  • Consume Portal Service from J2EE web application

    hi, i am a newbie to portal content development. My team have developed a J2EE web application to be run on the portal. Is it possible to consume a Portal Service from J2EE web application? If possible, deeply appreciate if you could provide some guidelines. Kindly advise. Thanks.

    Hi Theodore Yu,
    You need to expose your portal service as a webservice to consume it in a j2ee web application.
    For exposing a portal service to webservice check this link

  • Consuming a webservice from a portal service...

    Hello all,
    I am playing around with the example code for imlimenting a federated search (found in the km section) and was trying to use a webservice call to google as an example of a the federated search.
    I generated a client side portal service (from the goodle wsdl) and I am now trying to access it form the search virtual index service I wrote...
    I someone can point me in the correct direction that would be great... I was looking at the following blog Accessing an External Web Services in Portal which helped setup the webservice but I find the code used to access it does not help. For one thing I can not find the IServiceName class anywhere in the portal or j2ee javadoc or jat files.
    Cheers,
    D.

    Hi ,
    I am getting the problems while consuming the web services in portal component.
    I am not able to call the methods of web services.
    look at my code.
    IListServiceName client=
    (IListServiceName) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources ().getService (IListServiceName.KEY);
         GetListResponse glr= client.getList();
    frist line is working fine.
    In my web service i have a method called GetList().
    Any way i have to call that method and get the result.
    But there are other classes which are automatically generated when i consumed the web service, like      GetListResponse().
    When i try to call client.GetList(); it gives the error at run time, No error in the code but the errors are coming at run time.
    Where is the problem? other things like proxy settings, etc i have done.
    What could be the problem? Can any one suggest.
    Regards

  • DB access in Web Dynpro Portal Service / or EJB with WebService ?

    Hi,
    I will develop a web dynpro application which will run in the EP and use an DB. How are the best practices in this scenario ? Should I use a Web Dynpro Model (EJB or WebService) for the persistence operations or should I use Portal Services ?
    Regards
    Flo

    Thanks,
    ok some words more... , I want to find out the differences between VC, PDK and Web Dynpro. Most of the parts of the application will be written in Web Dynpro. It´s possible to access portal services in Web Dynpro. But not with a Web Dynpro Model, so will going to use EJB/Webservice.
    But here I have one more question... I am wondering why EJB a n d Webservice in combination !?!? Can´t I only write a Webservice o r a EJB to achieve the DB connectivity ?
    Thanks

    Hi Ozzie,
    in newer NWDS versions this wizard doesn't exist any more.

    I personally didn't create a web service by this description however. I just created a normal Java class and created a Web Service out of this class (using EAR deployment).

  • Portal Webservice from Portal Service

    Hello community...
    I'm trying to build a Portal Webservice from a Portal Service, but the wizard doesn't appear in my Portal Application Object. There are only Portal Components, Portal Services and a RF Component Wizard. Are there any options configuring the NWDS to show the other wizards like the "Portal Webservice from Portal Service" one or do I have an old version of the nwds (7.0.14)?

    Hi Ozzie,
    in newer NWDS versions this wizard doesn't exist any more.

  • Where to find  Portal WebService from Portal Service

    Hello,
    I've managed to create a portal service. i would now like to use it as a web service.
    I've found document describing the process, however when try to create a portal object I'm proposed with the choice for portal service, Portal Componant and KM Componant , but not the needed "Web Service from portal Service" .
    Does anyone know what you have to get/add/activate to have this option ?
    i'm on NWDS version 7.0.14
    regards
    Guillaume PATRY

    Hi Guillame,
    To expose your Portal Service as a Web Service, follow the steps :
    1). Select the project containing the Portal Service you wish to expose as a web service.Generate Portal Web Service with PDK Wizard by choosing Portal Web Service From Portal Service.
    2). Select the interface by clicking the browse button.You can only expose the interface that are defined in your Portal Service Project.
    3). Select the method you want to expose to the web service.WSDL files will be generated.
    4). The portalapp.xml will be automatically updated with the WSDL entries.
    5). Deploy the Portal Service on Portal.
    6). View the Web Service on Portal in the following path :
    System Administration --> Support --> Portal Runtime --> SOAP Admin --> Web Services
    7). The generated WSDL can be viewed with the URL :
    http://<server>/irj/servlet/prt/soap/com.sap.portal.prt.soap.<servicename>.
    Hope this does solves your problem.
    Do award points if found helpful.

  • Cannot find the class file for com.sap.portal.services.api.connectorgateway

    Hi,
    I was trying the "How to BI JAVA SDK in a Portal iView and get the following error.
    The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for com.sap.portal.services.api.connectorgateway.IConnectorGatewayService. Fix the classpath and try rebuilding this project.
    I have the following in my portalapp.xml file
    <property name="SharingReference" value="com.sap.portal.ivs.connectorservice"/>
    and i have also added the jar file "com.sap.portal.ivs.connectorservice_api" in the set of lib's
    Has some faced a similar issue? or can someone suggest how I could possibly resolve this.
    Thanks,
    Smitha

    Hi Smitha:
       My webdynpro dc was build failed for "This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.client.dynamic.content.GenericObject (typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath)".
    How should i do?  Thank you!

  • Calling a abstract portal component from portal service

    Hi
    Can i access a abstract portal component from portal service?
    My requirement is i have a method called getsessionID in portal service. My portal service is enabled as a webservice. Who ever consumes my webservice they will call this method.
    This method in portal service should call a method in abstract portal component to return the session id of the user.
    is this possible.
    Thanks in advance
    Kishore

    Hi Kishore,
           This is impossible. The AbstractPortalComponent is a servlet and it can only be executed via URL. It is easy to execute the component via url but you have to pass the logon information. Also it will run under a user context that you have specified(while passing the logon information) when calling the url. I think you ought to consider a different approach.

  • Trouble creating a portal service

    Hi,
    We are trying to create a portal service with the DeveloperStudio (7.1) and are having lots of problems. We are creating the project with the "Portal Application Project" and then creating the service via "Portal Application Object".  This worked well in the old 7.0 environment.
    We can find the services via nwa and it says there that they are running but we have no indication that they have really started, because the functionality isn't be used. The logger is not being fired either.
    Checking the traces we are finding strange warnings like "Web Model Builder: WEB-INF/web.xml is not Java EE 5 compatible, because of this annotations will not be processed." or "BcaClassFinder.addResources Can not open zip fileD:\usr\sap\CE1\J00\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\deploy\work\deploying\TestServices.ear1215787665722\META-INF\sda-dd.xml it is not a valid zip archive"
    We created another service without any code from us and we are still getting strange errors.
    We also changed the permissions for the service to "Everyone" and this still didn't help.
    Our functionality can be packed in some other sort of service - it doesn't have to a portal service. The main requirement is that the service is restarted after a server restart.
    Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be or what sort of a service might be more appropriate?
    Thanks.

  • How to log exceptions and imp logging info in Portal Service via ILogger?

    Hi Experts,
    I m trying to use ILogger for my application.
    Information about my application:
    I have created a Portal Service and exposed it as a Web Service which is deployed as a PAR file on to the SAP J2EE Engine.
    I need to use the Logging facility of ILogger in this Portal Service.
    I have written the following code in the Init() function of the Portal Service
    public void init(IServiceContext serviceContext)
           mm_logger = serviceContext.getLogger("com.persistent.pankaj");
    I have put the logger.xml in the logger folder of PORTAL-INF
    my logger.xml is as follows:
    <Server>
    <Logger name="testLog" loggerInterface="com.sapportals.portal.prt.logger.ILogger" locationName="com.sap.portal.testLog" pattern="%d # %20t %15s %m #" isActive="true">

    <param filename="logs/com.persistent.pankaj.log" append="true">
    </param>
    </LoggerClass>
    </Logger>
    </Server>
    On deploying my portal service as a web service
    I m unable to get the logs.
    I even dont know where will i get the log file, means wat is the exact location where i can check my log results
    I m a newbie for this
    Please help me out
    Help will be rewarded n appreciated
    -pankaj

    Hi Pankaj,
    In your init method try this code to create the logger:
    ILogger logger = PortalRuntime.getLogger("testLog");
    In your logger.xml the logger name was testLog and not com.persistent.pankaj so while creating logger you should use testLog in the above code.
    By default all the logs are written to defaultTrace.log files, to check them read this:
    Portal Runtime Logs
    If you want to log in a seperate logfile then you should set a seperate log destination, which is not recommended on productive systems due to performance problems.
    Also read these to know how to set seperate log destinations:
    Netweaver Portal Log Configuration & Viewing (Part 3)
    Netweaver Portal Log Configuration & Viewing (Part 1)
    Netweaver Portal Log Configuration & Viewing (Part 2)
