Populating a field using rule generator adapter

Hi
How a form field is populated using Rule Generator Adapter. And what we should do if we want the same field do not appear in the form, though it's value should be participate in task(create user update user etc).

See if this help you in gaining more understanding.
PrePopulate Adapter: They are mapped with the fields of process form and are used to prepopulate the fields value during the resource provisioning.
RG Adapter: A RG Adapter incoporates business rules to the fields of either OIM user form or user defined form so that these fields can be automatically populated
and saved to the database. You can use the RG & Entity Adapter to construct the userid from the firstname and lastname fields and prepopulate it.
Difference:
While both these adapter can be used to prepopulate values but RG Adapter has one to one mapping with the RG adapter and custom field. An RG Adapter once
attached to a field cannot be attached with another field thus preventing adapter reuse. Beside this, no other type of adapter can be associated with that custom
field.In contrast, the PrePopulate adapter can be reused and attached with multiple fields.

Problem in rule generator adapter

Here i've got one problem while creating rule generator adapter to validate my customized field, the class referred by the adapter is simple, which requires a minimum length of the field is 6, however, I have no idea about how to tell Xellerate whether the validation is success or not, going through the OIM documents without luck,should i return some specific value that Xellerate understands or throw some kind of exception? please help me!

Rule-Generator Adapter is not being triggered

I have created a rule-generator adapter and assigned it to pre-insert and pre-update of a process form (mapped the return value to process form field) but the system does not trigger the adapter when I add the resource to user. Any ideas why this happens?

I tried with an entity adapter but the effect is the same (restarted the server). It looks like the system does trigger the pre-insert and pre-update events. Any ideas?

Please explain me whats the use of rule generator adapter where entity adapter and prepopulate adapter does all the functions of a rule generator.

You are correct in stating the functionality of the oim adapter types is overlapping. The documentation describes the recommended classification types of the adapters while you can achieve the same functionality by creating some other adapter type in similar fashion.
I would suggest you to use the recommended approach as mentioned in the documentation.

Pick last 2 char of a field using rule file

Hi
I may be missing out anything but i need some help on this.
I have column with city and state : city<space>State
the state is 2 character while city name is of varied length starting from two to ten characters.
Now i need to pick up last two characters of state using rule file.
example of data:
Glendale WI
NA NJ
New York NY

Populating Text Field using Dynamic Actions is not working

I've a Select List (P14_ACCOUNT) and Text Field (P14_BILLING_ADDRESS_1) on a form. On selecting a value on the Select List, I've to populate the Text Fields by fetching its values from the database by using the Select List value as the primary key. To do this, I created a Dynamic Actions (Advanced) on the Select List, with event onchange and Set Value as SQL. However this is not working.
Below are the sqls of Select List and Dynamic Action respectively:
select ACCOUNT_NO || ' - ' || COMPANY_NAME display_value, ACCOUNT_ID return_value
from ACCOUNT
order by 1
select a.address1 from account a where a.account_id = :P14_ACCOUNTNow when I substitute the Dynamic Action sql with any of the below sqls, the value shows up:

select user from dualI thought of seeing the value of :P14_ACCOUNT in session or debug, but session does not show any value and on clicking debug it throws a popup message "Debugging is not enabled for this application."
I've been trying since few hours but with no luck. How can I debug further?

Cannot process a Fixed Field Length file using the File Adapter (Sender)

Hi -
I have checked throughout these posts and blogs but I still have not been able to find a solution to my issue. When using the File Adapter (Sender) I get a Conversion initialization failed with "xml.keyfieldName", no value found. Why would I require a key field when I am using fixed field lenghts? The file is comprised of 2 structures - 1 header and multiple details (see below). There are no key fields in the flat file that I would be able to use. Any suggestions?

you can use the module from which u can convert your structure to

Please note the extra H,D in the struture added by the module.
You can then use them as your key fieldValues.. The module should be deployed in Visual Admin and then can be used in the Module tab of your adapter CC
While writing the content conversion after that please dont forget about the added new characters
Please note also that i can find that the word supplier kept repeating in all the Dtachkp records

Also if you feel that the field is of 13 characters and that would cause a problem dont worry... create a dummy field eg split tht 13 to two fields and use the common one as key field Value and identifier... as i see in ure case its like 500 Supplier , 502 Supplier . u can split the first 4 char and the remaing 9 char are key field value.

OIM Target reconciliation - Applying logic on field used in reconciliation rule

Hi All,
I am working on OIM 11g R1. We are doing target accounts reconciliation from AD using OOTB connectors. samAccountName is the field used for reconciliation matching rules. Now my requirement is to apply some logic on this field(For ex: Removing whitespaces at the end of the field value or adding 0 as prefix) before the reconciliation rules are evaluated to find the match in OIM.
Could someone help me on implementing this.

Dequeue (using a AQ Adapter) based on a "Variable" condition

I use an AQ Adapter to dequeue messages from an AQ and send it to an BPEL process. I have setup the adapter for conditional dequeuing as follows:
My message object has a field called "title" so in my adapter i use the Dequeue condition as below and it works perfectly:

I have tried some of the below ways to get this working but have not been successful so far. Has anyone tried this before?

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CREATE AN XSD FILE (TO BE USED BY SOAP ADAPTER)

I have a simple scenario.
OUTBOUND DATA --> SOAP ADAPTER --> ( XI ) --> RFC ADAPTER --> INBOUND DATA
The XML file that I got from mapping area of IR (Design) is as follows

If you notice, there are only 2 fields.
I need to create an XSD file and import it as an external object, which I can use for SOAP Adapter.
Which is the best way to create it.
Also, I need to know if there is any step by step of sending a message from XML SPY. I have downloaded this software, but am not able to undertand how to use this.

IDoc posted in R/3 but data for Date field has not generated.

This is JDBC to IDoc scenarion.
Source: MS SQL Server
Date Data Type: smalldatetime
Date field Format: yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss --> example: 2009-11-13 00:00:00
XI Mapping: Source Date --> Transformation --> Target Date
Transformation: yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss to yyyyMMdd
Target: R/3 System
Date Data Type: ERDAT from VBAK table - Date on Which Record Was Created
Date field Format: Date field (YYYYMMDD) stored as char(8)
Check points:
1. Mapping is working fine in XI and transformation is done with the test data: 2009-11-13 00:00:00 --> to ---> 20091113
2. In SXMB_MONI the data is processed from the source and the IDoc XML data is generated. In the IDoc XML data the date field is containing the value <DATE>20091113</DATE>
3. But when I tried to open the IDoc(SE05) in R/3 the date field is empty and no data is generated.
Request you to let me know why the error is happening.

Hi Ram,
First try to test the same IDOC generated in ECC Box by populating date field value using WE19 and test .
Or
Instead of passing date value from SQL Server, Just give a try with Current Date function in Mapping and test in ECC system.
then we can think on further analysis.

Using a variable in "arrayTerminatedBy" clause while using a file adapter

Hi All,
How can read a file of sample shown below using a file adapter.
ABC|20081010|
2008|xxxxxxx|
2007|yyyy|
2009|zzzzzzz|
3|20081010|
first line is the header
last line is footer
middle portion is the body
'3' in the footer is the total no of record count in the body
I am able to read the header and body.
The problem i am facing is; when it is reading the footer it is treating the footer as a record in the body and is throwing an error stating - expected the format as "yyyy"
I have to use "arrayTerminatedBy" to indicate the end of the body. But that terminating field is a varying field. How can i use this variable field in the "arrayTerminatedBy" clause.
Can any one help in reading this file

See if this helps, I haven't tested it but it will give you a hint in how to achieve it. As you can see I use the startsWith command. I'm not sure how to handle your detail as it seems to start with different elements every time.

Setting CC field in Sender Mail Adapter

Hi,
I am on SP16, and using Sender Mail Adapter.
I need to retrieve the CC field from the mail.
I have set the Adapter-Specific Message Attributes. ie.
Set Adapter-Specific Message Attributes, and Variable Transport Binding boxes are checked.
When I do this, the Communication Channel does not throw any error, but the message is not visible in SXMB_MONI.
How do I retrieve the CC field?

I was unable to view the Message Monitoring in RWB yesterday. Now I checked under the Message Monitoring tab, and I see the following error:
