PORTFOLIO FORMAT LOST

. I am new to using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I created a pdf portfolio and burned it to a disk. I made sure the portfolio had burned to the disk properly and sent it to the engineer. But the engineer sent it back saying it was just a bunch of pdf files with no organization whatsoever. it's like the format of the portfolio didn't work for him. We tried it on three different computers in our office and it worked fine on all of them, but didn't work on two of theirs. I have recently done other portfolios for them and they were fine. I have not idea why, can someone help me please?

The project manager who took it over and watched them open it says  they have adobe acrobat 9. The office manager took it home and it worked on his home computer too and he only has acrobat reader. What I am doing is putting together Operation & Maintenance manuals. We are in construction so we put in a lot of new equipment etc. Is there another way in adobe to do put something like this together that might be more versitile as far as others reading it goes (essentially they are books)? They only recently started asking for electronic copies of the manuals so I don't know Acrobat well, and what I do know is just from trial and error (self-taught). I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

  • Formatting lost when exported to excel

When I export a worksheet results to excel the formatting is being lost like in my worksheet I wanted a line and space for every grouped item which is lost in excel sheet. Is there a way get around for this ?
    Thanks

Not exactly sure what formatting you're having a problem with, but I'll list some of the points I can think of, of exporting to Excel and will hopefully cover it. I believe you may be referring to point 1 below, but just in case ...
    1. If you have group sort on for a column or more, then when exported to Excel, you won't have those 'blank' values for the column(s) that's grouped. That's why when you know someone will be exporting to Excel, it's a pain as all group sorts are usually taken back off (which can screw up exactly what you're trying to point out in the workbook).
    2. If you have a page -> item (ie: lots of values you pull down like a LOV), then I believe, that you won't get an Excel worksheet for each value in the LOV but only for the one currently displayed when you performed the File -> Export.
    3. When you export to Excel, you only get actual values, no functions of how it was calculated (ie: it'll be static, not dynamic).
    4. You can export to Excel using Plus and might not get the formatting characteristics you want in Excel. I've seen users specifically bring up Viewer just to get the formatting characteristics (colors, fonts, etc.) when they export from that Disco version.
    5. Sometimes when you export from Disco to Excel, that actual value that gets posted in Excel is different. I know ... it sounds wierd, but it's a fact. The problem is NOT Disco, but is a problem with Windows and a setting has to be altered (although I'd have to hunt what that setting is now though). However, I've only seen this happen a few times, so definitely not the norm.

  • Formatting lost in the text file, got after zipping.

    Hello ABAP gurus,
A text file has to be zipped .I have used the class method CL_ABAP_ZIP-SAVE() to create a zip file in the application server.    The zip file is double clicked and the text file is opened.

  • TOC format lost when reopening document

I have just received a replacement Intel Core 2 Duo iMac for my previous Intel iMac. I firewired over all my files and programs to the new machine. I then tried to open a large document which had been created using my own templates on my previous iMac.
On opening this file the placement of all the text boxes, graphics and pictures has been lost. On investigation I have discovered that the problem is to do with the loss of formatting in the TOC - the style for one of the TOC headings changes to a larger, embolden font, which knocks the TOC onto two pages, which then affects all the other pages. By the end of a 44 page document, it has increased the pagination to 50 pages. The non-text layer objects, as they are 'fixed on page' remain where they were originally, but their interaction with the text layer creates a complete mess. Reducing the TOC back down to one page does not help, as all the graphics then move up with the surrounding text instead of staying put.
I have spent this afternoon reformatting the whole document from scratch. I then saved my changes, but on reopening as the TOC formatting has changed, then the document is in the same state as it was before.
Although I have experienced this TOC problem before, it is only since I migrated to this iMac that it has had upset all the formatting of the document. Previously if I reduced the TOC back down to a single page, the text and graphics interacted correctly and there was no additional adjustments to be made.
Is there any way that I can make the TOC stable so that it does not have such a detrimental affect on a large document?

You're welcome.  Just to be clear -
All links in a TEMPLATE file should be one of three kinds -
    1.  Relative to the template file, e.g.,
<a href="../ (meaning that you must go up one level from the template folder
to reach the root of the site, hence all other files, since none of them
should be in the templates folder)
    2.  Relative to the site root, e.g.,
<a href="/ (meaning that one would begin looking for the linked file at the
root of the site and follow the pathing from that point)
    3.  Absolute, e.g.,
<a href="http:// (meaning that the link is to a page external to the site).
If you see any DOCUMENT RELATIVE LINKS that don't begin with "../" in a Template file, you can be sure that something is wrong.

  • Formatting Lost in Child Page

I have created a template. When I create a child page from the template most of the formatting is lost. There is no bg image for the body, no bg images for my columns, and the footer floated off to the right somehow.
I can't really provide a link for this because these are native files, but does anyone know what would cause a problem like this?

  • Footnotes Format Lost Upon Conversion

Upon export from .pages to .doc and reimport from .doc format to .pages, footnotes lose an element of their format. The italics of certain words (The title) is lost. It happens when I export/import in rtf too. Any ideas how to retain the integrity of the style? I don't want to be forced to use Word.
I tried another processor and Nisus-Word, Word-Nisus does not have this problem.
    Any ideas?
    Andjevsky

Pages is no where near 100% compatible with MsWord.
You could try OpenOffice (free) or the dozens of other word processors available for the Mac.
If you need to constantly go back and forth, you will need to probably stick with MsWord itself.

  • HELP - Formatting Lost with Upload to Server

    Hi
I have spent ages redoing my website and have just uploaded it to the server from dreamweaver but it has lost all the formatting and is not showing backgrounds or even the correct fonts.  I am pretty new to this but can you tell me what I have done wrong? the background is there but the body background is missing and the fonts/spacings are all wrong so you can't read the site at all, but it looks perfect in dreamweaver!?

Have a look at the following line
    <link href="file:///Macintosh HD/Users/zoebyres/Documents/thrColFixHdr.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
The online site cannot find this file because it is pointing to a location on the local Macintosh. Change the location to point to a file on the server.

  • Crystal 2011 - Formats lost when published to CMC

    Hi team,
    Here's my issue...
Have exported a Crystal 2009 report and saved it into 2011.
I noted that some of the formats had changed slightly. i.e. font size, paragraph line spacing
Fixed these, ran the report from crystal 2011 and exported the report to PDF, looks great!
Published the report to CMC and ran a test hoping to get the same results, however this time the formats are gone?
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong, please.
    Thanks,
    Simon

Thanks for your reply, the formats are being lost when I export to PDF.
We wonder if the problem is something to do with the way the text was formatted in the older version of crystal and that exporting and importing into Crystal 2011 has lost some of this.

  • Export to Excel Formatting Lost

I've got a CR designed such that the report prints out a separate page for each grouping of data bay a certain data field.
The Crystal format and PDF format look beautiful and the paging is perfect.  Yet when I export to Excel it all runs together and does not page correctly at all.  Plus the formatting is totally screwed.
Is there a secret to getting the Excel export to behave as the report was written?

You're right that really doesn't tell you much.
The formatting is probably fine for it being an Excel file. Whereas the Crystal viewer and the PDF viewer isolate each page from the other, the Excel has the pages on same screen by its very nature.
I think what I may have to do is create another report that basically creates a separate Excel file for each grouping.  I've got screen shots but the content is NDA cept I could pobably zip and send to your email if that's possible or a ftp site......Can the Crystal Report detect Excel export and if so create as many Excel files as groupings?

  • Printing Crystal report using Generic Text output - formating lost

Hi. I have an accounting system using Crystal to generate it's business forms, in particular invoicing as reports. Recently we have installed new printing system that needs generic text to capture and create the business forms (invoices) into a graphic and text. When Crystal sends data to Generic Text Printer, you can view it ok as a preview but it moves text around , bunches it up and formatting is never the same for two documents. I need resolution as the printing software needs fixed text in a specific location within the data file.  Is there a way in Crystal to format fields so they dont move the data and bunch it up. The business forms written in Crystal have sub reports that are supressed if no data is to be printed, but finding text is moving and hard to capture a fixed location in text file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your responses.
Yes, I'm using a bundled version that came with VS 2005.
I'd love to download this update, but I cannot get there! I don't have an login and password for this site, and I don't know how to get them.
This is all I'd found about this issue in this thread:
    http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=844
"I opened an incident with Business Objects.  They said there is not a way to do what we want to do with the Crystal Reports for .NET assemblies.  They are going to implement a way to create a postscript file and include it in Service Pack 3 of Crystal XI Release 2.  They would not say how the postscript will be created (ie, ExportToDisk or any other method), only that they would include it in CRXI Release 2 SP3 which they intend to release sometime this coming winter. "
"Just an update...this has been fixed in Crystal XI Release 2 Service Pack 3.
I just finished testing, and it now allows you to print to a file without prompting the user.  We are now able to create a postscript file."
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Adobe Reader X - Format lost during Control+C, Control+V

I use Adobe Reader X (version 10.1.3.23) to read my manuals in PDF format.
Here is an example of those manuals :
    http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp4815.pdf
Whenever i try to copy some code or text from those manuals like the results
of commands on Example 3-16 or Example 3-17 in page 37, the format is
    completeted messsed up.
By a simple copy and paste, something that should come this way :
    $ lsdev | grep fscsi
fscsi0          Available     FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol Device
fscsi1          Available     FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol Device
    comes this way :
    $ lsdev | grep fscsi
fscsi0 Available FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol Device
fscsi1 Available FC SCSI I/O Controller Protocol Device
and then i need to spend a lot of time fixing and formating.
When this is done thru the PDF XCHANGE VIEWER, things works like a charm and
all formatting and spaces and character are preserved but unfortunatelly
my company doesn't allow  me to use the PDF XCHANGE VIEWER.
Is there any way to fix the Acrobat Reader X ?
    thanks !

    No clues about it ????

  • Email format lost in draft folder

Is there a way to keep the formatting when saving an email to the draft folder?
I'm using Yosemite, and when saving an email to the draft folder, upon reopening it, it loses its 'rich text' format (even if I select the 'Rich Text' option in the 'composing' tab of preferences), hence all the hyperlinks, font formatting, lists, etc.
I suspect it's a bug, but does anybody have any suggestion? Thx

I still don't know WHY the mail draft disappeared (anyone an idea?), but at least I have it back!
I went to home>Library>Mail>POP-xxx>Drafts.mbox>Messages and from there entered TM, went 2 days back where I found it.

  • Formatting lost importing Pages to iBooks Author

I having a problem importing a text file from Pages '09 to iBooks Author maintaining some formatting.
My Pages document has some text in bold and some in bold and italics in addition to normal text.  Everything is in Arial font in Pages.
When I import the document into iBooks Author all the bold italic text shows up as normal text.  About 75% of the bold only text shows up as bold and the rest as normal.  When the bold words are in the middle of other text, the bold format is maintained.  When the bold text is at the start of a line it shows up as bold or normal after the import.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Check the styles in use on the Pages side versus the styles applied on the iBA side....
Test to see if they are reliably honored....

the way that help does? Haven't tried but that might be some
evidence of that help not being straight out of the box. My
thinking is that as a result, the example you point to might not be
    representative.
I do accept there are differences in the way the two browsers
display but what we need to identify is what doesn't get addressed
by the RH functionality that produces a different stylesheet for
Firefox. That stylesheet is meant to convert the styles in the base
stylesheet so that they look the same in Firefox. What we need is
people saying this is the problem **I** face, not pointing out what
is wrong in some other output where it could be down to other
    factors.
So please post here what THOSE differences are and we can
make sure Adobe are aware of them. I can't promise they will all
get fixed. As with any software company, requests get evaluated and
prioritised. But I can promise the issues will get properly
evaluated. We enjoy a good working relationship with the
development team and they work hard to improve the product.
Lest you think I defend Adobe too much, RH7 is not perfect
(what HAT is?) and there have been some teething issues but the
guys have responded to our representations on your behalf and are
doing their level best to fix them. But even before they do that, I
prefer working with RH7 rather than any earlier version.
So everyone, please post here a description of your issues
and feel free to email me screenshots of the same topic displaying
    differently in the supported browsers.
