Populating the database

I have all the data in a comma-delimited text file. How do I import that text file into the database (Oracle8i)?

  • Pre populating the database field when a user logs into web forms

    Hi,
When my users log into the web forms application I want the database name field to be pre populated, how do I do this, I presume it can be defined in the config files ?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    SDG.

    Hi,
I think u are refering to the username, password, database field (connect string)
here. If this is the case then you can use LOGON(username, password||'@'||connectstring) procedure and hardcode the connect string.

  • Populating menu items from the database...is it possible?

    hi
    using :forms 10g
we have a requirement in forms where we need to populate the menu items from the database.first we used hiearchial tree where it was possible.but since the requirement changed i am not sure that whether the menu items can be populated by data from the database...will be glad if someone could throw some light on this issue...
    thanks

You could always do it but would need to put a fix limit on the number of menu items.
For example you could create a set of menu items at design time with the visible property set to False.
While reading the database, you then set them to True while setting the label to whatever you require.
But it all depends also on what you want your menu items to do when selected.

  • The database structure has been modified - how to check if it happend?

    Hello,
I have a question. How to check if the database structure has been modified? I know that there is shown a messagebox after creating table and adding some fields, but sometimes this message appear after some seconds. The problem is that I want to create table and UDO for this table, and until database structure is not modified I got an error message. If I wait and DB strucuture modifies then UDO is creating correctly.
My question is - does anyone know how to check if database structure has been modified?
    Regards,
    Hmg

    Hi Szymon,
I guess you are stuck up in a kinda scenario, where in, you will be populating a form with values, before the structure modifies, if this is going to be your problem, I can help you out with a work around.
In the beginning of the process, before the creation of the UDO or tables, set a boolean value to false, and once all UDO's and Tables are created, only then, should you make it true and only after the boolean becomes true, you should proceed with populating the values from the screen.
I really ament sure what your problem is, but one of my guys faced this problem, I then, thought even you might have a similar problem.

  • Not able to get the database data into the Tree Control

    Hi Everybody,
I have to populate the tree control with nodes and items, which is to be populated from the database, and the tree control is <b>dynamic</b>. I mean, there is a <b>toolbar</b>, whenever a <b>pushbutton is clicked</b>, depending on that the tree contents has to be changed.
If anybody had worked with <b>CL_GUI_COLUMN_TREE</b> control to get the data from database, depending upon the <b>pushbutton selected in Toolbar</b>, please paste the seudocode for it.

  • Populating the Signature field of OIM UPA table

The OIM UPA table has a SIGNATURE field which customers can use for storing digital signature of the snapshot (for non-repudiation purposes).
By default - the value of this field is "NULL" in the database.
Did not find any documentation on how this field is populated.
Has any one made use of this non-repudiation feature.
    Thanks,
    Chetan

If you want this functionality it is actually not that hard to create a scheduled task that populates the signature field using a third party non repudiation provider.
Doing local non repudiation is per definition non useful so you do need a trusted third party (i.e. Guardtime (http://www.guardtime.com/)) that provides the service.

  • Populating the data

populating the data to the data base table .... which i created using only reports ...
can any body tell the approach ....... if possible coding also plz help me out ..
but using only general reports ..

Are you talking about loading data to an internal table from a database table or poplulating a database table?
If the former, the previous response is correct.
If you are attempting to load data into a database table, there are a number of approaches, including CATT and BDC.
    I have frequently used BDC.
Both approaches have the data initialing in a flat file, such as a tab-delimited file output from Excel with the data to be loaded into the table.
The program then loads the data from the PC and creates a BDC session, which simulates data input into the appropriate transaction for updating the table in question.
You can also use a more straightforward technique if you are loading a Z table that does not require the standard edit checking and control you get with CATT or BDC.
    Please clarify your request.
    Good luck

    Hi,
You can copy the SQL code generated by ODI ( for the step giving this error) and then try to execute it via any SQL client like toad/ sql developer etc.
This will help you to find the wrong data .
Also is LAST_MODIFIED and LAST_ACCESSED have datatype as VARCHAR2 ? From the name it seems it is ment to have DATE .
    Thanks,

  • Formatting info populated from database at initialize

I am currently working on a project that aims to automatically populate a pdf document with data from a database; the data itself will be changed and reviewed by different departments before being put into one, large catalog(pdf) via the database. I have used LiveCycle Designer to prototype a sample document, using Stefan Cameron's Displaying All Records from an ODBC Data Connection article as a guide for the script, but i have only been successful in creating one, long column of populated data. My script looks almost exactly as the example given here: http://blogs.adobe.com/formbuilder/2006/10/displaying_all_records_odbc_dataconn.html
What I am looking for is a way to create two columns of automatically populated data on the same page. I have had some success using multiple tables in testing, but my actual data tables are hugely collaborative, so a solution that does not involve a major overhaul of them is desirable. I would appreciate any help with scripting or any other ideas that might make this work. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure if you set the source to DATABASE COLUMN and you are not using the built in Automated Row Fetch (ARF), that any computation/process you do will be wiped out. What if you changed the source to Static Type and Only When Null? Does it get populated?

  • Dynamic populating the items in the select boxes

    Hi,
I need three select boxes on a webpage in such a way that the options in select box 2 should be populated only after selecting some item in "select box 1" and the options in the "select box 3" should be displayed by selecting the options in "the select box2". The data is being retrived from the database. I know that this functionality can be acheived through the "javascript". I am fine until getting the data from the database but not sure how to get it work using javascript.
I would appreciate if someone can post any snippet of code or give any suggesstions or pointer on how to proceed....

probably should ask on a javascript forum then. This is for java.

We have published a crystal report (XI) to InfoView (XI R2 SP2) and we are getting the following error for the database login.
"The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect."
The report is working fine in Crystal Reports XI.
The report is using the OLE DB connection to ORACLE.
The same server is running WebI reports against the same ORACLE DB. Thanks

    Hi,
We configure DSN with windows authentication and report in CMC has the configuration information like this
    Server Name: Populated
    Database: populated
    User: Empty
    Password: Empty
For the report to run, do we have 6400 to 6490 ports open?
we have port 1433 open between database and CR server but not the 6400 - 6490 ports open?

  • Populating SAP Database table using JDBC adapter

    Hi Folks,
I have a requirement to populate a SAP database table say ZTABLE using XI. The Model is the table has to be populated through a file which will be processed by SAP XI. Basically this is a File to JDBC scenario. The database used is ORACLE. Kindly provide me some idea to go ahead.

I tried to place the MS access table in the shared folder of the Application server system but still it seems the table is not being populated.
did you check the log in your receiver channel? (/people/sameer.shadab/blog/2005/10/24/connecting-to-ms-access-using-receiver-jdbc-adapter-without-dsn)
The requirement is to update the tables directly as those are the custom tables.
i would still say that do not update SAP tables directly from XI/ PI.....this is not a standard architecture/ solution....
