Possible to have dynamic content in a Single edition app?

Here is the scoop. I am designing a program for a local stage play. I am doing the program in inDesign because inDesign is awesome.
Equally awesome is the DPS: Single edition.
However, I would like to have more dynamic features in the DPS version that change quite regularily:
Twitter Feed
Other information from a data feed
anything else I can think of to make it more of an app than a digital copy of the program. I can simply do a PDF version for a static download. But I want something to make downloading appealing ... (open to ideas as to what kind of stuff can be done)
I guess another question would be does it have to be uploaded to the app store or can it be provided to users directly for download from a website?

Possible to have if statement within filters code?

I have some filters set up, and have assigned some global vars to them, which I then use in my Filters code to display the filters:
myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1, globals.data.stroke1, globals.data.shad1]
Works perfectly.
Now I want to assign a global var to each global filter var to determine if it should be shown or not. So...
globals.data.glow1On = true;
globals.data.stroke1On = true;
globals.data.shadOn = true;
... and then somehow incorporate these new vars into an if conditional to determine if the filter global vars get included in the myText:Filters code.
However, I cannot seem to code the if conditional into the myText:Filters code correctly.
I even tried seperating it out like so:
if (globals.data.glow1On = true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1];
if (globals.data.stroke1On = true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.stroke1];
if (globals.data.shad1On = true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.shad1];
But Flash only makes the last filter true (kinda makes sense to me now why).
Is there a way to do it without having to make an if conditional with 7 permutations?

You are not coding the conditional properly. "=" is for assignment, "==" is for comparing equality.
if (globals.data.glow1On == true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1];
if (globals.data.stroke1On == true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.stroke1];
if (globals.data.shad1On == true) {myText:Filters [globals.data.shad1];
Also, a conditional evaluates whether or not something is true, so for Boolean values you do not need to explicitly compare them...
if (globals.data.glow1On) {myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1];
if (globals.data.stroke1On) {myText:Filters [globals.data.stroke1];
if (globals.data.shad1On) {myText:Filters [globals.data.shad1];
Lastly, for what I see that you showed, the conditionals are all missing their closing brackets, and while you can use them, the brackets are not needed for single command conditionals...
if (globals.data.glow1On){ myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1]; }
if (globals.data.stroke1On){ myText:Filters [globals.data.stroke1]; }
if (globals.data.shad1On){ myText:Filters [globals.data.shad1]; }
OR

Is it possible to have Dynamically changing list of Radio buttons ?

There is a list box which a list of values like 'State', 'City', etc.
When the user chooses a value in the list box, based on the value chosen say 'City', I should display a list of Cities. The user should then be allowed to choose 1 and only city from the list.
Is it possible to have list of radio buttons such that there is 1 radio button for each city and the user can then choose any one of the radio buttons ?
In this case the number of cities and what those cities are is unknown. So I need to have a dynamically changing list of radio buttons. Is this possible ?
Version of forms : Forms 6.0.5.

Hi Aruna
You can create a lot of radio buttons and hide|display them in runtime. It is more suitable i think to use the t-list instead of radio.

Is it possible to have an event within an event?

I have an event named for my niece, and I have all the pictures of her in it. I'm wondering if it's possible to have events within events, so I can just have 1 event with her name, then when you click on it, sub-events named things like "Christmas" "Thanksgiving" etc.?

no - events are time based and can not be nested - use albums and smart albums which can be placed in folders and folders can be placed in folders for that kind of organization - Europe folder containing France and Italy folders each containing cities as an example
Events are just a very basic and inflexible organization for people to start with - albums, folders, keywords and ratings are where the power is

Is it possible to have an attachment within a pdf doc print at the same time the main doc prints?

Okay, so this may be kind of a weird question. We have some users who are wanting to add a page to an already existing xml document and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that it's not possible to add/delete pages from a pdf that's in xml format. Since that is not possible, I have added the page to the xml document as an attachment. Now what I am wanting to know is if it is possible to have the attachment print out at the same time as the main document. We are using the latest version of Adobe Reader and I have access to Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 & 10 and then I have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro 7. I've been unable to find anyting via google or by searching this forum so hopefully I'll draw out some kind of smart cookies and we'll get this figured out. I appreciate any and all input!

Can I have a selectManyListBox within a <ui:repeat> or that is completely wrong ? I can displayed the values properly , however I cant retrieve the selected items in my list.

I have hyperlinked contents within my documents (not to any external source). I am not able to open the hyperlinks on my ipad. what do I do?

So I've typed out a document using Microsoft Word (on my laptop- office 2007) and have hyperlinked the contents to different sections within the laptop.
I sent it to myself and downloaded it onto my dropbox on the ipad.
The hyperlink doesn't open though. I have downloaded word compatible/ editing softwares on my ipad, but the hyperlinks still don't open.
How does this work? Hyperlinks don't work at all on the ipad?

If you created a link directed to a file path on your laptop, and subsequently tried to follow the link on your iPad, this wouldn't open since the file doesn't exist on your iPad at the specified path. If the link was to a stable URL, the hyperlink should open.

Possible to have dynamic default selections for a dashboard prompt?

I'm running OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5, and I have customer who would like to know if it is possible to dynamically select default values on a dashboard prompt based upon other user prompted columns on the same prompt. For example, I built a dashboard prompt with three fields: Month, Customer, and Product; and I want to add a default selection to my Products prompt to pick the "top 4 products" based on the selected Month and Customer.. assuming every Customer+Month has a different "top 4 products".
Does anyone please have a suggestion on how I could approach this solution?

Thank you for your response. I've tested this approach and it seems promising. My concern I have there is how to treat "(All Choices)" values. Say the user selects All Choices on customer or period, and the presentation value in my SQL Results query reverts to whatever default value specified, which is not the intended behavior. My question then becomes how do I treat the null or All Choices and somehow omit the filter criteria or specify fy All Choices as a default to the presentation variable? Your advice is much appreciated.

If it will all fit in memory read the file as you are doing now appending everything into a StringBuilder. Then use the reverse() method of that class to obtain your output.

Possible to have an applet within an applet?

Hi. I am designing a GUI using swing. It has a Card layout ie. different tab screens. On one of them I want to implement a pannel within which the user can scribble.
I have the code for a scribble applet. can I run that applet within a pannel in my GUI?

Since Applet extends Panel, just add an instance of the Applet to your display as you would any other panel, then call its init() and start() methods.

Possible to have dynamic number of subviews?

I am writing a blogging application, with JSF, which allows unlimited nesting of comments. The structure of my Comment bean is like this:
class Comment
List replies; //list of Comments
Therefore, I need to use recursion to display the comments with all their replies. As I don't want to create a custom tag, I decided to do recursion by using dynamic includes. Thus, every comment will be displayed in its own dynamically included page.
However, I've run into a problem as each dynamic include needs to be enclosed in <f:subview> tags, and f:subview ids must be statically defined and must be unique. Is there a workaround for this problem?

Is it possible to search for content within a PDF across a mapped drive?

Yes. Use Edit>Advanced search. Choose All PDF Documents in and choose the mapped drive.
They have to be searchable PDF's of course...

Writing dynamic content using JspWriter

In my jsp I call a java object this java object calls jspWrtiter.print("some string");
this prints string that is fine.Suppose I want to write any taglibrary or include another jsp this way is it possible ?
for example below is my jsp

the second line where I say jsp:include, prints as it is, it does not include that jsp.Is there any way I can have dynamic content not just html through JspWrite print method ?

out.print("<jsp:include page='jsp/include.jsp' />");this is perfectly iilegal as jsp tags are always executed at the server side but not at the client side.
therefore that would only print something like
<jsp:include page='jsp/include.jsp' /> in the client broswer page.
the other way which i can think of is using iframes if you wanna do it @client side.
something like
out.println("<iframe src='jsp/include.jsp' width='100' height='100' scrollable='no' />");and the other way is making use of AJAX calling the JSP and getting back the content from the JSP and then updating a DIV / SPAN field accordingly.

Need some help with dynamic content

Okay so I have made a whole site design from the ground up, yea I know thats the easy part haha. Well now we have came into a problem in the coding aspect of the design. For the site we have dynamic content involved that is coded with PHP/HTML. The website contains a user system that requires them to log into view the content of the page.
Well the issues I am having is I can not get flash to load this external file into a frame I have designated for it. Im not sure if flash can load external PHP/HTML and I need help to figure this issue out since I am new to Flash.

One other thing you might try searching for, though to me it's just vague hearsay... Someone may have written a class that can be use which enhances Flash's limited html capabilities and allows for thml content to be displayed (possibly being its own version of a browser of sorts)... but like I said, it's only hearsay to me, assuming I'm remembering the right hear.
