Pop email problem since Friday

HI everyone,
I got my z10 a couple of months ago and am with T mobile/EE in the UK.  Everything worked fine til Friday last week. Since then, my Pop email account has been able to pick up emails but not send them - a clock  appears instead of a tick to say they are sent. Going into set up, I am told that the settings are wrong and I need to check them and try again.  My hotmail account works fine, but I can no longer access the junk email, which should be a blessing, you might say, but because I get so much rubbish sent, my hotmail is set to exclusive so I do need to check the junk daily to see if anyone not in my address book has contacted me.  I can live without this, however, but the other issue with my pop account is doing my head in.
T mobile say it is a work-related issue and the settings must have changed. My phone is not a work phone but a private one, but I am part of a franchise so I do have an account loosely related to work though they don't really oversee it. The IT people at head office at any rate say that nothing has changed there and the ports and smtp address etc are still the same and that the other 700 franchisees have not reported any issues with their phones. In the mean time, my phone does not work properly but I am stuck with it on contract as T mobile say they only guarantee phones with non-pop accounts. I see there is a known issue with pop accounts on the z10 but does anyone have any idea when the fix is rolling out to the UK? T mobile told me fixes come out instantaneously across the world but I can see little evidence of this. If there is not a fix and I cannot take it back to t mobile to change it, can I send it to Blackberry?
Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Sarah

The same problem here!
Since the last software update yesterday!
I have 1 Hotmail account (works fine) and 2 pop accounts (I can receive but not send!).

  • Disasterous email problems since switched from Eudora to Mail

On Feb. 1 I switched my broadband from Clear wireless to Comcast and my email client from Eudora to Mac Mail due to its allowing different port settings for my 2 personal email addresses which are forwarded and my business address which is not. I had occasional problems of not receiving certain emails but not constant. Now I figure about a quarter of my emails incoming and outgoing are disappearing forever without any bounce back messages. I even set up exclusive new email addresses on my server for a couple of my writers, some of whose mail I failed to get. Even one of those emails was lost. My business is threatened. Help!
I have received conflicting advice from AppleCare, Comcast, my hosting firm and others. Neither Comcast nor my hosting co. are filtering anything, according to them. Emails I fail to receive never get to the server - they are supposedly lost somewhere out there. My senders are not blocking mail because most of my msgs and theirs get thru. Lost emails never appear in the Junk folder. I use POP, Authorization, not SSL. My hosting says I should use Port 26 for outgoing; they won't say what to use for incoming. AppleCare says to use Port 110 for outgoing on my personal email addresses and to use the ISP that forwards them for the Incoming: mail.aracnet.com We still use Eudora on the MacBook so it's difficult to compare and test Mail settings.
I'm trying to work with Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to get my Address Book properly copied over. Mac Mail totally wrecked it, but I don't know how to delete that bad import first.

Really appreciate your assistance! My hosting people are being no help at all. I'm very familiar with "edit server list" - have been there often. It is my hosting person who tells me their logs show that none of the various emails I failed to receive on the first sending - for which I expand the headings and forwarded to him - have ever reach their server and therefore something's going wrong "out there" and they're not responsible. He even just suggested I sign up with gmail for my email service since I've been so much trouble to him. I've had an email address on my own server for ten years now - [email protected] - and don't want to change it!
I corrected the terrible instructions I got from AppleCare and reversed my incoming and outgoing server settings to audaud.com for regular email and to mail.aracnet.com SMPT for my two personal email addresses I want to send thru Aracnet. (and am paying them to forward them to the audaud.com server). However, when I just tried to reply to an email I received to [email protected] I got a warning I never saw before: (Thought I could attach a screenshot of it but can't seem to) It says "cannot send the message using the server audaud.com." Yet a few minutes later I sent an email to several of the writers for my site and it was sent. The settings were the same!
My hosting people told me to use Port 26 for sending but they refuse to tell me which port to use for INCOMING mail (using POP). Maybe the port settings are fouling me up, but why do they cause problems only part of the time? I don't use SSL.
Doesn't everyone receive via their email client "all the emails that get to the server?" Again: any directions on deleting the non-working import of the Eudora Address Book and doing it again properly with Eudora Mailbox cleaner?

  • Droid Incredible and GoDaddy POP email problems.  Please HELP!!!!!

My prior phone (LG Touch) used mobile email and I accessed my GoDaddy mail account with no problems.
I just got the HTC Droid Incredible and was on the phone for hours with tech support with no resolution.
I am able to receive email but cannot send it.  This almost makes this smartphone worthless to me.
    Here are my settings:
Incoming POP server:  pop.secureserver.net  (Port 110 with no security)
Outgoing SMTP Server:  smtpout.secureserver.net (Port 25 or 80)
Incoming Works.  Outgoing does not.  I can't believe this is a problem considering GoDaddy is the largest hosting
company in america.  They assure me that the problem is not on their end.
The only thing I can do at this point is use the GoDaddy app to send and receive email.  This sucks cause there are
extra steps involved and it's obviously not as nice as the built-in email feature for this phone.
Has anyone encountered this problem with the outgoing mail using GoDaddy?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Have you tried K9 for email?  You should!
You should be ok using port 80, security type: None, and                           try checking require sign-in

  • Icloud email down since friday

is anyone else having issues with their email? I am getting a password error all of a sudden on all devices (iphone, upad, mba and imac).  I changed my password and can login on to the icloud site so I know thats not the issue.  Started a chat with apple support on Sunday afternoon, who told me there was maintenance happening and that service could be down for 24-48 hours from friday and that service would be back up sunday night.  Guess what..........we are now at end of day monday and service is still down.  Is anyone else having this issue? or is it just me?

I'm been a paying mac.com customer for years.  Nice of them to convert to a free service but 'service' has gone down the tubes.
    Getting right to it:
    - Mail went bye bye on Saturday night
    - Spent 8 hours yesterday researching trying solutions
    - 6:30pm last evening got appt at Genius bar at my local Apple store
    - Full hour there (45 mins of which was on the phone with specialist after specialist)
    - Ultimately, they said it is being escalated to a super-dooper specialist and they will call me today at noon Eastern (umm... an hour ago)  NOTHING
    Would be nice if:
    a) acknowledge that they have a problem; instead it's "we never saw this problem before"
    b) system status was updated and accurate
    c) a way to get back in touch with Apple, no ticket #, no phone number nothing
[the part you can take from this] I've tried everything and CAN get onto iCloud just fine, can view calendary and phonebook just fine (in the iCloud).  The problem is obviously that their Mailserver is offline.
I work in IT and deal with DR situations, scheduling migrations, etc. constantly so understand the difficulties; If it was indeed system maintenance, notice would have been handy; if it was a failure, I would think that the service would be back by now; if this is actually a cloud, they ought to be able to bring the workload up elsewhere.
I will update this with the Apple response once resolved, hopefully it will help others but based on what I've read it will just magically start working at some point in the future.

  • Nokia C3-01 Email problem since changing sim

A year ago I bought a Nokia C3-01 from 3 and accessed my hotmail via the mail option in messaging without a problem. I have since had Three unlock my phone using the unlock code and I've now put in a Tesco Mobile sim. The internet is working fine but when I select mail now it asks me to accept the terms of the service which i select "accept" and it then asks me to select internet connection.
The options I get are my home Wireless internet and below is Default AP. It then says "Checking for mail service updates" and then reports a communication failure.
    What is wrong?

The options are "Read First" or "Accept". Read first goes to a website with the terms and conditions on.
I suspect(I could well be wrong) it may be that I'm lacking the Access point details for TescoMobile. If I go to settings then configuration and select "Preferred access point" there's a "3" one I can select but none for TescoMobile.
I've had them resend me the Internet settings twice today which they did and I got them fine but no change.

  • TS3899 Email problem since upgrading to IOS6

Since upgrading my iPad to IOS6, I can no longer download Email from my ISP.  I checked settings and they appear to be the same on another device running IOS5 (and works fine.)  I any ideas on setting quirks that I may be missing?

Have just read some other threads, and it suggested deleting then reinstalling my gmail account, which worked.
    Thanks!

  • Does anyone have email problems since downloading IOS6 to IPhone??

I downloaded the new IOS6 software to my IPhone 4 last week and cannot SEND nor DELETE email from it. I can receive only. I downloaded the same to my IPad and THAT WORKS FINE...I spent hours, no DAYS on the horn with Apple and they cannot resolve this issue (???!!!!!) and its driving me crazy. They're telling me to check with my web hosting company, who handles my domain and email (and have for many years) and there are no issues there. Why would it only work on the IPad (and my PC also fine by the way) and NOT the IPhone? This is obviously an Apple prolblem that they're trying to sidestep and blame a 3rd party! ANY help apreciated! This is an IMAP and not POP3 since I was told I could more easily coordinate email between PC, IPhone and IPad (which proved to be correct), UNTIL NOW!!

I have an exchange account and a yahoo account and have no issues since I've updated to the new IOS.
If you can't send email - first place i would check is to see if you can enter a password for your outgoing mail server, same password as your incoming mail server.
if that doesn't work, then delete the account, then reset your phone and then enter the account again.

  • Email problems since upgrading to ios6 - please help!

  • POP Email Problems for ATT/Yahoo

To Everyone with ATT or subsidiary of ATT
I'm Posting this as a possible fix for people with Yahoo accounts merged with other providers.
ATT (including bellsouth and others under ATT) used yahoo mail servers. They have new servers for POP3 Mail. I believe Verizon did the same.
Check your ISP website for the latest server addresses and port settings.
For AT&T including Bellsouth, SBC, etc., setting are:
Email server settings (POP and SMTP)
AT&T email server settings are needed if you intend to use an email program (e.g. Outlook) with your AT&T email accounts. The current settings are displayed in the table below. If you only use AT&T Webmail to access your AT&T email accounts, these settings are not needed and you can access your mail by logging in athttps://login.yahoo.com/.
If you signed up for a free att.net email account after 6/12/11, you will not be able to use an email program (e.g., Outlook) with your AT&T email account.
Note: AT&T's POP/SMTP settings have recently changed to inbound.att.net andoutbound.att.net. However, if you are using the old settings, they will continue to work.
    The following mail server settings will work with all AT&T email domains: @ameritech.net, @att.net, @bellsouth.net, @flash.net, @nvbell.net, @pacbell.net, @prodigy.net, @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @swbell.net, @wans.net.
    Email Program Settings Field:
    Enter:
    Incoming (POP)
    inbound.att.net
    Outgoing (SMTP)
    outbound.att.net(requires authentication)
    Incoming mail server:
    POP3
    Incoming/Outgoing User Name:
Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g.,[email protected], [email protected])
    Incoming mail port #:
    995, secure connection (SSL) checked
    Outgoing mail port #
    465, secure connection (SSL) checked
Note: When updating the secure server settings, check the SSL check box first and then update the port number if necessary.
    In addition: Verzion settings are:
    Mail server settings
    Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.verizon.net
    Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465  Why is this important?
    Your Verizon Online user name
    Your Verizon Online password
Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked.

I think you're right John, it's not in pop mail settings.
I have just added one of my accounts again to see what happens next, there is no push option, Cheers for trying to help me. John.
Just an update, I am having a text conversation with someone and that e-mail account just downloaded my e-mails ! ! I didn't ask it to... argh....

  • EMail problem since Mavericks

Heretofore I was able to just enter the firsl letter or two from my contacts list in order to have the address put on the email I will be sending. Now this does not work any more and I have to copy each address and paste it on the email manually. Is there any way to go back to the earlier favored method?

What happens when you try to send?
If you hit the blue + at the right end of the BCC field, are the names displayed?

  • IPhone 6 email problem since iOS 8.2

    Hi all,
I currently have three email accounts on my phone, two exchange emails for work and a hotmail for personal emails.  I upgraded to iOS 8.2 at the weekend and everything had been working fine until they stopped synching this morning.  After reading up for reasons on this I decided to delete the accounts and try to install them again.  This has worked for the Hotmail accounts but I now can not even add the Exchange accounts.
Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have any tips?  I have tried to reset the network settings and this has also proved unsuccessful.
    Many Thanks
    Pete

    Hi Pete1436,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that after deleting your Exchange accounts from you iPhone, you are having difficulty setting them back up. To ensure the proper set up steps are being followed, I would suggest reading over and working through the steps provided in the attached article.
Set up Exchange ActiveSync on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • Problem sending pop email

I have a problem sending (not receiving) pop email.
I am connected directly to my ISP (virgin.net, part of virginmedia.com) on adsl – (ie not trying to connect via another isp) - sharing the internet connection wirelessly via a modem/router to 2 Macs (macbooks), a Vista laptop and wiredly to an XP desktop.
The problem only happens with the Macs, not the Windows machines. One of the Macs is running Tiger with mail 2.1.3, the other Leopard with mail 3.2. Both are affected.
The problem only arises when trying to send longer messages (a few paragraphs - not MB). There is no problem sending short (one or two word) messages. I'm not sure where the cutoff comes.
What happens is that the messages are simply timed out, after a lengthy attempt to send. The error message is generally
‘The server response was: 4.4.2 omf09.hostedemail.com Error: timeout exceeded ‘
but sometimes (more recently, perhaps as a result of all the fiddling I describe below)
‘An error occurred while delivering this message via the SMTP server "(null)" ‘
This started on Friday 30th May. That day we woke up to find we were unable to receive email either. Looking at the mail accounts, I saw that the (incoming) authentication had spontaneously(?) changed from "password" to MD5 challenge response. Since returning it to password, we've been able to receive mail on both machines.
We only noticed the problem with sending a few days later as we hadn’t tried to send any longer messages; so it’s not absolutely certain that it’s related – but it seems likely.
We can send pop email from our googlemail accounts. We can also use virgin’s webmail with no problems.
This is what I’ve tried to resolve the problem:
checked that the server etc settings are configured according to Virgin’s instructions at
    http://www.virginmedia.com/help/email/set-up-pop-email.php#OS_X103
(on the advice of support there) deleted one of the affected accounts (and also removed the smtp server from the server list) and recreated it. No effect.
Installed Thunderbird and set up the same account. Same problem there.
Used Connection Doctor – shows connections to all servers as green
Rebooted the modem/ router, and both machines
    Repaired permissions
    Nothing seems to help.
I’ve done all this on the Tiger mac, on the theory that once I find the solution there is will also apply to the Leopard one ie that it’s not a glitch of some recent Leopard update.
Because the Windows machines (and webmail) work fine, Virgin clearly think that this is simply a Mac problem. I suspect that they have changed something in their setup, as it seems unlikely that it would otherwise affect two Macs running different versions of OSX in the same way.
I’ve only recently persuaded my wife to switch to a Macbook after her experience of Vista so this is not only annoying but embarrassing!
    David

I have a Mac and have had the same problem with Virgin – I have been unable to send emails of more than about 300 words, or any replies or attachments, since May 30, the day Virgin “improved” their email services. Receiving emails and using webmail are not affected. Virgin’s helpline has been totally unhelpful, refusing to accept that it has anything to do with them or that some other Mac users are affected in the same way. Their fault team insists it’s a problem with my computer. I have O.S. 10.5.3 Leopard, having just upgraded, but the problem occurred when I was still on O.S. 10.4. Tiger. My email program is Entourage (which Virgin’s helpline hasn’t even heard of!). When the problem first occurred, I wasn’t able to send any emails, but by changing the Accounts advanced settings to what Virgin recommended when I phoned them, I could at least send short emails. (Their announcement of the email changes said, “Don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything.”) Virgin are trying to put a huge spin on this shabby treatment of Mac customers by saying, “We’re doing lots of things to make your experience with us even better” – but with friends like this, who needs enemies?
