Porting to ARM LM3S811, Elemental IO PWM issues

Hi all,
Ok, so very quickly I resume what I have done:
- The LM3S811: http://www.luminarymicro.com/products/ekk-lm3s811_evaluation_kit.html
- I used the LM3Sxxxx Generic template to create one for
the LM3S811 as instructed in the porting guide for other ARM controllers using
Labview for ARM module, the simple guide.
- I got to compile a test application and run it
successfully on my new target.
- I then used the Elemental I/O wizard to create the
necessary files based again on the LM3S8962 in the generic folder of LM3Sxxxx.
Both boards share almost all the same IOs, I only changed the PWM 0 and 1 to
use port D instead of B, PWMs 2 to 5 share the same ports, so I didn t changed
them.
- I tested some of the AIOs the GPIOs, and I even got the
OLED display driver from luminary to work.
Now, if I use PWM 2 to 5 they work fine, but if I use 0
or 1, my application will freeze as soon as the Elemental IO node is called in
my program when running on the target.
Am I missing something?
Thx
Lukasz
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Close LV
1. Copy LM3Sxxxx folder and rename the folder to CAN_LUM_Board_LM3811 (Or whatever you wish your target to be called).
    a.    This folder is in: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\Targets\Keil\Embedded\RealView\Generic
2. Modify TgtSupp.ini
    a.    Change the target name to CAN_LM3S811 (whatever you want)
    b.    Change the description to Luminary Micro CAN_LM3S811 (whatever you want)
        [Target]
        name = CAN_LM3S811
        description = Luminary Micro CAN_LM3S811
        eiodirectory = eio
To add the new target to your project
    a.    Open LV and add target by right-clicking on your project name and New Targets and Devices menu.
    b.    Select the option "Other".  You will get a new dialog so you can select the target you just added above.
3. To target small memory microcontrollers you must use the microRTX operating system(LabVIEW ARM uses the full RTX OS as default).  You will also need to edit a function in the code generation of LabVIEW. This is a global edit, so it also changes all targets.  I found that LabVIEW ARM product seems to still work fine with this global edit on the LM3S8962. In the file headless.c comment out the function exit (0) as shown in line 93.
        C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\CCodeGen\libsrc\os\common
4. The way LV ARM works is that it takes the target template in the folder at: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\Targets\Keil\Embedded\RealView\Generic\CAN_LUM_Board_LM3S811 and copies it to the folder where you define your LV project and VI’s.  LV ARM and the KIEL tools then edit these new files for your end application.  As such, we need to edit the template file in the main LV folder so it uses the microcontroller you wish selected.  Open the file LabVIEW.Uv2 in the folder C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\Targets\Keil\Embedded\RealView\Generic\CAN_LUM_Board_LM3S811\Template\Pro ject with the KEIL IDE tools
    a.    Select the LM3S811 Microcontroller.
    b.    Xtal= 6Mhz
    c.    Enable micolib to reduce memory needs for such a small part.
    d.    In Debug and Ytilities, change to Use "Luminary Eval Board"
5. Change Heap size to: "Heap    EQU     0x00000200" in "Startup.s" (Not sure but if not using debugging it can be set to zero)
6. Edit "LM3S_Pins.c" line34 to : "#define PART_LM3S811" and "ARM_Serial.c" line 24 to : "#define PART_LM3S811"
In LV
1. Import eio's from the \generic\LM3sxxxx\eio\LM3S8962
    a. Change PWM 0 and 1 to use port D instead of B
2. Disable debugging, not enough RAM for it.
Thx to gregc

    Photoshop Elements 6 Core Version: 6.0 (20070910.r.377499)
    Issues:

File name picked up as title/description  which is perfect --
But cannot get a bigger background then picture
This means the title covers picture and / or does not show up well.
Ideally I would like a larger canvas on the bottom of the picture so the text can show up against black or some other color without covering the photo.
This should be easy with canvas size but I cannot get it to work in a slide show.
Should also be able to change text color
Do not mind buying an upgrade but want to make sure these issues can be solved

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor Issue

Have downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor from the Mac App Store onto my Mac Book Pro, set iPhoto preferences to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor, but when trying to open a file from my iPhoto library, the following message appears: "unable to complete your request because of a program error". What can I do to resolve this issue?

Are you able to edit an image file that's not in the iPhoto library with PSE 10?
Also the followinjg has some tips on configuring PSE for use inside iPhoto that you may or may not know about:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9/10 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • 2010 i5 MBP USB Ports Not The Same?  Griffin iMic Issue

I have a 2010 15" i5 MBP. I got one of the white iMics and it works fine on the port thats closest to the screen. However, when I plug it in to the port that's closer to the SD slot, it doesn't work. Under the audio settings screen, I see the iMic under Input, and the slider is to the right, but the VU meter doesn't register anything. However, when it's in the USB port by the power adapter, it works as it should.
I have read that certain model MBPs have USB ports that are not the same, and some people have problems with programs like Serato when it's plugged into the front port. Traktor and Serato have even mentioned that on the MBP there is one "good" port and one "bad" port.
Curious if anyone else noticed this. Again, it seems to only affect 2010 i5 MBPs.

    Hi WebBrowser2,
As I understand your query its not a single doubt you are having at all, actually it’s a bunch of multiple doubt you are carrying here in your mind allied to Mac Book Pro (USB Ports are not working).  There might be various reasons behind- not working of USB ports in Mac Book Pro, as you already had searched out various ways to fix all your issues. A few months ago, I faced the same issue as my USB port was suddenly stopped to respond, then I also tried to find various ways to get rid of this issue, and I found an informative blog link which has fixed this issue and make me tension free.

  • Adobe Premiere 4 Elements 4 performance issue

    Hi
I am a new user of Premiere 4 Elements and I completed my first project to get myself through the learning curve. However I experience a serious performance issue on my computer with this product. Sorry about the long post, I tried to give as complete info as possible. Thanks in advance for any advice on solving the issue.
    1. When I open my project, a progress bar stays for several minutes at the near-completed state before the application window opens. Then the window is still frozen for several more minutes (the Windows hourglass displays for about 4 to 5 minutes) before I can actually start using the program.
    2. When I task-switch (e.g. to edit a photo in another application, or to check in Windows Explorer where a file is that I want to open) task-switching is slow, and when I switch back to Premiere 4 Elements, the screen freezes again for several minutes (4 to 6 minutes) before I can continue working. Same happens after I used the option to add media from Hard Drive to the project.
    3. When I press the Play button, the sound sometimes plays while the video preview gets stuck on a single frame. When I wait a while, it seems like Premiere is busy updating the icons on the timeline, and after that, I can play the video again. Sometimes the screen freezes so I canot press the pause button, and the audio just continues playing for a minute or two.
    4. Last night I eventually got the project finished, and started rendering the project to a PAL DVD - quality MPEG. It was still rendering this morning, with the progress bar showing less than a third of progress. At last check it displayed an estimated 16 hours of predicted rendering time, and still increasing the time....
    5. In one week of use, I experienced one to five crashes per evening while using this product.
My input files for the project are existing MPEG files that I loaded from the camera (with it's software) long before I purchased Adobe Premiere. (so I did not use Premiere's feature to import the video). This camera generates a new MPEG file each time you press the start/stop button. I can see hundreds of clips on the camera when I mount it as an external USB hard drive on Windows. I suspect the number of files has to do with my issues, so I need assistance on an improved workflow, given the source format I work with. In my test project the original footage consists of about 140 MPEG clips; about 15 photos sized to PAL DVD size (720 x 5xx), one imported DVD VOB file, and then a menu, a title or two, transition effects, and so on. The final project should render 30 minutes of video, but the original footage is about three times that duration. Can someone please suggest a workflow considering the possibility that I will have to deal with these hundreds of small clips?
The software's box specifies a Pentium 4 and 512 Mb RAM, Direct-X compatibility and 4 Gb HDD space.
    My computer spec's are:
    Intel Core 2, 2.13 GHz,
    2 Gb DDR RAM,
    200Gb Serial ATA HDD, with:
Premiere on partition C: with 25 Gb free,
Project on partition D: with 40 Gb free.
Very entry-level graphics card (purchased the PC with no thought of games or video).
    XP Home is installed.
In Windows Task Manager I notice about One Million Page faults being generated for Adobe Premiere in the periods I mentioned above when Premiere gets stuck. Item 4 above was at 3.5 million page faults with about 25% progress indicated of the rendering process. Is this indicative that I need more RAM?
I have read other posts on this forum that people advise users to have Premiere on one HDD, the swap file on another physical disc and the project on yet another. I can understand the logic, but I checked that my PC was well above the software specifications on the box before I purchased, and I am not so serious about making videos that I would want to upgrade to such a monster PC. Besides if the requirements are such, Adobe should have specified that on the box.
    Thanks, Willem

    Willem,
Looking at your system specs., I see one major bottleneck - your I/O system. You have a partitioned HDD.
This means that the heads on your HDD are being asked to be in several places at the same time. Partitioning is an element left over from a much earlier time in computing and should not be used nowadays, with very few exceptions. I will explain. You have a fixed number of platters and heads on a single HDD. Those heads are what access the data on the platters. In the case of PE, you are asking the heads to be:
    1.) reading the OS
    2.) reading Premiere (your program)
3.) reading & writing the Windows Page File (Windows' Virtual Memory)
4.) reading & writing your media Assets (depending on what you're doing)
5.) reading & writing your Scratch Disk data
6.) reading & writing data for any other Process that requires it
The first step that I'd take would be to add another HDD, and do away with the partition on you Drive0. With two physical (not logical as you have) HDDs, the ideal setup would be:
1.) OS and all programs on C:\
2.) Project, Media and Scratch Disks on D:\
Things would even better, though not to the %, that adding only one additional disk, if you added two. Ideal setup for 3 HDDs would be:
1.) OS and all programs on C:\
2.) Media and additional Assets on D:\
3.) Project and Scratch Disks on E:\
I've also found speed increases by having my Windows' Page File on a separate HDD, but that is overkill, really. Now, I've got 5 internals with 1.75TB of space, so it's easy for me to do this sort of thing.
You have a 200GB SATA HDD (Drive0), and I'd keep that for your C:\ (no partition) and add another SATA in 500GB - 1TB range. If you have SATA II, make sure to go with a new HDD with the exact same connector (SATA, or SATA II). Most on-board controllers can handle 4x SATA channels, so it should not be a big deal.
Most work will come from having to do a complete system backup of your Drive0 (your C:\ & D:\), as you'll need re-partition it. Another way around this would be to leave the C:\ & D:\ partitions, and just move all of your Media, Assets, Project and Scratch Disks to your new physical drive. Keep your D:\ partition, but use it only for storing maybe Audio Assets, that you use infrequently, and the like. Do not partition your new HDD (drive1).
Note on load time: that will speed up somewhat, if you get another HDD, but PE does need time to read it's XML files, that tell it the location of all Assets, then go find them, and verify that they are correct. Only a bit of a speed up there. Almost everything else that you mention, regarding speed, will improve greatly.
Others will have some more ideas, on ways to speed things up, and I'd consider them all, plus the addition of another fast, large physical HDD.
BTW: great post. It is probably the most complete that I've seen in any of the Adobe forums. It's easy to read (good use of paragraphs) and contains all the data, that I could want. I'd hold this up as a model on how to ask a question on these boards.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[EDIT] To let you know, I actually have my Drive0 (500GB SATA II) partitioned (for another reason) and use it just like my second suggestion, re: re-partitioning. My "Movie Music," SFX and minor Assets are stored on my D:\, plus I have my Windows' Page File split over three drives. This after much experimentation. I'd not recommend this, unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands. Just keep it on C:\

  • Photoshop Elements 10 installation issues

I had Elements 9 and just purchased elements 10. I tried to install it and have had not luck. I have called the help desk several times with no luck. I also have Lightroom and use to be able to right click on a picture and edit it in Photoshop elements 9, now it says it will be edited in elements 10, but it does not do anything. I can't figure out how to get it back the way it was. I have tried to uplaod the trial version, the software from the CD I bought, but nothing seems to work. anyone have any suggestions for this?

For such a complex issue it might be best to continue to work with our support team as they can work with you on an individual basis to resolve your difficulties.  If you would like we do have a support document, "Troubleshoot installation problems | Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements | Windows" with steps you can certainly use.
Alternately you can also review your install log files to try to determine the exact error which is causing your difficulties.  "Troubleshoot install using logs | Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements," details how to review the logs which are created when your computer installs Photoshop Elements 10.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 download issue

Files on the download site for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 are not complete. The installation errors out. Should be 1.6GB but only 1.13 GB downloads. I have tried it several times

Thank you very much, Pat, for your great help.   The link has inspired me to download the trial version from the Adobe website and go from there:
"Adobe Download Assistant" was automatically downloaded before the download of the trial version began.  With the "Adobe Download Assistant" up and running, the download of the trial version took within 30 minutes.  I then got to enter the serial code of my already purchased PSE 12 right after installation of the trial version and completed the whole set-up process (without even opening or using the trial version at all).
It is rather counter-intuitive that one should start with a trial download even when he has gone straight into buying the product.  It was as if the trial version was a bridge to facilitate the official download because the trial version provided the "Adobe Download Assistant".  Maybe, it is expected that people would always take a trial before buying?  Or maybe, it is expected that most people would already have the "Adobe Download Assistant" handy?
Anyway, I am glad there is a solution.  In this case, I think the key is to get the "Adobe Download Assistant" which comes with the trial version.  Hope this post will help others who might face the same issue too.
    Many thanks again.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 'Rollback Issue'?

Everytime I try to install Photostop Elements 9, it finishes installing, and just when it starts registering the product, it fails and has to rollback, and the program is uninstalled. Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.
Can anyone help or suggest something I do?

OMG...I have been dealing with this issue ALL day and it is now 11:51 pm!!!  I had purchased a new, sealed, PSE 9 on dvd, tried to install it...almost got to the end and it started rolling back.  got the same screen about the Installshield.  Spent hours researching a fix on the internet...nothing worked.  Finally found and let an Adobe tech take control of my computer.  He tried a couple of different things but the rollback continued.  Then he tried to make another administrator account (I'm on XP media edition) and he hit restart...and was gone.  Then I had to spend a couple hours trying to get my settings and configurations back to the way they were (for some reason the computer reverted to the programs and setting it originally came with and system restore wouldn't work)
Finally got things back to how they were, went on to Adobe and purchased a download copy of PSE 9 from their store.  More money again but I thought if it works I really don't care.  All excited and spent the time downloading the program, went to install it, and same darn rolling back problem.  Tried a couple more times in disbelief...no change.
Then did research into more Installshield problems and possible fixes and then updates, patches, drivers and finally researched reinstall.  Found it finally on c-net, downloaded and reinstalled Installshield (it copied, replaced, fixed, cleaned etc as I watched).  Excitedly I tried to install the downloaded copy of PSE 9...but the rolling back continues!!!!!!!!
I have NEVER had this problem with installing software before (downloaded or hard copies).  Please please please someone figure this out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    Linda

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 9 Freezing Issue

In Adobe Premiere Elements 9, every time I click, the program freezes for at least 30 seconds and sometimes closes.  This happens every time I try to do anything and is very frustrating.
    Personal Computer Specs:
    Quad Core 2.8 GHz CPU
    4 GB RAM
    1 GB GPU
1TB Hard Drive (Plenty of Room Remains)

    Hi Schaef,
I'll do my best to try to explain...
The problem that was causing my issue was that I had chosen the wrong Project Settings.  I tried just playing around with them until the program sped up.
    Here's how to do it:
When you first open Premiere 9 you will see the regular start-up window.  When you click on 'New Project' you will wait a second then see this:
When you see this window, select the name and save destination, then click on 'Change Settings...'
Try playing around with the presets on the left.  If possible, find the option that fits your video footage's particulars.  If that's not available, find one that most closely fits them.
Once you've found a suitable option, try saving the settings and opening the new project.  If you don't notice any difference, than you should start all over to find a different option.  Repeat this until the program has significantly sped up (as it did for me).
If none of this helps, I apologize, my knowledge with the program is not very profound.
Let me know how you make out though!

  • Elements 12 Freezing issues

Photoshop Elements 12 is constantly freezing and the screen gets "stuck" in the corner making the top bar and navigation inaccessible and virtually unusable. Help! I have updates the program, computer and restarted countless times. Any advice?!

First try resetting your preferences file. As you can't start the Editor you'll need to do this by double-clciking the executable file (in W7 64-bit at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe) then quickly pressing and holding Alt+Ctrl+Shift until you see the following, to which you want to answer yes. If you can't get to that you can try holding down Alt+Ctrl+Shift before double-clicking the executable but occasionally all that does is bring up the file properties box. Keep trying and eventually you'll get it.
If resetting preferences doesn't fix the problem then there are several ways to try and open the Editor:
via the Initial 'front screen' where you choose between Organizer and Editor.
via the Organizer Tools Panel 'Editor Button'.
by right-clicking an image in the Organizer and selecting Edit with Photoshop Elements Editor.
by selecting an image in Organizer and selecting Edit> Edit with Photoshop Elements Editor.
by selecting an image in Windows Explorer and selecting Open With> Photoshop Elements 12 Editor.
    by double-clicking the PSE12 executable (in W7 64-bit at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe).
by right-clicking the PSE12 executable (in W7 64-bit at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe) and selecting 'Run As Administrator'.
Have you tried all these methods?
If so, do they all fail identically or are there any differences in the behaviour?
    Are there any error messages?
Did it ever work after the 8.1 upgrade?

  • Elements 4 Compatibility issue with Vista

Everything was fine 'till my old faithful pc, and Windows XP, went belly up. Now the new pc, with Vista won't allow the complete Elements program to operate. I'm told, "This program has known compatibility issues". If the issues are known, can someone please tell me how to resolve the issue. I can't seem to find any answer. I'm operating on a Hewlett Packard - HPw1707, and have an HP Photosmart C6270 all-in-one printer. 465 GB capacity. I'd really like to be able to work with Elements 4 and hope for help. Thanks

    What exactly the problem is?
Is this printer not accessible through PSE4 or what?

  • Premiere Elements Video Import Issue

I am having issues importing a .mp4 video file.
Working on Windows 7 64 bit laptop.
File is 6GB on lexar usb removable device plugged into usb 2.0.
Add media from device, get no valid data
Add from folder, navigate and select folder, tells me to import to Organizer, but organizer won't detect file.
    Assistance please and thanks.

Unfortunately the Dazzle is one of those low-end capture units that are pretty much made to work with the video editor that comes with them. Even converting the video won't make it more compatible with Premiere Elements.
As I explain in my books as well as in the FAQs to the right of this forum, the best devices for capturing video for editing your PC are called DV bridges. The best value is the ADS Pyro AV Link, available for about $100 online.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431853?tstart=0
The video it captures load right into Premiere Elements and edit beautifully!

  • Abobe Premiere Elements 12 Rendering Issue

After clicking "Render" button, the program runs about a few seconds and stop. Meanwhile, a error message pops up, asking to copy and paste the provided serial number on the given adobe website to get decode. When you do it, the website shows another error message which says something like that the website dose not support any adobe premiere elements below the version 8. This doesn't make any sense at all! We need the answers to this issue, please.

    premiere elements 12
Assuming Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now....
On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to the 12.1 Update yet? If not, please do so from an opened new project's Help Menu/Update. Is your computer connected to the Internet?
In some cases, I have seen where Premiere Elements will need to do a one time activation of a feature. Rendering may be the feature in your case.
There have been several reports from users of Premiere Elements 8 and earlier about messages for MPEG2 activation that cannot be done because Adobe no longer supports MPEG2 Activation for Premiere Elements 8 and earlier. But, you have version 12.
    What I would suggest is
    1. Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way
    2. Do a free ccleaner run through
    CCleaner - Download
    3. Reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled....be sure of the integrity of your Internet connection.
You could try before the above the deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
Please review and consider and then we will plan further troubleshooting strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

Elements Organizer 13 - to be tested tomorrow.
Elements Organizer 12 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 12 player.
Elements Organizer 11 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 11 player.
Elements Organizer 10 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 10 player.
And, no problems were found with the playback of video and audio if this file was just imported (Add Media/Files and Folders) into the Premiere Elements Editor of these versions.
It was another story for this file and Elements Organizer on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Elements Organizer 13 - to be tested tomorrow.
Elements Organizer 12, 11, and 10...no play back of video and audio - message was system does not have installed compressor/decompressor (codec)
    a. renaming of container unsuccessful - .m2ts replaced with .mp4 or .mov or .mpeg.
    b. conversion to H.264.mp4 with HandBrake was partially successful
Elements Organizer 12 player played back video and audio for H. 264.mp4
Elements Organizer 11 player played back video and audio but with issues for H.264.mp4
Elements Organizer 10 player played back video and audio but with issues for H.264.mp4
However, when these seemingly flawed H.264.mp4 were sent from the Elements Organizer to Premiere Elements Editor, they played back from the
Timeline in the Edit mode monitor without any problems.
And, no problems were found with the playback of video and audio if this file was just imported (Add Media/Files and Folders) into the Premiere Elements Editor of these versions.
More tomorrow, targeting Elements Organizer 13. Comments to follow wrap up.
