Populating list of states in a dropdown based on selected country

Hi all
I am making some modifications in tabbed user form.
I have a dropdown field for countries and a dropdown list for states.
Now based on value selected for country, corresponding countries should be displayed in the states dropdown list.
How this is possible in the form?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Ashok

The classic way is to create a rule to provide a list of states/regions depending on the country (usually given as argument)
this rule is used in the allowed values property of the drop down box.
best to make the country select box an actioned field so a change of selected country forces the re-evaluation of the region select box values.

  • Populate a dropdown based on selected in another dropdown in a seperate table

    Good Day All;
    This may sound like a simple question to most, but… It has had me frustrated trying to figure out.
    I am trying to populate a dropdown based on what is selected in another dropdown.
    Let me explain what I have done so far.
    LifeCycle Designer 8.05.2
    When I had both dropdowns in the same table, I did not have a problem. The code I used is
    Table name is “Table1”
    if(directorate.rawValue == "1")
    division.clearItems();
    division.addItem("select")
    I was asked to move things around and now “division” is located in “Table2”
    I know I need to reference “Table1” but I am running into a Syntax error. I have tried the following code;
    if(Table1 Row1 directorate.rawValue == "1")
    division.clearItems();
    division.addItem("Faire un choix")
    if(Table1.Row1.directorate.rawValue == "1")
    division.clearItems();
    division.addItem("Faire un choix")
    Any help would be appreciated

    You're missing a semicolon at the end of the addItem line, and on the second code sample you've got no periods in the SOM reference (Table1 Row1 directorate).
    The easiest way to get the path to another field is to ctrl-click on the field while you are in the script editor.

  • Populating a text field in a form based on selection from a list field?

    Hello,
    I'm using Acrobat 9 on a mac.
    In the list field users choose their hospital name. I then want the address associated with this hospital to populate a text field. Where do I enter the hospital addresses and the "script" (if hospital X then this address)? I've copied this list field and am using it in multiple places on the form by utilizing "global binding" and this is working well.
    Also, can the choices in a list field "drop down" or is the only option available a "click through?"
    Thanks in advance for your help!!

    hi, i've seen this problem before but can't remember what the solution was...

  • Population of a dropdown based on another dropdown selection

    Hi,
    I'm trying to develop a form in which a secondary dropdown is populated based on a selection from a primary dropdown.
    The idea behind this is as follows
    The first dropdown is bound to a database.
    From this dropdown a user would select a project.
    This selection would form part of a 'WHERE' clause in a SQL query that would select a list of users involved in the project.
    This list of users would then be used to populate the second dropdown.
    By selecting a user from the second dropdown the database would be queried again and the result used to populate the rest of the form.
    I've seen examples where a single dropdown is used to populate a form but I've been unable to find any code examples in which the result of one dropdown is used to populate a second.
    Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance.

    You can get pretty close out of the box using some configuration manager applet voodoo
    1)First off create a Table that will contain the options for your list. Create the columns e.g. label and id and then also create a column called dSecurityGroup
    2)Add a view based on the table you just created, choose the Security tab and select "Use standard document security"
    3)Add some values to your view - make sure that you populate the dSecurityGroup column with real values of security groups
    4)Once it is all published, have a look at the checkin and search screens. You should find that UCM will evaluate the options in the same way it would documents - based on the dSecurityGroup value you applied to the row - e.g. you will see an option on the search screen if you have at least R permissions, you will see an option on a checkin screen if you have at least RW permission

  • Populating Web List from database Based on Selected Field

    Hi,
    I'm really new to this so pardon my ignorance on the following.
    At my company, we have developed a web site using Oracle
    Application Server using PL*SQL cartridge, i.e. all the
    rendering of forms and processing of data are done using PL*Sql
    commands.
    I have a list field where I'd like the values populated from the
    database using a value specified by a user in another field.
    Example:
    State ____ City ____________________
    When user selects a state, I'd like to be able to dynamically
    populate the city field with values from the database.
    Does anyone have an example of how to do this? I'm guessing it
    can be done using thin JDBC.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Populating the 2nd dropdown based on value selected on 1st dropdown

    Hi,
    I know that there is a similar post about this in the forum but it doesn't actually show how an event for the dropdown is created. I believe this would be a script that is done within the form (transaction SFP) itself, but could I please have an example please?
    I did try to take a look at the standard ISR_FORM_SPTD form but there doesn't seem to be any scripts in this form.
    Thanks and regards,
    Adeline.

    Hi,
    Am not so sure, how were unable to locate this script. Click on the dropdown and check in the Script editor. You will get the same script. Anyways, here is the script.

  • One select list with multiple LOV's (LOV based on how page was called)

    APEX 4.0.2
    I've a DML form page from a report on which I need a single select list item to have a differing LOV based on how the form page was called.
    The calling page (report), contains an edit link column and a create button. Depending on which is selected, I wish the LOV for my select list item to change. The idea behind this is that if someone creates a new entry, I want to constrain the select list to a subset of rows of a table query populating the LOV. On the other hand, if an existing item is edited, I want the select list LOV containing all rows of a table query populating the LOV.
    What I've tried...
    - Duplicates of select list item each triggered to render based on an arbitrary value set when either "create" or "edit" are selected. This did not work because the item was part of DML and would not allow replication on the same page.
    - Logic in the LOV sql statement controlling which sql was to be run based on an arbitrary value set when either "create" or "edit" are selected. This did not work as logic is not allowed in LOV sql statements.
    Any thoughts? Many Thanks!
    Paul

    Hello Patrick!
    Thanks for responding - Love your captcha plugin!
    Anyway, these are the two dynamic LOV's. The first I have in play right now (when creating new records). I need to have the other for existing record modifications.
    LOV #1
    select stock_no d, stock_no r
    from   [email protected]
    where  status like '%Awaiting Transfer%'
    or     status like '%On Hold%'
    order by 1LOV #2
    select stock_no d, stock_no r
    from   [email protected]
    order by 1As I mentioned, I attempted to use plsql logic in the query to trigger one or the other based on a value set when the user either clicked an edit link or a create button but couldn't get the dynamic LOV to commit with that extra code in it.
    Thanks!

  • Restricting values of a dropdown based on user roles

  • Chart based on Select list with submit Lov problem

    Hi,
    I have one page with interactive report showing username with links, date and
    database actions.
    Another page contains one region having flash chart based on select list with submit Lov.
    The lov is created by dynamic query.
    Every time when i click the 1st page report link, the 2nd page lov is populating the value automatically. But the problem is chart displays NO DATA FOUND message though the LOV has many values.
    I don't want to display any null values so set to NO for LOV
    I tried to write Before header computation (PL/SQL Function Body) to set the lov value, but the query is displayed as such.
    I don't want to assign any static default value also as the values are dynamic for every link.
    The following is my Before header computation of Select list with submit (Item name is p11_schema). (PLSQL Function Body)
    begin
    if :p11_schema is null then
    return 'select distinct owner schema1, owner schema2 from auditing
    where access_date=' || :p11_access_date
    || ' and username=' || :p11_username
    || ' order by owner';
    end if;
    end;
    This is my chart query.
    select null link, obj_name label, sum(sel_count) "Select", sum(ins_count) "Insert", sum(upd_count) "Update", sum(del_count) "Delete" from auditing
    where username=:p11_username
    and access_date=:p11_access_date
    and owner=NVL(:p11_schema, OWNER)
    group by owner, obj_name
    Example: If there more than one records in the lov, the graph should display the 1st record. When i select another record, the chart accordingly display the selected values. But inially it should not display "NO DATA FOUND" message.
    I tried using all the combinations of computation type for the lov, SQL query ( I could not use if conditon then), PLSQL expression, PLSQL function body. But it does not work out.
    Can anyone please help me out.
    Thanks.

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I found out the solution for this problem as below.
    But i did it in different way to tackle the dynamic query wich returns more than one record using rownum always the 1st record when it is empty instead of assigning constant (static) value like '1'. And i am returning LOV itself for both null or not null condition as below.
    Declare
    q varchar2(4000);
    begin
    if :p11_schema is null then
    q:='select distinct owner schema from auditing';
    q:=q || ' where username=:p11_username ';
    q:=q || ' and access_date=:p11_access_date ';
    q:=q || ' and rownum<2 order by owner';
    Execute immediate q into :p11_schema USING :p11_username, :p11_access_date;
    end if;
    return :P11_SCHEMA;
    end;
    Thanks.

  • Populating List Item From View

    I have two data blocks in my form, one named USERS which contains updateable fields to a table from the view and another data block called CONTROL which are all list items that currently populate on a WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK trigger. The list items work as expected for the WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK trigger. However, my problem is trying to populate the list items based on a selection previously chosen and saved to the table (yes, the values are in the table and are selectable through the view). I have a seperate population for this occurrance in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE at the form level, as well as on KEY-SCRUP, KEY-SCRDOWN, WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE, and POST-QUERY at the USERS data block level. The only way the list items populate on a previously chosen and saved value is if you choose (WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK trigger) the list of values and save. From then on, as I scroll through the data retrieved in the USERS data block the corresponding data in the users view shows up in the CONTROL block list items. How do I get my form to initially show the corresponding list item data on form load when it is already in a WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE and POST-QUERY trigger on form load?
    Thanks in advance for any clue to point me in the right direction.

    The form is for editing a current student information system user who we will be extracting data for an OBIEE IDM import. All of the fields displayed in the OBIEE_USERS data block can be edited. For the CONTROL block list items I would like them to display the current value chosen for the user displayed in the OBIEE_USERS data block. When the CONTROL block list items are clicked on then a list of values are displayed in which the logged in form user can chose another value which ultimately changes the choice for the user displayed in the OBIEE_USERS data block. This all works fine in my current form except the list items do not display the current user selected in the OBIEE_USERS data block's saved value until the list item is selected, a value chosen, and a save is committed to the table tied to the OBIEE_USERS data block. From that point I can scroll through the OBIEE_USERS block and the list item displays the correct value for the selected user, if there are values (some users have NULL values). I have currently worked around this issue by displaying the fields in the OBIEE_USERS block and only use the list items for the changing selection. I did this because I needed a proof of concept for the pilot roll-out and could no longer wait to figure this issue out (it should be more simple it seems). I am still interested in resolving this as I feel it is a great functionality for the form.

  • Dropdowns based on previous selection and auto populate

    Good day All;
    With any luck, this will be the final touches I will need to get this form ready for approval.
    Anyway…. This is what I am trying to do. When using dropdown lists, I would like to be able to select from a group of managers depending on what “Section” was selected. It gets a little more crazy (to me anyway).
    Example: There a 3 divisions with 1 director per division.
                     Each division has 4 or more sections with a manager for each section.
    So that being said, what I would like the user to be able to do is:
    If user selects Division “1” the “director” field will auto populate with “Director 1” name.
    Next, when the user selects a “Section” from the dropdown, they will only be presented with a list of sections that belong to “Director 1”. When they make the selection, the “manager” is auto populated with the manager’s name…….
    Please let me know if I have gone a wee bit over the deep end with this.
    I hope this made sense??? ;>))
    Thanks All

    Thanks both. I have been thrown a wee bit of a curve ball as the powers that be woul
    d like to rethink what this form will be used for.

    This is a "standard" lookup:

    Create a POST-QUERY-trigger on your block and read the value from the database:

    SET_RECORD_PROPERTY(:SYSTEM.TRIGGER_BLOCK, :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_RECORD, STATUS, QUERY_STATUS);Create an Lov conatining both casenaturecode and casenature, set length of casenaturecode to 0, assign the lov to the new textfield and set "Use Lov For Validation"="Yes" for the textfield.

  • How to set a default value for a drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value in Infopath 2010.

    Hello Everyone
    I have two drop downs. • Showing and hiding dropdowns on product page, based on selected values

    Hello.
    I would like my product page to show different subsequent dropdowns based on individual dropdown values.
    I've managed to achieve this via JavaScript, but I do not like how it works.
    As far as I can tell, there is no proper identifier for each individual dropdown to determine which one it is, so all I can do at the moment is to rely on their order in the DOM, which is bad and makes it difficult for me to create a solution that would work for all products.
    For instance, if the following is a single attribute:
    <div class="catProductAttributeGroup" style="display: none;"><div class="catProdAttributeTitle">Metallic Foiling</div><div class="catProdAttributeItem"><select><option value="">-- Please select --</option><option value="6051720">Not required </option><option value="6051721">Foil ONE side + £45</option><option value="6051722">Foiling BOTH sides + £75</option></select></div></div>
    I would like the outer-most div to have some sort of html attribute that holds the product attribute id. Something like, data-attribute-id="XXXXXXX". Is that possible?
    Here's what I have up to this point:
    I use {tag_attributes_json}, {tag_product_json} and {tag_currency} to get these values into javascript on page load, so I can use them later.
    Then, I hook to change events of the drodpowns I have and then toggle their visibility based on which ones are selected. I rely on the jequery ':eq(n)' selector to achieve this, which I do not like. Is there an option for the {tag_attributes} helper which would make it add some extra information (such as attribute ID on the dropdown) on the generated HTML?
    All of this works initially, but If I then 'Add to cart', the product element get's ajax-reloaded and the events are suddenly unhooked, so it doesn't work anymore. For that one, there are two options:
    1. I could hook to an event that triggers once the product has been added to cart and the page is ready again. Is there such an event?
    2. I could implement my own add to cart using bcInternals.shop.addToCart. I tried doing this, but I have two problems with it.
    a. addToCart seems to add my selection twice, for some reason. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
    b. the cart info in  the top right corner doesn't refresh. it seems it tries to refresh, but there's some sort of access error in the script. This part is not yet fully added to the page, but there's a function that would do the adding to cart at the bottom of the bigger script block. Am I using the built in addToCart function incorrectly?
    This is the page I have the partially implemented functionality added on:
    Matt Laminated Business Cards
    The scripts are currently embedded inside the HTML. Once I have it properly implemented, I'd like to extract it into a separate file. Search for "$productAttributesElement" to find the block with the functionality and for "productInfo" to find the part where I store the product data with the _json tags.

    Hi,
    No worries, Didnt know if you solved or the answer wasnt helpfull
    You need to trigger you script within the product details template layout, or you could add a listener to the product container and trigger the script if any changes are detected.

  • How to create a report  based on selected item from Select list?

    Hi,
    I have created a tables_LOV based on:
    select table_name d, table_name r from user_tab_cols

    Then I created a page item ListOfTables,  Display as select list and pointing to tables_LOV.
    I run the page, and i can select the table i want from the drop down list.
    How to create a report  based on the selected item? (ex: select * from selected_table)
    many thanks in advance
    Salah

    Hi Salah,
    Allright, have a look at this page: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=vincentdeelen:collection_report
    I think that simulates what you're trying to accomplish. I've set up the simplest method I could think of.
    The report is based on an apex collection. If you are not familiar with that, you should study the documentation: APEX_COLLECTION
    To recreate my example you should:
    1) create an (interactive) report on your collection
    SELECT *
       FROM APEX_collections
    WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
    2) create a page_item select list for the tables you want to display (in my case this is called "P38_TABLES" )
    3) create a dynamic action that triggers on change of your select list page_item. The dynamic action must be a PL/SQL procedure perfoming the following code:
    declare
      l_query varchar2(4000);
    begin
      l_query := 'select * from '||:P38_TABLES;
      if apex_collection.collection_exists
            ( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION' )
      then
        apex_collection.delete_collection
          ( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION' );
      end if;
      apex_collection.create_collection_from_query
        ( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION'
        , p_query           => l_query
    end;
    Make sure you add your page_item to the "Page Items to Submit" section.
    4) Add an extra true action that does a refresh of the report region.
    Here are two pictures describing the da:
