DOS with realtek hd sound technology.  I installed win 8.1 and accordingly installed all the drivers from the official hp website. After installing audio driver I found that DTS audio control panel was installed. My laptop is working fine except one thing  I am not getting proper sound quality which i used to enjoy in my previous e038tx laptop that  too came with DTS audio. The sound is not sweet or crisp rather very hazy when playing through external subwoofer and speaker. I enjoyed clear and crisp audio quality in the same speaker and sub woofer  previously. Plus I can not understand why after realtek hd audio I get dts audio control panel. Because the audio vendor says its hardware is Realtek HD audio. Realtek has its own audio control panel which I do not find here. Whatever kindly help me how can i enjoy beautiful sound >? thanx in advance

When I use iSight in Skype it delivers a way better audio quality in comparison with iChat Audio/Video chat. It's not that crisp, more like a poor telephone call. I wonder if I can change it or is it just an iChat nature?

I will apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge of my new iMac. I have had it for about 3 months and I cant seem to get any audio from my mixer to come out. I have Klipsch 2.1 sound running out which does work well but I cant get the audio in from my mixer(Behringer DJX 700) to come through. I am sure its something simple but I cant find anywhere that tells me how to do this. I had it running through my Dell in to the sound card and it was fine but the Dell has all but died and I cant record anything anymore. Someone please help a newbie out!! thanks!

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Behringer DJX 700
Check with the vendor site to make sure their software/hardware is Mac OS X compatible.
Considering it worked with your Dell it's obviously Windows compatible but may not be Mac. I hope that's not the case for you.
