Hi, I have a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo with 4GB RAM.
When I want to watch a movie or a video on-line. I click on play, and it plays without audio and after a second or so the it comes out and syncs. Is there a problem?

1. System Preferences > Other/ Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
     Press the "Delete All" button
2. Install Adobe Flash Player.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    Quit Safari.
    Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

After deleting all plugins from the folder "Internet Plugin", Safari worked again no problem, BUT all sites with flash content (e.g.YouTube) did not work.
I then tried the following experimental steps:
a) Moved all plugins from the folder "Internet Plugin" into a temporary folder.
b) Downloaded and istalled Adobe Flash Player version 10.3.181.34
c) Started Safari and it did not work ( same message"TastyAppsAVPlugin")
d) Deleted Adobe Flash Player from the folder "Internet Plugin". Safari worked.
e) Moved back all plugins, except Adobe Flash Player, from the temporary folder to "Internet Plugin" folder. Safari works... But Flash won't work!!! Before update to Safari 5.0.6 , ev erything worked perfectly well.
Guys, please solve the problem

Possible problem w/ my mini

Hi all,
I just recently purchased a used mac mini (mid 2010) w/ 8 gigs of memory. I started having crashes where the screen turns grey and tells me I need to reboot my machine. It's happened for a variety of reasons, like playing a dvd or an x-men movie i have in itunes.
I've taken this to the Genius folks and after a day they told me that it were the 3rd party RAMs. Excited to know the problem was resolved I replaced the rams with another brand and shortly thereafter it still crashes.
What now can it be? I am running the latest 10.7.1 and have the latest updates. Help! I'm not that confident with the Genius folks. I remember asking the guy how is it that they deterimined it was a bad ram and he just said some giberish and then said well i didn't take those rams and test it on another machine. So, I'm a bit skeptical these guys did a thorough inspection. I got a feeling all they did was see kernel panics and typical blamed it on third party hardware.
What do you guys think possible problems with my machine??? Thanks.

Well it is hard to diagnose bad Ram. Pretty much people replace it, and see if the new stuff (or old stuff) works better. There are RAM tests, but they can literally take ages to run, and quicker tests aren't that reliable.
But if you put in new RAM and are still having kernel panics, then I would also suspect your system and or hard drive. FYI, after I used Migration Assistant to move files from my old G5 to my new Mini, the mini would panic every few minutes. I had to reinstall Lion from scratch, manually avoid getting old code on the mini, but now my new mini flies and runs great.
Zapped your PRAM? Also, I assume you've already tried disk utility to repair any issues on your hard drive?
Do you have an extra external disk you can put a clean version of Lion on to run? Finally, any vestiges of Power PC code that might be hanging around?

Mega Player 533- F/W v2.00.02 & Driver v1.672- Possible Problem & Fix to Recover

RE: Firmware v2.00.02 & Driver v1.672 Update dated 06/04/06 for Megaplayer 533 - Model MS5533.
I think that there is a possible problem with the above Driver & Firmware Versions as they do not seem to work for the Mega Player 533 - Model MS5533 ???. It renders the player inoperable (ie.Unable to turn player on at all) and also makes the 256MB flash drive unrecognisable to the computer (ie. computer asks for a disk to be inserted into the flash drive, similarly like the SD Expansion slot) .
All Steps to update the firmware were followed to the letter, including no battery, updating to the new version of the driver software v1.672, formatting the drive at the same time and pressing sustained "play" button.
Possible Fix : I was able to make the player operable again by reinstalling the original driver software & rolling back the firmware version back to v1.00.06 again (Try original firmware v1.00.02 if you haven't saved the v1.00.06 Firmware to your hard drive, as MSI does not have any longer the v1.00.06 firmware on their website to download anymore ). It now works as it did before :D(unfortunately still with the "ROCK" setting bug) .
NOTE: In order for computer to recognise the drive, Press sustained "Play" button when connecting to the computer, then please go to "start" (below left corner) and enter "programs" and choose "MSI MEGA PLAYER MS-5533" then "Download Firmware".
Computer should then recognise the player and allow for the firmware update .
My main concern is that many of MSI's other unsuspecting customers will download this particular software and experience the same problems as I did. They probably won't be able to figure out how to rectify this issue & therefore unfortunately be left with a player that does not work at all .
I have logged this problem now with MSI, but have yet to hear a response from them.
Has anyone else out there experienced this same problem or is it just me??? ???.
I searched this forum for any similar posts for this problem but found none.
If I am doing anything wrong to update firmware v 2.00.02, please let me know.
I did notice however that driver v1.672 software for MS5533 was called a "Megastick" and NOT a "Mega Player". Is this possibly the cause of the problem as it is the wrong driver for the MSI 533 Mega Player - Model MS5533 ???. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

1) I deleted all file instances and registry traces of old 533 driver and downloader versions both automatically (by uninstaller) and manually (coz related sys file was still there, in system32\drivers folder and maybe also in driver backup after automatic uninstallation). Also maybe it is necessary to perform a complete search because despite I deleted the related sys, windows was able to install recovery device probably from its driver backup folder. I also deleted related oemxx.inf from \inf folder (be careful, don’t delete the wrong oemxx.inf ones belong to other devices). Because windows rename/recopy original *.inf into oemxx.inf.
2a) I put firmware files from zip into driver installation package's bin folder.
2b) Again I put firmware files from the zip into c:\program files\msi\... after installation (though this step is probably unnecessary)
3) I removed battery, pushed the button, plugged in, windows recognized it as recovery device, after about 5 seconds (not too long coz a device timeout occurs sometimes, and if this happens unplug and replug while still pressing the button) started software, now device was disappeared from hardware list momentarily and re-recognized as storage volume.
4) Here I get an error message like "operating system error..." It was impossible to use software with the device recognized as "recovery device". I unplugged and re-plugged now without pressing the button, device was recognized as usb storage volume and I started the software and upgraded the firmware. Device was inoperable...
5) Repeated the process, now with pressing the button. I upgraded the firmware. And everything was OK. Rock EQ fault was gone. A playlist function is added, hough I dunno how to use this as yet : ) When I go into playlist option I’m unable to exit, and only way I found to exit is turnoff. Except this detail it works properly.
My computer is a standard Dell latitude c600 (an old model with one USB-1 port only), with windows xp spII. Device chip is stmp3502 according to latest driver but it was a stmp3500 according to driver on the cd came with the device.

PS: Despite the whole adventure I really like this device, its plain design, SD card feature, removeable battery, and especially its stmp35xx chip, also used in ipod shuffles which is regarded as best sounding ipod model, by some people.
PS 2: Maybe this is known to everyone, but I just noticed that it is possible to play non-compressed wav files with maga player 533 (16 bit 44.1 khz stereo PCM files). All you have to do is copying them into "voice" folder of the device. Then you have CD quality audio. I dont know whether it is possible with older firmwares too, or just a feature of latest one. I also tried higher quality formats like 24 bit 48 khz but device couldnt see these ones

A possible problem with parallel operation?

Hello everyone,
         I am working on a labview program that uses parallel execution, and I am running into a possible problem. Please bear with me, as sometimes it is difficult to explain things happening in Labview in text alone. This application reads data from a server that we have in one of our labs via an ActiveX component. This server is known as a TIU server. The server contains various data including part numbers, serial numbers etc. It sends this data out in three different signals. A sequence count, an ASCII high, and an ASCII low. The sequence counter sends data in the following manner. When the sequence count is 0 and both ASCII high and low are NULL, then a new part number sequence is about to begin. When the count sequence changes to "1", then the next two string charaters listed under ASCII high and ASCII low represent a number that is a "Function ID". There are several of these, and each function ID contains different information either a part number, a serial number, etc. Once this is read, and it is determined that you are looking at the correct Function ID, the next Count shows how many charaters are to follow, and then you read each set of two ASCII characters and concatenate them together until you build the entire ASCII sequence as one variable and the sequence is complete.
       There are several equipment cards attached to this TIU server, and each card is free wheeling it's data out. As soon as power is applied, it will continue to send out all of its function ID's sequentially (Function ID 0-9) in order, in a circular fashion at a 1 Hz. rate. A really strange system to be sure, but it is a limitation that I have to deal with. So now that I have laid a bit of the background on this, here is the problem. Occasionally, (maybe one out of 20 trys), the data seems to get slightly corrupted. For example, in the enclosed code, I ran it 40 times, reading the same part number each time. In theory, it should always be the same result. But it is not. I am wondering if there is an issue with running the "READ TIU SERVER.vi" in PreAllocated clone reentrant execution mode? Perhaps on occasion, one of the instances does not fully close, before another instance begins, and a few bits get flipped around? I suppose it is possible that occasionally the TIU server is actually putting out erroneous data (and I am actually reading everything perfectly), but it is a fairly mature system, and I have not gone down that path yet. I have included the .vi that I am using to read the server data "test.vi", and the "Read TIU Server.vi" that is set to Preallocated clone reentrant execution. In this example, the "test.vi" is only a single instance, but in the actual program, I am running 20-30 of these, as Preallocated clone reentrant execution as well. As there are 20-30 cards on each TIU server to get information from. I am hoping that this makes sense, and that I have laid it out in a logical fashion. Sort of hard to explain in text sometimes.       Thanks for taking a look. You caught me on the shift register, I had not gotten around to cleaning up a few things. However the "elapsed time" functions acutally are there on purpose. Unfortunately, it takes a VERY long time to get one of those part numbers, as only two ASCII characters are moved accross the bus at a 1 Hz. rate. I orginally had all wait statements, but I discovered that when you stop a while loop, it will continue until the wait timer has expired. With 20+ of these functions in parallel, it was taking upwards of 30 seconds for the program to finally end. From what I was reading on the forums of others that had that problem, a "elapsed time" function can be broken through, while a standard "wait" statement cannot. Now when I press the "STOP" button, the program ends almost immediately.
     This is not a standard piece of equipment that I am using, but I think the explanation is of how it works is fairly accurate. Would you have a guess as to why every so often the data gets corrupted? Other than the bus itself is actually putting wrong data out there? I suppose I should check that as well, but due to the slow rate of the bus, and the tools that we have, I will have to sit and watch it for a long time... Thanks...

Since Apple does not provide a DVD disk or any other media for installing the operating system, I am wondering if there is some sort of Checksum that comes with the downloaded file like a PGP signature or MD5 hash? Because if pepople are having problems downloading the Mountain Lion OS that means there is a possibility of corruption of the software after downloading.
How can you confirm the software is completely intact and valid?

There are others and I would have to wonder with the time it would take to download the Operating system (and in some cases cost) why is there no physical media?

Possible Problem with quicktime causing itunes malfunction

i think the problem with my itunes is that the quicktime file is screwed up. i tried removing it on add/remove programs, but it doesnt work for some reason. any possible ways to fix this problem? i also tried downloading quicktime separately, but that didnt work either.

Possible problem with SigID 5442

We've been experiencing some false-positives with the Cursor/Icon File Format Buffer Overflow (SigID 5442) signature.
We've had some instances where the alarm has fired on a string containing ".ani", but not at all related to a file of this type.
Here's an example lifted right out of one such alarm...
ACON[\x00-\xFF]*anih([^\x24][\x00-\xFF][\x00-\xFF][\x00-\xFF]|[\x24][^\x00][\x00-\xFF][\x00-\xFF]|[\x24][\x00][^\x00][\x00-\xFF]|[\x24][\x00][\x00][^\x00])
Note that there is no leading "." in front of "ani" and that the text is actually "anih".
Is this intended behaviour for this SigID, or have I found a bug?

It looks like this may indeed be a false positive. I believe the problem stems from the variable length fields that can appear between the ACON header and the anih stub chuck identifier. To eliminate the possibility of false negatives we chose to use the [\x00-\xff] wildcard; this does allow for a slim chance of false positives. This signature was chosen because it addresses the vulnerability and cannot false negative. That being said we will continue to research this signature for modification in a future signature update.
In the meantime the following 5.x custom signatures may be of use. The main signature is a meta signature consisting of 2 component signatures. In order to create 5.x custom meta signatures the sensor must be running signature update S167 or later.

Cannot connect extender to network - possible problems??

I've tried placing it diff paces around the house and installing. Have tried installing with the CD and manually. What could possibly the problem? I can connect to signal but there's not internet cause it won't connect to the router. Does my router have to be linksys too?

Try to use the RE1000 as a wireless adapter. Connect your computer to the RE1000 and then access the RE1000's ui. Under wireless>> site survey tab, try to look for the available wireless network and check if the RE1000 will be able to detect the router.

Help!!!! I am having a situation where my screen suddenly turns white with black lines going from top to bottom - looks like a pin stripe affect. I have executed several different anti-virus and malware programs and nothing was identified. If I turn my PC off and re-boot, I may be ok for a few minutes before it occurs again. Z87-GD65 possible problem

Alright, so I've been posting on some forums with this problem but idk why it never occurred to me to put it on here..considering I do have an MSI board. I've been having freezing problems with my new pc build lately, the build is...

Now I've ruled out the video card, the RAM, and the SSD through testing. So the only possibility is problems with the motherboard, processor, or PSU. Now the computer seems to randomly freeze, sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes an hour or so, sometimes I'm gaming sometimes it's just downloading a game. I've had a few ppl suggest overheating and that the heatsink may not be properly mounted on, but as far as I can tell it is and the cpu temps aren't going above 55 during gaming, and idle around 37. I realize the stock cooler isn't going to cut it for long so I do have a plan for water cooling that I'm getting within the next week or so. So I guess if heat is the issue than that should fix it, but I have a feeling it may be the mobo, or maybe I haven't set something properly(although I've checked over that a few times and everything seems to be set properly, nothing is overclocked). Now earlier I pulled a stick of RAM out and was running on one stick, and it seemed to be working but I didn't have more than an hour so I can't say with 100% certainty that it solved the problem or maybe it was just taking a bit longer to freeze than usual. So maybe it has something to do with a bad DIMM slot? because I got replacment ram and it's still freezing and I have a hard time believing I got 4 bad sticks of RAM in a row. So if this is sounding familiar to anyone and knows anything about this problem I would really appreciate some input.

ATI Catalyst 12.10 - Possible Problems

I have an ATI Radeon HD 7850 and I've upgraded from 12.8 to 12.10.
I'm seeing a couple of problems, one Photoshop-related:
1. Photoshop is now told that the video card has from 100,000 to 1,000,000 megabytes of VRAM. The value was accurate in 12.8. This can potentially cause serious issues with 3D work, and possibly anything that uses the GPU (I'm not sure), as it's impossible to configure less than 1% of the overreported "available VRAM" for GPU usage.
2. In my case I've found that the power-saving monitor shutdown no longer works properly. It shuts the monitors down okay, but then around a minute later it powers them back up and just displays a black screen with the cursor in the middle.
I have fully uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled 12.10 to be absolutely sure there are no remnants of 12.8 laying around, and the problems persist.
I suggest installing Catalyst 12.10 only if you feel comfortable with testing drivers, and potentially uninstalling, cleaning, and reinstalling an older version.
I've reported these issues to AMD.

I agree with you! But it may be that they didn't notice this particular glitch, as they'd have to use either the Help - System Info menu or Edit - Preferences - 3D configuration panel (which only Photoshop Extended has) to see the problem.
It's also possible that if you don't try to change the preference in the 3D panel, and just continue with what's already configured before upgrading the driver, that it might work properly. But I don't know how Photoshop maintains that configuration setting internally... It might be kept as a percentage, in which case it would be completely bogus with this driver version.
For what it's worth, when I first tried to run Photoshop after the driver upgrade, it sort of worked but I saw some crashes. Then I looked in the 3D configuration dialog and noticed this issue. In my case, since I have 2GB of on-card VRAM, setting the configuration to 1% netted me just under the actual VRAM amount I have, and since doing that Photoshop seems to work better.

Kt4v possible problem with bios 1.8 and hd

Any Idea anyone with this one.
system running well till the other day when hd went very slow even after defrag, install bios 1.8 and reset the bios and adjusting it for my setup. Come to check my harddrive with maxtor powerdiag 3.04 and could not find the drive or any other drives connected. In the bios setup the drive is present. I removed all drives, cdroms, etc except the maxtor main hd and tried again with the same result. After placing in an ata100 controller card in to a spare pci slot and plugged the hd on to it, that the software sees the drive. The test finished and show the HD to be fine.
The question is do I have a problem with the onboard contoller or with the new bios or both.
When I first got this MB I did the same test with the original bios and the hd connected to the MB controller and the software had no problem seeing that and other drive connected.

I'll stick with the V1.10, but I'd fell better if MSI showed me they actively update their systems by releasing updated BIOS files from time to time.
I can't sell a 15000$ storage system that doesn't recognise the CPUs installed. The customer would laugh and tell me to come back with a supported system.
Isn't this a VERY valid reason for wanting updates? Even if it only is an updated CPU list?
The only reason I tried this MSI board is that it was the only one available with my retailer at the time I bought it with 3 PCI-X 100Mhz slots. Maybe I should go with a Tyan Thunder next time. Tyan at least show some activity.

JDBC, JMS and EJB transactions - possible problem?

          I am using Oracle 9, Weblogic 8.1 SP 4, MyEclipse and
          XDoclet.
          In my current project I have the following piece of code
          in one of my message driven beans (code cited as pseudocode
          without unnecessary details):

          Some days ago (before the final remarks from my client) there used to be only one DataSource configurated on the basis of the
          connection pool with non-XA jdbc driver. Everything worked fine
          including the transactions (if anything wrong happend not only wasn't the replymessage sent, but also no changes were written
          to database and the incomming message was thrown back to the my bean's
          queue).
          When I deployed the second DataSource I was informed by an error message, that only one non-transactional resource may
          participate in a global transaction. When I changed both datasources
          to depend on underlying datasources with transatcional (XA) jdbc drivers, everything stopped working. Even if
          EJB transaction was theoretically successfully rolledbacked, the changed were written to the database
          and the JMS message wasn't resent to the JMS queue.
          So here are my questions:
               1. How to configure connection pools to work in such situations? What JDBC drivers should I choose?
               Are there any global server configurations, which may influence this situation?
               2. Which jdbc drivers should I choose so that the container was able to rollback the database transactions
               (of course, if necessary)?
               3. Are there any JMS Queue settings, which would disable the container to send message back to the
               queue in case of setRollbackOnly()? How should be the Queue configurated?
          As I am new to the topic and the deadline for the project seems to be too close I would be grateful
          for any help.

          I found these information extremely useful and helpful.
          The seperate transaction for sending messages was, of course, unintentional. Thanks a lot.
          Anyway, I still have some problems. I have made some changes to the
          code cited in my previous mail. These changes included changing QueueSessions
          to non-transactional. I also set the "Honorate global transactions" to true.
          I am using XA JDBC driver. After setting "Enable local transactions" to false
          (I did it, because I assume that JDBC transactions should be part on the global
          EJB transaction) I got the following error:
          java.sql.SQLException: SQL operations are not allowed with no global transaction by default for XA drivers. If the XA
          driver supports performing SQL operations with no global transaction, explicitly allow it by setting
          "SupportsLocalTransaction" JDBC connection pool property to true. In this case, also remember to complete the local
          transaction before using the connection again for global transaction, else a XAER_OUTSIDE XAException may result. To
          complete a local transaction, you can either set auto commit to true or call Connection.commit() or Connection.rollback().
          I have also inspected the calls of methods of bean inside of onMessage() method just to check, whether
          the transactions are correctly initialized (using the weblogic.transaction.Transaction class).
          My questions are as follows:
          1. Any suggestions how to solve it? I have gone through the google answers on that problem and only
          thing I managed to realize that JDBC must start its own transaction. Is there any way to prohibit it
          from doing that? Can using setAutocommit(true/false) change the situation for better?
          2. How to encourage the JDBC driver to be a part of EJB transaction?
          3. As I have noticed each of ejb method has its own transactions (transactions have different
          Xid). Each method of the bean has "required" transaction attribute. Shouldn't it work in such
          way that if already started transaction exists it is used by the called method?
          4. The DataSources are obtained in my application via JNDI and in the destination environment I will have slight
          impact on the configuration of WebLogic. What is least problematic and most common WebLogic configuration which would
          enable JDBC driver to participate in the EJB transaction? Is it the WebLogic configuration problem or can it be
          solved programmically?
          Currently my module works quite fine when "enable local transactions" for DataSources is set to true, but this way
          I am loosing the ability to perform all actions in one transaction.
