Poor Service the whole nine yards

On Saturday, March 29, 2014, I purchased a "Deal of the Day," a Samsung Gear Watch and selected a pick up from Best Buy on Monroe Street in Toledo, OH.  I live 28.1 miles from this location, but I happened to be passing it later that day.  I got a confirmation email stated that my item was ready to be picked up.  When I arrived, I went to the Customer Service Counter, where I have picked up other "Deal of the Day" purchases.  The lady helping me, spent 15 minutes looking for my order, which she could not find even after asking for help.  Between the two employees, they figured out to ask someone else where my item that was alreay purchased was.  It was being held with the cell phones.  They alerted the people I was coming over.  I waited 15 more minutes while I watched a tech agent at the Samsung counter lounge on the counter, and four employees helping two customers.  Once I finally got someone to help me, He pulls out my purchase, set my item down on the counter, and then, proceeded to tell me he couldn't ring me up because he didn't know how to check me out.  He did check me out after another 5 minutes when he realized none of the four employees next to him would help.  Anyone totaling my time yet?  We're at 35 minutes and counting for a "Deal of the Day" pick-up.  After all said and done, 40 minutes later I left the store even though I already had an email stating it was ready.  Clearly it wasn't ready and neither were the employees prepared to handle customers that day.  Lesson #1: Don't pick a Best Buy because you know you will pass it when you know there is a better one just down the road.
I digress to my purchase.  I get it home, and I open it up to find it doesn't work.  This brand new item doesn't work.  Seriously?  What was the point of spending 40 minutes in a store for an item that doesn't work?  Great...so here comes part two.
I decided to go back to a familiar Best Buy on Freemont Pike, Perrysburg, OH.  It is 12.3 miles closer than the first one.  I take my item in, get my sticker at the door, and I'm being helped before I even get over to the Customer Service Counter.  I tell them that it doesn't work, and the lady sends me over to the Samsung counter where they test it.  He tells me it will take about 10 minutes.  It takes him 3 minutes trying a combination of solutions for him to also determine the watch doesn't work.  He says they don't have the same color in stock, and he asks if a different color is ok.  He goes and gets another watch and takes me back to the Costumer Service Counter, and the lady proceeds to ring me back up.  She gets half way through it and calls over a manager, and then informs me it will cost me $100 more to exchange the watch.  The lady and the manager converse for a few minutes trying to problem solve so I don't own them $100 more to exchange a DEFECTIVE watch.  Here were their solutions: 1. Just return the watch or 2. Drive 11.2 miles where another Best Buy (neither of which I have previously entangle with for this watch) where they have 3 watches that I can exchange them.  Here is the catch, they can't ask them to hold the item till I get there because there are no holds.  I guess I'm not like most Best Buy customers because I didn't have time to drive an addition 22.4 miles round trip out of my way because I had to go to work.  Mind you, these people were as nice as could be, and I didn't have time to argue.  Since I was unable to spend my day doing the leg work to find a watch that did work, I returned the watch per the options I was given.
I am now without a watch, and I am one unsatisfied customer.  One of the things that store #2 mentioned was that "Deal of the Day' purchases are online purchases.  With that in mind, I called the number.  After explaining my situation, I filed a complaint with the first store for poor service, and then I asked her how I can resolve this problem to get a working watch.  Her only option was she could sell me the same watch for $100 more than I paid for it minus $10 for inconveience or something.  After a heated debate and no resolution.  She had not one solution to the problem and no answer for how to avoid this situation.  Here were some of the question she, a representation of the corporate office of Best Buy, could not answer,
1.  Why can I not exchange my watch for one that works?
2.  Why was I told that I had to either drive out of my way or just return the watch because the watch never worked to begin with?
3.  Why did it take me 40 minutes to pick up an item that I already received an email stating it was ready?
4.  If the product I purchase is defective, and I cannot exchange it for one that works, How can you justify selling an item that doesn't work?
5.  Why will you not price match your own sale?
6.  If I decide to make another "Deal of the Day" purchase, can you garuntee that it will work or I can exchange it for one that works?
7.  Are you stating that you do not garuntee "Deal of the Day" items are authentic and not defective?
8.  If you are corporate, do you stand behind the ordeal that I have endured just to purchase a watch?
What's the answer to all of these questions?  It's a simple one, I will continue to call the coporate office daily until this matter has been resolved.  If anyone has a better idea how I can get a watch that works for the same price I paid, I am all ears.
What has happened to Best Buy?

Dear bwbtheatre,
I know the “I can’t wait to get it home, rip it open, and start playing with it feeling”, but to do so and find out that it doesn’t work must have been frustrating. I’m glad that you were able to get better customer service upon your visit to the Perrysburg, OH store. If only the circumstances as to why you were there had been different. I appreciate you calling in to leave your feedback about the first store and it pains me to hear that it didn’t end with a desirable resolution for you. No need to call in every day, I will be your single point of contact to assist you in getting another Galaxy Gear. I hope to answer all your questions with this post.
(1) Due to your order being a Deal of the Day offer, the system wouldn’t do an even exchange if it’s not for the same exact sku on the same day of the offer. However, your situation was a little different due to the fact that you had a defective product. (2)The Perrysburg store could have performed the exchange and created order for In Store Pickup. This way, you could pick the new one up, at your convenience, from the store that showed stock of your desired color. They even could have had it shipped to you for free if that was desired as an alternative.
(3)Your first visit, at the Toledo store, should have been much quicker because normally all product would be kept at the Store Pickup area. A reason for keeping those smart watches in Best Buy Mobile might be, with a Mobile Associate performing the pickup, they could make sure you walk out working with your new smart watch paired to your phone.
(4/6/7)In the mass production process, there are bound to be “lemons” that turn up in the process, this is why we offer our Geek Squad Protection and also why manufacturer warranties exist. It wasn’t a question of, can we exchange it for a working product; it was more, what is the best way to do so? (5)When the store realized it was a Deal of the Day order, they should have made sure to process an exchange like I said. Normally, we wouldn’t price match backwards to a previous sale.
(8)This experience should have been a lot more efficient for you; therefore, I want to make sure both the Toledo and Perrysburg stores get your feedback. I am going to reach out to you via private message to gain some more details from those visits as well as your order. Like it says in the title, I already transfered to iCloud days ago, and now I go to check my e-mail and VOILA! Apple/.Mac/iCloud are acting all brand new, like I never did any thing!
So I go through the palabra again to continue using my .Mac e-mail, part of the whole *Family Pack* set-up I paid for each year circa $200 for the whole nine yards for the past six years, only to be told that in their infinite wisdom dwelling in their cushy bubble in Cupertino, Apple will no longer have the service I've been paying for, and "oh, don't worry, you can still have your e-mail"...
Still no e-mail. Still no consistently working .Mac service. Congratulations, Apple. Y'all are starting to look more and more like Microsoft, and no, that is not a complement.

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
    do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
    exit disk utlity
    at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Adobe acrobat claims that there is an update.
However the update process is very flaky and unreliable.
Very poor service, with useless update prompts.
    System report is attached.
Please fix the update, before advertising useless prompts for updates, for paid versions.
    Thanks

    Nothing is attached.
You should also be aware that there are a number of scams and malwares claiming fake updates.
Please post your report and tell us exactly what product and exact version you have.
And be aware you aren't talking to Adobe.

  • When I try to read my rss-feed through yandex service, the browser and the whole system freeze for a significant amount of time. This started with Firefor 5 and is very unpleasant. Thank you in advance.

When I try to download (and especially renew) a page with my rss-feed that I read with Yandex service, the browser freezes, and then the whole system freezes. It typically takes about 5-7 minutes to load a very minimalistic page, and I can't use my browser or my system during that time.
This started with the release of Firefox 5. I use it on Ubuntu. I haven't experienced similar problems with any other websites.
I have already contacted the Yandex team about the matter.
I guess it's just a little weird that one of the Yandex services won't work in Firefox, as Firefox comes with a built-in yandex-bar in many cases. And it sure is frustrating.
Thank you very much and I am looking forward to your reply.

  • Very poor service in the Docklands (Canary Wharf /...

Hi, This is my first post, firstly, i'd like to say, I have a degree in Computer Science, and over 10 years experience in the Internet, Networking and Software Development. So i'm not looking for answers like "turn it off and on again" or "there are many factors that can affect the speed of your line..." etc... Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh but I just want a good response.
    So, here comes my rant...
I am connected to the Poplar exchange, which is between 1 and 2 miles away worst case. The block of flats I live in is directly connected to the exchange without passing through a street cabinet.
Before signing up to BT I was aware of issues in the docklands with connectivity such as :
    - LLU providers being over-subscribed
    - Syncing at low speeds and having terrible line stats
    - Lack of BT Infinity in many areas, and the fact that my building may not get it for a while (due to a limitation on no VDSL from direct-exchange connected lines currently?).
Therefor, I signed up with BT on the Option 3 package... Hoping that, due to their reputation and likely superior infrastructure, they would not be too-oversubscribed and would constantly improve their bandwidth offering at the exchange as the number of connected lines increased.... Maybe I was wrong.
I sync at around 3mb which is what I kind of expected... this is due to bad line stats... which could be down to a million things... I don't mind 3mb, its just about good enough for iPlayer, emails, etc etc.
However... even though i'm synced at 3mb, I seem to only be able to reach a max of around 0.3mb of throughput most of the time... i've tried opening multiple connections to multiple servers over multiple protocols simultaneously to get around any shaping etc... but this has no great effect on the speed... which would lead me to believe there just isn't enough bandwidth available on the backbone...
Somethings (albeit very rarely) however, I am able to acheive the profile of the synced speed. As I say... this is kinda rare.
To add insult to injury, i'm typing this email using 3g "broadband" as my BT line was too slow at loading the rich text editor used to make this post... I'm also staring at the Data Center, 30 meters away, that holds servers I own and each with over a gbit of connectivity, the irony.
    So a few questions...:
    1. Is BT planning to increase the bandwidth allocated on their oversubscribed exchange? So that, users in this area can actually acheive near to their sync speed?
    2. Is BT planning to improve things end to end so that my line stats improve to close to what they should be, given the distance from the exchange etc.
    3. The one i'd really like an answer on: Is BT infinity actually going to happen for me? the exchange is enabled... No one can give a real answer on this.. and I'd like one as a customer, even a "YES it will happen within a year" will be fine. If not.. are there any planned alternatives in the near (1 year or less) future?
    4. I heard there are many people experiencing the same, sync doesn't match anywhere near real-life throughput issue... any action to be taken on this BT?
Please BT could you handle this query properly and not just give me a text-book answer as thats really not what i'm looking for.

Hi This is a customer to customer self help forum for BT retail products and services the only BT presence her are the Forum moderators posts made here do not go to BT
As you questions relate to the network NO one here can assist you as Network infrastructure is the Responsibility of OPENREACH and BT Wholesale both of whom are not customer facing services they only deal with service providers

You to purchase an extreme or express and use it as wrieless extender.. that is the only way Apple provided for boosting the signal.

  • Can anybody help? My Safari browser keeps crashing. The whole window just turns grey.

Can anybody help? My Safari browser keeps crashing on iMac 10.7.5. The whole window just turns grey. It started happening around the time of the new bookmarks menu upgrade recently which changed the bookmarks to be only on the side and makes it so you can see all your bookmarks while browsing.  I know I have a lot of bookmarks, so I tried hiding them, but it still happens. I ALREADY TRIED CLEARING MY HISTORY, AND THAT DID NOT HELP, AND I HAVE NO EXTENSIONS FOR THIS BROWSER.
Does the fact that I am in Brasil have anything to do with it?
Thank you to anyone who can help. In case no one can come up with an answer, is there an easy way to transfer my bookmarks from safari to either firefox or chrome?
    Much appreciated.

    1. This is a comment on what you should and should not do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
       3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. OS X security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the malware attacker. If you're smarter than he thinks you are, you'll win.
That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know what is safe?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is unsafe.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders" are outside the safe harbor, though not all are necessarily harmful.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe. For instance, if a web page warns you that Flash is out of date, do not follow an offered link to an update. Go to the Adobe website to download it, if you need it at all.
Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
"FREE WI-FI !!!" networks in public places are unsafe unless you can verify that the network is not a trap (which you probably can't.) Even then, do not download any software or transmit any private information while connected to such a network, regardless of where it seems to come from or go to.
    6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Follow the above guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself from malware.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. Any database of known threats is always going to be out of date. Most of the danger is from unknown threats. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free anti-virus products in the Mac App Store — nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. Most of the real-world danger of malware attack comes from highly targeted "zero-day" exploits that are not yet recognized.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
An anti-virus app is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
Anti-virus software may be able to tell you which particular virus or trojan it is, but do you care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use the software unless a network administrator requires you to do it.
The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer is going to be infected every time you install an application, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you have the false idea that you will always be safe, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Why is Photostream such a poor service?

So I love Apple.  I haven't purchased anything PC since around 1999 and have everything latest from Apple. I subscribe to their 55GB Cloud service, I use Itunes alot, I have Iphones, desktops, MacPros, the whole kit and kaboodle.  They do so many things so well.  BUT WHY DOES PHOTOSTREAM PERFORM SO POORLY?  I just don't get it?
I've spent a week now trying to figure this service out and there is absolutely no rationale to it.  I've used it spottily over the years, never depended on it much to share photos or back things up, although I take thousands of them.  But this last month I've needed a way to share alot of photos with about a dozen friends and family.  About 100 a day.  So I've tried using Iphotostream and the related shared albums.
What I've found is that the service is terrible.  For the first couple days, I could make albums with 200-500 pictures no problem.  On the third day, everything went haywire.  That was a week ago.  Albums that I'd create to hold anywhere from 50-300 pictures would appear on my Photostream as an empty album, but absolutely nothing would load into them.  No matter how I tried.  I've shut off Photostream on every computer and every Iphone, Ipad, itouch in order to reset the silly thing at least half a dozen time.  AND EVERY TIME, something different happens.  A core 4-5 albums will just never load.  But another 10 or so will load to varying degrees.  Sometimes with 350 pictures, sometimes with 20, but never the same number.  Even my Photostream is goofy.   I reset it all last nite, and then it had the latest 1000 pictures from my iphone.  Today, it has pictures from about two weeks back, and nothing newer than that.  GO FIGURE.
So is there some secret to this thing?  I'm using a Macbook Pro, with the latest OS, brand new Iphones, Mac Air, etc.  I have the full ICloud service, though that shouldn't matter I read as it doesn't use up your ICloud.  I'm not a dumb guy.....yet this silly service makes me feel like an absolute Idiot.
So HERE IS THE REAL QUESTION.  I hate to do this, but WHAT OTHER SERVICE DO MAC USERS USE FOR SHARE ALBUMS AND PHOTOS?  I'm thinking I go with FLICKR?  Once I make the move, I'm probably gone from Iphotostream Albums forever...too much cost and imbedded time to move back.  After over a decade of nothing but APPLE, I'm ready to switch as far as this service is concerned, because it is really bad.

Thanks Gail, I went back and read those in case I've missed something, but I've been through these articles and MANY more....probably spent/wasted over a dozen hours reading about how to use Photostream on the internet trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong.
A simple example.  10 days ago I created an photostream album, let's call it family, using photos that had been loaded into my library via photostream.  For about 3 days I could add photos to it daily, 40 or 50 each day.  I could also create new photostream albums and share those with family members, for specific events like "New York Trip" or "Chicago Visit".  About a week ago, everything went haywire.  I can no longer add photos to the core "Family" photostream album, and any new album I try to create is created, but Zero pictures load in.  Nothing I do has fixed the problem.  Everything is basically frozen in terms of adding or creating new photostream albums.  That isn't how its supposed to work.  Extremely frustrating.  The articles I read talk about 5000 picture limits per photostream, but I've never been able to get an album past a couple hundred pictures in the past.  I've had this happen before, and each time would "give up" using photostream for a while.  This time, I'm determined to figure out if it really works, and if it doesn't, I'm permanently switching to another service other than Apples.

  • Poor service, incorrect billing, inability to get issue resolved.

Upon my initial purchase of verizon package with dsl high speed internet and phone for only 34.99 per month my services were never installed.  After multiple calls I was told that there was an error that was unresolvable from withing Verizon due to some internal phone transfer problem.  The only resolution was for me to cancel my order and reorder the same service.  I did as told and was then told that I had to pay more for same package as that special had ended an hour earlier.  After much to do they agreed to give me the special and asked me to keep my equipement and not send it back as they would use that equipement instead of sending out a whole set of new equipement.
I did as I was told.  Ater again FOUR call backs the technitian was able to finaly get the service to work.  Now they are sending me a bill saying I didn't send the equipement back.  I WAS TOLD TO KEEP THE EQUIPEMENT!!! The Verizon technitian installed THIS SAME EQUIPMENT!!!!   Now they are sendin a collection agency after me for the same equipement while collecting a monthly service fee for said same equipement.
I have called 6 times now and held for over 20 minutes each time and had to finally hang up each time.  After fighting with the ambiguas sight that does everything it can to avoid letting a customer chat with a person that can help me I finally get a person to chat with.  I was at work at the same time so I did not get back to the guy within a few moments and he cancelled the chat # 01041376694.   Now I can't get back into the chat.  THIS IS INSANE VERIZON!!! Do you understand that I am not just an unhappy customer; I am becoming a hostile customer to your organization as I will be telling everyone I know about this insanely poor service, billing and inability to get help.
Eventually your going to do this to enough customers and Verizon will be a shadow of what it once was.
I know that I will probably not hear from anyone as I am now on hold for 10 minutes now waiting for a human to talk to.  Will probably have to hang up soon when a customer comes into office and yet again not have issue resolved.  Thinking about looking into legal options if your organization damages my credit from your collection agency antics.  Your choice verizon.  I don't even care if you just cancel all the service now.  But you mess with my credit and I will seek all legal rememdy.
    Sincerly,
    Extremly Disgruntled Poorly Treated Customer

I made a 3-minute movie with my iphone 4S. When I attempt to share it via email or message I get a message that says it is too long, that I should try to make a clip. Of course I had rather send the whole thing. What are the possibilities? I think my music and likely my videos and pictures are in the cloud.

  • BT infinity very poor service - what steps to canc...

Any one advise How I can cancel, without penalty, due to poor service?
I had BT Infinity installed end of January 2014 it was fine stable and running at around 65-68mbps until half way through May.
Then speed dropped to 19mbps but worse the connection would repeatedly drop staying up for no more than 5 minutes at a time and taking 10 or more attempts to reconnect. Checking the logs on Hub 5 often it would reconnect over 100 times a day.
I've had and engineer visit once a week now, because thats all India helpdesk can arrange, for over 2 months and each one treats the visit as if it's the first time. All they can do is check my equipment is OK which they all say is fine. If had the line moved to a different card in the street box. I've had 2 replacement Hub 5's.
Eventually in talking to one of the engineers, some are more clued up than others, I heard about RAIN engineers so I practically had to force India support to instigate this. They say they have put this in process but can't seem to report back to me anything from this. I finally got speed up to 30mbps but the connection is still unstable and as of my last call I have yet another engineer to wait in for on Monday (this will be about the 10th time I've wasted half a day!). I know full well and on site engineer can do absolutely nothing but reset the line speed which with the insatbility will drop again. So I've had enough I've been paying for the top package "unlimited data" at a significant price for a service I haven't had for over 2 months and I just want to cancel becuase of this and get a refund for poor service over that time. Every time I try to raise this with India I just get fobbed off as they really have no idea what they are doing and probably don't have the authority to handle this but BT provides no other obvious way to talk to some who can take this request to cancel seriously! Does anyone know who and where I can call, email or write to to get this usless service cancelled?

  • Does Mixing 802.11n with .11g Devices Slow the Whole Network?

    Hi all,
I'm considering buying the new Airport Extreme as I also have a new Macbook Pro that supports 802.11n. I also have a couple Airport Expresses on my network, and my question is this:
Will the presence of the Airport Express units (which are 802.11g) drag the whole network into .11g speeds? I ask this because of this note on the Airport Extreme page:
Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network.
    Thanks for any guidance.

I did this the same way....
I connected my cable modem directly to the WAN port of my new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station. I have selected 'n' only (5GHz). I call this network Saturn.
There are 3 ethernet ports on this new base station. Wired to one of these ports is my 802.11g Snow Airport Extreme Base Station. This base station will handle any 'g' services (like my friends who are using MacBooks/iBooks/PCs). I have 2 AirPort Express base stations that I use to play music on remote speakers, and wireless printing. It also has 2 Linksys wireless USB 'b' devices that connect to it, which 2 of my TiVos use to get their daily updates. I wanted to keep all of this stuff off the 'n' network since I heard it would slow it down. I call this 'g' network Zodiak. I can see both networks in my AirPort menu, and can select either.
In addition, I have an xBox that I connected directly to one of the wired ethernet ports on the 'n' base station, and I have a Linksys switch that is wired to the 'g' base station.
My only complaint is that I can't get to all of this stuff that is on the 'g' network. Which means, if I want to print something, I need to change my network, if I want to play iTunes out of my stereo speakers, I need to change the network, and if I want to use my TiVo to display photos, I need to change networks. I was hoping I'd still be able to get to that stuff since the 'g' network is hard wired into the ethernet port of the 'n' network. Oh well. I'm only on a 6MB Comcast service, so perhaps I'll try mixing the 'g' network in and seeing how bad it affects performance.
I'm getting 2.5 mb/sec on a hard drive transfer...can't imagine that being much worse on 'g'.

  • Poor, poor service and STILL waiting for a callbac...

The following information is a partial capture of the service standards that we have received from BT that has led to our complaint being made. Following this extended period of time we have had to take a considerable amount of our time to try to resolve this issue. We have spent a considerable amount of time waiting for calls that haven’t been forthcoming and waiting for engineers. When we did push for an engineer (otherwise we would be waiting for another week of intermittent service) he showed up and had no notes or any idea why we had requested his call out!
You will notice that the last entry that we have made is for August 31st 2012. We have decided that our time is too important to waste on an organisation that cares so little about their customers that they cannot be bothered to follow up and resolve outstanding issues. The complaint has been sent on September 10th 2012.
Between August 31st and September we have heard nothing about resolving this complaint from BT, despite assurances that that somebody would resolve the issues raised.
The overall standard of service of BT has fallen what I would expect as a basis standard and in many cases has been deliberately evasive and obstructive. Frankly, this is the kind of shabby service that is difficult to reconcile with the image of a cutting edge communications provider in 2012.
We can only emphasise just how let down and disappointed that we are with BT.
    9th August
We experienced intermittent problems with the broadband connections causing issues with BT broadband, Vision and BT Anywhere mobile.
We contacted BT to report the problem. It was confirmed that someone from the Technical Team would look into it.
We spoke with technical team and confirmed that they would complete checks and call back within a specific time.
    10th August
We had continued issues with broadband, vision and mobile. Losing connection every 3-4minutes throughout the day between the hours of 9 and 6
    13th August
We contacted BT again to confirm issues still ongoing and broadband intermittent throughout the day. We were assured that line checks would be carried out and were contacted at 9-45pm to explain that the situation would be resolved.
Various diagnostic attempts were made over this period involving changing filters, unscrewing the phone plate at BT’s request etc…. We were told that it was probably a faulty filter- even though it had been changed…..
I received a call a couple of days later when I was at work and a co-worker dealt with it. He said the call referred to the BT fault but no message was left.
In the meantime we received a call from a marketing team offering to sell us BT infinity ‘at no extra cost’…. This would resolve our issues and we understood this call to be part of the ongoing service issue.
    23rd August. After 6pm
We called through to report a fault again and was on hold for 28 minutes. 13 minutes in I spoke with someone and as I had gone through about the telephone was told it was the wrong department and they would put me through to the broadband team. Total hold time 28 minutes
Asked to speak with a manager
Ashalt came on the phone and said that he would speak with a manager in the ‘level two team’ and find out what was happening. I said that I wanted compensation for the issues and the amount of time that this has taken with both myself and my partner. I said that it was not acceptable for this to have taken over 3 weeks to get this sorted.
He said that he would call me back to discuss compensation as I would definitely receive compensation for this.
I was put on hold and then his operator came back on the phone to say that she was putting me through. I explained that this was not what was agreed and that the manager was going to come back to me. She said that they have my telephone number and would call me after the call.
Was advised would put me through to the Level 2 technical helpdesk as this is where it had been escalated and they would find out when an engineer would be sent around.
Upon being transferred through to Level 2 the lady did not know why I was being put through. I had to explain everything again.
She then completed the following script again:
    Apologies for inconvenience
    Checking the line
    Taking time with the check
    Problem at the exchange
Sent a previous request to the wholesale team and they didn't find a problem
    Send a further request
I explained that we were telephoned to say that due to our complaint they would install BT Infinity as this would help the situation. The lady confirmed that the issue needed sorting out as would still get the same problems.
I asked if i had been miss-sold BT Infinity to which she said yes.
Line test results completed and nothing is showing as an error. Explained that someone would need to come and physically check the line. Then told that if there is a fault in the flat we would be charged £99. I confirmed that we did everything that was asked of us and couldn't understand why it would be in the flat. It was again repeated that if there is a fault in the flat then we would get charged.
The ‘customer service’ operative confirmed that the earliest date for an engineer call out would be Tuesday between 8-1. We suggested that this was not acceptable and that we would be without proper broadband for the whole bank holiday weekend. The lady said that's the earliest available time. She said that she was not sure why an engineer had not been called already
Confirmed that manager a would call back to discuss compensation. We never received call.
    Saturday 24th August
The BT engineer came today and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. The fault appeared to be with the connection from the terminal box outside and how our home line was attached to that. The engineer said that he had no notes relating to why we had called him out and was in the dark initially as to what the problem was. Once again we explained the problem.
We called the cancellation team to find out whether or not there would be any charges related to cancelling all of our BT services. Spoke with John.
John confirmed that there would be a cost of 159.91. I asked John for clarification of this. He said that we entered into a new 18 month contract on the 27th February. I did not know what this was for and asked for the call to be listened to. John said that they would have needed to confirm that there would be a new 18 month contract otherwise it would be invalid. John said it would take 7days for the call to be listened to. I asked for a full transcript of the call and John said that this would be provided. I asked if these were the only charges as we also have a mobile. John said that was the only figure being given to him. John offered to give me the telephone number 0800 169085.
We called this number and were put through to the Welsh Language team - Michelle. She then tried to put s through to the correct department. We then went through to the offshore team who then tried to put us through to the correct Team who then put him through to "I'm sorry the number you dialed has not been recognised".
Called through again to BT 150 number and went through to Rebecca. She managed to find the correct number and put me through to Maureen. Maureen checked the cancellation charges and advised the same figure. Maureen confirmed that she would put a note on the account as well to confirm that this would be the only cancellation charge.
    Correct number 0800 0322111
    12.58
We received a call from a gentleman pertaining to be a manager. When question he had no idea why he was calling me and thought it was just to check that the broadband was working. I explained that this was a complaint and that a manager was to call me back. He admitted he was not a manager. He was called Jude.
Jude transferred me through to Molly who was a manager and the phone was cut off.
Molly then called back. I summarised the situation to her (again) and she confirmed that again it was unacceptable. I asked why I was not receiving a call back from the manager that had promised me the call. She could not comment. I asked why I was receiving the call at the very end of my call back slot as this would mean that I would not have to waste even more of my time. Again she could not comment on this.
She confirmed that she would definitely help with compensation and that we have been reporting the fault since 9th August I confirmed that 160.00 would be a good starting point. I also asked several times that I wanted a full transcript of all of the calls made. This to date has not been forthcoming. I confirmed that I had been lied to on several occasions, had been given incorrect information, had not received callbacks when I had been promised them even by senior managers.
I mentioned that the service appeared to be working. Molly said that they would need to wait 48 hours before been able to close off the overall complaints process.
I asked when we would be discussing the compensation. She put me on hold and said that she would need to speak with the billing team. She then came back on the line to explain that any adjustment would take 48 hours. I said that so basically they haven't said anything and you still need to wait for 48 hours.
She said that she would call me back on Monday. I confirmed that this was a bank holiday and asked if she was actually working on that day. She confirmed that she would. I mentioned again that it was a bank holiday but she said that she was working. She asked me what time I would like a call back. I asked her what time she started work and she said at 8am. I asked for a call back at 8am. She agreed and confirmed to this.
We then received a call on my mobile from apparently Molly's manager confirming that we would get a phone call from Monday between 8-9 o’clock am and that they would call within that timescale.
    Monday Bank Holiday
No call received. Called through to check at 13.47 and advised offices are closed as it was a Bank Holiday
    Tuesday 28th
Call received and missed at 14.38
Call returned by me at 16.54
I requested to speak with the customer complaints manager on hold for 12 minutes.
The operator advised that he wanted to put me through to level 2 technical support. I said that I did not want to go through to them as they were incompetent and incapable of dealing with this situation and it is very disappointing that I am having to call again and chase.
Requested to speak with a manager
Sunny came on the phone and I confirmed that I wanted to make a complaint and that I was not happy. Sunny attempted to put me through to the level two technical team again and I insisted this was not the nature of the call. I wanted to complain. Sunny said that I had not mentioned this and that he could try and deal with the complaint.
I asked to speak with the center manager and advised that his manager was Rhuel. He then said that he was not allowed to give me the name of the center manager as he was not authorised.
I explained also that we were mis-sold BT Infinity as we had received a call confirming that they were calling on the back of our issue and that if we had BT infinity it would rectify this matter. We were later advised that even BT Infinity would not have worked until the issue was rectified.
Complaint finally logged under the following reference:
    VOL012-xxxxxxxxxxx
    Fault logged under reference:
    VOL051-xxxxxxxxxxx
Sunny then advised that I should call the billing team myself as he only had a limit of £10 compensation. I explained that I cannot understand why I needed to do this and that they could not do this as part of the complaints procedure. He said it would be quicker if I did this. We agreed I would call and then he would call me back on Wednesday between 5-6 pm.
    Sunny did not call back.
    Tuesday 28th August 18.22
I went through to billing team and I was offered £16.42. I asked about waiving the £160 charge and was told that I would have known about being entered into a contract again. I confirmed that this was not discussed in the call of the 27 February. I was advised that I would have been sent out information and I should have read it. This ‘information’ has never been received. I confirmed that I was not happy with this and asked about about the compensation for my time and emotional distress. It was explained to me that BT don't give out money for that. I asked to speak with a manger
I was told that Jason Puchowski (who I was told was the manager) was not available and that he would call me back in 48 hours. I explained that this was not acceptable. The operator confirmed that Mr Puchowski would call me back the following day at a time between 2 and 3 pm.
No phone call from Jason was received
    Wednesday 29th August 5.27
I received a call asking me if my broadband has been resolved. Understandably I was very annoyed with this as it was not Sunny or Jason calling me back but one of his team who had no idea of what the problem was. He had not even got another manager to call me back. I asked to speak a manager
I was put through to Sagarika who apparently is Sunny's manager. She said that it was due to personal circumstances that Sunny could not make the call.
I again explained the situation and that a call had not received a call from Jason. She confirmed what I was saying in that the service was unacceptable, upsetting and distressful and that the current offer for compensation was unacceptable.
I repeatedly asked to speak with the Centre Manager which by the terms of your complaints policy I was allowed to ask for this. I was advised that she was not allowed to give out those details.
I asked for the email contact for the center manager as I was putting together the complaint for Offcom and wanted to copy him in. She asked me not to do that and that she would try and resolve this.
Sagarika said that she would look into this to see what she could do and call me back that evening between 7-8 pm.
    No call back received
    Friday 31st August
No call back received from either manager. I had received a text from BT confirming that my direct debits were cancelled. I went online to try and reset them but couldn't do this and went through to the billing team.
Spoke with a very helpful individual who reset my direct debits. I asked if he was aware of a manager called Jason Puchowski. He said that he was. I explained a little to him about the situation and circumstances and he said that he would instant message Jason. A reply came back to say that Jason was away from his desk. Then an email was sent to Jason and the operator, who originally took my call, confirmed that I was calling and that I was very upset. He forwarded to Jason that not only did I not receive a phone call within the agreed time slot but did not receive one within 48 hours.
This was the last communication that we have received from BT on this issue.
The only communications that we have received from BT is to tell us to return their ‘BT Infinity’ box within 2 weeks or we will be liable to pay a fee.
it is now Tuesday 25th September and today I have checked the bill and no compensation or reimbursement has been received.  No telephone call forth coming.

  • How to Delete an iCloud Account's Email (Not the Whole Account, Just the Email)

    Hello,
A couple of years ago, before iCloud was iCloud and was actually MobileMe, I created my own email on it (an @me.com email) and have had it ever since. Even after it became iCloud, i've kept my @me.com email address and have it to this day. I've used it ever since I created it; however, I absolutely hate using it now, and I really want to just get rid of it. I constantly receive spam messages on it, and I have found Gmail to be a much better email service compared to iCloud. I have been trying to figure out how to delete the email itself and not the whole iCloud account; however, I find it very surprising that I haven't been able to find much information about this at all. I know how to delete the whole iCloud account, but all I want to delete is the email. Is there any possible way to do this? Or is my only solution to delete the whole iCloud account? If I deleted the whole iCloud account, would it affect my Apple ID in any way? If I deleted my iCloud account and it does not affect my Apple ID, then would it be possible for me to delete my iCloud account and create a new one without the email?
Currently, I only have an iPod Touch 4th Generation running iOS 5.1.1 (I know. It seems very outdated nowadays. ). I also have a Windows 7 computer that I use to access icloud.com, but I don't have the iCloud program actually installed to it.
Thanks in advance and please help!

Sorry, but I believe there is no way to properly answer your question. Please start a live chat with Apple for assistance as i believe so their the only ones with the power as so, your email is used for recovery, purchase, and more!If it so changed, you'd need to restart your device, also, your best bet is to just to contact apple also.Didn't help?Sorry!Theres really no way...
