Port 9000 conflicts with McAfee Backup utility

I am having a problem with my McAfee Backup utility. I receive a .NET conflict for port 9000 when it attempts to load. I was told by McAfee Tech Support that the Oracle Forms port utilizes port 9000. If this is true, how do I get around this problem. I was unsure whether to post this message on this forum or the forms forum. Please post where appropriate. Thank you

    Hello,
Legato log files might tell you more about the root cause.
And here's just a guess: Files permissions have to be considered as well. Did you do backup and restore as the same operating system user? If users are different, then different permissions may be a problem.

  • Port forwarding conflict with applicaton ssh

    Hi,
I have 2 machines in my home network that I want to be able to ssh to from externally using different ports, 22 and 2022. Both forwarders need to forward to port 22 on the 2 machines. I only seem to be able to establish one forwarder. The second one complains that it conflicts with the first. It seems like it can't handle forwarding to the same port despite it being on a different server. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks, Tom

The NAT within the home hub can only map to one port of the same number, irrespective of the device, its just the way it works.
I am not sure which routers would be capable of this.

  • Port Forward: Conflicts with all of them.

A bit about me: I am an IT professional 20+ years so I know how to port forward
    Situation:
I had a Actiontec Gen1 router. A technician came out the other day and tried to resolve an upload speed issue. As a result, he replaced the ONT and the Router to a Gen2. He got it all up and running and left. My issue started 20 minutes after he left -- when I sat down to reestablish my port forwards.
When I tryed creating my first port forward, I got a warning message about a conflict. I looked at the list and all I had were 3 preset entries:
    --Localhost                               TCP Any -> 4567
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> Any
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> 1
Now, I have done port forwards a lot with my previous router so I was a bit taken back. I did a factory restore on the router and tried to create another port forward - still conflicts.
I knew something was up so I called Verizon. A tech didn't get anywhere so they put me on the phone with Actiontec. They had me try to create a port forward and got the same results. They said the router was corrupt and to have Verizon send me another.
I got the new router in today. While the tech was setting it up in the basement, I quickly tried to create a port forward on it and it worked. I was excited and waited for him to connected it to the WAN. Once he did his thing and established outside connectivity, I tried to create another port forward, and it failed. I asked him to give me back my original Gen1 router so I could use it to troubleshoot. He did with the rule that I call him when I was done.
I got Verizon back on the line and they couldn't help. They then got me on the phone with Actiontec. A couple hours later, they still had no answer. One thing we found though was that they were also not able to connect remotely. They tried 443 and 8080 - nothing worked. I also found that I was able to create UDP port forwards - they worked fine but as soon as I tried any TCP ports, the always came back with a conflict.
Actiontec said the issue was with Verizon and that I should work with them again, so I called Verizon.
I got a great tech who was really going the extra mile instead of giving me the infamous "We don't support that". He too couldn't access the router remotely and we tried just about anything under the sun. For giggles, we decided to put my old Gen1 router back in place. He wanted to reset it to factory defaults so we did. I took a screen capture of my original port forwards though first. When we restored it, it was also stating that there is a conflict when I created a new port forward.
I took a look at my screen capture of my original Gen1 router (this is the one that was originally working over the last year) and I noticed that its 192.168.1.100 entry was set to go to Application - UDP any -> 63146. After resetting it to factory default, Verizon is now setting it to the two setting I documented above.
So now I am questioning Verizons settings that they are pushing down to the router.
My next step was to disconnect it from the WAN completely, do a factory reset and see if I can create a port forward. After doing that test, I was able to create port forwards - TCP, UDP -- they all entered without a conflict. As soon as I connected the router to the WAN and Verizon pushed their settings, it broke again.
The technician did all he could. It is Sunday today and the higher tier techs do not work on Sundays so he said he will have them contact me tomorrow. I sure hope they can resolve this!
    So this is the deal:
-Go into your router and try to create a port forward. Pick anyone from the list that includes a TCP port. If you get a message stating there is a conflict, you are most likely in the same boat as I. I would bet anything that Verzion cannot access your router remotely too.
-If you ARE able to create tcp port forwards, then I would highly suggest that you do not do a factory reset. When doing so, I would bet anything that you will no longer be able to create those forwards.
-if you are able to port forward fine, do me a favor and tell me what your 192.168.1.100 port forwards are that Verizon throws in there. If I were to bet, I would bet that the ones that work are set for Application - UDP any -> 63146; If they don't work, I would bet that they are set to:
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> Any
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> 1
Anyway, that is my story. I spent a whole weekend with Verizon and I am still not working. Any data from the community will be helpful. I want to know if this is a global issue or if it is only affecting me. I have had this happen with 3 routers, 1 gen1 and 2 gen2's.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Finally - a solution. *wipes brow*
First off, I want to state that the networking group located in the Syracuse - all the other tech need to visit them for a week and learn:
    - How to talk to a customer (what to say and not to say)
    - How routers work, how they can be configured, and what they are capable of. Basically, learn a bit about networking.
    - Listen to the customer - they may know more than you.
Anyway, thank you very much Syracuse Team!
While working with the tech (this guy was awesome and actually listened to me about the automatic port forwards that were appearing from Verizon), he decided to to use the RJ45 network WAN connection in addition the COAX. My setup was setup to only use the COAX connection - it's been that way for over a year now.
The tech turned set it up so that my data was going through the RJ45 and the TV was going through the COAX. When he did this and we reset the router to factory, the Verizon forwarded ports were no longer showing up and as a result, I was able to create ports at will without conflict.
So beware all of you who are setup to only use the COAX connection. It appears that one of my set top boxes was now throwing in the port forwards that I noted in the original post and those were screwing everything up. Go figure that, eh? I wonder who said that some 14 tech hours ago?
Anyway - if you are unable to create port forwards without a conflict error, call up Verizon and tell them the issue. If they act like they never heard this, tell them about my situation and that adding the RJ45 connection in addition the COAX is the solution. Just make sure you reset your router to factory when they are done or else those odd port forwards won't clear.
    Peace out and good luck!

  • VSS snapshots for DPM 2010 Hyper-V backup conflict with SQL backup on a virtual SQL server

We currently use DPM 2010 to backup our virtual servers which reside on a 5 node Hyper-V clustered share volume.  DPM uses the hardware VSS writer to backup the Hyper-V guests.   Several of these Hyper-V guests are SQL servers (SQL 2008) and they
are all configured to run point in time SQL backups using SQL Management Plans.
The SQL backups are scheduled to run a full database backup on a Friday and differential backups on the other days of the week.  Transaction backups are scheduled to run several times throughout the day.
However we have recently discovered that there is a conflict between these two methods as it seems as though when a restore is required using a differential SQL backup, it fails as the snapshot created by DPM forces SQL to believe it has had a full backup
carried out externally from the Management Plan and is therefore unable to perform the restore.
DPM backs up the Hyper-V guests on a daily basis from 8pm.
Can anyone provide any advice or guidance on this as we need both types of backup to run successfully.  We are required to backup SQL with point in time backups and we also need to protect the Hyper-V guests in their entirety.

    Thanks Mike,
I have tried this but unfortunately it has no effect.  The VM has Oracle installed (although not the Oracle VSS Writer).  It is the Oracle application server, not the database server, and the customer has a script that is used to stop and start
the Oracle application when required.  Through troubleshooting this with them I have noticed that after the WLS_Reports service/process is stopped the backups run successfully but when it is running the backups fail.
I have also noticed that when I stop the Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor the backup runs successfully, which I guess is as expected.
When the backups fail I get 2 errors in the application log:
Event Id 12293, VSS - Error calling a routine on a shadow copy provider {GUID for the Hyper-V IC Software Shadow Copy Provider}.  Routine details PreFinalCommitSnapshots ({GUID}, 5) [hr = 0x800705b4, This operation returned because
    the timeout period expired.]
Event Id 19, vmicvss - Not all the shadow volumes arrived in the guest operating system.
This is also part of the same problem I have posted here: Backup
fails for a Hyper-V guest with VSS Writer failures using DPM 2012 R2 - Hyper-V guest has Oracle application installed

  • Rman optimization conflicting with obsolete backups?

    Hello,
Suppose I have the following configuration.
I have a partitioned table with each (month-)partition on a different tablespace. I need to keep 10yrs of data. Switch a tablespace with e.g. April2008 data to read-only.
Rman set REDUNDANCY 1 and OPTIMIZATION ON.
Now redundancy 1 should keep only 1 backup of each file wouldn't it?
I do a backup database: it backups every file.
I do a backup database again: it backups every file again.
I do a backup database third time: it says "skipping file n allready backed up 2 times".
Now I do a report obsolete: it marks one of the backups op my file with April2008 data as obsolete.
After performing a delete obsolete, it is gone.
Next day I do a backup database: it backups every file again, so I have two!! backups of file n.
I would like to have only 1 and just 1 backup of the file, and it should never be backed up anymore. The redundancy cannot be set to zero.
    How to deal with this?

I think we disagree on this. I can make a single-partition rman backup if:
It is on it's own tablespace, on it's own datafile. No problem with that. It is only the redundancy-problem I have.
Even if I configure redundancy to 1, it makes two backups, and one of these is obsolete. This obsolete gets deleted in a 'delete obsolete' action, and a new obsolete will be created with the next backup.
How would you backup the database with 120 partitions as I described above? Each day a full backup??

  • Conflict with McAfee and BT Hub

I recently bought a new McAfee subscription to cover both the Mac and Bootcamp operations. Installation was blocked saying an application was already installed. McAfee support spent 2 hours trying to resolve this, without success.  They uninstalled my previous version of McAfee, so I am now without virus protection. I have just installed superfast broadband.  BT tell me there is a known issue with their hub and the Mac OS, following an update to the Mac OS.  It took them 90 minutes to install a temporary fix so I could send e-mail.  Anyone know what's going on?  Regards, Adrian

You won't find much support for or reason to use McAfee for 10.6.8 or 10.8.3
As for Windows, you really don't need their paid subscription. Use MS Security Essentials now for years. Ask  if you want on Bootcamp  forum. That will handle Windows 7 & 8 just fine.

  • Trying to recover a backup made using the OS7 backup utility

I have a backup made with the backup utility from OS7 (back in 1992). I've had the original floppy disks transferred to CD (luckily, the disks were in good shape), but it's unclear how to get from the backup files to actual files. Is there a utility that can recover these files? Alternatively, is there a reference to the file format? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any way to run an old copy of the software on today's hardware?
    No.
No Intel-processor Mac can run Classic, which is a modified install of OS 9 used as a program to allow the use of some OS 9 and earlier software on a machine running OS X.
You will probably need to do two things -
    • Acquire, or acquire the use of, an earlier machine, such as a G4 running OS 9 or OS X 10.4 or earlier and which has Classic installed.
    • Acquire a copy of an OS 9 version of Norton Utilities which includes the File Saver module. With luck that will be able to open the older archives.
Alternatively, you might see if there is an Apple User Group near you - most large cities and universities have them. One of their memebers may have an older, running Mac which can handle the old Norton File Saver program which they will let you use to extract those files.

  • BT Homehub port forwarding - Conflicts?

I am trying to set up an application for a minecraft server. I need to forward ports and I create the application for the Minecraft server with ports 25565 and when I try to actually apply it, it says:
    ports setting conflict
This application ports setting conflict with others, Please correct it and try again.
I dont see how there are any conflicts? I dont have any other applications set up on my router?

Same thing happens when you try to add Xbox Live - nobody knows why.  Basically a full reset seems to be the only fix and even then you have to be quick when setting up port forwarding otherwise the conflicts issue happens.

  • R&R vs Windows Backup utility

While the  thinkvantage R&R won't use a USB flash drive for a backup device, windows backup utility will  (XP Pro).
Question is, what can R&R do that windows backup can't?    If my hard drive fails, can windows backup be used to install the OS, data, and settings to a new drive... the way that R&R can?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

R&R can encrypt your backups (so that if you lose a USB drive, nobody can browse your files without your password) and also compress them so they tend to be somewhat smaller. There is also more flexibility in the settings for R&R (for example, choosing selected large files for "single storage"). As far as restoring everything from windows backups, on Windows7 yes, system image created with the backup utility and a repair disk (created with the backup utility) can be used to restore the whole system+data. I am not sure about XP though; I no longer have access to XP, but my recollection is that the backup utility on XP lacks this functionality.

  • Each time I connect to my IBM computer it crashes with blue screen error message pops up. Apple say that it's my printer/camera drivers. The problem is with iTunes, it likes to play with all the ports on my comp and conflicts with prnt drivers. How to fix

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without disabling my printer. It's very frustrating. It's either I have my iPad or my printer. iTunes likes to play with the ports on my computer thereby causing a conflict with my printer drivers. Apple should fix this problem, I'm so annoyed.

When this problem first happened, I searched for threads and found a few.  See be;ow links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.

Suddenly, my time capsule will not allow more than one computer to connect to the internet at a time. On the Airport Utility on the internet tab, Connection Sharing is "Off (Bridge Mode)" When I try to change it to sharing an IP address, I get two messages that the beginning and ending DHCP addresses that the DHCP addresses I've entered conflict with the WAN address of my Apple wireless device."
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I use a DSL to connect to the internet. The modem is a Westell C90-810030-06. Two things happened in connection with the fail. I upgraded the firmware in both my Time Capsule (connected to the DSL) and the Airport Extreme (connected to my printer--used to extend the network). I also upgraded my Colof Nook to the Android Faux Tablet version. I can't imagine that that is creating some sort of mismatch.
I have now downgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule to 7.4.1 which is what I had before. Fortunately, I found the trick to downloading the older airport utility to find the older firmware. All the older versions disappeared from my computers.
I still have the same problem. Wifi works fine. If a second device connects to the wifi, then it works fine, but the first no longer has a connection.
And my Airport Extreme is not working at all. It cannot be seen by the computer. I tried resetting it. I'm going to connect it by ethernet and downgrade the firmware on it.
I appreciate any help. This is so frustrating.

  • I have a current 2TB Time Capsule. I would like to add more ethernet ports for needed expansion. Will an Airport Extreme conflict with the Time Capsule for needed ethernet ports and will wireless from both units conflict?

I own a current 2TB Time Capsule and I need to expand my network system to include more ethernet (wired) ports. I am considering an Airport Extreme that would give me enough wired ports. Will the wireless capabilities of both units conflict with each other? I only need one wireless network. Thank you for any help.

While you could certainly add an AirPort Extreme to provide additional Ethernet ports, you could also save about $150 by purchasing an inexpensive switch, such as one of these:
    http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-DGS-1005G-5-Port-Gigabit-Desktop/dp/B003X7TRWE/
    http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Unmanaged-GREENnet-Auto-Negotiation-Auto-MDIX/dp/ B001QUA6R0/
Consumer grade Ethernet switches typically come in five and eight port configurations. Just be aware that a five port switch only conveys the ability to add three additional devices. An eight port switch conveys the ability to add six additional devices.
An 8 port switch provides twice the capacity of a 5 port switch for considerably less than twice the cost. The price difference between the two is often only $10 or so.
I just checked, the 8 port version of the Trendnet switch above costs exactly $4 more.
An AirPort Extreme is a very flexible full featured wireless router, and would provide three additional LAN ports for wired devices. If all you need is a few more ports though, it's overkill.
