Popping in Youtube, other flash videos

I've been having an annoying problem for a while, any YouTube or other flash videos I watch have terrible audio, it pops roughly once a second but exactly how often is slightly irregular. It happens in both Safari and Firefox. Searching here and the web in general I see other people mentioning the same problem, but I haven't seen a solution.

Indeed this solved the problem within browser, but.. like many others, I still get clicks and pops in iTunes and GarageBand. I completely rebuilt my system thinking something just got jacked up at some point, but.. completely fresh install (not a time machine restore) and the problems are still there.
Interestingly enough, I'm also experiencing MAJOR latency issues when using using mouse and keyboard generated sounds (musical typing, etc) in GarageBand. I press a key once or twice.. I hear the sound(s).. I press it again, and stutter ensues. It's inconsistent, but.. pressing a key more than once or twice produces a stuttered response, and sometimes, no sound at all. It's as if it can't handle it. But my hardware hasn't changed, and it used to work just fine.
For the record: pops and clicks during audio playback of music in my iTunes library... that's it! I don't have a single device other than an external hard drive connected to my system (no Motu, or anything else even remotely akin). So, it's not like I'm having trouble monitoring a live recording, or when I playback what I've recorded... all I'm doing is previewing audio from iTunes Library. Which prevents me from using GB to do any audio editing.
These problems started when I upgraded to Leopard.. everything was fine in Tiger.

  • 10.7.4 update causes YouTube and Flash video Errors?

Since updating to 10.7.4 yesterday, I've noticed that YouTube and other online Flash videos stutter, stop and continue playing, or pause frequently. Has anyone else noticed this bug? I'm using the newest version of Chrome but tried Safari as well and noticed the same kind of bug. If anyone has a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

File a bug report with Apple.

  • Important News For Those Who Use Hulu And Other Flash Video Websites.

Adobe will release the next update to the Adobe Flash software in the next few weeks and that update will bring better GPU video decoding acceleration for Windows if you have recent graphics hardware from ATI, Nvidia, or Intel. This update is VERY important for those who use laptops which have less powerful processors and hardware than desktops usually do. In order to take advantage of this update when it comes out, you MUST have the latest graphics cards drivers for your hardware. ATI, Nvidia, and Intel will all be releasing new drivers  specifically for the updated Flash software so keep an eye on the respective websites for your graphics hardware maker. Of those companies, only Intel and Nvidia have drivers available for testing at the moment, but ATI is not far behind.

You may be able to disable Flash entirely and just use HTML 5 video codecs to view the videos this is faster but you may lose access to some videos such as ones that have mandatory advertisements.

  • Youtube/Flash videos play but with no sound

I have gone through other posts both here and elsewhere trying to fix this issue.
It happened, so far as I can tell, after the most recent set of updates that I installed (less than a week ago; my computer is set to update every month). Youtube and any other Flash videos online will play the video, but the sound option has a red x on it and does not allow me to have any sound with the videos. This occurs both in Safari and Firefox.
Videos played through Quicktime (even .flv files downloaded from Youtube) play just fine, without any problems at all.
I have changed the Audio Midi settings, uninstalled/reinstalled Flash player (and repaired disk permissions), reset PRAM, opened up Garageband/Quicktime/All other audio programs, and to no avail.
I am running 10.6.6 on an iMac G5. My other iMac G5, which had the same set of updates installed, does not have this issue, which makes it even more baffling.
I am almost to the point of backing up the computer's contents and doing a clean install of the system, but that seems like an overkill solution.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Flash video can not be loaded

Using Captivate 6, when I make any changes to an already published project that contains flash video, upon republishing I get a pop up stating "The flash video can not be loaded. The output may not be proper."  It only happens when I make a change to a previously published project. Every time I encounter this problem, my only fix is to delete each flv and re-insert the video, and republish. Any ideas?

    Hi there
You say it's intermittent. The bane of any troubleshooting.
Have you asked your server peeps to get involved?

  • Update Safari 3.1.1 disables youtube and flash viewing in general

There appears to be a theme emerging on these forums of updating safari 3.1.1 causing youtube and flash video content to not display even after uninstalling Flash and reinstalling.
I have tried to reinstall 10.4.11 combo update as well as Safari 3.1.1 which always fails. I recently had to do an archive and install.... and computer was working beautifully with Safari 3.1 now after update BUG City!!!! Mozilla and Netscape work just fine with flash content. I have deleted plist Safari... repaired permissions etc, etc to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas at all???? This is really annoying Apple.... do you hear me?

Just to let you all know I had to ...unfortunately..... archive and reinstall my OS ..again for the past time in two weeks...to fix the problem. I now have everything working again with Safari except I have yet to update with 3.1.1. (I now have version 3.0.4.) I have re updated to 10.4.11 combo PPC still no problem but I am definitely fixing permissions after each update and checking things more meticulously. I'm not sure if I should update to 3.1.1..a little gun shy now. Anyway, I tried every thing posted to fix the problem and the reality is that Archive and Install was the only fix that really worked. Sorry!!! The update with 3.1.1 originally looking at the reports must have corrupted the Webkit and core systems in OSX. Any feedback I hope this helps all of you with the same problems with Safari. Let me know. Thanks for listening to me VENT!!!!

  • This laptop cannot run Flash video on the BBC website

On this Vista laptop, I try to watch video of the Japan earthquake on the BBC website. But each video just shows a momentary red swirl, and then stays black.
I have the identical problem on FF4.0RC, and there I can also run it in 'Safe Mode', with all addons disabled. With or without addons, it behaves the same as 3.6.15; no video.
However, on the W7 laptop beside the Vista one, everything is fine, and the video runs in all three combinations there.
The Vista laptop will show Flash video from YouTube perfectly OK, so it seems to be something to do with how the BBC site presents video.
However, as the W7 laptop has no problems with the BBC site, it seems to be some configuration issue on the Vista laptop, rather than a general Firefox or BBC problem, or indeed, anything to do with my broadband set-up. (I'm guessing it's more subtle that just Vista vs. W7 here, as there are many other differences between the two laptops).
I have watched video on the BBC site in the past, but that was a few Firefoxes ago. I also note the BBC videos will not run in IE8 on this laptop at the moment, though they are fine on the W7 laptop in IE9 (though I don't think the 9 has anything to do with it)
Has anyone any suggestions as to what might be stopping the Vista laptop from showing the BBC videos?

BBC iPlayer relies on Adobe Air. AIR 1.5.3 is the last version of AIR that supports Mac PowerPC and Windows 2000. AIR applications that require AIR 2 or later cannot be installed or used on a Macintosh PowerPC or a computer running the Windows 2000 operating system.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85304.html
I am in the same boat. I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, although all other flash videos (YouTube for example) are fine.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have anabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 10.1.102.64 in TenFourFox and it works just fine.

  • Have reset Firefox & completed all of steps in "Flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites", but video still won't work. Help!

I have reset Firefox, completed all the steps in "flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites". And the video still won't play in full screen. It will play, but frequently stops or sound continues and picture freezes. I have noticed that if I continually move my mouse, it plays fine. All these videos play fine in IE and Chrome.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • As apple does not support Adobe flash how do I watch youtube other  videos and play games?

As apple does not support Adobe flash how do I watch youtube other  videos and play games?

There is a YouTube built-in app for watching those videos. If you can't find the app (it can't be deleted), then check that it's not hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > YouTube.
For videos on other sites then you might find that some of them (probably more so if they are news sites) have their own apps in the App Store which might let you get some of the content that you want (and there is the built-in YouTube app). Also there are browsers such as Skyfire which 'work' on some sites - but judging by the reviews not all sites. If you want to play flash games then you are probably out of luck if you want to play on-line though the iSwifter app might work on some of them, but again some flash games have app versions in the store.

    Repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the menu bar, quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, install the v10.5.8 combo update.

  • When I try to play a flash video (like youtube) i have to click a flash button several times before it works. Why do flash videos not recogonize any clicks without several tries first?

When I try to go to a flash video, the video player never seems to recognize my mouse clicks without several tries.
It's hard to explain but if I'm at a youtube video and i place my cursor over the button that lets you skip around the video, the cursor will alternate being a cursor (like its not recognized) and a hand like its supposed to. It's sort of keeps flickering between the two if I move the mouse around on that little skip button.
I tried uninstalling firefox but it didn't make a difference. I noticed it after updating to the newer firefoxe updates. This does not happen under IE.
    thank you for your help.

    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web link}

I have a macbook pro running snow leopard. Just recently I cannot view youtube videos and other online videos. I recently updated my flashplayer plugin and I believe that is the problem. Is the latest flashplayer plugin compatible with 10.6.8? If this is so, I need to find an older flash player plugin to reinstall. I do not want to upgrade from 10.6.8 at this time because I have 18 yrs. worth of financial records on Quicken that I have read will not work with Lion and I've read bad things about running music programs on Maverick.

    1)  Quicken 2007 for Intel (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks) is a full featured app that can be downloaded from Intuit for $15 and will work with your data file if you are using Quicken 2005, 2006 or 2007 (if you version is earlier, let me know for more instructions on easy conversion):
    http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
    2) Partition your hard drive, or add an external hard drive and install Mavericks there and "dual-boot" to operate your music programs in Snow Leopard and experiment with them in Mavericks.
DO NOT install Mavericks over Snow Leopard!

  • Flash video performance poor in Firefox 3 and other newer Gecko-based browsers; fails to detect mouse movement in full-s

Regardless of configuration, I have found Flash video
performance on Firefox 3 to be severely sub-par. Numerous visual
lags occur throughout a typical Youtube video as it cannot seem to
manage to maintain a steady frame rate. When in full-screen, mouse
movement is not detected, forcing me to click in a full-screen
Vimeo video in order to display its controls when I should have
only needed to move the mouse. I was informed that the technical
explanation for this is that Flash isn't triggering MouseEvents
    other than MouseEVENT.CLICK.
In my tests, this behavior also occurred in Flashplayers 9
and 10 as well as with recent versions of other browsers that also
use the Gecko rendering engine, namely Camino, Flock and Songbird,
but not in Firefox 2. I was told by a Mozilla employee that this
issue can only be solved by Adobe.
This has forced me to use the Safari browser as my only
available work-around. I implore that these issues get resolved as
    quickly as possible.

guys, im exactly experience the same issue here.. any
    solution guys? tks in advantage..

  • No Sound in Flash Videos but other sounds work fine.

    OS - Win 7 Enterprise sp1
    Flash Player version - 11.1.102.55
RealTek High Def audio driver ver - 6.0.1.6201
Rolling out a new Image for our offices, everything seemed ok then someone was complaining about no sound.  Turns out  Flash Videos(youtube) play but if you unplug the headphones and plug them back in you don't get audio unless your refresh the page.  This behaviour only occurs in Flash videos, Windows sounds ok, Media played through Media player ok, Quick time ok, just the Flash videos are affected.  I havent' been able to find a solution.
Most up to date audio drivers,Flash player.
As a side note, I did a install of nothing but Windows 7 and it does the same thing so there isn't anything I'm adding.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Mark

If I understand properly, the audio will play all the time if you don't unplug the headphone while you are playing the flash video, then it works?  It only doesn't work when you unplug the headphone and put it in while Flash Video is playing?  And the workaround is refresh the page.
This sounds like the expected behavior in the current player.
If you think this is bug need to take care, you can post it to http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer/using_flashplayer (release player forum) or log a bug in the bugbase.
    Thanks,
    Calise
