Portlet minimization from .portal file

i'm using 8.1 sp2.
I have a portlet that I would like minimized always. I can open up the portlet and designate it as such through the default minimized=true and it works.
however, when i try to accomplish the same feat through the portal file, it doesn't work. i check the xml in the portal file and indeed it does designate that instance of the portal as minimized. however, it doesn't do it upon rendering.
in this scenario, i need to do it through the portal if possible because that same portlet appears on several portals. and only on one portal do i want that portlet not to appear.
outside of some programmatic logic statement, what should I be looking at?
Thanks,
-Andy

i just tried this in sp4 and it worked fine.
I think i recall a bug about this a while back that was fixed in one of the service packs

  • Handle Portlet event from portal.

    Hi all,
    I wander that we can handle a event is issued by portlet in the portal?
    Example: when I click a command-Link on the portlet, then portal can catch some info of this action I did in the portlet.
    Do you have any idea about it?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi again.
    I'm busy at the moment but you have to follow this steps:
    As Producer side (your Portlet):
    - Click on your ADF Component (CommandLink or CommandButton) that you want to generate an event.
    - In Properties Inspector you'll see "Contextual Events" pane. Select in "+" and add new Event.
    As Consumer side (your portal page):
    - Generate a class called EventCosumer or something similar to handle events.
    - Create a method to handle your event: For example
       * Metodo manejador del boton pulsado
       * @param customPayLoad El texto del boton pulsado
      public void handleButtonEvent(DCBindingContainerValueChangeEvent or String customPayLoad) { // It depends of the payload of you want to share
        // Take that you want of value passed
      }- Generate a DataControl from your EventConsumer Java (Right click -> Generate Data Control).
    - Create a methodAction binding in your pageDef.
    - In your pageDef in Contextual Events tabs, subscribe your pageDef to the event generated by EventConsumer.
    This is basically the steps to do all programmatically. Remember that you can subscribe and consume payLoad values in Runtime too :).
    Regards.

  • Portlet Information from Portal

    Hello,
       I'm developing a non-SAP portlet that will be consumed by the portal and was wondering what information, if any, the portlet will have access to from SAP.  Basically I am wanting to know if I will be able to get any information about the user that logged into the portal.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    Simon,
       I've been looking into how to extract the user id from the SSO Ticket.  I found where I need the SAPSSOEXT stuff, but this seems to be just a patch to the SAP system.  My application will be on an external java server and thus will not have access to the libraries that this patch contains.  Do you know of a way for me to get the necessary libraries, such as in a .jar, so that they can be accessed on the external server?  Or can the SSO Ticket only be accessed by an application on the same server?
    Thank you for your assistance.
    Brandon

  • Portlet disappeared from Portal Builder after editing

    I created a Master-Detail form in portal builder. At the end of one edit, I clicked cancel to undo the change. Somehow, the portlet was totally disappeared. I checked the repository table WWA_FORM$ and WWA_MODULES$, this form is still there, but it just does not show up in the portal builder navigator page. Can anybody help me to explain this abnormal behavior and how to get the form back to the builder?
    Thank you for your help.

    I did more research and found out that the form module that was missing is not in the table WWV_modules$. I am wondering why Oracle portal created such an inconsistancy. The module is still in wwa_modules$ table, but not in wwv_modules$ table. How did the record get deleted from wwv_modules$ table, but not wwa_modules$? I am the only user of this thing and I never delete this module. All I am doing is editing. Anybody has any ideas?

  • How can i download file from a pageflow portlet in Webloigc Portal?

    How can i download file from a portlet in Webloigc Portal?
    My Question is, when i download files used codes in a pageflow listed below,
    it didn't work. but in non-portal environments, it worked well.
    How can I download a file from a portlets in portal??
    Thx in advanced.
    this.getResponse().setContentType ( "application/ms-excel" ) ;
    this.getResponse().setHeader ( "Content-Disposition" ,"attachment;filename="
    +new String("Excel.xls".getBytes(),"iso-8859-1")) ;
    sth.write(this.getResponse().getOutputStream());

    i always use an old fashioned method when i have to do this, i create a new jsp that contains a scriptlet that writes to the ServletOutputStream.
    <i>outputWriter.jsp</i>
    // define your own class to get file here, otherwiser use netui-data:callControl tag
    <code><pre>
    File file = FileControl.getFile(fileName);
    String fileName = (String) request.getParameter("fileName");
    response.setContentType(file.getContentType());
    ServletOutputStream sos = response.getOutputStream();
    InputStream is = file.getInputStream();
    for(int i = 0; (i = is.read()) != -1;)
    sos.write(i);
    sos.close();
    </pre>
    </code>
    i then call this jsp from the jsp to which i forward in my action using a simple url rewrite with file name on the url.
    <a href=outputWriter.jsp?fileName=nameOfFileToDownload

  • How to view file from portal?

    Hello All,
    The application i'm developing requires viewing documents linked to a SAP object from portal. I am able to checkin documents from portal ( using  'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2' ), but I have problem display/ viewing the document.
    EX: When a PO is displayed in portal, I should be able to view the documents attached to it if I click on the document number (created thru 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2).
    Any kind of help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    Hi Chandra,
    in case the DMS BAPIs are not sufficient for you, maybe the KM - DMS connector could help you here? In note 904558 and in the SDN at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/e08533ae-8f6d-2910-ba9f-e9a6a363ec35 [original link is broken] you see more. In general the DMS content is here mapped to the portal KM.

  • Create a new portlet  in Deployed Portal in production environment

    are there any ways to import or create a new portlet in Deployed Portal in production environment?
    Edited by: user8322798 on May 1, 2011 7:26 AM

    This can done via WSRP proxy portlets and streaming desktops. First, you'll need to have a WSRP producer setup somewhere. This could be another WLP webapp with portlets, or another server altogether. Or, you can use the JSR 286 WSRP import tool from within the Portal Administration Console (I think it's under Services | WSRP | Import Tool) -- this will allow you upload .war(s) of JSR 168 or 286 portlets, which will be turned into WSRP producer(s).
    Then, you can use the Portal Administration Console to register a WSRP Producer, and then add portlets from the producer to your desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14235/chap_fed_books_pages.htm#FPGWP690). Additionally, once the producer has been registered in Portal Adminstration Console, an adminstrator user can use the Dynamic Visitor Tools from within the streaming desktop itself to add wsrp proxy portlets to the desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14243/dvt.htm#PDGWP691).
    It is not possible to add new local .portlet files to a deployed application in production mode. This requires adding the file artifacts to the .ear/.war and redeploy the application.

  • Announcing: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:

    Hi Peter!
    First, I wish to thank you for the great work.
    We followed your whitepaper and managed to deploy a JSF portlet on WLS.
    But we are not able to register it (consume it) as remote portlet in Oracle Portal 10.1.4. The error log is as follows:

  • Deploying ADF/JDeveloper portlets in WebSphere Portal

    I'd like to use ADF/JDeveloper to build my application, but my customer is already heavily invested on a WebSphere Portal deployment platform.  The JDeveloper/ADF documentation has extensive information on creating portlets in various ways, but they all seem focused exclusively on deploying in an Oracle platform.  I have tried both the "Standards-Based" as well as the "JSF Portlet Bridge".  I have tried to deploy the portlets in WebSphere Portal using both the generated WAR file, as well as by registering the WSRP producer.  None work.
    With the WAR file, WebSphere Portal seems to import the WAR file just fine, and I can add a portlet to a page, but the portlet always shows as "unavaiable"
    With the WSRP producer, I can get something to show in the page, but the functionality within the portlet doesn't seem to work.
    I've searched extensively, but cannot locate any documentation or use cases for deploying portlets from JDeveloper into WebSphere Portal.  Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Dvohra21, again, I apreciate the effort, but I think you're missing the fundamental question.
    You've given me two types of articles/links.  Some are generic WebSphere Portal documentation about deploying a portlet from a WAR file.  Others are Oracle articles about who to generate portlets in JDeveloper, with examples deploying in Oracle/WebLogic servers.   Unfortunately I don't have a problem with either of those.
    I CAN deploy a portlet WAR file in WebSphere Portal, and sucessfully add it to a Portal page.  I have done that with multiple WAR files generated from Rational Application Developer.
    I CAN produce a WAR file from JDeveloper, following the instructions in the same resources you included, plus a few others.
    The problem is, the WAR file from JDeveloper, does not successfully run on WebSphere Portal.  I create a simple Hello World portlet in JDeveloper, and I can generate a WAR file from it, and seemingly deploy to WebSphere Portal.   However when I add it to a Portal page, it always displays only a blank box with the text "This portlet is unavailable".  This is in the same exact portal page, where the portlet created with Rational Application Developer shows up just fine right along side it.
    Bottomline is, although there is a great deal of information an demos about generating portlets from JDeveloper within an Oracle environment, I could not find a SINGLE ONE, that goes through an end to end scenario where it is deployed in WebSphere Portal.  Nothing in this forum, nothing in Oracle docs, and nothing I can find on a Google search.

  • PDF Reports from Portal

    My goal: PDF report for print-out, launched from Portal, that displays text and image (.jpeg, .gif, .bmp, etc.) data pulled from the database. Currently, users retrieve this data right from the portal via JSP portlets. This works great. We'd like to get a good-looking report containing this data for inclusion in electronic documents and hard copy files and PDF seems a good way to go. Right now, my idea is to create the report from SQL query in Report Builder creading a .rdf file and somehow launch this from the Portal allowing users to pass selection parameters.
    Questions:
    1. What's best way to launch a .rdf report (PDF output) from Portal?
    2. What are the tricks of pulling in and displaying blob data (from Portal30 schema) in a .rdf report with PDF output?
    Thanks!

    Take a look at the Portal - Reports integration documentation. It will tell you how to deploy Oracle Reports on the Portal.
    As far as displaying images, Report Builder Online Help -> search on word image ->selecting image from the database.
