Post - migration Verification

I'm migration data from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g using import/export utilities.
After importing the dump, users like to check the data , such as table integrity.
Can we use DBMS_COMPARISON to take up ? If not, please recommend any procedure to do so.

So that to check / compare the objects from source to target, you are recommended to refer the export and import log files and ensure that the objects imported matches the one in the export log file.
I suggest followings :-
1. Just like previous post, compare their no of records.
2. Dump it out as txt format . On OS, diff them.
3. If some of records contain LOB-like stuffs , you must write a PL/SQL block to compare , such as DBMS_LOB read and write . Otherwise, Copy LOB to BFILE type and then make use of BFILENAME , UTL_FILE and DBMS_LOB packages.

Issue with post migration, from 11.1.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.1.5

Hi,
We are facing issues post migration issue in 11.1.1.1.5.
We are using JMS adapter with 3rd party Queues (IBM MQ). We are able to produce and consume the messages in 11.1.1.1.3. But, post migration to 11.1.1.1.5, we are able to only prouce the messages and not able to consume the same.
We use JMS message id as Correlation id.
Please assist us on this.

JET/DAO 3146 error on post migration

I had a urgent issue that held their development. I would appreciate if someone can help me on this.
I was trying to migrate access 97 database to Oracle database. Here is environment,
Access97
Oracle 8163
Microsoft ODBC for Access 4.00440302
Oracle ODBC for Oracle 81700
I had a problem in the post migration when WorkBench tried to update Access Database (to create the global link or
something like that). It failed with an ODBC error: JET/DAO error code: 3146, description: ODBC--call failed.
Does anyone know what does it mean on this error and what could have caused this?

We are currently looking into this issue. Looks as though it may be related to Office 2000.

Migration Verification with schemas changed

Does the migration verification tool supports this scenario ?
Source DataBase -
Target Database - with schema changed in some tables.
We have changed the schemas in some tables . Do we have any mechanism by which we can check the migration correctness. (May be by giving the mapping for fields between source and target tables).
Can this tool do this kind of verification .
We have both databases as Oracle only.
Alternatively - i have been working to develop the tool to do the same.
But the basic problem is that
how do we ensure that the rows we are checking(from source and target table) are related ones , so that we can check all the fields. We dont want to do m*n comparisons. Even after doing m*n comparisons, how do we ensure that we have checked the right row, because the same values can be same in a column for many rows, which will match.

There is a commercially available/generalized tool available to verify migrated data that permits the user/developer to specify the desired source to destination mappings between two databases with dissimilar schemas. The tool provides the ability to map source to destination fields, define the mappings between the fields, compare source to target records after the migration has been completed and to report on the results. The tool has been successfully used to test/validate results for FDA compliance as well as other mission critical requirements.

Post migration wrong IP

Transfer ID appeared to be successful, with the target taking over the name and IP of the source server. But after some problems and lots of hair pulling, I discovered that none of the OES services in Yast picked up the source IP. They still had the premigration target server IP. I've reset, but am still having problems with the cluster service. Is there anywhere else I need to check for the old IP? Thanks.

You may want to open an SR with Novell since you had problems with the post migration not changing the server name as well before.
I've not had it happen to me, but that doesn't mean it's not a bug somewhere.
Novell will probably want a supportconfig and the entire project directory log files as that'll contain the results of the changeip scripts and whatnot.
Perhaps you found a bug or there's something unique to your environment that's causing things to not work properly.

Trouble with Post Migration Scripts

The error says the pools or volumes that exists on the target server doesn't match with those on the source server.
Try updating them from nssmu or iManager.

E-Business Linux Post Migration Issues.

We have recently finished migration of one of our Release 12.1.1 instance from Solaris to linux 64 bit. We have been facing issues with the binaries not executing and relinking issues. FNDCPASS is not changing the password for oracle users or apps user. It says "concurrent request completed" and ends out. But doesn't change the password. I tried relinking the binaries using adadmin. but adrelink fails for BOM,WIP and FEM products. Following is the error that I get while relinking.

Migration to UCM11g: Profile rules get messed up post migration.

Hi,
We are trying to migrate from UCM10gR3 to UCM11g. We are facing problems when importing the content archive into ucm11g install.
Import failure happens due to wrong set of rules getting applied during the import, i.e. some inconsequential metadata fields becoming mandatory while fields that needs to become mandatory don't.
How do i debug the source of the problem. I have done the following until now.
Verified the CMU import from 10gR3 for errors, and everything seems to have come through fine. Did not see any issues there.
Post import, compared profile rules between 10gR3 to 11g, and they match line to line. I dont see any difference at all between 10gR3 and 11g.
Enabled profile tracing and compared the logs when checkin happens in 10gR3 and 11g, Rules getting initialized and activated as same other than the final import exception that we see in case of 11g. Following is the exception.

SampleApp error during post-installation verification

I am installing Liquid Data 8.1 SP2 on Platform 8.1 SP2 in a Windows environment.
Installation appears to run OK, but on 'Post-Installation Tasks' the following
error is displayed after Login to the SampleApp (as any user) ...
An error has occurred:

If you follow the steps to 'Configure the WebLogic Workshop IDE' you might get
the following error message later on when you try to create Liquid Data Java Controls:
"Schema compile error...
Error occured when compiling the target schemas of the selected query/queries
com.bea.ldi.server.common.MetaDataException: java.rmi.UnmarshalException: failed
to unmarshal class [Lcom.enosysmarkets.xmediator.server.common.Resource;; nested
exception is: java.io.StreamCorruptedException"
Go back and uncheck the 'Use Proxy Server' setting in the IDE Properties, reboot
the server and try again.

Lync 2010 Recurring meetings don't work post-migration when 2010 server is shut down

I've got an interesting issue here. I completed my Lync Server 2010 -> 2013 migration about 6 months ago, and everything has been going fine as far as I can tell. I left one of the servers up and running in the 2010 pool for a while. I finally decided
it was time to fully decommission Lync Server 2010, so I shut down my 2010 server. I did not delete from the topology just yet, in case something bad happened. Well, when I shut it down, I got reports from some users that they couldn't get into their Lync
Meetings.
The only conclusion I have been able to draw is that this happens for recurring meetings that were scheduled before the Lync Server 2013 migration. It seems that those meetings did not get migrated with the users. Does anyone have any guidance for this situation?
I'm guessing there's no way to actually move the meetings. At best, I'd like to simply be able to identify users who are in this situation and have them reschedule their meetings. I think there are few enough of them that we can handle that.

Post Migration from SP2010 -Attach File Button not working in any list new/edit forms

Hi,
We have migrated the SharePoint 2010 farm to Sharepoint 2013 on last saturday and we are noticing an interesting issue after the migration .
On any custom list on any web application ,When we create a new item,if we click on attach file button in the ribbon,nothing shows up on the screen.
In the browser Dev Tools its showing an error message as "Cannot read Property style of null".
This is happening on a javascript (form.debug.js) on line No : 5276
(document.getElementById("partAttachment")).style.display = "block";
There is no element rendered in html with id "partAttachment",which is causing this error to happen.
Solutions tried are
1) Modified the List Advanced Settings to disable and enable the attachments ,which did not work
2) Ran the Sharepoint Configuration wizard which did not fix
3)Tried reset the site definition for all pages in the site from site settings
4) Deactivated and activated all the activated features in the site collection
Its an OOB List New Form,no customizations has been done.
Similar error occurring with List Edit form as well
when you click on the List Item in the List default view when you navigate to the list and when you click on attach file,a popup dialog to upload attachments appearing,However its not working when you
navigate into the list item and tried to upload attachment.
Please help if any Solutions / thoughts

Method,we used is restored the content DB from SP2010 and attaching to SP2013 SQL Server
Site Collection is in 15 mode
It happens on new site collection even though its not migrated site.
Server is 16GB RAM 8Core Processor
If we create a new form from designer,attach file link is working
OOB New form.aspx is having List Form webpart
Custom New Form.aspx creaed with designer has data form webpart
if we create a new sharpoint site collection in 2010 mode,its working fine without any issues
Interestingly,all the javascript files loading were debug.js,Not sure how its loading all debug.js files

Iphoto wont open on new macbookpro post migration of library from powerbook

I recently purchased a macbookpro and transferred my data using migration assistant. now iphoto won't open, tells me to upgrade iphoto library. so i did that but the upgrade won't install. please help!

Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

OMWB Sybase Version ? to Oracle Version ? & Migration Verifer

The documentation states that OMWB will migrate schemas and data from Sybase 11 or 12 to Oracle. My question is what versions are covered? There is a considerable difference between the various version of Sybase 12. My extact migration plan would be move structures and data from a Sybase 12.5.2 server on Solaris 8 to an Oracle 10g R2 server on Solaris 10. I was planning to follow up the migration with the Migration Verifier, but I do not know if it can cover these versions.

12.5 is supported by the Oracle Migration Workbench so you should be fine with this.

10g Questions - Folder structure, Files, Post-migration Scripts

I have a few questions that I have encountered in my 10g installation process. I hope I could get some help from you.
1- After I have installed 10g (release 2) software AND Enterprise Manager (release 1), I have noticed the installation has arranged the folders under 'Oracle' differently in my Windows 2003 Server. For example, I have two 'oradata' folders; one (EM) is right under the root 'oracle'; the other one (10g) under 'product > 10g'.
We'd like to re-arrange those folders to make it consistent and make more sense. Would this re-arrangement of folders affect applying patches later? I assume the way the install arranges the folders is following the OFA. That's why I am afraid to re-arrange folders after the install.
2- Does one use p-file or sp-file to start a database? I understand one can create one from the other. Does using either make any difference? If so, how?
3- I was told that after the software is said and done, not only do we need to import our 8i datafiles, but also write some script for the user, grant, tablesspace to be migrated as well. Is writing script for those objects really necessary? Why can't the OUI take care of all that?

The issue with PFILE is that it must be available to the DBA running the STARTUP command - on that DBA's platform. If you have multiple DBAs and possibly permit remote administration, there is a danger that you will have several PFILEs that are not in sync.
Because of this, Oracle created the SPFILE concep. It ensures there is only one natural initialization file, and that file is under the control of the server. It can be backed up by RMAN, it can be used by RAC instances, etc.
After kicking and screamiung at the change, I have become quite happy using SPFILE only - except for those increasingly rare non-dynamic parameter changes.
