Portlets not showing

Hi all,
Sometimes when I open a page it doesn't show one or more portlets. After doing a refresh F5 it does show them and sometimes it even doesn't show others.
We are running Oracle Portal Version: 3.0.8.9.8 on W2000 and I am working on NT 4.0 with IE 5.50, my colleague is working on W2000 with IE 5.00
Did anybody else see this behaviour, what is the solution?
TIA,
Eric

when they don't show, look at the source of the page. The error is often hidden in comment tags within the html. otherwise, try looking at your jserv.log (presuming that you are writing java portlets).

  • ADF Portlets not showing up

    Hello ,
I am using Oracle AS 10.1.2 , Oracle Portal 10.1.4 , JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 installed on a Linux box.
I have also downloaded and run the ADF Runtime Installer JAR file in the box.
But, when I try to deploy an ADF screen as a JSR 168 portlet it is not showing up as a portlet and is throwing an "500 Internal Server Error". Any ideas ! !
Although , when I try to run the same portlet in my JDeveloper Webcenter pre-configured OC4J it works fine.
Please let me know if anyone has found a solution to the above problem.
    Best Regards.

If its a caching issue, which caches did you try to flush?
Or can you create a JSP , deploy it to the app servers with the following code
    <%@ page import="com.bea.p13n.cache.* "%>
    <%@ page import="java.util.* "%>
    <%
    String[] cachenames = CacheFactory.getCacheNames();
    for (int i = 0; i<cachenames.length; i++)
    String curCacheName = cachenames;
    CacheFactory.flush(curCacheName);
    %>
and access this JSP and see if it solves your problem
If it doesnt solve your problem, do you have personalized desktops for each user or something?
    regards

  • PL/SQL portlet not showing up in portlet respository for existing provider

I hope you can spare a minute to help. I've created a new PL/SQL portlet and added it to an existing provider package. I've refreshed the portlet repository and refreshed the provider, but the new portlet still doesn't show up. The other portlets in the provider show up fine. Could web cache be the culprit? I'm using Portal R2 9.0.2.6 and PDK July 2003.
    Thank you,
    Kendra

    Thanks!
I did what you suggested, and the page came back:

  • Portlet not showing up in 'Add Portlets to Region' page

This relates to Portal 9.0.2 (the new version that shipped with iAS 9.0.2).
I created a provider based on a Report, specifying the SQL query to be used, and thus created a portlet which produces a report from the query. It works and I have added it to a region in a page. So far, so good.
Then I created a second provider with a very nearly identical SQL query, set virtually everything to be the same as the attributes for the first portlet. I wish to add it to another region in the same page. However, when I try to do the edit for the page, to add the second portlet, it doesn't show up in the list of portlets in the 'Add Portlets to Region' page, so I can't add it.
Both portlets show up in the Providers list. They both say 'Report from SQL Query' under Type, and both say that their owner is EXAMPLE_APP. However, when I navigate to that owner in the 'Add Portlets to Region' page, only the first portlet shows up. The other one doesn't.
Any ideas as to why this might occur? What do I look for? I've tried to look for any differences between the two portlets, and haven't seen anything obvious.
    Help!
    Responses much appreciated!

  • New portlets not showing up in portlet repository

I have created a couple URL based portlets and registered the provider with my portal. When I go to the portlet repository to add the new portlets to a page, they do not show up. If I go the Providers Tab on the Portal Navigator Page, I can see them.
I suspect this has something to do with my coworker trying to get the Web Cache working though he can't tell me why my portlets aren't showing up.
    Any one have any ideas?

Web Cache shouldn't impact this (but I'm not saying that it isn't ;-)
    Try the following:
    1) refresh the portlet repository by clicking the "refresh" button in the provider registration page
    2) check the security settings on the portlets - portlets will not be displayed if either the portal security (applied via the portlet repository) or portlet security (applied by adding a SecurityManager to a portlet) denies access

  • Content management portlet not showing images

    Hi all,
sorry for asking a question maybe already answered, but I couldn't find a solution in the newsgroups.
I'm trying to use the content management portlet provided with Bea WLP 8.1 SP4, but I've a problem with the images (they're not displayed at all, only a lot of red "X"s).
I followed the instructions in the help of workshop, so I think I've imported every needed files. Moreover, the images are in the right folder tree.
Any help for a completely newbie???
    Thx in advance,
    Mirko.

    Hi Mirko,
I was having that same problem, and I couldn't find anything on this website either. I tried creating a new portal project and following the directions exactly again, but it didn't work there either. It works in the sample portal.
So I contacted BEA Support, and they were able to provide me with a solution:
The file url-template-config.xml (in the WEB-INF directory) has to be modified and have the {url:currentPage} parameter removed in order to get the images working for the content management portlet. For now, do this only in the section . Leave the other places like in WSRP etc as it is.
I actually took it out of the WSRP places too, by accident, but I don't use WSRP anyway, and everything else seems to be working fine. And the images show up!
Hope this works for you too,
    Beth

but at last i am not able to visible 'tiny map' ,i tried calendar and mario also but same result
    i am using JDEV11.1.1.4
    if any one have idea
    Thanks in advance

This solution works for us. As orcladmin, use the navigator to go to the page groups. One of the page groups is called "Portlet Repository". Click on the link properties, tab page Access. There you can add Public to the users with View privileges. Good luck, Marko.

  • Portlet repository-- Seeded providers does not show Portal Content area

    Hi,
When I login to portal as admin user go to administration --> Display portlet repository--> Seeded providers does not show Portal Content area.I tried to search but no results shown.
Any idea as to how to get it back ?
    Thanks and regards.
    Neeti.

    1. From the Portal Object Navigator, click on the Applications
    tab.
    2. In the "Find" box, type %search% and click "Go"
    3. There are 2 reports you need to modify, depending on which
portlet provider you want to use: RPT_SEARCH (owned by
    people_app) and SEARCH_RESULT (owned by wwv_system)
    4. For each report, click the "Edit" link
    5. Click the "Display Options" tab
    6. Under the "Full Page Options" heading, change the "Size"
for "Row Text" to 12. (If you are running the reports as
portlets, then you must also change the "Size" for "Row Text"
    under "Portlet Options".)
    7. Click OK
Search results are now visble using either portlet, the Oracle
Portal provider or the PEOPLE_APP provider.
You may also need to change the field settings on the hierarchy
if now when you run the people search you receive SQL errors.
Here is what worked for me (assuming you want to change both
    users components):
    1. On the Application Tab search for %search% and %detail%
components. You don't need to change the WWMON components.
Change the font size on the full page and portlet options
(Display Options Tab)for the heading and text (I use 12 and
11pt). Otherwise the default can only be read with a magnifying
    glass.
    2. The org chart components are slightly different. Search for %
org% and you will find 2 components org_chart and orgchart. Both
of these need to have the column fields changed (Table or View
Column tab) as well as the font size for the Parent, Child,
Grandchild (Display Options Tab). Here are the Table Column
settings (for some reason they are initially blank - yet will
    fail if recompiled without values):
    People_App.Org_chart
    1. key values:
    primary key - empno
    parent key - manager
    start with - empno
    ww_system.orgchart
    1. Primary Key Column WWSEC_PUBLIC_DIRECTORY.ID
    Parent Key Column WWSEC_PUBLIC_DIRECTORY.MANAGER
    Start With Column WWSEC_PUBLIC_DIRECTORY.ID
Hope this helps. The second half of the answer provided by Rich

    Might be caching issue.
    Try this:
Add : &1=2 at the end of URL in the location bar and press enter. If is appears then it is just a caching issue.
    Thanx,

  • Unallocated disk space not showing up in disk management

I have an HP Proliant dl 380 running Windows 2008. My c:\drive was built on a 33 gig raid 1 partition. I am almost out of drive space. I have tried this method before on Windows server 2000 and it worked. However this time it did not. I took one
of the 33 gig drives out and put a 146 gig drive in it's place. I let the mirror rebuild itself. When it was done I put the other 146 gig drive in and let it rebuild. Now I still have the 33 gig partition but when I ran disk management
the unallocated space did not show up so I cannot extend the volume. I tried to rescan the drives and have device manager rescan as well but no go. I talked with hp and they had me update the firmware of the raid card and restart but still nothing.
    Can anyone help?

  • Link to content area - portlet not available

I have a link to a content area in that I open from another application. Occassionally, I get a "portlet not available" message. Is this related to navigating directly to the document repository? It works most of the time.
    So 3 questions:
Is it acceptable to navigate directly to the content area? (My users then log on and store documents)
Am I getting the "portlet not available" message because of navigating to the content area this way?
Is there another reason I'm getting this message?
    Thank you

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • WSRP: images do not show

I have implemented a richt text editor WSRP portlet (webcenter) in Portal by registering as a WSRP provider. Though the portlet is working, images on the buttons do not show. We had this problem before with WSRP portlets, but never solved it (just stopped using them and use a work around). Anyone who has an idea what could be the cause of this?
    Edited:
It seems the links to the images are encoded with EncodeURL functions. After some more investigation, it appears to be a known, but yet unsolved problem with Portal. I guess we have to conclude that Portal is NOT JSR-168 compliant.

Did you check if any of the images have a check-mark in the box to block images in Tools > Page Info > Media?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • JPDK Portlets not seen in repository

    Hi.
I am trying to install Feb JPDK on Sun Solaris. Portal is working fine. I follow all the instructions and set the paths to the right place in unix format, and remove some incidental ^M-s in provider.xml. I also updated the zone.properties and jserv.properties files.
I also succesfully register the provider.
After this, running the testpage works fine, but the applets do not show up in the repository.
When restarting Apache, the Jserv.log file shows that sample/init runs fine.
What is wrong here? Why don't the applets show up?
    Jeroen

    Jeroen,
When you say the applets don't show up? I assume you mean the JSP and Java Class portlets are not showing up.
So, after registering the provider, you can see the Provider Name in the list, but the portlets do not show up under the provider. When trying to add these portlets to a page, do you see the Provider in the Add Portlet screen, but not portlets?
If you can just provider a little more information, that will definitely help.
One thing to try. Make sure that you copied the directories under htdocs within the JPDK to your default JSP directory for Apache.
    By default that would be
    /u01/app/oracle/product/iSuites/Apache/Apache/htdocs/jpdk/
then make sure to update the provider.xml file.

  • Iframe does not show the page

I am wondering why my iframe does not show up, i get 404 in mozilla and nothing in IE.
    <iframe src="mypage.jspf" frameborder="0" height="100%" width="100%">
    </iframe>
mypage.jspf does show up if I use the include file. Thanks

I had the same issue some time back.
Unfortunately i don't have any resolution.
But i can tell you what is causing problem. when you use iframe inside a portlet, 'height=100%' doesn't work. you can specify pixels but not percentage.
This seems to be working fine out side a portlet. I am not sure if this is an issue with WLP or IE
    Hope it helps

Are you using Tab page/ Normal Page.
If tab pages, have you set tab level security?
Are you able to run that particular form from application? (Pls check it has a Valid production version).
Are both forms & reports in the same application?

    Chetan and Johnny,
I have the same problem as Johnny. Chetan, in answer to your questions:
    1. Yes, I am using "Inherit Privilege from Application"
    2. I tried it both on a page and on a tab and checked security, following the directions in "Building Portals, Release 3.0.8" Using "Portal30" login, access "Manage" etc.
    3. Yes, the form runs in Application, but not as a portlet on a portal page. We are using the standard demo configuration, Oracle 8i (enterprise ed.) and Oracle9i Application Server (minimal ed.).
    4. Yes, valid production version.
    5. I tried running reports and forms from same application and from different applications. Still does not show up on portal page.
    6. It occurs for all forms.
    7. Steps: As I indicated, I followed the directions closely in "Building Portals" which builds "Form based on table or view", "Publish to Portal" I even tried the database sequence (see page 4-27) and added that to the form configuration. I'm running it on NT 4.0 (service pack 5). The software was downloaded from the Oracle site.
