Possible ways to connect SharePoint Office 365 to External databases

Hi,
Is there a way we can connect SharePoint Office 365 to Oracle & MySQL Databases and also is it possible for these databases to feed data to SharePoint Office 365 rather than SharePoint pulling the data from these databases.
Thanks

Hi,
As far as I know, it is not feasible to connect SharePoint Office 365 to Oracle & MySQL Databases by OOTB. But you can consider deploying the Business Connectivity Services (BCS) which can access data from WCF Data Services and SQL Server Azure Connectors.
Also you can consider three part tools.
For more information, you can have a look at the thread:

  • Can't connect to Office 365 mail account via Apple Mail (Exchange)

I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite, but had this problem before upgrading as well. I have an Office 365 mail account, but cannot sync it via Apple Mail. I went into my Apple Mail accounts and tried connecting my Office 365 account through the Exchange option, but it will not connect. From my knowledge, this is not an uncommon problem but it is very inconvenient. Is there any way to get around the glitch, or anything I should be doing differently? I do know a couple people with Office 365 accounts who have been able to make it work, but they apparently did not do anything differently when setting up their account.

Sometimes this issue is caused by a misconfiguration or incompatibility of the Exchange server, or perhaps by a bug in Mail. If so, you won't be able to resolve it yourself. The fact that your iOS devices may be working well with the same account isn't relevant, because iOS uses a completely different protocol (ActiveSync) to communicate with Exchange servers. By default, OS X Mail uses the EWS protocol.
Each of the following steps has been reported to help with Exchange issues, at least temporarily, in some cases:
    1. Back up all data. Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and check to make sure you don't have duplicate Exchange accounts. If you do, delete all but one of the duplicates. If there are no duplicates, delete the account and recreate it with the same settings.
    2. Rebuild the affected mailbox.
    3. Reindex messages.
    4. Follow the instructions in this support article to disable autodiscovery. You may need to get configuration details from the server administrator.
    5. In the Keychain Access application, delete the password item for the account. The next time Mail tries to access the account, you'll be prompted for the password. Check the box to save it in the Keychain.
    6. If you've created subfolders of the Exchange inbox, log in to the server through its web interface, move the messages out, and remove the subfolders. The inbox should have no subfolders.
    7. Synchronize with the server using IMAP rather than EWS. This is only possible if IMAP is enabled on the server.
    8. Consider using Outlook instead of Mail to access your Exchange mail.

  • SharePoint Office 365 development

We want to do some POC on SharePoint Office 365 development so that with same expertise later we can develop for our customer. Here I have few question on this:
Can we use SharePoint Office 365 development for Farm level deployment ?
Or SharePoint Office 365 is used exclusively for development of Apps ?
Is Napa tool necessary for Farm level solution? (I know it is required for Apps development)
Basically we want to develop farm solution not any apps, can we use SharePoint Office 365 for this?
Can we develop office 365 application in a virtual machine without any internet connection i.e. without connecting to the web or Microsoft online?

  • Server Essientials DashBoard wont connect to Office 365 / Exchange Tenant

We logged a ticket with Microsoft support nearly a month ago and to date still no solution.
Server essentials is connecting to Office 365, however isn't retrieving any user or exchange online information.
Exchange Online comes back as not available.  Have built a fresh DC, tried a different admin account, same problem.
Believe the problem is to do with the Exchange Online Tenant but the error is cryptic
This is the error we have found in the log

get psexec to run on the server (Tried under admin command and normal user command prompt, same result, under a domain admin account).
If anyone has any suggestions please let me now, is very frustrating for end users having to maintain 2 passwords (2k+ users).
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Cliff, I will investigate decommissioning essientials proir to adfs / dir sync.
It should be noted Essentials was working OK until Server Essentials was moved to another DC (Which according to MS is possible if the DCs are up to date).   Therefore I believe we have a cert / CA issue.
I don't believe the user amount is the cause of the current issue, it is a SSL connection issue with the Exchange Online Tenant, which is shown in the logs.
At this stage I'm not marking your answer as correct as I am looking for a solution to the SSL connection error.    In the event no one comes back with any information around how to resolve an SSL connection to the Exchange Online Tenant
/ How to force the Online tenant start a new connection with Essentials (e.g. On a cert level is my guess), I will then mark your answer as correct and move on.
I do agree that the user amount is not supported therefore will be going down the ADFS / DirSync route, but would like to resolve the Connection to the Exchange Online Tenant issue as it is clear that MS Support don't know how to, and may be helpful for
    others in this situation
Thank you Cliff for your input to date.

  • I can't seem to make a working profile to connect to office 365 on a windows 7 pc with only the mapi cdo runtime version 6.5.8320.0 installed using mfcmapi nor programmatically

    Hi,
I have been struggling with this for a few days now.
i have pc where no outlook is installed, where i installed the MAPI CDO Runtime may update (version 6.5.8320.0). i checked in the registry that the default mail provider was set to exchangemapi (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail) .. it is.
I downloaded the lastest version of mfcmapi, which i believe was the version of december 2013
but i can't seem to create a profile for office 365 in it. I followed http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dvespa/archive/2013/05/21/how-to-mfcmapi-create-mapi-profile-exchange-2013.aspx and then i changed the properties to what was proposed here http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dvespa/archive/2013/07/15/create-profile-connect-mfcmapi-to-office-365.aspx
That did not work, i keep getting an error one ore more properties are invalid when i try to use that created profile to connect to office 365 (from within mfcmapi).
I also changed some of those proposed values to what autodiscover was telling me like setting PR_PROFILE_RPC_AUTH_PACKAGE to RPC_C_AUTHN_ANONYMOUS which should be the value $8000F001 instead of RPC_C_AUTH_NONE (at least i think so)
I builded a simple program to encrypt my password using CryptProtectData and entered the value using mfcmapi in PR_PROFILE_AUTH_PASSWORD as was suggested in the last page.
but nothing seems to work, i keep getting wrong configured errors and i'm totally clueless atm. This is supposed to work right on a pc where outlook is not installed ?
I also tried this on another pc where outlook 2010 is installed and i am able to create the profile there and connect without a problem given that i enter the logon credentials once and let them be remember (they get stored / cached in the windows key store,
like when using CREDWRITE function) from then on i can connect without a problem.
also when calling configuremsgservice on the EMS service i created for a new profile in mfcmapi and let the UI show i can see on the pc where outlook is installed in the UI options to enter proxy information however when i do the same thing on the pc
where only the mapi cdo runtime is installed i do not see any UI option to configure the proxy server information ... is this normal ?
Hopefully someone can shed some light on what i'm doing wrong or might be wrong.
    Thanks in advance
    Willems Davy

The window would open and I would get the hourglass cursor suggesting something was happening, but the Apple home page (default from the install) would not load, nor would any other page I tried (google, yahoo, cnn).
Even though it's about a different application, I'd try the following document with that:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(Safari uses the same webkit engine to render web pages as iTunes uses to render the Store pages. So an issue that can cause the iTunes Store to blank can also cause a Safari for Windows application on the same PC to produce blank pages.)

  • Are there any POSSIBLE ways to connect/sync my iPod Touch 5G to my iTunes 10.6.3(25) on my MacBook running OSX 10.5.8?

So, I bit the bullet. I've always wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 5 from my existing iPhone 3Gs, before I do so, I sort of got the iPod Touch 5G first.
    Now to the main question,
"Is there any virtually possible way to connect my iPod Touch 5G 6.1.2 to my iTunes 10.6.3 running on my MacBook with OSX 10.5.8?!?"
I'm still lucky that my iPhone 3Gs still can run on 5.1.1 and sync nicely with my current mac, but I need a new phone. I already have a desktop workstation and I still do have all my data/etc on my laptop.
Or must I have to buy Snow Leopard (if it's still available) and upgrade my old Mac's OS to do so? If so, is it still worth while to purchase SL, or would it be abandoned very soon since it's also considered "old"? and getting a new laptop is quite expensive too as a solution.
    Regards,
    Vince

This works for 4G iPod and iOS 6. However, it may not work for the 5G because of the Lightning cable. The Lightning cable has active componets and thus it may need OSX 10.6.8 or later to work.

  • Cannot connect to Office 365 using Powershell on Windows 7 SP1

    Hi,
I was trying to connect to Office 365 using windows azure active directory module for Windows Powershell.
    $Cred = Get-Credential
    Connect-MsolService -Credential $cred
It failed on my windows 7 machine with the error
Connect-MsolService : Unable to authenticate your credentials. Make sure that your user name is
in the format: <username>@<domain>. If this issue persists, contact support.
This issue happened in Windows 7 SP1 OS.
But, when I tried the same thing on a Windows 2008 R2 VM, it connected successfully.
This means that the account I was trying to login does have the permissions.
Both the machines ( windows 7 and windows server 2008 R2) have the following pre-requisites installed:
Install Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39267
Windows Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell (64-bit version)
I checked for other settings needed for this to work at :
(Though these settings are for Windows 8, I have all these settings in Windows 7 as well)

  • Why don't some users have option File SharePoint/Office 365 Server Check In?

All team members have the same permissions in SharePoint. We can all check a doc out in SharePoint. Some of us then have an option on the File menu in Acrobat that says "SharePoint/Office 365 Server" with a "Check In" option under that. Some team members do not have that option.
How can we fix this so that everyone has the ability to easily check in an update to SharePoint?

    Hi Cheryl,
Check version of Acrobat of all users, it should be same and updated, i.e. 11.0.6

  • Trying to access SharePoint / Office 365 Server options from the browser

When I use the Open With Explorer view of a SharePoint library and open a document from there, I am prompted to Check Out & Open (or just open) the file.  And then from the open file, under the File menu, I have an option for SharePoint / Office 365 Server, to check the file back in and/or to update Document Properties.  This is the exact functionality I am looking for.  My question is, why don't I have this option when I open the PDF in one of these scenarios:
direct from the browser (within SharePoint)
    from a synced library
outside of SharePoint (i.e. from the Desktop)

Seems like a good question for a SharePoint user forum.

  • Office 365 Shared External Contacts - how do I delegate Edit and Update permissions to users

    Hello
Office 365 Shared External Contacts - how do I delegate Create/Update/Delete/Edit permissions to users who are not Admins? These Contacts are in the Global Address List. Not Outlook personal Contacts. O365 Small Business Premium

    Hi,
To grant users delegate permissions, open Outlook, go to FILE -> Info -> Account Settings -> Delegate Access -> Add -> Search and add the user, click OK -> Edit the permission of the user. We can set different permissions in the dropbox
    of Contacts.
There are four permisssions for Contacts:
    1. None
    2. Reviewer (can read items)
    3. Author (can read and create items)
    4. Editor (can read, create, and modify items)
Select the permission that you want to grant the user.
We can also modify the permission later in this section.
I hope the information is helpful, if I misunderstood anything, feel free to correct me and provide more detailed description of the question.

Autohosted Apps have been discontinued (or will be shortly).  You need to create it as a Provider Hosted App if you want to use server side code.  To do that you need to provision the remote web side of the app manually.  VS 2012 projects
are defaulted to an on-premises environment where the remote web can also be hosted on your local IIS instance.  That isn't possible in Office 365.  Take a look at the following blog for more info.

  • Can't create a new list in Sharepoint - Office 365

I am trying to connect to our intranet (Office 365) and create a new list and forms.

  • Visual Studio Community 2013 on Windows 8.1 pro - how can I develop for Sharepoint (Office 365)?

    Hello everybody from Italy.
As stated on the subject, I'd like to develop some solutions for my Office 365's SharePoint site.
I'm absolutely new to Visual Studio usage, too :-)
I downloaded and installed VS Community 2013 and SharePoint 2013 SDK (along with ... but still no luck, VS keeps saying that I need to have SharePoint installed locally in order to develop solutions for SharePoint.
    What now?
    F. Simonetti - UNIX Sysadmin - Sharepoint learner

    Ok, I managed to:
remove the "somewhat offending" custom list (I'll add it later after realizing what I was doing wrong)
create one custom list without any specific feature (I called it List1)
create another list based on Contacts, kept absolutely default (called List2)
    build&deploy the app
Ok, now the "app" is there (on my devel environment), doing absolutely nothing (because I didn't create any form or page or whatever). But I have a Contact list! I should be able to sync it to Outlook desktop!
This page helped me to understand how I can reach the list created inside the app (https://devtenant.sharepoint.com/AppName/Lists/List2)
... but I had a bad surprise: no option to sync the Contact list with my Outlook desktop application. This remains true even after having activated the "Offline Synchronization for External Lists" feature inside Site Settings/Site Features menu.
So, the Contact-like list inside the app has lost about 80% of interest... not being able to sync it with Outlook is a severe limitation. I'm assuming that every list created inside an app will suffer of the same problem, is it true?
By the way, how I'm supposed, after having eventually finished my work on the app, to install it on the "real" work environment, that is completely unrelated to the development site (being the "work" site a mere "Business
    Premium" Subscription)?
I tried to deploy the app to the "non devel" site with no luck: VS says that the destination site is not configured for sideloading apps.
    Many thanks in advance, Ashish.
