Portal application installation trouble

Hi all,
I need your help for this problem:
Bea weblogic portal 10.3.2 doesn't install our portal application. Error messages are:

File communities-config.xml is present in the file system.Why bea refuses to load it?

I am having an error like you had.
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
Message icon - Error Error reading descriptor: META-INF/communities-config.xml for app module sampleEAR

This is what I get when I try to activate changes after installing my ear.
I work with the Portal Administration Console.
I try to install it on cluster.
The log in the AdminServer is the following:

Adobe Air application installation using the bundled runtime installer

Hello.
We plan to develop application for different platforms with Adobe Air and testing installing Air applications with bundled runtime installer on different platforms. It's ok with Windows and Mac OS, but we got troubles with "silent" installation on Ubuntu OS 9.10.
I tried to install Adobe Air application with bundled runtime, like in this document in part "Silent installation":

using command-line:

and installation fails. Installation log looks like this:

P.S. We tried do the same on Linux Mint 10. Everything's fine, application getting installed well.

I uninstalled adobe AIR and ran a file and registry cleaner to delete any left over files and installs.
Then installed the v.15 Adobe AIR beta as recommended.
The cleaners I used (ccleaner & jv16 power tools) did find some temporary install files and remnants of the Video Alchemy install.
Tried the install again and still no installation window displays.
I'm running Windows 7 on my PC and even changed the installation file compatibility to Windows XP service pack 2 to no avail.
Funny that it installed fine on my notebook with Adobe AIR latest version running Windows 7.
I'm watching task manager as I'm attempting the install and videoalchemy.exe has some cpu usage then drops to zero activity.
Then Adobe AIR application Installer starts up then cycles to zero cpu activity.
I'm stumped on this one :-(

SAP Developer Studio with no Portal Application option

Hello everyone, can someone help me in this problem:
I have installed these days the SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP 7 on Web AS 6.40 and additionally after that I installed for development the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio the version 2.0.3.
I deployed with SDM those 2 files of PDK 6.0 SP6 in .sda format and add the Java developer role to my admin. I've downloaded from the portal the plugin Connector for Eclipse and copy it in the IDE plugins directory. I made a download in a local directory of the jar files too.
Starting the Developer Studio with the reason of developing, I can't see in my File-> New ->Project any option like Portal Applications. Not in Windows -> Preferences either.
Have I done something wrong? If someone had the same problem maybe and want to give a little help.
I'm thinking now that maybe the version of Developer Studio is too old. If so, does anyone can tell me from where I can download a newer one, because I have seen some links that dont work.

your version of DevStudio seems indeed to be outdated. If I remember correctly, then EP6 SP7 runs on WebAS 640 SP8? Therefore you should use DevStudio 2.0.8 (where .8 denotes the support package of your WebAS installation)
You can download a newer version of DevStudio from service marketplace. A trial version of DevStudio 2.0.7 is available here on SDN in the "Downloads/WebAS" section.

Consume an existing WebService over an SAP Portal Application

I would like to consume an existing Web service, which has been implemented under AXIS 4 1 and deployed to a tomcat 4.1 installation.
I've developed an SAP Portal application with NWDS (Dynpage-Structure), which has to call this web service. For this, I've generated a standalone proxy client over WSDL of this WebServie under WebServiceWizard of NWDS and called it from my Portal Application, without success :(. But when i call it (proxy) from a standalone java client (Class with main-Method), it function.
Can anybody help me, for calling this WebService

Hi Ahmet,
open a browser on your portal server (or try telnet) to check if you can access your axis server. Seems like you have some firewall or routing probs.
Just enter your web service uri in address bar of the browser to see if you can get a connection. If you do not have a browser, try:
'telnet <axis-server-name> 80'
from command line. Does anybody listen?
Is your web service designed to be used by anybody? Or do you have some kind of authorization issues?

RequestDispatcher Error in JSF-Portal application

i have the following problem and need some help, ideas, etc....
I have a portal-application (jsr 168) with jsf frontend and wan't to do the following.
I get via portlet-portlet communication some parameter (in processAction) and wan't to navigate in some special case to a diffrent jsf-jsp.
I tried to do this with the request dispatcher in the doView method.
PortletRequestDispatcher rd = getPortletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/demoJsfPage.jsp");
            rd.include(request,response);This will only work, if I have a "normal" jsp page. If I put the first jsf-item on the page, i will get a javax.portlet.PortletException at org.apache.pluto.core.impl.PortletRequestDispatcherImpl.include(PortletRequestDispatcherImpl.java:133)

You have to download the SP that equals your APAP SP.
Normally, these SCAs will be installed with installation of "BI Usage Type" of the J2EE engine.

a) Go to System Administration Support Support Desk Portal Runtime Browse deployment. Navigate to ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd and select file com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par.bak. Click the download link. Open the zip file and extract it to your local file system.
b) Open Eclipse and create a new portal application project based on the par file (File Import PAR file).
my problem is I don't know where I can creat a new portal application?Do I need download a software?

The steps for installation are:
1.Begin installation by executing JDTSetup.exe
2.Enter installation directory where u wish to install.
3.You will have to enter your Java SDK directory. NDS needs at least 1.4.2 version or later.
4.Enter folder name for workspace storage: C:\NWDS\Workspace or C:\SAP\JDT\Workspace
5.After installation is finished start Developer Studio by going to SAP Netweaver Deveoper Studio icon on your desktop.
6.Open EP Perspective by going to Window->Open Perspective->Other->Enterprise Portal

Initiate Application Installation from App Catalog via Command Line / PowerShell

Hey Guys -
We have a single, fairly extensive OSD task sequence which covers systems for all departments. Due to it being a single TS for all, PC Lab techs must manually install some apps after it finishes via the Application Catalog. In past environments,
I've used MDT's UDI Wizard to create a frontend where techs could select additional software they wanted installed during the TS and it worked great! I'm trying to get something like that approved now, but in the meantime told the techs I'd come up with
a temporary solution to make their job easier.
Enter WPI (Windows Post Installer.) Back in the days before I used SCCM OSD and relied in Acronis images (yuck), I used a the WPI tool which only ran once - at the first login - even before the desktop
loaded. It's highly customizable and basically shows a single window which lists any applications or scripts (in groups) which you have configured. You place a checkmark beside each one you want to install, click the "Install" button,
then watch it's installer frontend install each of the selected apps. Once done, it either restarts the PC or exists to the desktop. For each application I can add, I'm provided with a few options to
install it. Obviously, an installation command line string field, but also a few more like installation order, requirements, and dependencies.
My Question
Each of the applications I've listed are in our Application Catalog and are advertised to All Users. Even though I could simply point the installer string to the app's source path and use the same string that the SCCM Application uses, I've been asked
to do something different. Instead, I'm trying to find a command line string which when run would perform the same action as if a user had selected to install an Application from the Application Catalog.
My thoughts are that if this is possible, it would probably be in the form of a PowerShell string - not just a basic command line one. Since WPI has a frontend which shows the progress of each app's installation progress as well as overall progress,
it's designed for the installation strings to install the app silently. Therefore, I would much prefer my solution run silently as well if possible.
So... does anyone have any idea for how I can make this happen? Thanks!

From what I'm reading, you are working towards MDT but it's not approved yet, so the goal is to:
Deploy a "bundle" of applications as painlessly as possible without using UDI to make customizations quick.
Lets talk options then.
Option 1: If machines types are in a unique OU or security group, create a collection for that and set these applications to mandatory install. After initial deployment, the provisioner can drop the computer in the proper OU or group and you're
good to go. Downside: collections refresh plus client check-in makes this less than instant.
Option 2: Orchestrator. You can write a runbook that will approve and push apps. You can then use the Orch console front end or a more friendly sharepoint/SM portal to push things out like a Manager would approve apps. Downside: if
not already deployed, there's no way they would approve that infrastructure if they are hesitant about MDT/UDI :)
Option 3: PowerShell and WMI. This should be doable ... but I've never tried it. It looks like you're headed down the right path ... but i guess my question is: if you can't have UDI when do get to pick the app? Are you planning
to write a full multi-box for them to check their apps after the fact? In that case ... just have the appcontroller URL pop up on first login ... might be easier than reinventing the wheel.

Steps for Debugging
1. Stop the Portal Server if Running.

2. Launch the Config tool of J2EE Engine & Set Up the debugging of the current instance.
 The Config tool is located in the directory ,
<J2EE-Install-Dir>\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
 Switch to the current instance & go to the debug tab.
 Set Enable Debug Mode checked, start the VM of J2EE in debug mode.
 Set a valid debug port, default port is 50021.
 Save the settings and restart the J2EE Engine.
3. Restart the Portal Server.
4. Open SAP Netweaver Developer Studio. Go to Window --- > Open Perspective --- > Enterprise Portal & also open the Debug perspective.
 This enables you to develop & deploy EP Components to your development Portal.
5. Configure Development Environment for Debugging.
 Create new Remote Java Application debug settings.
 Pressing the debug button attaches the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio to the Specified portal installation.
 Go to Debug --- > Remote Java Application & create a new setting for your current Portal Application Project.
 Insert the portals DNS or IP Address and the debug port specified in the Config tool, default port is 50021.
 If the portal runs on the local machine you can enter localhost instead of IP address or DNS name.
 Make sure that your Portal Application is already deployed in the portal.
6. If the connection is attached to the J2EE engines VM session, the SAP Netweaver Studio is ready to debug.
BREAKPOINTS
A Breakpoint causes the execution of a program thread to suspend at the location here the breakpoint is set.
7. Set a breakpoint in your custom coding. The debugger will stop if the VM reaches this marked code line.
To enable the breakpoint,
 Locate the breakpoint in the marker bar of an editor.
 Open the breakpoints context menu & select Enable Breakpoint.
 The breakpoint image will change back to a blue circle.
VARIABLE VIEW
The variables view contains information about the variables in the currently-selected stack frame.
8. To Launch the Variables View :,
Choose Window -- > Show View -- > Other -- > Select Debug -- > Variables View.
9. Force the Portal to execute your deployed coding. The VM stops at the specified break point.
10. The current values of the member variables can be tracked in the Variables window of SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.

Any sample portal application available for weblogic 10?

In Weblogic portal 8.1 installable we have something called portalApp which contains a couple of portal applications like sample portal and tutorial portal which contains lot of sample portlets, portals etc but in weblogic portal 10 I am unable to find any such sample application. Is there any sample application available in weblogic portal 10.0?

Unfortunately there is no sample portal application for WLP 10.

Managing Application Installs and Uninstalls with AD Groups Tied to Applications

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to come up with a way to manage application deployment and removal based on user collections that have corresponding security groups in AD. I'm using SCCM 2012 r2.
Historically, I've done the following to deploy applications: -
Create a new application, setting the user experience to install for system.
Create two device collections, one named install and the other named uninstall.
Create two application deployments, one to install (targeted at the install device collection) and one to uninstall (targeted at the uninstall device collection).
Add device to install collection to install application.
To uninstall the application, remove the device from the install collection and add it to the uninstall collection.
That has all been working great but moving forward, I'd like to manage deployment based on user collections. So I've approached this as follows: -
For installations, create a new application setting the user experience to install for user.
Create a security group in AD that corresponds to the new application.
Once SCCM synchronizes with AD and the new group appears under SCCM users, create a new user collection making the security group a direct member of the collection. Set the collection to update incrementally.
Create a required installation deployment for the new application and target it at user collection for the application.
Add a user object in AD to AD security group for the application.
Once everything syncs, the user logged on to a workstation gets the application. Up to here, everything works well.
For uninstalls, I've created an AD security group called Application Uninstalls and made domain users a member.
Once this synchronizes with SCCM, I've created a new user collection called Application Uninstalls and made the security group a direct member of the collection. Again, the collection is set to incremental update.
Create an uninstallation deployment for the new application and target it at the 'Application Uninstalls' collection.
The idea behind the uninstallation is to take advantage of the 'application installation deployments take priority over uninstallation deployments'. Because every user is a member of domain users, if they are not a member of the relevant security group to
have an application installed, then the application is automatically uninstalled. The trouble is, if I remove a user from the AD security group where they get the application, the uninstall deployment isn't kicking in like I would expect and removing the application.
Any thoughts? Is this a logical approach or is it flawed?

if I'm reading what you are saying correctly, then has the user logged out and then back on? Since the deployment is to the collection based on group membership, the client would not know that the user is no longer a member of the targeted collection until
the user token has been updated, which happens at log off/log on time.
It does depend on the collection membership - if the collection membership is to the user group, so that the collection member shows the use group, then the log off/log on would be needed.
If the collection membership list displays the individual users, then obviously that collection needs to be updated, AND new policy retrieval at the client so that it knows that it is no longer targeted.
Then, you need an Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle, which is when the client checks to see if apps that are supposed to be installed are.

Here are the steps :
1 . Stop the Portal if running
2 . Launch the Config tool of J2EE engine
3 . Start SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and open your project for debugging
After launching Config Tool go to debug tab of the server instance and check options Debuggable and Enable Debug Mode . Set the Debug port to 50021.
Go to Debug perspective of NWDS and Create New Remote Java Application with connection type as Standard(Socket attach) The other details are self - explanatory .
Pressing the debug button attaches the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio to the specified portal installation
Deploy the project to the portal .
You can see various threads of execution in your project in the debug window .
You can add break-points by right clicking on any line of code and add Break-point .
In Window->Show View->Other->Debug->Variables view you can track the values of variables in the current stack frame .
You can do many other things like adding hit counts to a breakpoint or changing the value of variables etc . Just look through .
For additional help refer to NWDS help contents .

Error while Creating a basic portal application using JDeveloper

I am trying to build a portal application using the following tutorial on JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 on Windows XP.

1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

Portal application connecting backend SAP R/3 system

Hi All,
 I am developing one portal application through NWDS. It's JSPDYNPage component.The applications functionality is basicaly is to connect it to backend SAP R/3 system & fetch some data in aparticular table & display that data in a tableview format on one JSP& also when i click any row of the tableview then details of that row should get displayed on the next JSP. So i reached till develpoing a code that connnects to Backend SAP R/3.(Basicaly coding of connection part is done). Now i need to test this code, to check whether it is fine or not? NWDS doesnt give nay error, not compile also or not runtime error also. It simply shows the output as a blank page, where it is supposed to display one line of text in textview(i coded this in my JSP).But as i said it displays a blank page. i tried to debug the application , but debugging also not worked.I performed the debugging twice in right way. The code was not debugged, it run the same way as it normally runs when debugging is off & shown the blank page. I also have done all the the settings or prerequisites for debugging properly. I am stuck at this point now.search many documents , but no relevant help has been received. Can anyonehlep me with this. i am putting below the code for JSP, JSPDYNPAGE component as well as portalapp.xml. Can anyone guide me with this, whhere i am making mistake? what should i change in this?

Error Installing Adobe Air from Story Desktop Application Installer

This is truly driving me nuts already.
Every time I try to install the Desktop Application from the Story website, it says I must install Adobe Air. So I click Install, it shows the progress bar to 100%, then errors out with a window. The window header reads "Adobe AIR Installer" and the main section of the window reads "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again." - There is a Retry and Cancel. Retry does it all again with same results.
No, I had no previous versions of Adobe Air. So I tried installing AIR direct from the Adobe website, and it installs fine. So I go back to the Story webpage and try installing the Desktop Application again and the exact same set of events as described above happens. I uninstalled the AIR install, tried again, same result.
I had Production Premium CS3 previously, and installed Production Premium CS5 UPGRADE. All the programs in the suite work like a charm!
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 208 Gig free on my C drive, as well as over 500 gig free spread out over two other drives. 8 Gig memory, and two Nvidia Qadro FX 3500 video cards (If that matters at all). Full admin rights to the PC, not limited in any way.
A quick Google search shows plenty of other people having the same problem, just no known fixes I've found!
