Porting Oracle 7 related application to Oracle 10

Hello fellas,
Currently I am trying to port an application from a legacy workstation that uses oracle 7 DB to SunBlade1500 which uses Solaris 9 and Oracle 10 database. Unfortunately, I faced alot of problem during object linking process, and most of them related to oracle libraries. Below is the error generated when linking failed :

When I find those libraries, almost most of them are oracle 7 libraries and cannot be found or in oracle 10. Any suggestion what should I do to handle this problem?

To Ora_tech: I have tried to compile and link them without those libraries, but apparently I faced linking error saying that:
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to dbsasmon
To Schavali: Yes, it was written in Pro C. I m not sure tho whether Pro C is as same as Pro COBOL. But what actually happened during compilation is, the pro C source codes are compiled into C++ codes. From there, the C++ is again compiled by using CC compiler. So, I dont think that having pro C compiler or its libraries will help since it will be going to be compiled by CC compiler at the end. Or...maybe I am wrong? LOL
Any suggestion/explanations?

Problem using game-related applications behind lynksis wrt54g v8 router.

Hi everyone. As the topic states I'm having trouble with game-related applications. The thing is that after I added the router to the network so my sister could have Internet connection, my two main game-related apps (Medal of Honor Heroes Dedicated Server & zbattle.net) stopped connecting successfully to some servers (ea nation: for moh account & www.zbattle.net for getting rooms for zbattle.net). Ironically, I can use zbattle.net from my sister laptop and can connect successfully using the wireless connection. I have forwarded the ports and used dmz twice, but nothing from my computer. ZBattle.net tells me there was an error connecting to the server and MoH heroes dedicated server tells me it could not connect to ea nation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Getting host name and port number from an application

Does anyone know how I would be able to get the host name
and port number from an application launched by java webstart ?
This is the host and port of the URL that this application is launched from.

A couple of suggestions:
-The note is about 6.40. Doesn't fit for your server
-Don't!
-Reinstall!

Hi...i'm working on SMS apps...
it's a peer2peer sms apps..and to send a message to the application in the other mobile...we need to specify the port number where the application located....
right now my apps is already able to send msg and received by other phone which do not have the same apps...
so now i want to specify the port number so ythe msg can be specificaly received by the apps..
My question is...how do we know or how do we set the port number?

I have tried all suggested option to solve it but all in vain. Please help me to get rid of this problem

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Related Applications -- Link to R/3 Transactions

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if the related application configuration is mainly for E-Sourcing Integration purposes or if it can be used for jumping into R/3 transaction like with Report-Report-Interface.
In detail my client would like to jump into the purchase order document in R/3 from a detail report in SPM. Is that scenario applicable?

This functionality is used for both, E-sourcing and other application. This can be used to jump to any of the following:
- Specific R/3 transaction
- E-sourcing application
- Yahoo, Google, Bing search engines
- D&B for supplier risk information (or other information)
...basically any application that can communicate using links or web services...

i'm trying to communicate with a server via sockets. i got both an HTTP GET and PUT working using J2SE - but when i try and run essentially the same code in a MIDlet i get the following error ...

here's a little more background. i'm trying to PUT some data on a server - or to be exact my dotMac ( .Mac ) account , and i'm having difficulty figuring out a way of doing it. if i had more control of the server i could write a servlet - but i don't have that level of access, and .Mac doesn't support any 'server' side executable for individual users.
i'd use HttpConnection - but the 'setRequestMethod' doesn't support HTTP PUT's. so i thought i'd try straight sockets - but then the first obstacle i hit is the 'Security Exception' error.
can i get around this error and if so - how ? aka - is there a simple fix to the 'target port denied error'?
     ultimately - i'm just interested 'writing' some data back to the .Mac server. how can i write some data back to my .Mac account from a cellphone ?
     lastly - any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Madhan,
Not sure where you are receiving this error message. Are you receiving errors when creating the related application link or when you launch this link from a report.
When creating a related application link:
First make sure all the webservice communication is working fine.
Second make sure you click the new button (right hand top corner) first before you enter all the link details.
If you are receiving errors when launch the link:
Make sure the link your are trying to access is correct.

Load Scripts for stress testing any OAF related application

This may not be the correct forum. However, i'm sure many of you might have used load scripts to stress test your OAF related application.
Can any of please shed some light on how to make these load scripts for automated testing for finding the performance of OAF appls (like iPro or iExpense)? What tool do we use for these type of Self Serv appls? How can we parameterise some of the session related values inside load scripts?

Answers to these questions are generally dependent on the application server to which you will be deploying, as each application server has its own means of tuning for performance.

Develop/Port Oracle Application on OS390 Z/OS platform

We have an ANSI C application using ODBC to access Oracle or other RDBMS backend. The application runs on Windows and UNIX platforms. We are looking into porting this application on IBM OS/390 z/OS platform. What options do we have?
Is there ODBC manager and Oracle ODBC driver avaiable on z/OS?
On option could be replacing ODBC module with OCI or Pro*C based module. Do Oracle provide a development environment (lib, precompiler, etc.) for z/OS platform?

Porting oracle:thin to weblogic:oracle

Since pstmt.setAsciiSream or setBinaryStream doesn't seem to work for data larger than 4k while using oracle:thin I inserted Blobs or Clobs usually in the following way:
Clob myClob = (Clob)resultSet.getObject("text");
java.io.Writer CLOBout = ((oracle.sql.CLOB)myClob).getCharacterOutputStream();
CLOBout.write(text);I had to port an application from Resin to Bea and had to switch to the Weblogic-Driver, and of course oracle.sql.CLOB doesn't exist there, so I tried again the 'simple' method using pstmt.setAsciiSream / pstmt.setBinaryStream.
To my surprise it even worked with data>4k, while it still produced errors using Resin/Oracle:thin. Does anyone know the reason for that? Or does anyone have a working solution to write Clobs/Blobs for both drivers (Reading is no problem)?

Yes, that would be possible. But I'd like to have the same code run on both Resin with Oracle:thin and Weblogic with the Weblogic driver ;-)

Repository for Oracle RDBMS installation ports (Oracle 12c)

Is there a repository for Oracle 12c where to find the configured ports after installation and above all after any change(s) in configuration?
I think about: listener, OEM, EPG,... ports.

OS Details: OEL 5.9 64 bit.
The portlist.ini is only interesting just after installation, and there not always an entry.
For instance, after I have done my installation (with listener, OEM), I still have an "empty file".
From the documentation:
"If you change a port number, it is not updated in the portlist.ini file, so you can only rely on this file immediately after installation"
"To find or change a port number, use the methods described in this appendix".
This is Appendix F. I scrolled it down, and don't find where to change and view the actual ports.
It seems to me there is no way to:
- See clearly the values of the ports used and for what component.
- Modify these ports and how.
Mayve I miss something, does someone understand it better?

Depends on the version of Oracle.
If Oracle XE, or you are using XDB capability, you use
SELECT dbms_xdb.gethttpport(), dbms_xdb.getftpport() from dual;
and verify using lsnrctl status
Otherwise you look at the Apache config files in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.*
