Crystal 2011 - Formats lost when published to CMC

Hi team,
Here's my issue...
Have exported a Crystal 2009 report and saved it into 2011.
I noted that some of the formats had changed slightly. i.e. font size, paragraph line spacing
Fixed these, ran the report from crystal 2011 and exported the report to PDF, looks great!
Published the report to CMC and ran a test hoping to get the same results, however this time the formats are gone?
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong, please.
Thanks,
Simon

Thanks for your reply, the formats are being lost when I export to PDF.
We wonder if the problem is something to do with the way the text was formatted in the older version of crystal and that exporting and importing into Crystal 2011 has lost some of this.

  • Formatting lost when exported to excel

When I export a worksheet results to excel the formatting is being lost like in my worksheet I wanted a line and space for every grouped item which is lost in excel sheet. Is there a way get around for this ?
    Thanks

Not exactly sure what formatting you're having a problem with, but I'll list some of the points I can think of, of exporting to Excel and will hopefully cover it. I believe you may be referring to point 1 below, but just in case ...
    1. If you have group sort on for a column or more, then when exported to Excel, you won't have those 'blank' values for the column(s) that's grouped. That's why when you know someone will be exporting to Excel, it's a pain as all group sorts are usually taken back off (which can screw up exactly what you're trying to point out in the workbook).
    2. If you have a page -> item (ie: lots of values you pull down like a LOV), then I believe, that you won't get an Excel worksheet for each value in the LOV but only for the one currently displayed when you performed the File -> Export.
    3. When you export to Excel, you only get actual values, no functions of how it was calculated (ie: it'll be static, not dynamic).
    4. You can export to Excel using Plus and might not get the formatting characteristics you want in Excel. I've seen users specifically bring up Viewer just to get the formatting characteristics (colors, fonts, etc.) when they export from that Disco version.
    5. Sometimes when you export from Disco to Excel, that actual value that gets posted in Excel is different. I know ... it sounds wierd, but it's a fact. The problem is NOT Disco, but is a problem with Windows and a setting has to be altered (although I'd have to hunt what that setting is now though). However, I've only seen this happen a few times, so definitely not the norm.

  • Crystal Reports Formatting issues when exporting to Word Editable document

Version: CR XI, I am editing a document exported from CR to Word Editable
When exporting to a Word Editable (.rtf) document the formatting changes.  For example: lines that were drawn in the report do not come across, there  is a tab in front of each line and a carriage return at the end of each line and spacing and justification formatting are not the same.  Is there a way to export to Word Editable and keep the formatting integrity? This report was developed by a third party but I can edit it if needed.

Pages 5 is, as an early reviewer put it, "an unmitigated disaster." Not only does it lack some 100 feautres that are present in Pages 09 (4.3), it is also VERY buggy, A quick look through these discussions will reveal a painful litany of data corruption, files that cannot be opened, lost data, and other anomalies. Links do not export reliably to PDFs, and, as you've discovered, export to .docx format is unreliable. Sadly, the best advice is to trash Pages 5.1 and use Pages 4.3 or — yes, it's come to that — Word instead.

  • Invalid docx file format error when publishing

    Good morning all,
I've been using UPK 3.5.1 Developer for years with Office 2003 (yes, I know we should upgrade, but that's out of my control), and have successfully published many times. After my latest publishing, the following error showed in the Activity Log:
Task: Job Aid / Postprocessing document
Comment: Invalid docx file format odpub://int/PlayerPackage/Temp/03d444ee-681b-406b-aba2-cd4b669702e2_JOBAID.docx
All of the other job aids have published to a .doc format, so I'm not sure why this one is behaving differently. I located the offending topic, and in UPK, the preview provides a similar error when I try to preview the job aid. Strangely enough though, in the published project, the job aid for that topic prints just fine. I know I can just ignore the error since the finished product works, but I'm just wondering if anyone has some insight as to why this error occurred.
    Thanks!

I am having the same issue. It is during export - almost immediately after exporting begins. No file is created.

  • TOC format lost when reopening document

I have just received a replacement Intel Core 2 Duo iMac for my previous Intel iMac. I firewired over all my files and programs to the new machine. I then tried to open a large document which had been created using my own templates on my previous iMac.
On opening this file the placement of all the text boxes, graphics and pictures has been lost. On investigation I have discovered that the problem is to do with the loss of formatting in the TOC - the style for one of the TOC headings changes to a larger, embolden font, which knocks the TOC onto two pages, which then affects all the other pages. By the end of a 44 page document, it has increased the pagination to 50 pages. The non-text layer objects, as they are 'fixed on page' remain where they were originally, but their interaction with the text layer creates a complete mess. Reducing the TOC back down to one page does not help, as all the graphics then move up with the surrounding text instead of staying put.
I have spent this afternoon reformatting the whole document from scratch. I then saved my changes, but on reopening as the TOC formatting has changed, then the document is in the same state as it was before.
Although I have experienced this TOC problem before, it is only since I migrated to this iMac that it has had upset all the formatting of the document. Previously if I reduced the TOC back down to a single page, the text and graphics interacted correctly and there was no additional adjustments to be made.
Is there any way that I can make the TOC stable so that it does not have such a detrimental affect on a large document?

You're welcome.  Just to be clear -
All links in a TEMPLATE file should be one of three kinds -
    1.  Relative to the template file, e.g.,
<a href="../ (meaning that you must go up one level from the template folder
to reach the root of the site, hence all other files, since none of them
should be in the templates folder)
    2.  Relative to the site root, e.g.,
<a href="/ (meaning that one would begin looking for the linked file at the
root of the site and follow the pathing from that point)
    3.  Absolute, e.g.,
<a href="http:// (meaning that the link is to a page external to the site).
If you see any DOCUMENT RELATIVE LINKS that don't begin with "../" in a Template file, you can be sure that something is wrong.

  • Flash Video Lost when Published

I included a flash video in my captivate project. It looks fine in the preview. When I published my project the flash video does not play it just displays a blank slide. I appreciate any advice.

    Hi there
Where are you playing the file from? Did you copy it to a server or are you testing on your own PC and seeing the issue?
If you copied to a server, did you remember to copy the FLV file?

  • Format lost when printing to Generic Text Printer after recent upgrade

We recently upgraded Crystal and now the texty file output from a generic text printer has losst its formatting.
    The text appears like this:
      S
      u
      m
      m
      a
      r
      y
There si an OD character after each letter.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Hi Mike,
That is odd.... What happens if you check on the No Default Printer, save the report and then check it off, or the other way depending on what your original setting is?
If you create a new report do you see the same results?
Also, XI is no longer patchable but you can upgrade to XI R2 for free. Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
To enable the full XI R2 features locate the Keycode link and get a new one for XI R2.

  • Animations lost when published

Help! When I publish my powerpoint preso (saved as 2003 and
created in 2007) I lose animations. For example, I have
successfully used the font color change in past presos and they
publish just fine...in this preso--they are not showing up in the
published file. I probably have changed some setting, but I can't
figure out what the problem is.
    Thanks C

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for sharing this concern. At the moment, Project ROME does not support the animation features from SVG. But, as always, your feedback is appreciated and I've noted this to our team.
    Thanks!

  • Text Format changes when Published Online.

I upgraded from iWeb 06 to iWeb 08 and then my pages online stopped text wrap in the pages. The pages are fine in iWeb, but not when you visit the site. I have rePublished the site, but still the same.

Once I upgraded, I never did a "Publish All to .mac", I just would use the publish button. After I deleted and made the change again and did a "Publish All to .mac, it worked.

  • Video is lost when published - black screen

Our computer running VC2 for the past year or so just crashed. We've reinstalled VC2 on a new computer, and it appears to work fine. However, when we publish to WMV or AVI, the image is just black - there's no video visible despite the fact that we can see the video on the "REview" section of VC2 so we know it's getting captured. We can also publish to .flv and see the video. I've tried updating Windows Media Player, but we already had version 11 and I don't think it did anything. Does anyone have any ideas???
    Thanks!!!

I've got the same issue.  Video is fine when practicing and recording but it doesn't actually record the video.  How about it Adobe?  The first question posted here five years ago was unanswered so is it possible that you have no interest in supporting a product you still sell?

  • Sound lost when publishing to Youtube

Using Adobe Captivate Video Publisher to post a project to YouTube goes through the following steps:
    1) Saving SWF file
    2) Generate video
    3) Accept terms and provide youtube login
    4) Upload video
    My questions:
    1) where does the Publisher application store the video file generated before it is uploaded? I'd like to examine that file. Cancelling the process after generating the video just closes the Publisher application without giving any indication of where the file might be.
    2) The youtube movie generated has no audio, even though the project has audio and publishing to SWF preserves the audio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRcS3G3-aIY). Anyone else ran into this problem?
    About the project:
The project is a recorded demonstration with one widget (http://www.cpguru.com/domainlock-widget-for-adobe-captivate/) and one Advanced Action (cpCmndPause=1 on Exit last slide). There is no other interaction, so I figured the Video Publisher would strip these two features and publish the project without incident.
EDIT: I am using Captivate 7

I thought maybe oen workaround to getting the narration audio into the YouTube movie would be to export the audio from within Captivate, then add it to the video from within the YouTube video management panel. The problems with this approach are:
    1) This is an extremely inefficient way to publish the video to YouTube
    2) The audio will probably be out of sync with the video
    3) Within the Advanced Audio Mangement tool in CP7, I don't see a way to export the project audio as a single file. Rather I can export individual slide audios, which I would have to do for 100 or 150 slides for each project; not practical.

  • Format lost when using template

I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 on my Windows XP PC
I have been following a Dreamweaver tutorial found at http://www.thesitewizard.com which has been very helpful up until now. I am at the stage where I have created my template from my index.html document now saved as index.dwt
I have created the standard editable regions, saved, closed and created a New file from the "Page from Template" using the newly created index.dwt file.
Here is what the index.dwt template file looks like in my internet browser preview and in DW...
and here is what the index.html file looks like in the browser preview and in DW ...
The layout is gone, and the editable regions are at the bottom of the locked template regions.
I have tried to place a link to my temp webserver but it only shows a directory tree and the index file appears much different then the images above so I hope these images are enough to go on.
Thanks in advance for any assitance.

  • Unknown Database Connector Error - when published

    Hi,
Im trying to get a Crystal Report to run when published to my BOXI Enterprise server.  I get the following error when trying to run the report
    CrystalReportViewer
Unable to retrieve Object.Error in File UseTable.rpt: Unknown Database Connector Error
The report runs on my PC using an oracle connection and I have also setup the orace driver and client on the Server and can connect to the database from the server.  I'm using the same TNSNAMES entries on my client that are also on the server.
Could you please respond asap as once this simple issue is resolved I can get on with completing my Proof of Concept.

Hi Dominic. I had a similar problem in the past. When you go to publish your report try this.Select the Object.Select the Process Tab.Select the Database Tab.Select the radio button or option button "Use custom database logon information specified here"Inside the drop down list select Oracle.Enter your server name or tnsname "whatever.world"Enter your database name, this doesn't really matter you can enter anything will work here. (Whatever world - Production)Try that and let me know if that solves the problem.

  • Printing Crystal report using Generic Text output - formating lost

Hi. I have an accounting system using Crystal to generate it's business forms, in particular invoicing as reports. Recently we have installed new printing system that needs generic text to capture and create the business forms (invoices) into a graphic and text. When Crystal sends data to Generic Text Printer, you can view it ok as a preview but it moves text around , bunches it up and formatting is never the same for two documents. I need resolution as the printing software needs fixed text in a specific location within the data file.  Is there a way in Crystal to format fields so they dont move the data and bunch it up. The business forms written in Crystal have sub reports that are supressed if no data is to be printed, but finding text is moving and hard to capture a fixed location in text file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your responses.
Yes, I'm using a bundled version that came with VS 2005.
I'd love to download this update, but I cannot get there! I don't have an login and password for this site, and I don't know how to get them.
This is all I'd found about this issue in this thread:
    http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=844
"I opened an incident with Business Objects.  They said there is not a way to do what we want to do with the Crystal Reports for .NET assemblies.  They are going to implement a way to create a postscript file and include it in Service Pack 3 of Crystal XI Release 2.  They would not say how the postscript will be created (ie, ExportToDisk or any other method), only that they would include it in CRXI Release 2 SP3 which they intend to release sometime this coming winter. "
"Just an update...this has been fixed in Crystal XI Release 2 Service Pack 3.
I just finished testing, and it now allows you to print to a file without prompting the user.  We are now able to create a postscript file."
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Crystal 2011 getting Logon failed IM004 error when using ODBC (RDO)

I just installed Crystal Reports 2011 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.  Sporadically, but way too often (I would estimate about 60% of the time), when I go to set up an ODBC (RDO) connection or refresh an existing report and enter the password, I get the following error:
    Logon failed.
Details: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_Handle_ENV failed
Other times, it just works, with no changed made.  It seems to work slightly more often when using the SQL Server driver (the one for SQL 2000) as opposed to the SQL Native Client or SQL Server Native Client 10.0 drivers.  But not often enough for that to be the solution.
I have tested this with a locally installed SQL Server (on the same machine as Crystal Reports) and remote SQL Servers, with SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008.  Same results.
I have Crystal Reports 2008 installed on the same machine and have not once had this problem.  I have tried using the same ODBC connections I already had from Crystal 2008 with Crystal 2011 and also to create new ones, same results either way.
Is this a known issue, or is there a switch/setting I need to change to make this work consistently?  I am especially puzzled by the fact that it seems random, I have not been able to find any pattern at all.

    Hi Victoria,
MS SQL Server 2008 has a client install now, the MDAC/WDAC doesn't install it as MS used to do with all of their OS's. CR also had to update the use of SQL Server 2008 to include the SQLNCLI10 client engine.
I suggest, if you have not already, install the Native 10 client from either the SQL Server CD or you can download the MSI from MS's site and only use the Native 10 driver.
MS kind of dropped ODBC and moved to OLE DB. The native client actually uses the OLE DB driver so using ODBC just puts another layer on top of OLE DB anyways. It's more convenient to use ODBC for deploying applications but it can affect performance.
Anyways, as noted, CR 2011 is still in Ramp up mode so this issue may have been tracked. If not though you can purchase a support case, if it's a bug then you'll get a refund, if it's a limitation in MS then no refund.
    There is [SP 1 for CR 2011|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007683092011E/cr2011sp1.exe] - http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
Seems to be a problem with that page right now so try again later... and apply SP 1 or wait until it goes GA and test again. If it's still an issue then you can log a case.
Firefox just got updated and it's failing, IE works though...
    Thanks again
    Don
