Positive amount of Depreciation

Hi Gurus,
We have an asset that was capitalized on Sept 2008. Useful life of the asset is 3 years and depreciation started last Oct. 1, 2008.
Using the Simulated Depreciation, asset will show that monthly depreciation is at -44 thousand upto September 2011. For Oct 2011, it shows that the asset depreciaton will be at +163 thousand. November 2011onwards shows that depreciation will be at -44 thousand again.
Kindly advise why depreciation for October 2011 is at positive 163,264.58.
Is this a result of the adjustment we made for this June 2011? We have posted additional construction cost amounting to 103,509.04 last June 16, 2011.
Thanks,
Ellicec

Hi Ellicec
SAP does not recommend posting addnl values to the same asset.. It always creates a problem...
Its better you reverse it and post the same to a Sub asset...
Yes, you can change the useful life in the master

  • Only Positive amount in Infotype 0015

    Dear Gurus,
I want users to enter only positive amount for wage types in Additional Payment.....
No negative amount should  be allowed for particular wage types in Additional Payment
Can anyone help me out ?

    Hi,
For this you need to define the minimum amount in the WT characteristics for such WTs. Go to table/view V_T511, select the WT and put the minimum amount value in amount block as 0.01.
This way no one can enter value which is less than 0.01 i.e. negative amount can not be entered.
    Hope this helps.

  • Posting key 50 shows Positive amount

    Dear all,
In the Accounting entry generated for billing documents (doc type RV)
the sales accout with posting key 50 is showing +ve amount ! which
normally should show -ve amount. Due to this he accounting entry looks

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
Can you specify where do you see these signs? The amounts are stored in table for accounting document only with positive signs, with no connection to posting key. The sign is determined by debit/credit field (SHKZG).

  • Different amounts of Depreciation in depreciation run and FS10N, S_ALR_....

    Hi Everyone,
I have just done a depreciation run and the amount to be posted is a certain value. Now, when i go into either transaction FS10N or S_ALR_87012284 and look at the account range where the depreciation is located, i get a different amount. Does anyone have a solution to this?  How can the amounts be different?i
This is really confusing me at the moment so I highly appreciate your coming efforts in solving this issue.
    /P

Compaire the posted valuesfor that month between:
    AFBP - Display Log
When you run the report S_ALR_87012284  use the option current book value
For compairing asset account with fi Use the report ABST2 - Account Reconciliation
Look if the differences is from his month or that it was already there
Search with ABST2 on this forum and you found more possible reasons for differences

  • How to reverse the Depreciation for the excess amount posted?

    Hi Gurus,
We have uploaded the data last month from legacy system to SAP as below.
The Fiscal year is Jan - Dec and gone live on June 28th 2009.
Accumulated Depreciation was taken till Dec 2008.
Ordinary Depreciation was taken from Jan 2009 to June 2009.
But Ordinary depreciation is not up to date in SAP as the user miss out the 2 months depreciation for each Asset but this was already posted in legacy system. All the GL Balances have been uploaded as per the legacy system. Now system is taking the previous 2 months Depreciation along with the current month. If we run the Depreciation for the current month, the system will post excess amount as it includes previous 2 months Depreciation.
Can any one kindly suggest the process to reverse the excess amount after Depreciation posted for the current month?
    Thanks much for the help.
    Early responses will be appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    JBC

    HI
    Few clarifications-
    1. you have posted two months dep in legacy , have you transferred that dep amount wth the ordinary dep transferred from jan to june?
If yes, that means your last posted dep month is june and accordingly you have to set the last period (6) in the SPRO for asset data transfer specifications, so system will start calculating dep from the 7th period only and will not recalculate dep for last two months.Check the last posted period mentioned in SPRO.
2.If you have uploaded wrongly your ordinary dep for current year , then that means your Asset accounting opening balance (migrated balance ) is not matching with your Trial GL upload as well, so you need to correct your asset accounting opening balances.
For this you need to reset your company code status from 0 to blank ( tset data always allowed for asset data transfer). And then correct the values for current year ordinary dep posted from jan to june, also check the last posted dep period as above.
3.However you may post writeup ttype 700 to adjust the excess dep posted by any reason, you can extract last two months dep posted values asset wise from legacy system if already posted, and post the writeups for the same value in current period using LSMW.

  • Asset planned values computed positive value Issue

    Down payments                    SGD
    Scrap value                    SGD

I believe in your case, the tremendous reduction in APC cost has caused a tremendous change in planned depreciation.  System looks at the NBV and the remaining periods of useful life each time it calcs depreciation.  Of course also looks at depreciation key, Period Control, and OAYR Smoothing button.  Asset class can also be set for group depreciation.
If a credit memo reduced the APC value dramatically, then the amount of depreciation on the asset at that moment is more than enough so far.  This means that the next running of the AFAB program will reduce its amount of depreciation from the amount it was planning to book since it already has an excess of accumulated depreciation.
Please check in OAYR to know if your Smoothing indicator has been checked for the Company Code.  As I understand the system, if this indicator is checked - the system will not catch-up the whole difference in the next running of AFAB.  Instead, it will smooth out the adjustments due to credit memos, unplanned depreciation, and changes in remaining useful life over the remaining life of the asset.  When smoothing is set, one gets less drastic period to period change.
This setting should be in line with your accounting rules, such as in US GAAP changes in depreciable life are considered estimate changes requiring only prospective corrections, and so should smooth out impact over remaining periods of useful life versus immediate catch-up.
You may want to run a AFAR (check for recalc flags) and then a Repeat AFAB in the current period after making master data changes for depreciation.  All open periods would be impacted by master data changes if you run AFAB.

  • Which Depreciation Area is used to post values to G/L

    Hi,
I do understand that multiple depreciation area can be created and used in asset master at the same time to meet multiple requirements of the company. Lets say that we have two separate requirements of handling Depreciation of Vehicles. Book depreciation and Tax Depreciation.lets say that the companies policy is to depreciate vehicles @ 10% but tax authority required it to be depreciated @ 15%. Now i can create two different depreciation areas for this and assign two different rates in asset master against each depreciation area. my question is when i execute the depreciation run through AFAB which amount of depreciation will be posted to G/L account? Book depreciation of tax depreciation? if only book depreciation is to be posted to G/L where would i get asset position based in tax depreciation rate and what will be the purpose of creating a separate depreciation area if no posting is going to be made to G/L with its reference. Please help me out here i am completely lost.
    Regards,

    Hi Faizan,
We do maintain all the depreciation area in t-code OADB. Under each depreciation area, we define if depreciation post in Real time or not. If you are using classic GL, you will select this option for Book Dep area only. For Tax dep area, no real posting will be done, however you can view the dep details in asset reports.
If you are using new GL, then refer to below link. This could be useful.

  • Negetive Depreciation to be posted.

    Hi gurus,
I want to post negative depreciation in one of the asset class. The scenario is as under
There is separate block of asset for capitalization of Exchange Rate Difference (ERD). ERD can be positive or negative. so asset may increase or reduce at times.
I have posted depreciation till December in system. due to peculiar nature of the transaction, system cannot give exact amount of depreciation required to be posted so unplanned depreciation is required to be posted. That also I have done.
Now the case is after posting system depreciation and manual depreciation till December, I am supposed to change amount of asset which comes to negative. I have posted values of Asset in the system and gross block is tallied but now the amount of depreciation already posted is higher than the amount I want to post. So I have to reduce the amount of Depreciation.
Now the system didnu2019t allow me to post negative depreciation either through regular system or manual depreciation.
    Please help.
    Regrads

    Hello Sharmistha,
You can post -ve dep too. For this you need to make a small configuration, Goto T-Code OABN or Path (Financial Accounting->Asset Accounting->Depreciation->Ordinary Depreication->Determine Depreciation Areas)
    - Here you will be presented with different Dep Areas assigned to your chart of deprecation. Double click the relevant depreciation area, Rules for posting/-ve dep, here Opt for "All values allowed"
Similarly you can go throuh other types of depreciation too
    Cheers

  • How to add more depreciation in month2 (depreciation already posted month 2

    example
asset 0089 was posted deprecition in month 2 = 1000 (transaction code AFAB)
but i want to add more depreciation 500 in month 2
    can i do that ?
i use unplan depre. (transaction code ABAA) it's not post on month 2. it will post on month that not calculate depreciation.
but i want to add more depreciation in month 2.
    please help me.

    Hi Dittaporn,
please read the documentation again. You can calculate automatic depreciation, this is internally automatically calculated by AFAB during the posting run.
Unplanned depreciation is as its label documents an "unexpected", "extraordinary" amount of depreciation. AFAB can NOT calculate this amount. You have to post this, t-code ABAA. ABAA will create an asset posting line item, but will NOT post it to G/L. AFAB picks up this posting according to its value and posting date, and post this amount to G/L, collective with the rest of depreciation in this posting period.

  • Outgoing payment with Zero amount when Full adance is paid

I am making A/P down payment request based on purchase order, then I make full payment of PO (full advance payment - no amount of payment left with) through "Outgoing payment" which creates negative amount in Business partner balance and shows a negative entry in "outgoing payment" screen. Moving further, I make Goods receipt PO and then I make A/P invoice of regular amount based on goods receipt PO / Purchase order.
Up till now, the full payment has been made in advance through A/P down payment request and upon receiving goods the A/P invoice of regular amount is received. Now when I go to "outgoing payments" I have no amount left to pay (i.e. It displays 2 entries of same amount, one with positive amount of A/P invoice and the other one with negative amount of A/P down payment request to show the due balance = zero)  So I am trying to clear the vendor "outgoing payments" by paying with Zero amount, but the system shows the error "The confirmation amount should be greater than Zero".
How can I clear the vendor "Outgoing payments" with zero amount ?? as it's payment has been made in advance.
Note: Please give me the solution by keeping in mind that I have to pay full amount in advance.
Solution to this problem would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Farhan Sufi

    Hi Farhan Sufi,
For Cases where full Advance is paid initially, You Follow these procedure, I have tested in my DB its working fine.
Step 1: Raise a Purchase order Say Rs 1000/-
    Step 2: Raise a GR(PO) of Rs 1000/-
Step 3: Go To A/P Down Pmt -
    Select the Vendor -
Say copy from GR(PO), And select te One you wanted. At the bottom in the DPM Field give 100% and Add the Document.
Step 4: Raise Out Going Payment by linking to the A/P Down Pmt what you have posted. ie., Go To Out Going Pmt Screen---Select the Vendor, This will display all invoices, Down pmts, Credit Memos, and JE's. Select the A/P Down Pmt what you have posted and go to payment means fill in the respective field and add the document.
Step 5: Go To A/P Invoice Screen, select the vendor. And  click on Copy from GR(PO), Select the respective GR(PO) document.
And At the Bottom double click on Total Down Payment Button, This will display the list of all Down Payments for which Out going payments are also posted. Here Select the respective Down payment and add the document.
When you add this A/P Invoice document gets added and the status of the document will be closed. As you have made full payment in the A/P Down Payment Screen.
And This Invoice will not appear in the Out Going Screen as the document is closed.
    Cheers,
    Sree.
