Positioning/Sorting in Selection list while Refrencing in VA01

Hi!
When using VA01 with reference, on Selection list I want to find / position cursor on all items with certain material but program positions me only on first.
Is it somehow possible to go on next item with entered material or is it possible to sort items by materials on selection screen?
Regards,
Ante

Hello Godhuli,
Thanks for the reply, actually that sorting option change the sorting order in the result (i.e on the grid which is displayed when query is actually executed).
My question was when i have some selection criteria for some variables in a report and on the first screen a list of all those variables appear where i can select or write down the filter values. there i have the option to click so a new small window popsup which shows me the some possible values of that variable and i select from that (based in =,[],* etc....). I want value in that Pop Up window to be sorted on text and by default those values are sorted on "Keys"[ and even in my query properties-> Display options, i have only selected to show "text" and to sort on that in ascending order] so it seems that those options are not governing what i want to change.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Akshat

• Project Template is not in the selection list while creating the Project

Hello
We have created a template for a project type in cProjects. When i try to create a project by copying the template and choose "Template Type" as 'Project Template' and 'Project Type' then in the field of 'Template' i cannot see the templates which are created for the selected project type.
what could be the reason?
thanks in advance
Ashish K

Hi
1. While creating the template, you should maintain the project type for which this template would be used. I believe you would have done this.
2. The template has to be released. only after this, it can be used as a template to create projects.

• Paragraphs to Selectable List Script (optimized)

As this script may be of interest to some, I'm posting this version.
This appears to be a troublefree script for converting paragraphs of text to a selectable list while:
1) Getting rid of leading AND trailing white space
2) Preserving punctuation
3) It eliminates a problem where getting rid of trailing white space did not work if there was no leading white space to begin with
4) It is based on submissions by Yvan Koenig and Hiroto with modifications by osimp
It does NOT eliminate blank paragraphs
set myT to "PARAGRAPH 1, and ?!% for punctuation
PARAGRAPH 2
PARAGRAPH 3"
(*Add leading and trailing white space to each paragraph if
it doesn't show up in this post*)
set L to every paragraph of myT
repeat with i from 1 to (count L)
set para to item i of L
repeat while (para starts with space) or (para starts with tab)
set para to (rest of every character of para) as text
end repeat
--IMPORTANT: 1) THE TRY/END TRY BLOCK IS NECESSARY IN THE EVENT OF A BLANK LINE *if* 2) THE 'REPEAT WHILE LAST CHARACTER OF PARA IS " "' BLOCK (below) IS USED (to delete trailing white space). ALSO: positioning of the "end repeats" is crucial; if incorrect, the trailing white space block won't work if no paragraph has leading white space (etc.)! The arrangement shown here appears to be correct.
try
repeat while last character of para is " "
set para to characters 1 thru {(count characters of para) - (1)} of para as text
end repeat
end try
set item i of L to para
end repeat
set _ to choose from list L --with empty selection allowed
if _ is false then error number -128
set mySelection to _ as string
return mySelection
2.7G5 AND OTHERS Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It does NOT eliminate blank paragraphs
set item i of L to para
It does NOT eliminate blank paragraphs, because you maintaining the structure of L.
If you want to get rid of blank line, you need to reconstruct L by changing the script a bit:
set myT to " PARAGRAPH 1, and ?!% for punctuation
PARAGRAPH 2
PARAGRAPH 3 "
(*Add leading and trailing white space to each paragraph if

set L to {}
repeat with para in every paragraph of myT
repeat while (para starts with space) or (para starts with tab)

Can you please help me?
Thanks,

Hi Senthilkumar,
I really appreciate for your kind Hint of SEL ID.
I created and assigned new 'Sel Priority' to the SEL ID same as for Routing.
Now while converting Planned order to Production order system is asking for Reference operation set as there is no such need of Routing as I already mentioned in previous post.

• How to position a select list in the create region

Hello,
I would like to position a select list item in the create region, I think we can do that somehow using javascript but I don't have an idea how to make it.
Thanks in advance!

In this example you can see how to position the elements:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=31517:242
You don't need javascript for that. The element attributes are enough for that.

• Bug while saving multi select list

Hi,
My requirement is to construct a region where user can select their answer from available option. answer field can be multiple select/single select or text area.
I have written below query to achieve different type of answer field.
/**query****/
DECLARE
v_sql VARCHAR2 (32767);
v_answer VARCHAR2 (32767);
v_main_sql VARCHAR2 (32767);
BEGIN
FOR cur IN (SELECT question_id, question, answer_type, available_answer FROM question WHERE status= 'ACTV')
LOOP
v_sql := 'SELECT ';
v_sql := v_sql || ' APEX_ITEM.hidden(4,question_id)||question question, '; /*do not show question id as per requirement*/
IF cur.answer_type = 'MS' -- Multi Select List
THEN
v_answer := cur.available_answer;
v_sql :=
v_sql
|| ' APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(3,null,''SELECT * from table(
AU_F_LOV_FN('''''
|| v_answer
|| '''''))'',''class="multiselect" multiple="multiple"'',''NO'') Answer ';
ELSIF cur.answer_type = 'SS'
THEN -- Single Select List
v_answer := cur.available_answer;
v_sql :=

|| ' APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(3,null,''SELECT * from table(
AU_F_LOV_FN('''''
|| v_answer
|| '''''))'') Answer ';
ELSE -- Free text
v_sql := v_sql || ' apex_item.textarea(3,available_answer,2,20) Answer ';
END IF;
v_sql := v_sql || ' from question ';
v_sql := v_sql || ' where question_id=' || cur.question_id;
IF v_main_sql IS NULL THEN
v_main_sql := v_sql;
ELSE
v_main_sql := v_main_sql ||' UNION ' || v_sql;
END IF;
END LOOP;
RETURN v_main_sql;
END;
/***end of query***/
If I select two options from multiple select list it is saving two records into table instead of saving one record with colon delimeter.
/**query to save**/
FOR i IN 1 .. APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03.COUNT
LOOP
IF APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03(i) IS NOT NULL THEN
UPDATE question_answer

p_sourceid,
'ACTV',
p_customer_id);
END if;
END IF;
END LOOP;
/**End**/
Can anyone please help me? Why is it happening? How to tweak my query so that it saves one record with colon delimeter.

Technically, my understanding is that a Shuttle is just two multiselect lists where javascript moves the items from one to the other. Technically its the same thing, just different presentation and methods for selection. When you go to process, its seen the same way as you initially had your code setup so no code changes would have been necessary. As it's a built in item type and with APEX's backwards compatibility policies, if your code works now it should continue to work.

• Position of select list on report

Sometime when I add a select list to a report region, it will appear at the top of the report. However, when I do it to another report, it appears at the bottom.
Anyone have any ideas about this strange behavior?
By the way, I did change the sequence of the drop down to before the report sequence, but it didn't have any effect.

I would take a look at the Region that you selected the item be placed in. There are all different choices of where to display a region item if you look. There are two choices. One of the choices is to display an item in the region and the other is to display an item among this regions theme or something. I can't remember for sure but you will find your answer in the region definition.

Hi Vivek,
have a look on below comments, it may help you.
This problem will occur if you have application developed in older JDeveloper version (i.e. 9.0.5) deployed on OAS 9.0.x. In older versions there was no syntax check of this type in a data source class. But there is a workaround. Instead of using oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource data source class within ojdbc14.jar you can use oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource within classes12.jar.
Classes12.jar was used in older OAS versions.
All you have to do is to copy classes12.jar to $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib and then in OAS Server Properties screen in java options add:
-Xbootclasspath/p:/$ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/classes12.jar statement.
Rename ojdbc14.jar to ojdbc14.zip, restart the OAS instance. This should work.

Naren.

• Spry select list code to wire it to html data table SET column?

I am making a page based on Figure 15-14, Pg 878, in David Power's book, "Dw CS4 with CSS, Ajax and PHP. I have two separate html data tables hidden in the page, one for the specialties drop down select list and the other for the teachers master/detail regions. These are populated with php and working well. The spry select list and master/detail regions are working great except for one issue. The column in my html data table that is being filtered ("Specialty" in my code = 'Category' in the book's example code) is a SET column (with possible value of 1, 2, 3, 4, and/or 5). Clicking on the drop down menu brings up the records with a single value beautifully. The result for records with multiple values is a spry error "Invalid row number: 0". After four different versionings and methods of messing with this, I still haven't a clue. Please help me with how to rewire the Spry select list code so that it will read the records that have multiple items in that column. I have included the code below.
var data_set_teachers = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "teacher_data");
data_set_teachers.gallery = '1';
function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber)
if (row["Specialty"] == data_set_teachers.gallery) {
return row;
return null;
data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
function changeSet(set)
data_set_teachers.gallery = set;
data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(0);
var rows = data_set_teachers.getData();
for (var i = 0; i < rows.length; i++) {
if (rows[i]["Specialty"] == set) {
data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(i);
break;
var data_set_specialties = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "specialty_data");

Well I'll be damned!
What's done in the sample app is, of course, the intuitively obvious choice and is exactly what I started out trying to do the first time round.
But as I mentioned before, when I first tried it (yes: I'm pretty sure I set the "for" attribute on the inlineMessage components), I got the non-unique component id exception for the inlineMessage component(s) after adding the second (but not the first) row to the page.
Anyway, after dragging my inlineMessages to the exact same position as those in the AppModel example, now things work fine (except I think I'd like a line break before the message and to change the row/column styles so the values and messages line up properly...the look is rather ugly in the AppModel example when there are validation messages displayed).
Not sure, but I'm thinking maybe there was an issue with where the inline message markup was placed, my first time through, relative to the data table value bound component and the column header facet?
I was using the application view drag 'n drop feature the first time round and dragged the inlineMessage component to the spot just below the data table value bound component and hence just above the column header facet. In the AppModel example, OTOH, the inline messages are placed just after the column header facet.
Of course, I will now try to duplicate the original exception.
If I can (and it is an issue with placement), I will post back some sort of bug report or RFE. Otherwise, I'll post back declaring what a bone head I've been...;-)
Anyway, thanks for the quick response, v.

• Tabular form with select list not updating

I have created a tabular form with a dynamic select list
select primary_key, column1,
htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(10,column2, 'select descr d, column_value r from lookup_table where column_value = '||column1) column2
from main_table
The select list appears to work correctly but the new value is not saved to the database. I assume this is because the tabular form element display as field for column2 is set to "standard report column" but when I select any of the "display as text" or "LOV" options either the current data is not displayed or errors are generated.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Ian,
As you have seen, sorting on the project_manager_id column will sort by the id value rather than the textual value. This is, of course, because this is the value in the field.
I haven't tried this out, but one thing that may work is the fact that you don't have to include the ORDER BY fields within the SELECT statement. You could, for example, do:
select p.project_number, p.project_manager_id
from projects p, users u
where p.project_manager_id = u.id (+)
order by u.name
Obviously, you won't be able to do this in the existing statement as you would then be blocked from using column sorting. However, it implies that if you could construct the SQL statement dynamically, appending appropriate ORDER BY strings to the end of the base select statement, you could sort by anything you like. This does, of course, mean that you would have to create a mechanism to allow the user to select the sort order, generate the appropriate string and reconstruct the entire sql statement.
I had had a similar request quite a while ago. The underlying reason for that request turned out to be that the user just wanted to quickly locate records relating to one person. In the end, we agreed that a search filter was the best thing to do.
Regards
Andy

• Sort by selection

Hi experts,
in BEx 3.5 it was possible to sort characteristics ascending or descending dependant to their key or description.
Since BEx 7 it is also possible to sort "by selection".
Unfortunately I'm obviously a bit too dumb to understand that feature - and I didn't find any further documentation about it.
Could you please bring some enlightment to me about that feature?

Mh,
what I'm talking about is:
Start BEx Analyzer (Excel) open a report and open the properties for a characteristic.
Check the entries of the drop-down-field for "sort by". There you'll find the item "selection".
For a characteristic with a presentation-hierarchy enabled this sorting-option seems to make
sense: It allow to sort the hierarchy-entries freely.
But for a normal characteristic (~without an enabled hiearchy) there seems not to be a lot of sense
in this feature. It seems as if one could place exactly one char-value to a free position within the value-list,
but as soon as one tries to move another list-entry, the list is obviously resorted asc/desc first.
And that's some kind curious to me - and the reason why I think that I didn't understand that feature yet.
Kind regards,
and thanks for your reply Karen!
Marco

• How can I double sort my message list? Sort then a sub sort

I would like to sort my messages by date (or some other category), then sort by another category while keeping the first sort. In other words, a sort within a sort. I'm using TB 24.6.0

example:
If you select
View > Sort by > select: 'From' and 'Descending' and 'Group by Sort'
You will get a list of names Z at top and A at bottom, with a sublist of emails sorted with newest at top.
Changing the sort selection from Descending to Ascending will put the names sorted A at top, but the dates per person will be oldest at top.
As I prefer the emails to be in date newset on top, it means I have to select to have the order of 'From' with A at bottom; depends on your preference.
Additional:
If you start by selecting: 'From' and 'Descending' and 'Group by Sort'
then change sort to 'Ascending', you may notice no change until you hover the mouse over the entire list, this is a known bug.
Please feel free to Vote for this bug, you may need to logon / tregister.

• How to customize Category and Category items list while creating New Model

Hi,
what the most convenient way to customize the Category and Category items list while creating New Model?
This is standard:
Now, what we want to achieve, is to customize this menu, to:
1. Display in the Category window only f.e. two categories:
- EA Diagrams
- BPM Diagrams
2. In the EA Diagrams, we want to have f.e. four copies of City Planning diagram, each of them should have different elements available, f.e. in the first copy, only Architecture Areas shall be made available, in the second one Architecture Areas and Business Functions, in the third on f.e. only Business Functions shall be made available. Additionally, it should behave like a hierarchy ... meaning you can create the second diagram, only as child (related diagram) of the first diagram etc.
I know, excluding the particular diagrams/diagram elements can be configured using the right/profile settings, but how to:
1. Customize the standard New Model menu window
2. Create copies of City Planning Diagrams with different set-ups
3. Set the relationship between diagrams
Is such a configuration change possible?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Regards,
Rafal

Now, what we want to achieve, is to customize this menu, to:
Question #1. Display in the Category window only f.e. two categories:
- EA Diagrams
- BPM Diagrams
Click on Tools => General Options=> Model Creation
Click on Properties => at right of Default category set
Note : Model template does not work as Category. We can't set. An enchancement request has been open to SAP
In the following example I defined a new default (MyNewDefault.mcc). As you can see only BPMN models are available.
To create a new category set with BPMN choice
a) Copy default.mcc in MyNewDefault.mcc file.
Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : Select your new category
Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : Edit properties and remove all things you does not want keep
or
b) Go to Tools=>General options=>Model Creation : Edit properties and click on Save as button and specify the file name "MyNewDefault".
Quit the window.
Select you new category : Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : "MyNewDefault"
Edit properties and remove all things you does not want keep.
Save you new category
Question #2. How to define copies/replicas of existing diagrams
Wrote an extension
Question #3. How to make sure, particular diagrams can be used (created) only on predefined "levels" and how to set the parent-child relationship, so that PD enforced it directly when creating a new diagram.
Specify yours conditons in your extension attached to your model
Example : When the user want create a child diagram : You can display a list of Parent Diagrams to select from.
You can set in your extension by VBScript parent-child relationship
Question #4 In the EA Diagrams, we want to have f.e. four copies of City Planning diagram, each of them should have different elements available, f.e. in the first copy, only Architecture Areas shall be made available, in the second one Architecture Areas and Business Functions, in the third on f.e. only Business Functions shall be made available.
If I understand well your question. I suggest to take a look in
Repository=>Administration=>Objects Permission Profile
You can specify objects to show, mask, deactivate at model level.
You can specifiy your own metadata.
But I'm not sure you can mask, deactivate functions following diagram selection. It seem to specific.

• Report with select list and link to call another report

Hi,
I am trying to do 2 reports (REPORT1 and REPORT2).
The first is a summary report (REPORT1).
This report will display sales figures for the year. Now, I need to have a select list in the result set that will have 2 options, depending on which option is chosen, I want to call REPORT2 with the select list as a parameter. How can I do this ?
Let me try to explain what I did.
I created REPORT1 on Page 100
SELECT YEAR, sum(YTD_SALES), APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST(1,'DEPARTMENT','Department;DEPARTMENT,Division;DIVISION') Drilldown FROM SALES_ANALYSIS WHERE YEAR > 2000
GROUP BY YEAR ORDER BY YEAR
I created 2 hidden items namely P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN
I also made the column YEAR as a link and specified both P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN as parameters to be passed.
Next, I created REPORT2
SELECT YEAR, DECODE(:P100_DRILLDOWN, 'Department', department, 'Division', Division) dept_div, sum(YTD_SALES) ytd_sales
FROM SALES_ANALYSIS
WHERE YEAR = :P100_YEAR
When I run Report 1, it's fine, when I choose either Department or Division from the Select List and click on the link to call Report 2, report 2 is displayed, but the value being passed for P100_DRILLDOWN is not correct and as a result, I am unable to get correct results for Report 2
Am I missing something ? Are there any alternate ways to do what I'm doing ?
Thanks,
Ashok

Hi Ashok,
The link definition will not know the value selected in the list as it is constructed only when the page is being rendered. You would need to create some javascript to handle this. I've done that here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=267:182]
The link on the EMPNO column has been defined in the HTML Expression setting for the column instead of the Link section. The HTML Expression that I have used is:
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:doDrilldown('#EMPNO#',this);">#EMPNO#</a>And, in the page's HTML Header setting, I have added in:
<script type="text/javascript">
function doDrilldown(empno,group)
var g;
var p = group.parentNode;
while (p.tagName != "TR")
p = p.parentNode;
var x = p.getElementsByTagName("SELECT");
if (x.length > 0)
g = x[0].value;
var url = "f?p=&APP_ID.:183:&SESSION.::::P183_EMPNO,P183_GROUP:" + empno + "," + g;
document.location.href = url;
</script>When a link is clicked, the doDrilldown function is called passing in the EMPNO value and the "this" object (which identifies the object triggering the call). The function starts from that object and goes up in the HTML tag tree to the nearest TR tag (the row tag that the link is on) and then finds the first SELECT list item on the row and gets its value. It then constructs a URL using this and the EMPNO value and performs a redirect to the second page (page 183 in this example).

• How to default a value in a select list

Hi
I have an item on the page which is displayed as a select list.
The select list has an lov that returns 3 values as follows:
ACAD1M
ACAD2H
ACAD3T
the sql for this lov is as follows:
select CAL_TYPE d,cal_type r
from igs_ca_type
where s_cal_cat='ACADEMIC'
It needs to return the values in the order as shown above, however if the user does not select anything from the select list, I want it to default to the value in the middle of the list(ACAD2H)
I tried using default on the item but I could not get this to work.
Could someone explain how I can get the select list in HTMLDB to default to the value that I want regardless of which position it appears in the select list it always seems to default to the value at the top of the list.

Hello Kay,
A default value for a select list must be set to a legitimate returned value from the select list LOV query.
The default value should be set in the item "Default" section. In the "Default Value" field you should enter your query – in a form of a PL/SQL Function Body – and set the "Default Value Type" field accordingly.
The following is an example of code I'm using to set the default value of a select list to be the first displayed option (set by the user, and recorded in the dispord column):
declare
l_sno number;
begin
select sno
into l_sno
from mis_mess_users
where dispord = (select min(dispord)
from mis_mess_users);
return l_sno;
end;Using the same principle, you can use any query that will give you the result you need.
Regards,
Arie.
