Portal R2 and reports 6i

Is it possible to view a report 6i report from Portal R2?
The report exists on server1 running Reports 6i server and must be viewed by a server2 running Portal R2?
What components are necessary on server1 and server2 to achieve this?
We performed a basic portal installation on server2 and cannot find the reports security portlet in the Administer section. Some documentation said we must customise the page and set the portlet visible but we can't find it. Can anyone explain what additional steps are needed.
Thanking You.
S shah.

Suraj,
You need Reports 9i Services to communicate with Portal 9iAS R2. When installing Reports 9i services, it will automatically enable the Reports Security portlet in Portal r2. Then you can use Reports 9i services to run the 6i report.

  • Portal GUI and reports are not opening correctly once opened from any client explorer

    HI,
If I try to open portal admin page and discoverer to view reports using browser installed on same unix server (Using Xwindow) , everything is opening perfect. while If I open from any client machine the browser doesn't show things correctly , not able to click links ,not able to open drop down list...

Ok so I saw this issue recently and it was effecting one user for specific documents.
The fix was not very technical but try and see if this fixes it:
Click View -- Arrange ll -- Select Cascade
This should bring up the document correctly
    Maximize the working Sheet
    Minimize the same Sheet
    Then maximize the Sheet again
    Then close the Sheet
    Close excel
    Open up the file

  • I am using the  portal forms and reports in the locally built providers and

need to find a way to use a dynamic LOV for select and then submit retrieve the data in a report. Anu help would be greatly appreciated.

If you accept a very basic form parameter, you can use the form automatically generated by any report component. Before, you have to create dynamic LOVs and map these LOVs to your parameters in report definition.
If you need a sophisticated parameters form (saying a "nice" form), you have to design either a regular form component (based on a dummy procedure which will call the report you made with the parameters), or a dynamic page which will call the same report. In this last case, (the better choice in my opinion) , you can embedd calls to package utility(portal.wwv_ui_lovf.show) which generates dynamic LOVs, inside the <oracle> tag.

Identity Management and SSO are not installed, why they are used for?IDM and SSO is used for user authentication.
You can search for details about that.

While connecting to the base with the help of Visard I open Oracle Forms Builder by and create a primitive form. Everything is good. All are shown. I press Run Form which is written as Oracle Forms in browser and suggests keeping a clear file. Particularly in applied file!
Print screen of my monitor yo can see: http://www.sql.ru/forum/actualthread.aspx?tid=678852
Thanks for attention.the port which you have mentioned is it WLS_FORMS_PORT or any other.
Try running default Forms port WLS_FORMS_PORT that will be 9001
or check for the WLS_FORMS_PORT in the portlist.ini file.
Also are you getting any exception in the Java console.?

  • SAP Netweaver Portal - Folder structure and report publishing strategy

    Hi gurus,
I'm working on a project in which we are publishing BW reports in SAP Netweaver Portal (prior to this, we were using SAP Bex Browser) organizing it by Department (workset, 2nd lvl of navigation), Business Processes (workset, 3rd lvl of navigation) and "iview types" (transactions, queries, dashboards and so on). On 1st level we have a workset simply called "Reports".
For each PFCG role we have on BW (ABAP Server), we created a portal role and defined which of the higher navigation tiers is visible to users (delta-linking the top level navigation worksets to the portal role and setting visible accordingly) and then we assigned Portal roles to the appropriated Group (PFCG role) so all users that have access to certain PFCG role can have access to the corresponding Portal role.
    For example:
In BW (ABAP) we have a PFCG Role: Sales PMR Analysis - Administrator, which grants access to Sales Infoproviders, queries and data for PMR analysis. The user that have access to it, should be able to see:
    |Reports|
    |Sales Administration|
    v PMR Analysis
      > Web Queries
      > Transactions
      > Dashboards
      > Workbooks
In Portal we create a workset that has: "Reports" and under it, all Departments (Sales Administration, Financial, Services, Human Resources and so on) set as "not visible". We create a Portal role called PMR Analysis and add the Report/Departments workset, set Sales Administration as visible and add worksets/folders named PMR Analysis, Web queries, Transactions, etc, and all the corresponding iviews under it.
If we assign this new Portal role to the Group of the corresponding PFCG role, the user will see exactly as the example from above.
Pros: The users have a clean view of the reports he/she has access.
Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
So, I'd like to know how other consultants are defining this kind of folder structure and report publishing strategy in Portal. Ideally we would like to be able to have:
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
I'd appreciate if you guys can share your experience on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leandro

This is not a refutation: your BW developers/consultants should be able to write reports, which points you in case of insufficent backend rights. EP is not designed to be familiar with ABAP security concept and cant take any influence at it.

    Yes, bad idea.
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
As you already wrote on your own, this would be not good
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
This is not covered by SAP, if you wanna provide that, develop it on your own.
    cheers

    Hi
In Design Studio open the Order and in the permissions tab you can add Flexible Headers.
Flexible headers are additional columns of data that OSM Web client users can add (through the preferences settings) to their Worklist, Notification, and Query view lists.
You define which data nodes the users can add in the Flexible Header field. The roles associated with the order can add these data nodes to their view lists so that they can view the data without having to access the corresponding editor.
Click the Add button to access a list of data elements defined in the order template. The Description name you enter appears in the column header of the OSM Web client Worklist, Notifications, and Query views.

You can use javascript to do this. In the onChange event you can call a new url.
    window.open(new_page_url_with_report);
