Possible to hide columns in discoverer

Hi
Is it possible to hide columns in discoverer.
thanks

See what's going on here:

or here:
can i modify the query in discoverer
or you could start another thread and ask the same question in a different way. Just work on one thread, as multiple threads on the same topic will wind up annoying most users to the point where they won't be willing to help. If I get a chance to think about this later today, I'll respond to the post above which is most active.

  • Hide Columns in Discoverer

Does anyone know if it is possible to hide a column in a discoverer report? I had to include a data element from a folder in order to do a calculation on the data element, however, the data element itself is meaningless for the report and I want to hide it. Anyone?
    Thanks,
    CC

    Hi Fred,
Discoverer's handling of this situation is not ideal but it is possible.
    1. Pull in the items you need in your calculation into the report (temporarily).
    2. Design your calculation.
    3. Remove the items in the calculation that you no-longer need.
Discoverer will keep all the necessary relationships in the worksheet to support the calculation but not the data.
In SQL terms, this is equivalent to pulling in extra tables in the FROM/WHERE clauses and yet not outputting them in the SELECT clause. The difference is that, in Discoverer, you can't mention items that are not already SELECTed. You can, however, unSELECT items that are already in the SELECT/FROM/WHERE clause without dropping them from FROM/WHERE at the same time.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,

  • Hide a column in Discoverer

    Hi All,
I need to hide a column in Discoverer, though I want that column to create a summary at the end.
Currently I have a report as below in discoverer.
    Type Count Sales
    T1 100 500
    T2 200 1000
    T3 300 2000
    T4 NA 3000
    Total 600 6500
    This should be changed to,
    Type Count
    T1 100
    T2 200
    T3 300
    Total Sales 6500
    Note that
For T4, there was no count available earlier. So it is not appearing now.
    Sales col is removed.
Total Sales is made as a new row at the end.
    Is it possible?
    Please advice
    Thanks

    I don't think it's possible.
You can create totals only for data items that are displayed as columns. Only these items can be selected for creating totals.

  • Is it possible to Hide a sheet in Discoverer 4i???

    Hi,
I just have a requirement to hide a sheet in discoverer, Is it possible to Hide a sheet in Discoverer 4i???
Please let me know the way if possible.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kesava

    Hi Kesava
There is no mechanism for hiding a sheet in any version of Discoverer. I would have two workbooks, one containing the worksheets you want to be widely available and the other containing the restricted worksheets. You can then independently control who gets which one.

  • Possible to hide but not supress Crosstab column totals?

The reason I ask is because I really don't want to show the whole crosstab column totals section.
Only reason I need the column totals of a crosstab is because I am taking some field values off of it by defining variables using a supression formula.
I then take the variable and make a calculation on the crosstab itself... just not on the column totals.
    So simply put,
Any way to 'hide' column totals in Crosstabs?  Supressing it in Cross-tab Expert would render my declared variables to zero.

    Hi Brian.
Unfortunately, the column that would-be hidden using your method would also be something I need to show in the actual Crosstab summary calculations.
Ultimate goal is to show all the summary calculations but just hide the "Column Totals" which also has a supression formula declared in order to use that variable in a display string within a Crosstab summary field.
A bit complicated without showing the Crosstab but that's the best way I can explain it I guess.

  • Hiding Specific Columns in discoverer

    Hi all !
Is it possible to hide specific columns for some specific users ?. I have 10 columns in the table out of which 2 columns should not be visible to specific users and other 2 columns should not be visible to some specific users in the report generated.
    Thank You ,
    Philip

    Hi Philip
One option would be to create two versions of this report and use different connections - private or SSO - to implement this.
The other option may be to consider VPD to implement this functionality.

  • Is it possible to hide part of the line in webI line chart

I had webI line chart which is showing for 2 months data, and is it possible to hide the line for only first 10 days in the line chart and continue the line after 11 th day till the end?

@rajesh:  I didn't understand why should we use Relativedate() function?can you please explain little bit more. Becuase the report has customer exit written such a way that if I run the report today it will show up previous 60 days
    For example:
    today is 04/06/2011
so in the report date column has values and shows up like
    02/06/2011
    02/07/2011
    02/08/2011
    04/05/2011.
So now I should hide/avoid/shouldn't show First 10 days. In example above 02/06/2011, 02/07/2011,02/08/2011.....like wise 10 days so till 02/16/2011 shouldn't be shown in the report. The beginning of the report should start from 02/17/2011 till 04/05/2011..

  • Hide column result in pivot grand total row

    Hello
Do you know if it is possible to hide the result of a particular column in a pivot grand total row?
I have several columns to which makes sense use a grand total row (as in a sum) but for others (such as average) it does not make sense in the light of the client business rules.
Any help on this matter is highly appreciated :)
    Thanks in advance,
    J Marques

I have a measure that represents the average time according to the dimensions it uses - and that works properly.
However, the grand total for that column shows me the average of the average times above. This is not correct that is why I want to hide it.As said by kishore, In pivot go to that time average time column -> Aggregation rule -> None, This won't affect the column avg value.
The grant total value will not come.
By setting this, are you getting wrong values?
    Thanks,
    Vino

  • Hide column based on prompt

    Hi Gurus,
Can i hide column based on Prompt value?
    My requirement is
I have report is showing Daily/Weekly/Monthly data based on prompt value ( Prompt selected values are Daily/Weekly/Monthly)
If user select daily then report will display data every day. if user select Weekly then report will display Every week data ( Week start from Monday).
I have one more columns as Day name to display day of the week for daily report. its working fine.
but i want hide day name column when i run report for weekly.
How can i hide column based on Prompt value. is it possible in OBIEE 10.3
    really appreciated for your help

Here's simpler approach. Use column selectors.
    1) The first column in your column selector will be where you put your Daily/Weekly/Monthly choices.
    2) In the second column, put your Day column. Add another column, doesn't matter what. I'll explain later. In the caption for this column, put in something like "Select to Hide Day column."
    3) Click "OK" and put your column selector in your Compound Layout.
    4) Now, select the other column in place of the Day column.
    5) Now go to the criteria tab. The "second choice" column should now be there in place of the original first column. Dummy out this column and click on the "Hide" checkbox in the column properties. Change the name to "No column."
    6) Now go back to Results. The user now has two choices for the Day column, either the original column (the Day column) or the "No column" choice. When the "No column" choice is selected, the column disappears from the report. Users can make the selection whenever they choose Weekly as their choice.

  • Database diagram, unable to hide columns

    Hi, I've installed JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0.
If I create a diagram and I place a table I can see all the columns of that table.
In previous version (i was using the jdeveloper1111 beta preview...) it was possible to hide some columns by right clicking on the column -> hide selected shape.
I still can see this option but it's disabled (gray):

    This is a normal behavior?

a bit late, but for the others ... easily possible:
    FORM hide_column TABLES ft_fcat STRUCTURE lvc_s_fcat.
       DATA ls_fcat      LIKE LINE OF ft_fcat      .
       ls_fcat-fieldname = 'ALV_FIELD'       .
       ls_fcat-tabname   = 'ALV_STRUCTURE'        .
      ls_fcat-no_out    = abap_true               .
       APPEND ls_fcat    TO ft_fcat                .
    ENDFORM.                    " HIDE_COLUMN

  • Using a Print Style Sheet to hide columns in a report

    Hello there,
I am curious to know whether it is possible to hide certain columns in reports using a print style sheet.
I tried using the 'CSS Class' attribute when editing column formatting but it appears to be completely ignored and simply overwritten with the theme's default CSS Class for a report table cell (t15data in my case).
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
    Cheers,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan,
Perhaps the simplest thing would be to change your page template (or, more probably, take a copy of the one you are using and edit that instead).
Add id="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" into the TH and TD tags for the Column Heading Template and all of the Column Templates.
Then, in the Region Header of the region containing the report (or anywhere above the region), enter in:
    <style type="text/css" media="print">
    #ID_OF_COLUMN_TO_HIDE {display:none}
    >/style>
I have not tested this to see if it impacts on any other page functionality, but it does do what you need - ie, the column appears on screen but not on a printout.
    Regards
    Andy

  • Hide column but still have the results displayed

I am working in BEx query designer 2004s.  Is it possible to hide a column but still have the results displayed?  If I go to the properties of the column and check 'always hide' it hides the column but the results do not display either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the query designer, you select Hide option for the returns key figure from the context menu. Now your report will not show the returns key figure.
But have the total returns key figure in the query and you will get to see the total returns as well.
    Hope it helps.
    regards.

  • Hide columns in database diagram

    Hello,
I have a question that is not specific related to Visio 2010, but I hope someone can help.
Is it possible to hide the columns in a database diagram ? Of course, I do not want to delete the columns, but only hide them.
    Thanks in advance, Best Regards,
    André.

    Hi,
As my experience, by the current Visio design, it's not possible to hide the columns in a database model diagram in Visio 2010.
    Hope this helps.

  • Reorder or hide columns when exporting

    Hello,
When woking with Reports and previewing it before sent to the client, may appear the desire to change the report before sanding.
by ex, one of our customers says: "This would be a nice extension of the column hiding & reordering capability, and would help with customers' requests that their reports come with certain data "eliminated."
I work mainly with the CrstalReports "ReportClass:ReportDocument" class.
Well, is there a possibility to hide some columns (when exporting)? To reorder them?
    thanks.

you could delete report fields and runtime without saving the report.
