Popup block open

Hi frnds,
I have a query please help me out
I have two jsp pages one is xmaster,xfeedetails
I will enter into xmaster and save a record with id,name,address,contact no etc..which will save into db
now when i enter into xfeedetails i will click in a textbox such that a new popupblock should open where in i should enter name and press
submit on that popup so that i should fetch id of that name and place in the textbox I clicked.
can any one give me some idea how to do this..
Thankss

well actually I would make the textbox disabled (so you cannot edit it and the value will not be submitted). Do the popup with a button (much more intuitive, users will not guess that they have to click the textfield to open a popup). Upon selecting the right name in the popup, put the ID in a hidden input field and the name in the disabled textbox. This way the user will see the name he chose, and you will submit the ID that goes with the name.
The only way to get the ID into the parent page is to use javascript. With the window.opener reference you can get to it, so through that you can use getElementById() to fetch the form fields you want.
Search for "javascript window.opener" on the internet for plenty of examples.
Also: you are aware that most people nowadays have popup blockers installed don't you, and thus your form will malfunction in most cases? I would go for a more common "web 2.0" div popup approach combined with Ajax to get what you want. For example, I really like this approach:

    We recently upgraded to TestStand 2012, and we are having trouble with the creating a readable report.   We have the results set to .xml.   Previously we were using TestStand 4.2 and we were able to convert the .xml to .xls using a stylesheet.  But this doesn't work now.   I’m getting an error – doesn’t have a top level element.   We installed TestStand 2012 using a new enterprise site license, and I wondering if we are missing something on the install.  I don't see any TestStand 2012 folder in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand xxx.   Also is there a better way to create reports that are already converted to .xls, so that anyone can read the reports using excel?
    Thanks, Dale
    I do not think TestStand ships with a stylesheet to do any such conversion, so I am assuming this is a custom stylesheet that you have either written or gotten from a 3rd party. It's possible something is formatted differently in the xml in TestStand 2012 that your stylesheet is not expecting. You might need to debug and modify your stylesheet to make it work with TestStand 2012.
    There should be a TestStand folder. Perhaps you are on a 64-bit OS in which case the folder would be located at:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand xxx
    Hope this helps,

  • How do I block a popup window that I have allowed to open on Firefox once? I now have the popup blocker set to block all sites, but the popup still opens every time I open Firefox or open (sometimes) a new tab.

    How do I block a popup? I allowed this popup to open once. Now I have set the popup blocker to block all sites but this popup still opens every time I open Firefox and sometimes (usually) when I open a new tab.
    I Have stopped and restarted Firefox multiple times.
    I have rebooted the computer.
    I have set the tools/options/content/block pop-up windows/exceptions to block all sites (no exceptions).
    I have no other issues with Firefox.
    I have Adblock plus (with (1) subscription) installed
    I am currently using Firefox version 4.0 on Windows7 Ultimate.

    Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
    The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
    Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    Here are some other things to check:
    (1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    (2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
    right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
    For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    (3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
    (4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
    Hopefully that cures it.

  • Access Keys not blocked when popup is open

    Hi,
    We are using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and we have the requirement to add access keys on specific buttons in our application.
    When a popup is open the background page is disabled and the user cannot click on buttons outside the popup.
    If however a button in the background has an access key and the user uses it, the action gets executed.
    Is this a bug? does anyone know of a workaround in order to block the access keys in the background when a popup is open?
    Gabriel.

    Hi,
    We got an answer from Oracle support... not the one we were hoping for though:
    "the Development team confirming that _the issue is not a defect_. We have an Enhancement Request 10170506 logged for the issue to be _considered_ by Development in the future releases......."
    The access keys functionality is a high priority for our clients and this is going to be a serious issue for us.

  • After updating to 4.0.1 (linux, x86-32) the popup-blocker prevents to open links from web-pages, e.g. from google news! Why?

    I just updated to 4.0.1 and since that moment the popup-blocker seems to block even normal links which are opened in a tab in previous versions.
    When I disable the popup-blocker everything works as before (but popups will open of course).

  • Problem with IE8 popup blocker and Windowless mode

    My team is having popup blocker issue, which is crippling our system where a large range of users are now complaining that their links or buttons will not open in IE7 or IE8 and results in the pop-up blocker message.
    Our Flash application's embed code needed wmode set to windowless ('opaque' or 'transparent') since we need to place floating HTML objects over the Flash application. But all links (within static text content) with target set to '_blank' or a custom name and also all navigateToURL() methods with the same target values are now resulting in IE pop-up blocker message once the window mode was changed to 'opaque' (same result also with 'transparent').
    We have a AS3 work around for the navigateToURL() method but no solutions for 100s of pages of simple HTML content contributed by users that have links as well as our own Flash static-text content with links.
    Here is a simple page created to demonstrate the issue - http://clients.projectmiso.net/photobiz/custom_lightbox/Test_File.html
    And the ActionScript 3 code -
    var clickFunction = function(){
        var targetURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.yahoo.com");
        navigateToURL(targetURL, '_blank');
    btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickFunction);

    Hi!
    One thing you could try is to use MOUSE_UP instead of CLICK
    ( tip-source : http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=176795 )
    This example uses clickTag parameter (through flashvars) instead of a hardcoded URL inside the flashfile though,
    but I'm sure you get the point:
    clickBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, function(event: MouseEvent): void {
    var sURL: String;
    if ((sURL = root.loaderInfo.parameters.clickTag)) {
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest(sURL), "_blank");
    clickBtn.buttonMode = true;
    clickBtn.useHandCursor = true;
    Or you might want to have a look at this workaround :

  • Is this an Internet Bug/Virus/Malware that bypasses Safari's popup blocker?

    I did a google search to find out if a specific product was manufactured in America with American parts (no luck) when I was immediately redirected to a site emulating some kind of Windows Virus scanning software. I clicked cancel to not allow anything and a popup came up continuing a simulated scan and asking me to download the product. Seemingly it did not distinguish my computer as a Mac. Why did popup blocker not stop this. Please beef up popup blocker.
    The strange thing is that after opening MySpace (which was already logged in) the second page I opened then logged me out. I was unable to login again knowing my password was correct. I went to YahooMail and was also unable to login. At that point I did the only thing that I know should work... I cleared all unknown cookies as well as MySpace and Yahoo and cleared the cache for good measure. I restarted Safari and was then able to login to both sites.
    Everything seems fine now. However, if someone often restores their computer and/or is crazy enough I would like to see if this effects Safari the same way on someone else's computer. Be forewarned: though likely, the password "blocking" cookie thing may not be the only part of the computer affected. I will post this to Apple Feedback and hopefully they will beef up Safari's popup blocker.

    Sounds like it might be a Trojan.
    SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It's available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
    The DNSChanger Removal Tool detects and removes spyware targeting Mac OS X. Called DNSChanger Trojan and also known as OSX.RSPlug.A Trojan Horse, the software attacks users attempting to play a fake video file.
    Upon attempting to play the video, the victim receives the following message:
    “Quicktime Player is unable to play movie file.
Please click here to download new version of codec.”
    Upon running the installer, the user's DNS records are modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
    SecureMac's DNSChanger Removal Tool allows users to check to see if the trojan has been installed on their computer; if it has, the software helps to identify and remove the offending file. After a system reboot, the users' DNS records will be repaired.
    There may be other ways of guarding against Trojans, viruses and general malware affecting the Mac. A white paper has recently been published on the subject by SubRosaSoft, available here:
    http://www.macforensicslab.com/ProductsAndServices/index.php?mainpage=document_general_info&cPath=11&productsid=174
    Also, beware of MacSweeper:
    MacSweeper is malware that misleads users by exaggerating reports about spyware, adware or viruses on their computer. It is the first known "rogue" application for the Mac OS X operating system. The software was discovered by F-Secure, a Finland based computer security software company on January 17, 2008

    On June 23, 2008 this news reached Mac users:

    The latest news on the subject, from July 25, 2008, is:
    Attack code that exploits flaws in the net's addressing system are starting to circulate online, say security experts.
    The code could be a boon to phishing gangs who redirect web users to fake bank sites and steal login details.
    In light of the news net firms are being urged to apply a fix for the loop-hole before attacks by hi-tech criminals become widespread.
    Net security groups say there is anecdotal evidence that small scale attacks are already happening.

  • How do I prevent mackeeper and zillions of other popups?  I have popups blocked in my settings and don't have mac keeper as an application.  Thanks!

    My MacBook Air (OS Yosemite 10.10.1) is overwhelmed with popups.  Mackeeper is the most offensive, but there are others as well.  I have popups blocked in my settings and do not have Mackeeper in my applications.

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
    Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
    There may also be a file named
               com.something.helper.plist
    in the same folder.
    Leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
    where the word something is exactly the same as before.
    If you feel confident that you've identified these three files, back up all data, then drag the three files you found to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the windows and restart the computer.
    Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
    The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
    If it has a subfolder named just
               something
    (where something is the same word as before), drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
    there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
    It's actually another folder, though it has a different icon. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
    If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
    If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
    The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
    This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
              Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Blocking popup windows even when disabling the popup blocker

    For quite some time now, Firefox has been blocking essential popup windows on my computer. It's not just those annoying ones, even those when I am trying to write an email and similar things. I have disabled the popup blocker and it does not change anything at all. It does not alert me that it has blocked anything either, it is simply as if I never clicked anything in the first place. I have tried adding exceptions to my popup blocker, and this does not work either. This is really frustrating and is interfering with my daily use of firefox, and forces me to use crappy explorer which does not block things. What can I do?

    Hi Sachin
    Thank you so much for the reply.
    About your request, the codes that I used are:
    HTML for the PopUp:
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function popUp(URL) {
    var iMyWidth;
    var iMyHeight;
    //half the screen width minus half the new window width (plus 5 pixel borders).
    iMyWidth = (window.screen.width/2) - (250 + 10);
    //half the screen height minus half the new window height (plus title and status bars).
    iMyHeight = (window.screen.height/2) - (225 + 50);
    //Open the window.
    var win2 = window.open("http://xarao.businesscatalyst.com/caipiroska.html","Window2","status=no,height=450,width=500,resizable=yes,left=" + iMyWidth + ",top=" + iMyHeight + ",screenX=" + iMyWidth + ",screenY=" + iMyHeight + ",toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,location=no,directories=no");
    win2.focus();
    </SCRIPT>
    For the Link:
    javascript:popUp('http://xarao.businesscatalyst.com/caipiroska.html')
    Of course for all the different links in the page I've changed the http of each image in both codes.

    Thank you once more.

  • My popup blocker exceptions disappear when I close Firefox.

    I just ran into this the other day, but it's become a major issue. The exceptions I enter into the popup blocker don't persist from session to session; as long as at least one instance of Firefox remains open the exception list is there, but after I close Firefox and reopen it I have no exceptions left. I only need a handful of exceptions, but I don't want to have to type them in every time I access those web sites!
