Any ideas?

Hi Bill,
   I read in the release notes that this update is suppose enhance operability with Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS. I guess they broke more than they fixed.
   It's weird that it runs the first time and then won't run again. That sort of sounds like it's not cleaning up as it shuts down. Is it crashing as it shuts down? See if you can find its temp files after you shut it down and see if it helps to delete them. To find the temp files, reboot, start and stop Photoshop and execute the following:
find -x / -newermt "4 minutes ago" 2>|/dev/null
That will find other log files but it should find you what you need. I also wonder if it could be a problem with their "phone home" utility but I don't know how to check on that.

  • Best approach for post-update (Oracle Forms equivalent) operations?

    Hi
    Having scanned all the available literature / blogs / forum posts I can find, I'm not sure of the correct way to proceed here, can anybody advise?
    I am planning to build a custom OAF page to update rows in a seeded Apps table.
    After any update via my page, I want to insert a message into a custom audit table, to record the event for reporting purposes. In Forms I would have used a POST-UPDATE trigger to do that, but there doesn't seem to be a direct equivalent in OAF.
    Here are the approaches I have considered
    1. Db trigger, or related approach. I don't want to do this on a seeded table.
    2. Create a pl/sql EO on the seeded table, use the pl/sql code to store the audit rows on update (this seems easiest to me ...).
    3. Use CallableStatement to create the rows in AM and call from CO (or EO?).
    4. Create java EOs for both the seeded table and the audit table, and implement the audit table update by manipulating the audit table EO.
    From all I have read, I believe #4 is the correct approach as pl/sql EOs are not recommended (except to leverage existing APIs), but it's not clear to me how to go about coding it, could somebody help me get started please?

    Step 4 - Once u get the value..set the same to the EOVO using setAttribute();
    Step 5 - Call this method before calling commit.
    Thanks Gyan, that's very helpful. I have a table with multiple updates, and I wasn't confident about how to identify the
    updated records to process them one by one, so after some more searching/experimentation I end up with this approach :
    1. Created an EO + EOVO for the Audit table (not sure VO actually required in this approach).
    2. Exposed the doDML method in the Seeded EO by clicking Data Manipulation Methods on the EO's 'Java' page.
    3. In the doDML method, I added code like this, which is called on every update : ( RequestsEO is the EO of the table being updated, MessagesEO is the audit table also being inserted into. )
           // Get New Message ID and instantiate a MessagesEO row.
           Number Id=Rtr.getSequenceValue("XX_MESSAGES_SEQ");
           NameValuePairs nvp = new NameValuePairs(new String[]{"LineId"},new Object[]{Id.toString()});
           MessagesEOImpl Msg = (MessagesEOImpl)getOADBTransaction().createEntityInstance("oracle.apps.xx.testaudit.server.MessagesEO",nvp);
           // Set various required fields in MessagesEO.
           Msg.setLineId(Id);
           Msg.setLineType("A");
           Msg.setSourceName("AUDITSREQ");
           Msg.setSourceId("1");
           // Build Audit message from fields in updated record.
           Number RequestId=getRequestId();
           String sRequestId=RequestId.toString();
           String sAttribute5=getAttribute5();
           Msg.setTextline("Updated Request ID [" +sRequestId + "] to [" +sAttribute5 + "].");
           // Update Request
           super.doDML(operation, e);
             I'm pretty happy with the result, but am I doing anything I "shouldn't" here?
    In particular, should I try to use VO and/or calling a method in the AM rather than coding direct in the EO?
    Thanks again

    Before Posting:
    Is your sound card not working? Do you need advice on what to try to fix it? Then you are at the right place. Before posting your question, there are a few things you will want to check first.
    Perhaps your question has already been asked and answered. Thousands of questions have been asked and are all stored here on the forums. Right above that orange navigation bar is the search bar, try searching for what you are experiencing. If there is a thread but it doesn't answer your question, check the date, if it is several weeks since the last reply it would be better to name a new thread then resurrect the dead thread.
    Also before posting collect as much information about your card as possible. Get the model number off of the card/device itself and also the inkstamp number (found on an inkstamp or silkscreen on the non-chip side of the card) if you have a sound card. Please note that if you have a card that was preinstalled in your computer by the manufacturer or you bought the card in a brown box or static bag that it is most likely an OEM card. In cases like these it may be best to contact the retailer or the manufacturer (don't forget to check their forums if they have them) for support as the cards can be very different from the retail versions.
    Lost CD, Need Drivers:
    Standalone drivers are available for many of our sound cards and devices on our website. The best way to check is to go to Support/Downloads and select your product from the list and click next. Then you select your Operating System from the drop box (keep the other options on their defaults) and click go. The very first section should be the driver listings. Just because a driver says that it is an update, doesn't mean that it isn't a standalone driver. The best way to check is to click on the details button and read the requirements section. If it doesn't say that it requires previous drivers then it is most likely stand alone and is worth installing. These standalone drivers usually include a configuration utility called "CTpanel.exe" that a quick search of your drive after install will locate. You can use this to set the card up.
    If your card does not list standalone drivers then you will want to contact support to obtain an install CD.
    If your card is OEM, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your system or the retailer you purchased it from for the install CD. There can be major differences between retail and OEM models and the retailer or manufacturer are provided with drivers specific to the card they are distributing.
    Standard Troubleshooting:
    If you are going to ask a question, there are a few standard troubleshooting steps that are suggested for almost any problem. You should really check them out before posting a question as it can save you a lot of time waiting on replies.
    First off, try a cleansweep and reinstall of your card. Often all that the card needs is a fresh start. The steps for this are found in these Knowledgebase articles:
    Uninstalling Sound Blaster Drivers and Applications(Windows Vista)
    Uninstalling Creative Disc Detector
    Uninstalling Sound Blaster PCI Cards
    Uninstalling PCMCIA Sound Blaster Devices in Windows XP
    Uninstalling ExpressCard Sound Blaster Devices in Windows XP
    If that doesn't work, not all is lost. There are many standard troubleshooting steps that are used for almost all problems. Fortunately we have a separate Kbase article that covers these steps. It even has suggestions for specific problems. Here is that link:
    http://support.creative.com/kb/showa....aspx?sid=2538
    Popping Clicking, Hissing, and Other Sound anomalies:
    Perhaps your question is about a popping, clicking, or hissing sound that your card seems to be generating. If so, then this article is for you. The sound optimization article:
    http://support.creative.com/kb/showa...aspx?sid=46913
    If Nothing Above Works:
    One last thing to try would be to clean boot your version of Windows. Perhaps an application is getting in the way of the card working correctly. Try it and see if the card works when clean booting into Windows. If so then something that is starting up is interfering with the card.

    Boston Acoustic Digital Speakers or Prebuilt System With a Digital Live! Card
    Some name brand systems shipped with a special Live! Value card that was made to work with digital speakers. If you system shipped with a Live! Value and you have digital speakers you will need to use drivers provided by your system manufacturer. If you use the drivers on the Creative website your card will no longer work with your digital speakers.
    If you have a set of Boston Acoustic digital speakers that came with your system and they are not working with your sound card, make sure you have it connected to the digital out on the card. Also make sure that the digital out is enabled.

    "Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies - 'God [darn] it, you've got to be kind."

    There's a small discussion on the Asus forums about this issue here:
    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20052602425373&board_id=&model=A8V&pa ge=&SLanguage=en-us
    I'm extremely certain this has nothing to do with Creative. I recently tried a Turtle Beach Riviera 5. sound card in my Asus A8V board with the same poor result. Onboard sound works fine as long as you remove the PCI card. Oddly, the four sound cards I've tried (three by Creative) work fine on the same MB using Windows 98. Only Windows XP has this issue, but since it works fine if you restart/wake up from standby/or hit F0 after entering the BIOS, it's obviously directly related to the BIOS.
    Since this problem has gone on for so long with no acknowledgment from Asus, I'm not very hopeful this will ever get fixed. I've considered trying an M-Audio Revolution 5. and see if that works, but I know it's a long shot. I'm also not sure if I want to risk close to $00 on a sound card that I figure has a 0% chance of working.
    (If ANYONE out there in the world has a sound card that works with games on an Asus A8V - please, please, pretty please post in this forum so we can all go out and get it!)
    It absolutely amazes me that a problem this significant slipped by Asus during their supposed "4,000 dedicated man hours" of testing!

    June 10 2012 Firefox automatically updated itself (no choice) on my Intel Mac/Tiger 10.4.11. I can no longer use Firefox. I have an old version of Firefox on my Mac G4, but am scared to use that machine in case that Firefox also automatically updates itself. How can I transfer a copy of that older version of Firefox (from the G4) to the Intel Mac, and how do I stop both versions from then automatically updating? How do I then remove the updated version of Firefox from the Intel Mac, which I cannot use? Thank you for your help.

    esqki FF update to 13 and now you can't open ? sorry about that.
    1. Download (with your safari) a copy of the latest (3.6.28) from your 10.4.11 mac
    from
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.28/mac/
    2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.
    3. Install the version that you have downloaded (3.6.28).
    Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.
    see also: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-mac?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Installing+Firefox+on+Mac Installing Firefox on Mac]
    after install the 3.6.28 version go to: Options > Advanced > Update tab > Firefox updates, check mark '''Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)''', click Ok to save it, exit firefox and restart it.

  • Facebook app cant post updates or images

    This is really weird & started a month or so ago after an iOS update.
    At home my iPod works fine & i have no issues.
    At my office, using the facebook app, I can not post a status update or comment on one - it just disappears.
    All other forms of messages work fine - it is only & specifically if i post a comment on facebook. (a facebook 'like' or priviate message is ok)
    I thought it must be something to do with the wi-fi - but after checking the router there are no weird settings, everything is just the default settings.
    Facebook on my office computer is fine (using same wi-fi), all other apps & internet stuff works fine on my iPod at the office too - its only this one 'status update' issue that doesnt work.
    Note: Using Safari on the iPod & m.facebook - i CAN post updates, so its just the FB app not working.
    What could this be?

    hi i need update to osx 10.4.11 intel core  and i think its tiger or lepard tha need updating anyone have idea

    Hard to understand that broken english.  If you are updating from 10.4 to 10.6, you can buy the update disc here
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA&mco=MTM3NDgwNzM
    It worked on my old macbook no problem.
    Intel core?  There really is no information at all in this question.

    I want to know if I am going to have to upgrade all graphic programs right away after buying new computer.
    Trying to weigh ALL costs involved.
    Thanks for any advice!!!

    Anything you have that is powerpc code only will not run on a new machine.  OS X 10.8 has no support for powerpc code (universal binary programs should be fine).
    Other than that warning, without knowing exactly what programs you have, and what version you are on, it is hard to say whay will or will not migrate alright.
    you might need to do some web searching and check apps at sites like roaringapps or on the programs Company web site.

  • Form persz - POST UPDATE event

    Hi,
    I need to call a plsql procedure if a certain item is updated in form i.e. say there is Company Name item. If it is updated I have to update the same in some other table. I can not do it using database trigger because of some other issue. So how can I do it using form personalization. Form persz event list does not have any post update Trigger event listed. It says "you can enter additional event name" but if I type POST-UPDATE then I can not pick anything in Trigger object.
    Please advise.
    thx,
    AppsDBA

    Hi Srini,
    Reason for not using custom trigger on base table is that the table is updated from many sources. We want to call the procedure only when it is updated by the form. Also, the actual data stored in the table different from what you enter in the form. Before it inserts/updates data in the table it does some conversion (say one way hash). So we have to capture the data at the form level before it is inserted into the table.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

  • No longer can connect to the internet after updating to 10.4.10 for Intel

    I (fortunately) use a cloning program (SuperDuper) to clone my MacBook Pro hard drive now and then on to an external Firewire hard drive... I say "fortunately" because after reading some of the problems folks were having with this most recent OS X update (10.4.10) I chose to update the cloned hard drive first before installing the update on the main drive... On or about 6/20 an update came out (that I can't find anymore so maybe they pulled it??) that was called "MacOSXUpd10.4.10IntelPatch.pkg". First I installed that update on my cloned drive... It booted and worked fine except that when I would try to communicate with the internet wirelessly, I could not... I didn't try a "wired" connection because I am not interested in connecting that way. The system would claim to connect to my wireless router (NetGear WGU624) but pages would time out before loading... Next I tried installing the newer (7/02) Combo package called "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10Intel.pkg" but that improved nothing. Still no useable wireless internet connection... So in no way will I be putting this 10.4.10 update (Patch or Combo) on my main drive until something gets fixed... In fact, I went ahead and overwrote what I had on the firewire drive by recloning my main drive (running under 10.4.9) to that firewire drive again... Once I got 10.4.9 reinstalled on that firewire drive, it again connected to the internet just fine... So my experience is that there is something not happy about either the Patch or the Combo updates for 10.4.10, at least as it relates to my Intel system... I also have a G4 PPC and on that machine, the PPC version of the 10.4.10 update worked just fine (though that is a wired connection, if that matters)... Anything I am missing or can someone offer other input other than not to upgrade at this time??? Thanks... Bob...

    Hello Robert:
    I infer from your post that you selected the updates to install, rather than using software update (IMHO a bad idea). At the moment, as I understand your post, your backup is not working properly and your internal HD has not been changed.
    I suggest this:
    Clone your HD to your external firewire drive (new copy, not an update of changed data.
    Then you have a clone in case someting goes wrong.
    Update your HD using software update. If everything is running well after that, you are OK. If not, you can restore your HD from the clone.
    The reason I favor using software update is that the system selects the proper software. When Apple releases updates, there are several versions available.
    If you know all this, forgive the explanation - I do not know your level of computer expertise.
    As an aside, there is nothing (that I am aware of) organically wrong with the OS X 10.4.10 update. Apple did release a 10.4.10 v1. update for the Intel boxes (I do not run Intel-based Macs, so I have not investigated it):

  • IPod not seen by windows or iTunes post update.

    I hate to be beating a dead horse. I have just read pages and pages of this BS. I had not updated it for months, because I have been way to busy. I added songs as recently as june 6th. I update today and poof no iPod?
    As I read down the other massive numbers of posts, I noticed no answer or resolve at that time?
    I am wondering if a definative answer actually ever occured. Since they locked that one up and threw away the key I had to start a new one here.
    Thanks,
    Rick
    P.S. - yes I have followed all the Apple troubleshooting tips and those found in the posts.

    I must say, for people running out to get anew iphone seems quite a bit ridiculous, considering Apple can't get this issue straightened out.
    Consider the following, there are literally hundred of thousands of posts on the internet reguarding this major issue. No clear answer or resolution?
    Even after: doing the 5 R's, and everything else Apple has listed, nothing works. Then moving on to microsoft for an answer that was linked on the Apple website, that fails to work. Apple passing the buck to microsoft, then microsoft has links passing the buck to Apple.
    The fact is Apple made it, it should work. Hard to beleive this is a state of the art company, that has used quauntum physics to help develop their chips and other resale to have a mishap like this one.
    In additon, a major company like this should not have a hiddiously slow website that is competition for the snail and Medussa herself.
