PositivePay interface- EDI 828 / EDI 821

Hi Friends,
We are implementing check issued/check paid process. We are using webmethod as middle layer. The format be are sending to the bank is EDI 828 and receiving with EDI 821 format.
Can any one help in finding the IDOC and message available in ECC6 and mapping required?
Suggestions are appreciated and will be rewarded with points.
Thanks in advance.

  • Convert native EDI to EDI xml

    Hi All,
Is there any API or easy method to convert a native EDI to EDI xml...and vice versa ???
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Praveen,
    Few clarification.
    1. Only design time experience is manual, irrespective of the tool you use design time experience always has to be manual. To address this design time experience we have plans to pre-seed some of the popular document type in Oracle B2B
    2. Runtime is seamless with out any manual steps.
    3. Anuj, For production purpose it is not practical to use any evaluation/Free EDI software. That can be done only for academic purpose.
Please feel free to call me or mail me for question.

  • SEEburger error in conversion from EDI to EDI-XML

    Dear SAP experts,
    Good day!
Can i seek your inputs regarding this error i'm getting when i've tried to convert the EDI (D93A_RECADV message) into EDI-XML?
I am using BIC for this one.
This is the error i am getting,
[Error:ID=2099;LEVEL=1] InhouseDocReader doSyntaxCheck(): offset[78167]: the found segment  is not in the message description.
    Conversion error
Does this mean the source file is in wrong structure?
    Kindly advise.
    Thank you very much!
    Fred

    Hi,
Make sure that You used the Source structure in the IR from the External Def of the Seeburger SWCV only.
And deployed the necessary mappings on XI server by making the .sda file in BIC.
And the Incoming file should have the valid values while parsing the EDI file inorder to convert the EDI ti EDI_XML

    Dear Abdul,
I copied the file from your posting into a text-file and tried to convert it with my 820 BIC-Mapping.
I just had to make two modifications:
    - add some spaces so that the Sender/Receiver fields in the ISA segement were 15 fields long
    - remove a "space" before ENT*1, but this space might also just have been there because of how you posted the content into this posting.
After I had made this small changes the file could be translated perfectly fine with the mapping
    See_E2X_ANSIX12_820_V4010
So it looks like eitehr your settings are not correct in the channel (e.g. a wrong mapping is used) or the file has been modified manually (with some additional blanks, CRLF, etc...)

  • Xml to edi and edi to xml

    Hi everybody
Anybody have a basic idea how i can convert edi format to xml format. they don't want to use any software. they want us to write a code for that.
    Thanks in Advance
    tom

This can be done via File Adapter.. If you have a input XML file, that means, you can also generate the input XSD schema for that and read the file data.. In order to convert that input data into the EDI format, you must have EDI Native XSD schema to output... or you'll have make one, if it is not available OOTB.

  • EDI to RFC interface

    Hi,
I'm about to implement Spec2000 to RFC interface. since XI does not support EDI (no EDI adaptors available) i'll have choose one out of two options:
    1. manipulate EDI as it was regular text file.
    2. use 3rd party tool as an adaptor.
i belies my first option is complicated and clearly has great risk, so i'm looking for as much leads as i can get.

Option 1 - I guess that is not a good idea considering the complexity in EDI messages. But then it denpends how many interfaces you have. If there are very less say under 10 interfaces using the EDI spec. then it is still worth investing time and money on coming up with the manipulation but else.... its a night mare.
Option 2 - There are various third party adapter available ex. seeburger, iway etc which you can make use. Only thing is it comes with a cost but life becomes much easier.

  • EDI Gateway Setup

    Hi All
I need info regarding EDI Gateways(EDI Outbound Transaction setup)
I am trying to generate the falt file for Outbound Purchase Order using standard Extract programs. But I am getting empty file.
I have gone through some documents available on Net. But I could not fix this problem.
I wanted to know the basic steps we need to perform to get the output file.
I am using standard catagories only so far. I Defined values for some Categories and attached those categories to some of the columns in the Interface Table.
But still I am not getting the output file.
Do you I need to delete the columns from Output Definition to which I have not attached any category.
When I setup Trading Partner Information, Just I created A dummy name for the parnet header and attached one of the supplier name and supplier site to that partner. Will it validate the partner information somewhere while extracting the data. Is this partner information need to be present somewhere or we can create the dummy names for the testing purpose.
Please feel free to send info to [email protected]
I appreaciate your help regarding this.

If you are looking at e-Commerce Gateway, you should also look at the full Oracle B2B solution, which includes complete integration, EDI, mapping, TPM, AS2 etc. capabilities. It provides a standards-driven, flexible, end-to-end solution that you won't find elsewhere. If you are and e-Business Suite user, this would be an ideal choice.

  • Diff Btn EDI and ALE

    Hi Experts,
What is the diff btn EDI and ALE.
    Straight answers will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    SAI

    Hi,
    In simple words ...
ALE is technology for SAP mainly use to transfer data between SAP systems.
EDI is the independent technology use to transfer data between two systems, they can be SAP systems or non SAP systems.
ALE = Application Link Enable: Initially developed for SAP as an abstract layer to extract master and transactional data to be sent ellectronically to other SAP systems. These days is also being used to send data no non-SAP systems. ALE is not a protocol or anything like that, it's just abstract layer composed by a set of applications which are capable of extracting aplication data on a 1-time basis or periodically, by selection criteria or incrementally by deltas.
In contrast, EDI = Electronic data interface, this is a comunication protocol not designed by SAP but it´s an industry standard. Of course most SAP software supports EDI, but EDI it's no software but the specification of the protocol in itself.

    Padmam.

  • Steps for Idoc to EDI Subsystem

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the steps that i have to worry about to send an idoc immediately to EDI Subsystem
I mean what all things i have to specify while creating ports and partner profiles etc
    Thanks

Sending Order Confirmations by EDI (SD-SLS)
    Use
By setting up and using the Electronic Data Interchange functions in the R/3 System, you eliminate the need to print documents and send them through the standard mail system. Instead, you send the information electronically. This method is more practical, convenient, and allows you and your customer to process data faster.
In this EDI scenario, you process and send order confirmations to a customer's R/3 Purchasing system.
    Prerequisites
    Application
    Customizing
To process outbound order confirmations, you need to make all of the necessary EDI settings in Customizing for Basis. You make settings for output control in Customizing for Sales and Distribution.
    Output Control
The standard SD condition components are:
    Condition component     Value
    Sales document type     AA
    Output determination procedure     V10000
    Condition type     BA00
    Transmission medium     6 (EDI)
    Access sequence     0001
Processing subroutine     Program RSNASTED, form routine EDI_PROCESSING
    Partner function     SP (sold-to party)
    Application     V1
Condition records for outbound order confirmations are maintained in Customizing for Sales and Distribution. Choose Basic Functions  Output Control  Output Determination  Output Determination Using the Condition Technique  Maintain Output Determination for Sales Documents.
    IDoc Interface
Define the EDI partner profile for your partner (transaction WE20) by entering the following data for the outbound parameters for partner profiles and the additional profiles for message control:
    Field     Value
    Message type     ORDRSP
    Partner type     KU (customer)
    Partner function     SP (sold-to party)
    Receiver port     e.g. SUBSYSTEM
Output mode     e.g. Transfer IDoc immediately
    Basic type     ORDERS04
    Process code     SD10
    Activities
Create an order. When you save the document, the system uses your settings in output control to find the appropriate condition record and send confirmation of the order by EDI. To review and maintain output data in the document, choose Extras  Output  Header.
    Receiving Acknowledgments via EDI (MM-PUR-GF-CON)
    Use
You have arranged with your vendor that that latter is to send you acknowledgments in respect of purchase orders or outline agreements received from your company. (Note: both kinds of acknowledgment are generally referred to as "order acknowledgments" in the system. The corresponding EDIFACT term is "order response" (ORDRSP).)
You have the option of working exclusively with acknowledgments. The acknowledgment is then purely informative in nature, since only the acknowledgment number is recorded in the system.
If you wish to receive different kinds of vendor confirmation, such as both order acknowledgments and shipping notifications (also known as advance shipping notices - ASNs), it is possible for quantities and dates to be entered in the system automatically).
For more information on this topic, refer to the MM Purchasing documentation ( Confirmations from the Purchasing Viewpoint and Receiving Confirmations via EDI).
    Prerequisites
    Application
To work with several categories of vendor confirmation, you must:
u2022     Enter a confirmation control key on the item detail screen
u2022     Set up the confirmation control facility in Customizing for Purchasing (Purchasing  Confirmations  Set up Confirmation Control). There you can specify the order in which you expect confirmations from your vendors, for example.
    Under Confirmation sequence, you can:
u2022     Specify tolerances for date and price checks
u2022     Allow vendor material changes (VMat indicator)
u2022     Adopt vendor price changes (Price indicator)
Do not use a confirmation control key if you work exclusively with acknowledgments.
    IDoc Interface
You have made the following settings for your EDI vendors in Customizing for Purchasing (Purchasing  Messages  EDI  Set up Partner Profile):
    Parameters for Inbound Messages
    Field     Value
    Partner type     LI
    Partner role     LF
    Message category     ORDRSP
    Process code     ORDR
Processing     Initiate immediately or process via background program
    Activities
When an acknowledgment is received in the form of an incoming EDI message, the system checks whether a confirmation control key has been entered in the relevant PO or outline purchase agreement.
u2022     If there is no confirmation control key, only the acknowledgment number is entered on the item detail screen.
u2022     If there is a confirmation control key, the system updates the confirmation overview. That is to say, the dates and quantities set out in the acknowledgment that has just been received are recorded and taken into account in the overview. To view acknowledgments that have been received, choose Item  Confirmations  Overview from the item overview. Column C (creation indicator) contains the value 3, meaning that the acknowledgment was received via EDI. The system also enters the IDoc number in the External document column.
An IDoc can always acknowledge one purchase order only. The acknowledgment relates to the PO item, not to any individual schedule lines.
    Exceptions
When an acknowledgment is received via EDI, the system automatically checks quantities, prices, and dates. In checking quantities, it applies the over- and underdelivery tolerances set for the item. You can set tolerances for prices and delivery dates in Customizing for Purchasing under Set up Confirmation Control.
The tolerances you define apply to all vendors. Using the enhancement MM06E001 provided by SAP, you can specify that the tolerances do not apply to certain vendors.
If the acknowledged quantities, prices, and dates vary from those set out in the PO or purchase agreement, the system issues a warning message. In this case, the purchasing document is not updated.
For more information on this topic, refer to the section Error Correction (Receiving Confirmations via EDI) of the MM Purchasing documentation.
Sending PO Change Notices via EDI (MM-PUR-PO)
    Use
This section describes how to transmit a change notice relating to a purchase order that has already been sent to a vendor.
The function corresponds to the transmission of a purchase order via EDI.
    Prerequisites
    Application
You have already successfully transmitted the original purchase order to the vendor via EDI.
    Message Control
You have created message condition records for your EDI vendors (Purchasing  Master data  Messages  Purchase order  Create).
Use the message type NEU to transmit PO change notices.
    IDoc Interface
You have made the following settings for your EDI vendors in Customizing for Purchasing (Purchasing  Messages  Set up Partner Profile):
    Parameters for Outbound Messages
    Field     Value
Application     EF ( Purchasing: purchase order)
    Message category     ORDCHG
    IDoc type     ORDERS02 or ORDERS04
Process code     ME 11 (ORDCHG: PO change notice)
If you wish to transmit PO conditions or texts to your vendor, you must create an IDoc view. For more information on this topic, see Sending a Purchase Order via EDI.
    Activities
Change an existing purchase order via Purchasing  Purchase order  Change. Make the necessary changes and save the PO.
The new message is compared with the last successfully transmitted message. PO change notices indicate whether any new items have been added to the PO, and/or whether any already transmitted items have been changed.
When the message is transmitted, only those changes that are simultaneously new and print-relevant are included. The system sets the change indicator for the new message. To check the change indicator, choose Header  Messages in the PO item overview.

Receiving Order Changes by EDI (SD-SLS)
    Use
In this EDI scenario, you receive and process order changes sent by a customer from an R/3 Purchasing system.
    Prerequisites
    Application
    General
You can receive and process order changes in your system only on the basis of an existing order.
    Customizing
To process incoming order changes, you need to make all of the necessary settings in Customizing for Basis. There are no special settings for Sales and Distribution.
    IDoc Interface
Define the EDI partner profile for your partner (transaction WE20) by entering the following data in the header and detail screen for inbound parameters:
    Parameter     Value
Partner type     KU (customer); if the IDoc is sent from an R/3 system via tRFC (in a typical case with ALE scenarios), enter LS for logical system!
    Message type     ORDCHG
    Process code     ORDC
    Processing     Process immediately
Allowed Agents     Enter an R/3 user or an organizational unit, for example.
    Activities
    Inbound Processing
The IDoc interface receives the IDoc and reviews its control record. According to this record and the corresponding partner profile, the IDoc is transferred to the function module IDOC_INPUT_ORDCHG in Sales and Distribution. The ALE services are called.
The system processes the IDoc in the background, using the data records in the IDoc to determine the relevant order.
If processing is successful, the system updates the sales order. The IDoc is sent back to the IDoc interface which updates the status records in the IDoc.
    Exception Handling
If it cannot determine an order, or if an error occurs in processing, the system determines the relevant agent(s) and sends a workitem to the integrated inbox(es). An agent can pick up the workitem to process the IDoc or simply end processing.
To display an IDoc for order changes, choose Environment  Display facsimiles in the order. The system displays a dialog box of object links where you can choose Linked IDocs.

  • ALE/EDI and RFC

    Dear All,
Please, can anyone tell me what is the difference between ALE/EDI and RFCs?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards,
    Umesh.

    Hi prasad,
    1) ALE = Application Link Enable: Initially developed for SAP as an abstract layer to extract master and transactional data to be sent ellectronically to other SAP systems. These days is also being used to send data no non-SAP systems. ALE is not a protocol or anything like that, it's just abstract layer composed by a set of applications which are capable of extracting aplication data on a 1-time basis or periodically, by selection criteria or incrementally by deltas.
    2) In contrast, EDI = Electronic data interface, this is a comunication protocol not designed by SAP but it´s an industry standard. Of course most SAP software supports EDI, but EDI it's no software but the specification of the protocol in itself.
These r some major difference b/w ALE and EDI:
ALE: used to transfer IDOC with in the R3 distributed system.
EDI: used to transfer IDOC from R3 system to non sap system
ALE --This method is used to transfer master data
EDI--This method is maximum used to transfer transactional data.
    ALE--RFC port is used
    *EDI*-- FILE port is used
ALE--Data transfer takes place from one mother client to N different clients
EDI-- one partner 2 other partner thru customer distribution model
The philosophical difference between EDI and ALE can be pinned as follows:
If we send data to an external partner, we generally speak of EDI, while ALE is a mechanism to
reliable replicate data between trusting systems to store a redundant copy of the IDoc data.
The difference is made clear, when we think of a purchase order that is sent as an IDoc.
If we send the purchase order to a supplier then the supplier will store the purchase order as a sales order.
However, if we send the purchase order via ALE to another R/3 system, then the receiving system will store the purchase order also as a purchase order.
    ALE
ALE is SAP proprietary technology that enables data communications between two or more SAP R/3 systems and/or R/3 and external systems. When a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution such as R/3 is implemented, companies have to interface the ERP system with legacy systems or other ERP systems.
ALE provides intelligent mechanisms where by clients can achieve integration as well as distribution of applications and data.
ALE technology facilitates rapid application prototyping and application interface development, thus reducing implementation time.
The ALE components are inherently integrated with SAP applications and are robust, leading to a highly reliable system.
ALE comes with application distribution/integration scenarios as well as a set of tools, programs, data definitions, and methodologies that you can easily configure to get an interface up and running.
ALE allows for efficient and reliable communication between distributed processes across physically separate SAP systems.
ALE is based on application to application integration using messaging architecture. A message defines data that is exchanged between two processes. IDocs are containers that hold data exchanged between the two systems.
    Benefits of ALE:
    • Integration with non-SAP systems: ALE architecture allows third party applications to integrate with SAP system.
    • Reliable Distribution: Once message type created and the receiver of the message is determined, ALE delivers the message to the recipient. If there is any network problem it will buffer the message and delivers the message once the network is restored. It also ensures that the message is not delivered twice.
    • Release Upgrade: Any of the distributed system can be upgraded to the new release of SAP without affecting the functionality. The ALE layer ensures backward compatibility of messages exchanged between systems.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
The philosophical difference between EDI and ALE can be pinned as follows: If we send data to an external partner, we generally speak of EDI, while ALE is a mechanism to reliable replicate data between trusting systems to store a redundant copy of the IDoc data. The difference is made clear, when we think of a purchase order that is sent as an IDoc. If we send the purchase order to a supplier then the supplier will store the purchase order as a sales order. • Regarding ALE and EDI

can any one explain me what is ALE and EDI and what is difference between two?
    plese explain me with example..
    thanks in advance.
    with regards,
    kps moorthy.

However, if we send the purchase order via ALE to another R/3 system, then the receiving system will store the purchase order also as a purchase order.

ALE(Application Link Enabling) refers to the losely coupled systems whereas the EDI speaks about the Electronic Document Exchange. We need to enable ALE in order to use the EDI feature. ALE builds the bridge and EDI is the means by which the data moves in and out of the SAP system just like vehicles moving over the bridge. IDOC(Intermediate Documents) are the data containers which will be moving in and out of SAP carrying data.
Thus summarising we need to establish ALE between the systems in order to use EDI between them. In case we need to use EDI between SAP and some other target system then we need a EDI subsystem which understands these IDOCs and converts into the format understood by the target system.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE
are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to
deliver data to the receiving system.

  • Difference among  BAPI,,ALEand EDI

    HI ALL.
please tell me difference among bapi, ale and edi
and  also send me the material on those topics,
    please help me
    regards
    hussain

    Hi,
    1) ALE = Application Link Enable: Initially developed for SAP as an abstract layer to extract master and transactional data to be sent ellectronically to other SAP systems.
ALE- is used in scenarios between R/3 and R/3
EDI- is used in scenarios between R/3 and non R/3
BAPI:SAP has introduced object-oriented technology in the R/3 System by making R/3 processes and data available in the form of SAP Business Objects.
External applications can access SAP Business Objects through standardized, platform-independent interfaces - BAPIs. SAP Business Objects and their BAPIs provide an object-oriented view of R/3 business functionality.
    Hope this helps.
