Portal database schema

What is the internal database schema oracle used to build the portal? e.g. template definition, items...
I logged in as database admin. I did not see any tables, views under database objects (schema portal, portal_public...).
Do we need to know the structures of those internal tables? Thanks.
I am using release 2.

You need to determine what your "SID" is. Use that once you discover what it is.
In my case I have the infrastructure database on host_01.mycompany.com.
The infrastructure database SID is in my case is "iasdb", possibly yours if you did a default install. The global service name is the SID + the domain name, IE "iasdb.host_01.mycompany.com"

  • Portal database schema password

    Hi All,
I had installed Oracle 9ias 2 successfully, i am able to login to oracle portal user, but i am not able to connect to portal user in dtatabase.
Can anyone help me knowing the Portal schema password at database.
    rgds

    Here's the solution!
Load up Oracle Directory Manager (ODM). In Windows it is in your start menu under infrastructure_home --> Integrated Management Tools. The first time in you will need to add a server entry for your SERVER and OID Port (look in your port list but is it typically 4032).
In ODM navigate down the menu tree as follows:
-> You should be able to see the OID console
    + Oracle Internet Directory Servers
    + cn=orcladmin@OID_hostname:OID_port
    + Entry Management
    + cn=OracleContext
    + cn=Products
    + cn=IAS
    + cn=IAS Infrastructure Databases
    + orclReferenceName=iasdb.<infrastructure_machine>
    + OrclResourceName=PORTAL
-> Click on the Properties tab for PORTAL, in the 'orclpasswordattribute' field you
can see the Portal user's database password.
    Cheers,

  • A new application built on a schema not in the portal database

I want to create a new application using the create "new application" function of the "build" tab of Portal.
I want this application to use a schema not in the Portal Database. The schema the application has to use belongs to a different database residing on the same machine the Portal database resides.
But the Portal "Application Name and Schema" form does allow me to choose a schema outside the Oracle Portal database.
I run Oracle Portal Version: 3.0.7.6.2 on WNT.
    Thank for any suggestion.

    Maurizio
Carol's right. Create a schema in the local database then create a db link to the remote db connecting as that schema user (or some other of your choice). In my experience this has to be a public db link.
I run a portal application against a database on another sun box. There's some hassles, but it works ok mostly.
The db link connects as the user to the remote database and I grant privileges in the remote db to that db link user. I also have public synonyms in the portal database that point to the objects in the remote db. I have public synonyms in the remote database that sort out the schema of the objects required.
This sounds complicated and I've explained it in a rush, but if you sit down and work it through it's not so bad. You may find a better way, but after several trials I've got a setup that works.
Also, when I create a form I always refer only to the synonym - never to a schema.object. That way you can adjust the synonym easily without rewriting your report.
I always make reports from sql for the reason that you can change the sql, though I always refer to my synonym never to schema.object.
Session info doesn't travel well to the remote instance. I've had to build a work-around to get my table triggers in the remote instance to figure out who the portal user is because wwctx_api.get_user returns public.
I've been unable to directly call procedures in the remote database from portal components, but I've got around that by creating wrapper procedures in the local database.
It hasn't been a trivial exercise, but it does work.

  • How to copy/move Portal database from one machine to another?

I am receiving a ORA-22973 error (size of object identifier exceeds maxmum size allowed) on the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table when attempting to import my entire "portal30" schema from one database to another on different Windows NT Servers.
Background: I had Portal 3.0.9.8 installed, configured, and running with the following setup:
    Machine 1: Windows NT 4.0 SP 6, Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2, Oracle Portal 3.0.9.8
    Machine 2: Windows NT 4.0 SP 6, Oracle 8i Database 8.1.7.0.0
We no longer have use of Machine 2 and needed to move the database over to Machine 1.
    I performed the following steps:
    1. Installed Oracle 8i database 8.1.7.0.0 on Machine 1.
    2. Set up the tablespaces in the database on Machine 1 to match the same names and sizes of the tablespaces in the database on Machine 2.
    3. Used the Oracle "exp" command to export the entire database that resided on Machine 2.
    4. Copied the ".dmp" file to Machine 1.
    5. Used the Oracle "imp" command to import the entire database on Machine 1.
    6. The import completed successfully with warnings. But I had received the ORA-22973 error during the import process.
    7. After it completed I compared the list of tables and packages in the "portal30" schema between the two databases. The wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table is missing.
    8. I tried to export and import only the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table between the two databases, but continue to receive the ORA-22973 error.
Without the table being created, access to the portal cannot be achieved.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Is there anyway to create the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table without receiving the noted error?
    2. Is there any other workable way to get the portal database from Machine 2 to Machine 1?
I am aware of the portal import/export utilities but that would require me to run through the 2 hour install of Portal 3.0.9.8 on the database on Machine 1 and then individually export and import all the portal components (security, pages, applications, content library, etc). I merely wanted to transfer the entire database from one machine to another, so I felt the Oracle exp/imp utilities would be quicker and less work.

    Hi,
I've been hitting problems with Portal 3.0.9.8.1 against 8.1.7.2.1 on NT - i.e., Intermedia not working at all, and have been advised by support to move back to 8.1.7.1.1.
I don't want to lose any of my content in the Portal since the db upgrade and am wondering on what is the best way to do this.
The version of the Portal will be the same so I am hoping I can just use the Portal export and import utilities, as afterall, it is just data and the schema structures are the same between db versions. I'm also hoping that the Portal export doesn't use the standard Oracle EXP tool as it doesn't work anymore on 8.1.7.2.1 on NT!!

    Hi Andreas,
I've changed the permissions to 775 and changed the ownership of /sapcd (volume name) to orasid:dba (including all files within the staging area /sapcd/ora-patch).
So the permissions and ownership seems to be fine.
I've also ran your suggested commands but the issue still exists.
I'm now liasing with our UNIX guy to check if there is any underlying permission issues on the volume (sapcd) that may be causing this problem.
In the mean time, let me know if you have any further thoughts.
    Thanks,

  • VS2013 suddenly unable to read database schema on Azure server

    Hi,
I have 2 databases on an azure server. Everything worked well until yesteday: VS2013 is now unable to read any database schema on this Azure server (same operations on an SQL EXPRESS instance are performed without problem).
When I try to open any table definition, I have "the designer encountered an error while loading the table definition"
When I try to rebuild after update the model (EF6) from database (I added a stored procedure), I have:
"The target database schema could not be retrieved. Unable to reconnect to database: Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. " (note that when I launched "update
model from database", I had no problem. The fuss happens during the build).
But I still can read data and execute procedure from Azure using VS 2013. I did not alter any credential. Using the same credentials, I still can create/update tables/procédures from Azure portal.
I am a very basic user of VS2013 and Azure, I did not install or create anything weird on it.
I emphisize same operations on an SQL EXPRESS instance are performed without problem.
    Thanks for help.

    Hello Olivier,
Sorry for the inconvenience because of the above issue.
Could you please try the new SSDT (preview) tool and check if you are able to get the table definition or not.

  • Hw to find the tables in the Portal Database

    Hello,
I'm new to this Portals. I would like to know where the database tables stored in Portal Database. We are using the Oracle as the database. Can you please tell me where can I view the database tables.
    thnx in advance
    cheers
    murali

    Hi Murali,
they are stored in a database which has the same name as your instance, for example J2E. KMC tables (most of them - if not all - starting with "KMC_") are stored within the same database as the portal tables are (this wasn't the case for EP5 and EP6 SP2 on 6.20).
Anyhow, you shouldn't touch or trying to access these tables directly. Two reasons for this: (a) there are APIs for (almost) everything which can be accessed from the DB tables, even if sometimes not documented. Anyhow, the DB schema isn't documented, too, so you should choose the "upper layer"; (b) the DB schema is subject to change without notice (and this is also done regulary); whereas the released (=documented) APIs are stable and the non-released are at least quite stable, too.
    Hope it helps

  • Moving exporting Portal Database

    Hi,
I have an ias9i v1.0.2 istalled on on Compaq Tru64 Unix ( node A ) and the portal schema's v3.0.6.6.5 installed on an oracle v8.1.6 database on another
    Tru64 Unix box ( node B ).
The Unix box where I have the portal database is a low configuration one.
    I have another Tru64 Unix box with a better configuration and I have a fresh 8.1.7 database installed on it ( not 8.1.6 ) ( node C ).
I want to move / copy / export the portal database from node B to node C with
    minimum steps.
Can I do it this way?
1- take full export of database on node B.
2- do full import on node C.
    2. Run "SSODATAN" from node A to connect to node C instead of B.
    3. Grant Connect through... privilage.
will this work or am I missing some steps here?
    Appreciate your prompt response.

    Hi maruti Rao ,
All Gives U gud Idea..here i give u some brief procedure.First of all u need to add 2 jar file in ur project structure for proper working of "com.sap.security.api.IUser" Interface. After that for retriving Users data Stored on LDAP Server.
If you are using an LDAP directory as a data source for your user-related data, the ‘logical’ attribute names used by the Java application programming interface (API) of SAP User Management Engine (UME) must be mapped to the ‘physical’ attribute names used in the schema of your corporate LDAP directory.

  • Diagram of Portal Database Organization

Where can I access an ER diagram which shows the organization and relationships of Portal's databases?

I took Microsoft Visio and Imported the Portal 30 schema and it drew out all the relationships, columns & tables for me. Very helpful to look at once in awhile.

  • Help!! Database Schemas

I'm a newbie in Oracle and OracleAS Portal, i'm doing my professional practices and i need a guidence.
I have a lot of questions but I'll start with this:
I don't completely understand what are the database schemas, I created one and I create tables in that schema and added data to those tables, bur I can use them...
so by creating an schema did I create sort of a database or not?
why do i have trouble connecting to that schema? like i tried to create a database link but this error came out:
The database link was created successfully, however, connection to the remote database using the link TRY2 cannot be established. (WWV-17135)
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified (WWV-11230)
Failed to parse as PRUEBA - Select 'Passed' from dual@TRY2 (WWV-08300)
or when i try to connect using SQL throws this error:
Connection wasn't stablished. [Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was: desarrollo06:1521:PRUEBA ]
    DunkelBlume

    Dunkel,
A database can contain many schemas. If you created a schema in Portal, you will not have created a new database. You do have a private space in the Portal database that you can use to create tables, as you have found out.
From elsewhere within Portal you don't need to create a database link. You can refer to the tables you created using the syntax SCHEMA_NAME.TABLE_NAME
You will have to grant access privileges to the tables to the user you are using to access them.
The easiest way to build a portal application is to create a database provider that is based on the schema you have created (if the schema is in the Portal database). Then all your tables are instantly available to any portal objects you care to create.
If your schema exists on a remote database server, then you will have to create a database link. My preferred way to do this is to create a schema on the Portal application server to contain the database link. I then create synonyms of the remote database tables, which effectively fools Portal into thinking they are local objects. The only exception to this are tables with LOB columns (BLOB, CLOB, etc) which won't work across a database link.
    Hope this helps,
    Patrick.

  • How can I connect to a different database schema, other than adobe?

I'm building an application where I want to use a different database for it,for storing additional data for the users(different from "edcprincipaluserentity" table in "adobe" database stores)..How I can connect to my database schema created in MySQL from Workbench,to assign tasks to my users, using the Process Management/Assign Task service?

You can only assign task to user that are known by the LiveCycle User Manager.
When you configure LiveCycle, you can tell it where you want to get the users from. They can be created them locally in the local database, or synchronized from an LDAP directory in which case it'll read the users from LDAP and make a copy of some of the properties to the internal LiveCycle database.
Bottom line, all users have an id (in the edcprincipalentity table) in the adobe database.
If you need your users to come from a different database, then you need to customize the SPI (security provider interface) so that you can synchronize the users coming from your external database. Again, this is a customization since out of the box, we don't synchronize against external database. But it is possible, the API is there and other customers have done it.
I hope this clarifies things a bit.

  • Portal Database -- What it is? Can we store data in Portal itself?

    Hi Experts,
Can you please let me know what is portal database?
Can I store some information like Emp No and Tel No in Portal itself?

    Hi Gaurav,
1.Portal Database holds the portal related data like iviews, worksets, pages, roles etc.

  • Installation stuck at Create database schema Phase 13 of 27

    Hi
I am installing the Netweaver 7.01 SP3 and have already removed it completely after getting stuck at the same installation step. Do not know what is going wrong. A small extract of the log is shown below. Any advice on how to proceed will be helpful. I know when einstalling it has to be removed completely which I did using uninstallation and then clean up tool. But again it is stooping at the same step. I had let it run more almost two days but of no use. My system configuration is good enough with 2GB RAM etc.

    Thanks in advance

Guess you are talking about sapinst.log file. Below are the last few lines after which it did not proceed
Do see the last step create DB schema....... The previos log was from sapinst_dev.log
Oliver I have a doubt could it be becuase of the host name.
The host name of my machine is "skumar278-1" with DNS domain name for SAP system "asiapac.globalcsc.net"
Could this be the reason for the problem i am facing i.e installation getting stuck at phase 13 Create DB schema.... Other than this I cannot see anything else which can go wrong.. Do have the DHCP server available..
The page file as per the ram settings i.e for 2 GB should be 3072 so I have set it to the same. Though
    the prerequisite page shows
"For the selected services at least 7138 MB swap space are recommended. Current value: 2851 MB. (Updated 2005-06-24)"
    Can this be the reason???
Also I just looked at the services file.. there are about about 4-5 different files with the name services .3 services.4 ...  services.5 etc als there is no entry for port 3900 3600 & 8000.. .. do not know what to do... Please suggest..

  • No data in Portal Database tables for Activity Report

    Hi experts,
I've developed an Activity Report application in SAP Portal 7.0, which went live but the report shows no data.
We are pulling data from 2 portal database tables: WCR_WEBCONTENTSTAT and WCR_USERPAGEUSAGE
In non production environment there is data in the report but there is no data in the production environment.
The Activity Report service is already activated/started and set to true.
What could have caused this? And what should we check now?
What other configurations/setup should be done?
    Regards,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
Those are the aggregated tables. If they are not filled with data although the Portal Activity Report is activated, you should check whether the aggregation finished successfully.
In the older SPs there were some problems that were fixed in later SPs of 7.0.
In order to have the latest version of Portal Activity report, you can check SAP note 1084379 - Portal Activity Report - Latest Version (SDA file).
You can compare the SP via the MANIFAST file, as it contains the version and SP number.
In order to troubleshoot problems in Activity Report, you can follow SAP note: 1690023 - Portal Activity Report - Component-specific Note
Some basic checks that you can do:
Run query on the raw data tables to check since when there is data in those tables:
    select min(timestamphour) from SAP<SystemID>DB.WCR_WEBCNODESTAT;
If there is too much data from long time ago, then you should delete the old data, and leave only the new data (there is anyways retention time for the data to be kept).
If there is no data, then it means that the Portal Activity Report does not collect data, and not really activated (usually this is not the case).
The aggregation runs every top of the hour, so you can check in the default traces for an error during that time.
In most of the cases something went wrong while aggregating the data.
As a result the aggregation is not finished, so the transaction is not being committed, and the aggregated tables stay empty.
If there is a DuplicateKeyException in the trace, you can follow SAP note 1054145 - Duplicate Key Exception.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
    I hope this information helps,
    Thanks & regards,
    Michal Zilcha-Lang
