Popup to display values of an indicator as a graph

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to find the solution for this some time already. Since my program has lots of measured values I want to include the following functionality:
1) Normally values are read out in a while loop and written to numeric indicators.
2) In some cases a representation of the trend is needed for certain values. In those cases it should be possible to click the corresponding indicator and a popup should come up, showing the previous and future trend of that indicator. (The main program should keep on running)
3) The poped up graphs should be closeable. But when they come back up, they should show the entire trend again.
To achieve this my plan is to include an event structure to handle the clicks onto the indicators. However i am not quite sure how to create the popups. If I start another VI inside the event structure as a popup, the main program would pause until I close the popup, right? Another idea i had is to start the popup for every indicator at the beginning of the program and then only change the visibility of the popups with the property nodes. The information would then be constantly parsed to the popups with a queue. But the things I tried so far in that direction were not very promissing

What you want to do is certainly possible. It will require three steps:
You will need to internally buffer your data so you can plot it when you need it. There are many options here, but the three easiest are probably shift registers in your data acquisition loop, functional globals, or data value references. The tutorial Managing Large Data Sets in LabVIEW gives an example of the functional global approach.
In you UI/event structure loop, set up events to launch an independent VI which contains your graph. You probably only need to write one of these and make it a .vit so a new instance will launch every time. Communicate with it with a specific queue (generated by your main program). Communication back from it can also be a queue. You can find examples of this type of thing in this series on launching top level VIs (link is to last of the series; links to others in the series at the bottom of the first post).
Communicate with your newly launched VI via queue (event structure also works, but I prefer queues). I would highly recommend the object-oriented command pattern, but if you have not used LVOOP before, you may want to try a standard command processor / state machine architecture for your graph VI first.
Note that VI properties will be very important for your launched VI. You probably do not want it to be a default dialog, since that will make it modal (on top, intercepts all input). Whether or not you want to show scroll bars, title, etc is dependent on your application.

Why doesn't a Popup Key LOV (named LOV) in a tabular form not display values in the popup?

I have a tabular form and I'm setting one of the fields to a Popup Key LOV (named LOV). The named LOV is a static LOV. When the popup is displayed there are no values displayed. The same thing happens if I use a Popup LOV (named LOV).
I created a sample application http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=15762:1that shows what happens. When the job field popup is selected, no items are displayed. If I change the item to a Select List (named LOV) it works fine.
Is this a bug?

Is it possible to easily view the actual (not displayed) value of a cell?

Is it possible to easily view the actual value of a cell calculated by a formula, not the displayed value after it has been rounded off?
For instance, if you enter the number 1.23456789 and display it rounded to 3 decimal places, you can still see the full, actual value in the formula bar:
The problem arises when you reference that number in a formula: you can't see the underlying value (even though it's obviously known to Numbers):
Is there a way to get the formula bar (or a tooltip) to show the full, unrounded value? Changing the display to more decimal places is not very convenient, especially on big spreadsheets. Maybe it could be done via AppleScript?
A related issue arises when you try to look at the sum or average of a number: if the numbers being summed have the same number of rounded decimals, the sum displayed is rounded too. I find this very annoying: I want to see the actual value, not how my spreadsheet may be displaying it in that cell.
Although, curiously, rounding to any number of decimals as long as they are not all the same displays the full, correct underlying values:

I did it with an AppleScript.
Now any time I have a cell or cell range selected, I do one click (AppleScript menu > Display Value at Full Precision), and it shows me a popup alert that simply reads:
     rowname : columnname
     value

* Go to Shared Components -> Templates -> Select Type as "Popup List of Values"
* Edit Popup LOV template
* See the class name being used for div under Result Set section. In My case, its t1PopupBody
* Under Page Attributes -> Page HTML Head section append following CSS
<style>.t1PopupBody a{color:red;}</style>* Apply Changes
If its not working, then inspect the pop-up lov with firebug and update CSS definition accordingly.

My lov results into the return value instead of the display value in APEX

For 1 of the columns I'm representing in APEX, I choose 'Display as text, based on a lov'. I'm using:

But somehow it displays the 'aan.id' value instead of the display value. Does anyone know howcome?? In TOAD it works fine

Hello Niels,
Your LOV Displays your concatenated value, but returns the "aan.id" (into the Form field), just as expected. If you want to show the description on your Form, use a PopUp LOV - Displays Description Return Key value

Popup LOV, set value by clicking on a button.

Hello,
I have a Popup lov item on customers, and I have a button beside popup too to create new customer. I would like to set the new customer id/name in popup lov, that i have after clicked on new customer button. (from Javascript). With normal select list " $s('P58_COMPANYID', 58)" is working, but with popup lov not.
What is the problem?

are you using APEX 4.0? Because there $s has a third parameter to provide the display value for a "Popup Key LOV". For example

List Managers Displays Return Value and Not Display Value

I have created a List Manager (based on a Popup LOV). My lov is as follows:
SELECT pt.paper_code d, pt.paper_icode r
FROM uo_sturec.paper_table pt
WHERE pt.start_year <= 2006
AND (pt.finish_year >= 2006 OR pt.finish_year = 0)
AND pt.paper_type = 60
ORDER BY pt.paper_code
However, when I select something from the popup, it displays the pt.paper_icode in the field and when I click on Add, the pt.paper_icode is added to the selction box.
What can I do to make the display value, pt.paper_code appear both in the field and the selection box?

Thank you for your reply. However, I want the return value to be pt.paper_icode, because I'll be using this value to populate another item on the same page. Is there some javascript I could write to just change the display value of the List Manager while preserving its return value?

Popup LOV Returning Values

In my entry form I'd like to use the "Popup LOV" to bring the names of employees. I use the following statement:
SELECT full_name, party_id
FROM vs_parties
ORDER BY 1
Everything seems to be working OK, however, only "party_id" is returned to the form. Is there a way I can hide the ID field and display the related "full_name" only.

In order to clear out a Popup Key LOV value it was suggested to ..... Preface the query with [select '-choose option-' a, 0 b from dual union all ...].
Does anyone know of a fix for this solution if you want to set the value to null? Because as it stands if you use this query and replace "0" with null, the popup key lov actually returns "-choose option-" for both the display value and the actual value. I cannot use the value of "0" so that is why I am needing it to return as null.
Here is an example I posted up, the field that has the Popup key is "Name" you will see that once you pick "choose option" and save the record that in the report it sets the value of name to "-choose option" instead of null. Once this happens you cannot edit the record unless you do a backend SQL update to set value to null or a anything else.

Refresh popup list of values javascript

I try to change value of popup list of values with javascript.
When i set it with javascript i get only return value visible in popup list of values (display). When i add refresh in dynamic action item is clean..and dont have any value..
How to set display and return value correctly...

I am not sure if I understand your question, but if you want to show two display value columns you can use a concatenation, for example:
select raum||' - '||some_other_column display_value, raum return_value from standort order by 1
You can also build a custom popup LOV picker. If you wanted to have popup list of values that selected a number of columns and contained custom report filters you could do so by:
1. create a report page which queries the table you wish pick from
2. change the page template to be a popup lov style template
3. in the "Post Element Text" attribute put a link to the new popup page using javascript similar to: javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&SESSION.')
( you may wish to wrap it around an image such as this one )

4. make one of the columns in your report a link to javascript to passback the value and close the popup window. A good example of this javascript can be viewed by viewing the HTML page source of the popup page finder which is linked from the APEX page definition page.

Pop-up list manager displaying "return value" instead of "display value"

Hello,
I'm using a list manager based on pop-up LOV. When I click on an item on the pop-up window, the window is closed and the return value is displayed in the page list. I would like to have (as expected) the display value otherwise a user who accesses the detail of a record can just see codes (no meaning) and can't understand nothing. The return values should be used just for database storage as expected in a database application environment.
The behaviour should be like the one of "POPUP Key LOV (display descriptions, return key values)"...where in the textbox I can see the description but I send the key to the database.
I could use a multislect list too (which allows to display descriptions instead of codes) but in this case another problem arises: if I have lots of items the user has to scroll the list to see which items have been selected.
Any other solution to allow a user to see (and print) the content of "multiple" fields (descriptions, not codes)?
I'm using Application Express 2.1.0.00.39

Change display value of "select list"

Hi!
I have a problem with a select list, I want to change the display value through an own pop up (page 5 of apex application) after I submit in it.
The select list is based on a sql query:
select A_NAME display_value, A_ID return_value
from APPLICATIONS
where a_application_type='GROUP'
order by 1
beside I have an link to open a pop up window:

On the pop up site there is a tree and a submit button which close the window and renew the original page:
javascript:window.opener.location.reload();window.close();
Through the tree I get the value (Group-ID) which I need.
When I'm back on page 4 a "before header" renew page process links again on the side 4 and change the value of my select list. Afterwards the values have changed correctly but the display value is still the old one. It only change when i go on an other page of the apex application and come back.
I don't know why it doesn't change immediately!?

I have done with a solution just in a nutshell of what u r looking for:
1.create HTML region.
Add two items : Select list with redirect(P6_X) and text field(P7_X)
2. Select list is based on LOV query as :
select empno d,empno r from emp ;
Source value is Empno Type:DBcolumn.
3.The text field Source type : SQL Query .
Query : select ename from emp where empno = :P6_X
Now select from the dropdown empno and it will populate the Ename value accordingly based on the query .
U can have more than one text fields and populate those in the same way.....

and 01 iam having text value as xxx,

03 zzz
Im report display the values are displaying as 01,02,03..
but i want to display it as 01 xxx,02 yyy, 03 zzz.

You can do this with "concatenate".
example:
In you code check where you final internal table is getting filled up before that do this concatenate and then append it.
data t_text type string.
t_text = textfield
CONCATENATE 'Xfield'
                 t_text
                  INTO wa_workarea SEPARATED BY space.

Formatting display value in LOV

I have an LOV whose display value is a concatenation of 2 database fields. That works fine. But I want to put a tab in between the
2 fields, otherwise the values are displayed one right after the other, and the columns are out of alignment from one row to the next.
In sqlplus, I can do:
select CHR(9)||to_char(objecttype_id)||CHR(9)||objecttype_name from hdb_objecttype;
And I get:
12 acoustic velocity meter
1 basin
11 canal
2 climate site
3 confluence
4 diversion
10 hydro plant unit
5 hydro power plant
6 reach
7 reservoir
14 riverware dataobject
When I do the same thing in my LOV query, I get
12 acoustic velocity meter

I've tried lpad and rpad, also. With blanks as padding they produce the above results. If I use a character such as '.' they behave
correctly, but I still don't have standard field widths because of the variance in character sizes.
Why won't any of this formatting work, and how can I get it to?

In addition to what Max said, you may be displaying this in a region where whitespace is compressed; in which case you would need to use non-breaking spaces in place of regular spaces:
SELECT     REPLACE ( RPAD ( TO_CHAR (objecttype_id)

           , CHR (38) || 'nbsp;'      -- CHR (38) is ampersand
...Speaking of compressing whitespace, this site does it.
