Post macro in LabView to generate multi-graphs

Hi,
I would like to ask how to link and use an Excel Macro in LabView 7.1 to generate multiple graphs in Excel 2000.
The most important thing is to be able to generate Excel-quality graphs in Excel without physically going through the ChartWizard procedure.
Thanks a lot. Any idea would be appreciated.

Mr. Liang,
There is an example that ships with LabVIEW that shows how to call a macro in Excel.  It is called Excel Macro Example.vi. There are also quite a few discussion forum threads on calling into Excel.
The Report Generation Toolkit also provides a lot of functionality for controlling Excel from LabVIEW.

  • How can I use Labview to create a graph of digital voltage signal vs. Time?

    I am measuring a digital voltage signal and I need to generate a graph vs. Time and be able to add user controls to start/stop the graphing and be able to export the graph to other programs such as MS Excel. Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    You probably want to use a chart. Place it inside a while loop that runs continuously. The chart should be in a case structure so it is bypassed depending on the boolean pause/continue switch.
    To save the data, get the "history data" of the chart via a propery node and save it to a file. It is probably easiest to save it to an ASCII file. Most other programs will be able to read it.
    See how far you get. If you get stuck, post your VI and we'll help you.

  • VLD-1119: Unable to generate Multi-table Insert statement for some or all t

    Hi All -
    I have a map in OWB 10.2.0.4 which is ending with following error: -
    VLD-1119: Unable to generate Multi-table Insert statement for some or all targets.*
    Multi-table insert statement cannot be generated for some or all of the targets due to upstream graphs of those targets are not identical on "active operators" such as "join".*
    The map is created with following logic in mind. Let me know if you need more info. Any directions are highly appreciated and many thanks for your inputs in advance: -
    I have two source tables say T1 and T2. There are full outer joined in a joiner and output of this joined is passed to an expression to evaluate values of columns based on
    business logic i.e. If T1 is available than take T1.C1 else take T2.C1 so on.
    A flag is also evaluated in the expression because these intermediate results needs to be joined to third source table say T3 with different condition.
    Based on value taken a flag is being set in the expression which is used in a splitter to get results in three intermediate tables based on flag value evaluated earlier.
    These three intermediate tables are all truncate insert and these are unioned to fill a final target table.
    Visually it is something like this: -
    T1 -- T3 -- JOINER1
    | -->Join1 (FULL OUTER) --> Expression -->SPLITTER -- JOINER2 UNION --> Target Table
    | JOINER3
    T2 --
    Please suggest.

    I verified that their is a limitation with the splitter operator which will not let you generate a multi split having more than 999 columns in all.
    I had to use two separate splitters to achieve what I was trying to do.
    So the situation is now: -
    Siource -> Split -> Split 1 -> Insert into table -> Union1---------Final tableA
    Siource -> Split -> Split 2 -> Insert into table -> Union1

  • Can not get example to work after following instructions given in "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" guide

    We explored using sbRIO for our project, for different reasons we ended up going with a different embedded solution . We are currently evaluating the LabVIEW C Generator to convert some of the core analysis routines from LabVIEW to C so the team that will be creating the embedded solution don't have to re-implement them from scratch.
    Before converting our code, I followed the instructions given in the "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" manual to create a static library created inCygwin using GNU Compiler Collection (GCC).
    I managed to compile the code, but when I type "run GCD.exe" in the Cygwin console, I just see the window flash with no time to see if the result is correct or not. I modified the main.c cde to add a getchar(), but the window still just flashes and now I am left with the GCD process still running and have to kill it using Windows Task Manager.
    Has anyone else got this example to run? I am sure I am missing an obvious setting or step, please help me.

    Hi Kevin,
    I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I am attaching a zip file with the LabVIEW project, my build specification and my version of "Greatest Common Divisor.vi", which should be the same as the one that you have that ships with the LabVIEW C Generator, but just in case. I am also attaching a zip file with the C files generated by the LabVIEW C Generator.
    You can also see the video I posted earlier with the steps I followed. I hope you are able to point out where I went wrong.

  • Hw can I generate XY graphs directly in a vector data format for printing ie pdf

    A further question re. Printing of Graphs
    There are many similar questions but none where the answers are acceptably adiquite or two or three were the link was broken,
    "Developer exchange forums have been moved" and a pointer to the new
    site, unfort it was hard to find or guess the rest of the link.
    So here is my angle on this problem;
    So far I have tried;
    Using property node: "App.  Printing.Default Printer" to select the printer to use, then
    Using Report Functions to print controls;
    New Report, to generate a new report reference
    Set Report Orientation
    Set Report Margins
    Set Report Font
    Set Report Header Text
    Set Report Font
    Set Report Footer Text
    loop for each page
    Set Report Footer Text,     With page number
    Append Control Image to Report,      several times
    New Report Page
    Until the end of the last page
    Print Report
    Dispose Report
    Initially using existing XY-Graph controls from the front panel.  These
    are on a page of a Tab control to hide these controls while not in use
    and allow them to be hidden while generating the printout.
    Unfortunately when this page is hidden any graph scales set to
    autoscale don't, (normally don't need to and would otherwise be a waste
    of processor time), resulting in graph plots going off scale or
    becoming a line along the axis.
    An issue is that what is printed appears to be read from the screen, so resolution is much
    lower than required for for printing, resulting in rather pixellated
    printed versions. These prints will usually be emailed, so tried the
    pdf995 "printer driver" but the resulting pdf file size is rather large.
     Currently trying Plot-XY on a much larger picture so as to get
    adequate resolution for printing, however suspect this will result in
    much larger pdf files and probably cause other problems.
    The preferred solution in this case will probably be to generate print
    output, instead of based on raster images (ie jpg or png), but on a
    vector format, maybe via postscript or directly in pdf format.
    Similar graphs currently printed from Excel via pdf995
    (or OpenOffice) result in files around 20 kb per page. these can be printed at any size
    (at least upto 64 times) without becoming pixellated, so assume these
    are vector based.
    Currently a page with 4 XY Graph controls uses around 40 to 45 kb per
    page but resolution is poor and overcoming that may push file size up
    to 150 to 200 kb per page, and the whole job can be 50 to 100 pages.
    Are there any functions to generate XY graphs directly in a vector data format preferably in pdf or via PostScript format.
    Cheers
    Darryl

    Hi Darryl,
    I was able to reproduce the issue you were seeing, in which a report generation was taking up a large amount of space per page in a PDF utility. I found; however, using my attached VI (notice that it is set to *.png) and the CutePDF utility (free download at http://www.cutepdf.com/) I was able to get a per page size of about 10 KB. Also using the png I found that the image quality seemed to be quite high.
    Please try incorporating this solution into your application and see if it reduces your file sizes.
    Thanks and have a good evening!

  • SVG Multi Graph/Chart with line and bar

    I have a request for a "Multi-Graph-Chart"
    showing both - line chart and
    - bar-chart with respective data.
    Can you provide for the sourcecode, which is behind the SVG chart wizard enabling us to develop an own/individual SVG chart ?
    pls kindly advise.
    Bernhard
    nb. I mailed u this request already - but thought this might be of interest to others as well.

    Marc
    I would support this addition to functionality. I currently have a client who has a requirement for complex charting in HTMLDB, and I am looking at the SVG packages in HTMLDB, ie: WWV_FLOW_SVG, but as you say they are not independent APIs and rely heaviliy on the application's metadata. This is a shame as I could quite easily handle a nice PL/SQL API that would let me create custom SVG, instead of generating the SVG manually and embedding that in the page.
    Cheers

  • "problem installing LabVIEW Interface Generator"

    Hello,
    I am running labview 7.1, windows xp sp2.
    I am interested in trying out the new labview interface generator, but something seems to be going wrong on installation.
    I download and run the executable, it unpackages a bunch of stuff pretty fast, then it starts unpackaging an "MDSPlus" package that takes a very long time (20 minutes). Then the MDSplus install wizard comes up, I press ok/next. Then another very long wait while it installs, then finally a message saying MDSplus installation complete, click close to exit which I do. Then that wizard goes away, as does the extracting zip dialog. No errors, everything seems fine.
    But then when I open labview, there is no change: same old tools under tools/instrumentation. There is no "interface generator" on the list produced by add/remove programs (top level or under National Instruments). The only thing added is MDSplus.
    Have attempted several times, rebooted, etc. Still no new tools.
    Thanks in advance
    TR Livesey
    Dynamic Signals LLC

    Hi TR:
    Thanks for your patience.   I think we (at NI) started barking up the wrong tree.  I went back to your original post and notice you said things like MDSplus, 20 minute install time, etc.   I'm wondering if this is something as simple as you are running the wrong installer.  The self-extracting archive file for the LabVIEW Interface Generator tool is named "driverctolv.exe".   Is this what you downloaded and are running?  If not, please go back to the web site:
    https://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nigb.guestbook?code=GB_INFOLVINSTDRIVER&lang=US&gb_prof_id=4982&scode=...
    Fill in the info again, select "Continue" to get to the next page.  If you are running Internet Explorer, right-click on the "Download the utility for LabVIEW 7.1" link and select "Save Target As...".  You should see the filename at this point.  Verify that it indeed has the name listed above.   After download then run the extracting archive.  The installer should take no more than a minute or two to install (no where near 20 minutes) and the dialogs should not indicate MDSplus.
    I did a few Google and other searches on MDSplus.  It seems that there are VI wrappers around MDSPlus libraries.  So, maybe you are also using this product separately?
    If, for some reason, you are indeed launching the driverctolv.exe and somehow the MDSplus installer is being launched, we really need to take a totally different approach to problem solving.  But, maybe you can confirm before we go down that path.
    Again, thanks for your patience.

  • Problems to generate a graph using 2 views as 2 curves

    Hello everybody
    Please help me fix this problem.
    Oracle 9i Database,reports-->graph wizard
    I have 2 views in the database named FR1,FR2 and these 2 views are nothing but snapshots of data from a single table WDATA for selected data .
         The views are like this
         FR1                         FR2
         NO number(10)                    NO number(10)
         VALUE number(10)               VALUE number(10)
         Each view has 20 records of data
    I need to generate a graph for the 2 views as 2 curves in graph for analysis with NO as X axis and VALUE as Y axis.
    |.::::.
    |
    |________
    But i couldn't manage to generate them.
    When i write a query in report wizard like this
    SELECT * FROM FR1 UNION SELECT * FROM FR2
    I get 40 records but as a single view thereby not possible to generate 2 curves..In this case i get 1 curve with 40 points.
    and if I say
    SELECT * FROM FR1,FR2
    I get 400 records as cartesian product of the 2 views which makes no sense.
    Some one out there please help me..
    Is my approach correct for generating graphs?
    i'm using 9iDS and 9i DB
    thanx in advance
    regards
    Jochen

    jochen,
    you need to join the two tables but use a where clause to prevent a cartesian product.
    so the following select should work
    select a.no, a.value, b.value
    from fr1 a, fr2 b
    where a.no = b.no

  • Generating multi-level xml in oracle

    Hi,
    I want to create a multi-level XML structure from oracle, is there a way?
    Presently oracle provides DBMS_XMLQUERY and XMLGEN package to generated XML structure given a query. But the structure so generated is of single level. That is say I use

    Regards,

    Milton,
    I was able to generate hierarchical XML from Oracle using object views and XML-SQL Utility (XSU).
    Here is a simplified version of my OR schema:
    /* Physical spec object */
    create or replace type physical_specifications_object as object (
    physical_specifications_id number(15),
    page_count number(10),
    product_id number(10),
    four_color_count number(10),
    two_color_count number(10),
    table_count number(10),
    binding_type varchar2(100),
    height varchar2(20),
    width varchar2(20)
    /* Market object */
    create or replace type market_object as object (
    market_id number(15),
    master_class_name varchar2(50),
    market_name varchar2(100),
    market_type varchar2(100),
    market_description varchar2(500),
    level_rank varchar2(15),
    market_code varchar2(100),
    product_id number(10)
    /* List of markets */
    create or replace type market_table as table of market_object;
    /* Market object view */
    create or replace view market_object_view of market_object
    with object identifier (market_id) as
    select mkt.market_id,
    class.master_class_name,
    mkt.market_name,
    mkt.market_type,
    mkt.market_description,
    prod_mkt.level_rank,
    mkt.market_code,
    p.product_id
    from market mkt,
    product p,
    product_market prod_mkt,
    master_class class
    where p.product_id = prod_mkt.product_id
    and prod_mkt.market_id = mkt.market_id
    and mkt.master_class_id = class.master_class_id(+);
    /* Feature object */
    create or replace type product_feature_object as object (
    feature_id number(15),
    feature_text varchar2(3500),
    feature_type varchar2(100)
    /* List of features */
    create or replace type product_feature_table as table of product_feature_object;
    /* Product object */
    create or replace type product_object as object (
    product_id number(10),
    title varchar2(150),
    media_type varchar2(20),
    standard_number varchar2(100),
    physical_specifications physical_specifications_object,
    markets market_table,
    product_features product_feature_table
    /* Product object view */
    create or replace view product_object_view of product_object
    with object identifier (product_id) as
    select p.product_id,
    p.title,
    p.media_type,
    p.standard_number,
    physical_specifications_object(spec.physical_specifications_id,
    spec.page_count,
    spec.product_id,
    spec.four_color_count,
    spec.two_color_count,
    spec.table_count,
    spec.binding_type,
    spec.height,
    spec.width),
    cast(multiset(select *
    from market_object_view mkt
    where mkt.product_id(+) = p.product_id) as market_table) as markets,
    cast(multiset(select f.feature_id, f.feature_text, f.feature_type
    from feature f
    where f.product_id = p.product_id) as product_feature_table) as product_features
    from product p,
    physical_specifications spec
    where p.product_id = spec.product_id(+)
    The objective is to generate XML for a product list with all the product subelements. The simple query "select * from product_object_view" when fed to the XML-SQL utility generates multi-level SQL. Note that Oracle 8i allows up to two level collection nesting in object types. Oracle 9i removes this limitation.

  • It is possible to generate the graphs based on policy that we set?

    As i found that the Cisco Service Control Application Reporter only have the template graphs like top ten bandwidth user, can we generate the graph based on the policy that we defined on the subscriber policies?

    The picture you see is simply a photograph of the original UltraSPARC T2 chip. You may be able to generate a layout of your own, but it will probably be different from ours.
    Sun released only the Source RTL (Register Transfer Level) code, and synthesis scripts for the processor. To generate a complete layout, you would need to:
    1. Synthesize all control blocks for the chip.
    2. Manually lay out all custom RAMs, and datapaths.
    3. Perform top-level floor-planning
    4. Do detailed place and route on control blocks
    5. Place & route the top-level chip.
    It's a lot of work and involves lots of expensive CAD tools.
