Portlet to Portlet Problem : listening portlet not updating

Having trouble with an Adaptive Portlet. I have a broadcaster that when selecting a link in a data grid will pass and ID to the Listening portlet and display info based on that passed ID. (nothing hard). This code works fine in our development environment but will not refresh the listing portlet in our production environment. I have displayed the form filed in the listing portlet that receives the ID from the broadcasting portlet and it is passing a value. but again the listening portlet will not display any other information. I have also put code into the listing portlet so as not to cache the portlet. Our dev environment is runningPlumtree portal server (5.0.2) and is also the portlet server. I figured out the issue. Portlet B only listens for the event if it is visible. The event gets fired when portlet A is maximized, so portlet B is no longer visible.

Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Listener is not updated

Hello,
I have a problem with listener. It looks like it is not updated by PMON. I have application server with jdbc pool connected to Oracle database. After restarting the application server the number of established connection is always growing till the listener state is going to status blocked. The netstat command shows expected number of connection as well as results from v$session view. For instance
select count(*) from v$session shows 176
but lsnrctl services shows
Service "xxxx.xxx.local" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "xxxx", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
Handler(s):
"DEDICATED" established:444 refused:0 state:ready
LOCAL SERVER
What can I do to solve this problem?

Looks like the problem with the application server connection pool configuration and the connections established to the database are not exiting properly.
The number of connections to the database keep growing as no session is exiting.
You might be observing more INACTIVE sessions that are still connected to the database. Check your application server configuration and documentation related to application server to end the session once it is completed the transaction.
check below for a count of active and inactive sessions

Problem : controls & indicators not updated when programatically open Front Panel

Hi,
I have a strange problem when I want to progamatically open the front panel of a sub-vi: for some sub-vis the controls and indicatores are correctly updated while for others they are not (ie the controls show outdated values).
I have created an example here that illustrate this. The 2 sub-vis are *exactly* the same, but only one shows updated controls when I open it (with the sub-vi previously closed of course).
How is that possible?
What do I have to do to have the controls updated to the last value of the *last call* when I open the sub-vi?

Well, I DID run your VI and everything worked just fine, however I no longer have LabVIEW 7.1 so maybe your observation no longer applies to newer versions. It could also be because they were just upgraded as Ben noted. I did not study it in detail.
And Yes, as Ben noted, invisible VIs don't get updated for performance reasons (and not to waste extra data copies for the controls and indicators). LabVIEW is typically smart enought to update when needed, e.g. if the subVI tries to print its panel, etc.
I guess you haven't been in this forum for too long, but since controls can easily be operated in edit mode is is absolutely important to mention at which step you run the VI. (try to operate your controls with the computer turned off and you will see that it is not that easy ). Also if you have been programming for any length of time, you should know that stupid mistakes happen all the time (at least to me and Ben ). It is much easier to weed out the stupid mistakes with a quick question&answer than to spend hours searching for a deep and complex solution.

Problems with iOS6 not updating correctly

I recentely upgraded my iPhone 4 with iOS6. However several of the features seem to not have been installed/upgraded, such as Facebook which still has version 3.3.3 Is there something that I need to do in order to 'unlock' all the features?
Some changes (minor) have taken effect, but several other features are still missing.
I've tried uninstalling/installing Facebook but it always comes up with the same version 3.3.3
Any ideas on what I should do?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic test. Podcast not updating from RSS into iTunes

Hi,
I am having a problem with iTunes not updating the most recent iteration of the XML file.

Episodes 1-7 appear in iTunes, but any newer podcasts are not being picked up. It has been over a week since updating the XML and iTunes has yet to update.

Your episode of Mach 10th appear when subscribing, and the feed appears to be OK. Actually I'm surprised your episodes work as they have URLs beginning with https rather than http - this used to guarantee that it wouldn't work in the Store but perhaps they've changed that. I can't see any other problem, so it may just be that the Store is having a sticky patch - this does happen occasionally, and if this is the case there isn't really anything you can do about it except wait it out.

Problem with Lotus Notes portlet

Hi all, i have another problem with the latest Lotus Notes portlet (version 9.0.4.0.0_05062003). I have installed and configured the portlet and the domino server to be used with the Basic Authentication. I followed all the steps in the installation document and everything seems OK. However when i include these portlets in a page, some links (not all) doesn't work, in example: the new contact link. Any of these links opens a new browser window. This window displays that i have successfully configured Lotus Notes External Application, but i can't do anything to perform the action, as to add the new contact. Does anybody have the same problem?, it's a bug? or i have committed an error?
Finally, if i configure the portlet and the domino server to be used with session based Authentication i have the same problem that Remy Vanderplaetsen has posted.
Any help will be very appreciated.

I guess this problem is again with the same portal issue. You need to apply the patch as mentioned in the FAQ.html document for LotusNotes. Please refer this document on how to get and apply the portal patches so that it could work.

Update portlet.xml(for JSR 168 portlets) at runtime

Is there a way to update the portlet.xml dynamically? That is, add an instance of the portlet using <portlet> tag at runtime to the portlet.xml. Does the portlet container need to be bounced back so that the updates are picked up?
Got to know that that this is very much a portal-dependent functionality. Does Oracle Portal support this functionality?

I am not sure that you will be able to add portlets dynamically .. since, even if you do, you will still need to refresh the provider on the portal.

Struts portlet Instance Label problem: Appending the html tags in jsp

I have created a struts portlet and given it a Instance Label. I have used struts-adapter-html.tld tld in my jsp which is referenced by my struts portlet. But the problem with using this taglib is that the portlet Instance Label is appended to all the html tags on the JSP as a result of which when the page is submitted, formbean will not pick any of the values as the name will not match. Has anyone has faced this kind of problem? How can I prevent the appending of the HTML tags with the portlet Instance Label?

1. To begin with, I would not recommend NOT to append portlet instance label to html tags. This is very much required. Take atleast 2 scenarios. If you dropped 2 instances for Same Portlet like News/Articles portlet etc on same page, you need to identify the html fields uniquely for each portlet so that backend java code works properly. Also if you have 2 different portlets assuming you did not give any name to form tag, and if you have html tags with same name, you need to identify them. Remember when portal or desktop is rendered, it is one big html file with html fragmetns from all .portlets files. So I am not sure if there is any option at all, to avoid the appending of instance label value to html tags.
2. Coming to your usecase, I did had this problem once in 8.1 SPxx long back. All we did was, in the back end code, using BackingFile we could get the intance label value of the portlet. We can get this in pageflow also. Then pass this value and manually append this value to the html field of interest. In your case looks like you have Struts and tld tags. See somehow if you can get portlet instance label in jsp file and pass around to your tag lib code in request parameters etc. This is just one idea. I am not fully aware of your code, so try something along these lines.

Request Scope for portlets? Sharing data tutorial does not work for portlet

I created 2 identical applications, one that was a regular JSF web app, and one a JSR168 portlet. By following the "Sharing Data Between Two Pages" tutorial, I can get this technique to work without a problem in the web app, but the portlet (deployed locally using the pluto server) does not work. What is the difference between a regular app and a portlet app?
This shows that portlets apparently handle scope much differently than other applications, so any information relating to this would be helpful to pass along.

Portlet Life Cycle Differences
A portlet page is the same as a web application page in the Creator 2 application
model with differences only in the page life cycle. To best understand the life
cycle differences, you must first understand how a portal interacts with a portlet.
This interaction between portals and portlets is defined by the JSR-168 Portlet
specification. Typically a portal display in the web browser shows multiple
portlets. That is, when the portal page is displayed, there are actually multiple
portlets displaying or rendering their content. The job of the portal is to manage
how these portlets are displayed. Internally, the portal is responsible for telling
each portlet two things:
1. When to display itself
2. If there has been an action, such as a button press, performed inside that
portlet.
When a portal wants portlets to display their contents, the portal sends a render
request to each portlet showing in the portal. If one of the portlets showing in the
portal has a button tied to an action request, when that button is pushed, the
portal fires an action request for that portlet. In addition, the portal generates a
render request for the portlet and all other portlets on the page. You should note
that the portal implementation fires both action and render requests for each
action method on a portlet showing in the portal. The implication of this
interaction means the portlet page being rendered can not make assumptions
about the state of the values to be shown. Unlike a normal web application page,
a portlet page can't assume that the page being rendered in the Render Response
phase is the same page that was built in Restore View. If a portlet wants to
maintain state across repeated render requests, the portlet must use the session
bean to store stateful information.
The main point to remember is a portlet page must always be prepared to render
it's values from scratch or session data. This implies you should never bind
portlet page UI components to page bean properties or request bean properties.
Also, you should never rely on page bean instance variables that might be set
during an action event.

Problem consuming portlet of an ADF application into webcenter application

I have created a simple ADF application with one JSF page having a document list task flow displaying some documents from UCM. I created a portlet out of it by Create Portlet Entry and deployed it onto integrated weblogic. Then i created a webcenter Application in which i created a single JSF page and dragged that registered portlet on to it.
Problem is that Portlet runs fine standalone
It also Gives the correct WSDL
It was registered successfully
But when i consumed that into my webcenter application, It given me Portlet Unavailable.

Even I am trying to achieve something similar and get the same error.
I created a simple JSR 286 portlet with view.jspx and edit.jspx in Portlet Producer Application. And trying to consume that portlet in WebCenter Portal Application using WSRP.
The producer application gets deployed without any errors and I am able to register that application in WebCenter portal application using WSRP.
I used the content presenter taskflow in Producer Application to grab a html from UCM. Consumed that (drag & drop) remote portlet in home.jspx of the Webcenter Portal Application.
When I run the WebCenter Portal, I get this error on console and in browser:

Problem with portlets with XSLT generating dynamic portal compatible links

We're using XSLT to transform XML data to HTML in a portlet. The problem is that
the XML contains headlines and we need to create links to the complete article,
which has to be displayed in the same portlet. How do I create a portal comaptible
link with XSLT? In the JSP you can use the netui tag library like:
<netui:anchor action="..">
link
<netui:parameter name="id" value="{id}"/>
</netui:anchor>
but how can I achieve this with XSLT? We tried generating the xsl with a jsp,
but this doesn't work since the data entered in the value attribute of the netui:parameter
tag will be encoded causing the XSL transformer to fail.
Is there an easy solution to this? Or can XSLT only be used with very simple content?

When displaying the articles we use XSLT like (this is a JSP generating XSLT):
