Posted in hardware: Reposting here-Anyone tried this 3000mAh battery case?
Hey guys, check this out.
I love my iPhone4 and compared with other phones Apple did a great job with battery life, but I'm a traveler and sometimes I take long runs without getting a chance to charge the phone. Looking into buying this battery case here: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/apple/iphone-4/mugen-power-3000mah-battery- case-for-apple-iphone4.html
Has anyone dealt with these guys before? I asked them questions on their Facebook, they seem legit.
I am currently running FCPX on my old Mac Pro (MacPro1,1) which doesn't have a GPU that's even close to spec. I haven't used it a lot but I haven't noticed it being especially sluggish.
I downloaded on my iMac and copied the file to my Mac Pro. Motion and Compressor are also fine - which is not to say that a future update won't break things but so far, so good.

Has anyone used this 3000mAh battery case?

Has anyone dealt with these guys before? I asked them questions on their Facebook, they seem legit. They have a 1500mAh case as well for 79$ http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/mugen-power-1500mah-battery-case-for-apple- iphone4-brown.html
The reason I want to go with Mugen is that they are present as a brand. I'm a little picky and if I get a bad case I'd want a replacement. In that case I can ask them on facebook about it or write to support.
Can you let me know any other case makers? I don't want to buy from ebay -
Has anyone tried this? AutoMailMerge Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat
Mail Merge in Acrobat 9 Professional?
Hi, All!
I have been told that I can perform a mail merge similar to MS Word from within Acrobat Pro 9. The main document (with merge type fields) needs to be an Acrobat .pdf. The data source can come from an external file. The key is that the merge is performed in Acrobat, not Word.
I have searched throughout Acrobat Pro 9 but have found no functionality that matches my needs. Can anyone help me with this?
I was informed the there is this outside company that has this "AutoMailMerge™ Plug-in for Adobe® Acrobat®"
http://www.evermap.com/automailmerge.asp
Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Will it do what I'm looking do?
Please help!
Thank you!

Has Anyone tried this new plug in WooWave Sync Pro?
Hi there
Has anyone tried this new plugin Woowave Sync pro?
They claim to offer better results than you can get with the built in synchronizing engine.
I downloaded the trial but can't figure out how to enable it in fcp.
I got this crappy footage.. hours of it and I really need something to sort it out , hate manual syncing
fcp tries and does some of it, but I got hours left unsynced.there are four episodes from MacBreak Studio avail for free, which explains MultiCam in FCPX

Have 1 POP3 email account I want to work like IMAP email in icloud (keeps my iMac, iPhone, ipad mail in sync). Apple suggested trying creating a new Apple ID just for that POP3 email. Has anyone tried this to see if it works and will delete/update across multiple devises? Would mean keeping up with two Apple ID accounts but only other alternative I know of is paying for monthly service for Microsoft 365.
would I be able to "upload" (not sure how else to say it) my existing folders and subfolders containing all my emails so that they are all available on my new IMAP service, while still being available on my Mac?
Not easily, no. There's no direct transfer option between POP and IMAP, especially across email providers. The best you could do would be to forward all of your emails to your new address, although it's not clear that you need to - dropping your sbcglobal.net account doesn't instantly render all your existing mail void - it'll still be in your Mail client, you can still read it, search it, etc., it just won't be on your provider's server.
I have toyed with the idea of getting a MobileMe account. Would that solve my issue/question above?
MobileMe would be viable, especially if you're interested in synching your various iOS devices. It's not free, of course, unlike Yahoo and Gmail, although you've already discounted them...
I have also toyed with purchasing my own URL, but it's hard to tell from the sites (1and1, Namecheap, etc.) if they come with IMAP email accounts included.
Some registrars offer email hosting bundles with a domain registration. This could be a good way to go. GoDaddy, for example, have a email hosting option for domains you register with them. -

No, not personally, but my favourite Apple reseller is my alma mater's computer store (alumni discounts!), where the techs have been using Kingston RAM for years, and said it was fine for my aluminium G4 pbook.

Monitor Spanning with macparts.de, anyone tried this?
Gang,
I am looking for a new desktop and I was thinking of a iMac G5 2.0GHz. But I really need 2 monitors and so I saw that this guy has this firmware update that allows multiple monitors on iBooks, iMacs and others.
I can see what he is doing but there is very little information on what can be done, resolution etc... I have a 19" Priceton LCD on my PowerBook I would like to use with the iMac.
Anyone used this? upsides? downsides?
THanks
GordonHi Gordon. I'm encouraged by your post. You clearly know more about this stuff than I do, but I'll try to lay out a couple facts as I know them.
The 'video out' port on the iMac is physically the same as on the 12" Powerbook. Ie. both Mini-DVI to VGA and Mini-DVI to DVI dongles that come with the PB (and neither of which come with the iMac - $20 each) will physically fit into the back of the iMac.
Apple offers the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter as an option for the iMac - same part number and everything.
The video card with Rev. B iMacs is the same card as low-end PowerMacs. Obviously it has software crippling to better-distinguish the two lines. Spanning Doctor should realize it's full potential - which as you say SHOULD be able to push out a DVI image as well as VGA.
My LCD is the same res. as yours (which is a stupid Microsoft-invented resolution that's not even close to 4:3). Some months back (when I was first researching my switch to Mac and before I bought my PB) I saw a page showing a Rev. A iMac spanning to a 17" LCD but they used a VGA-DVI converter because - according to that guy - the iMac could only output to VGA while his LCD was DVI only, so he had to convert. His claim that it's only VGA-out seems to stem from the Apple specs - but then those specs also say it can't span.
What are the conflicts that you've read about? Any specific posts I should read? I keep hoping some experienced Mac geek will come on and tell us that the software's great and it spans beautifully to DVI.
I'm confident that the video card on the Rev. B iMacs will easily push both monitors. My PB with half the VRAM (and a mid-grade 64mb card at that - the nVidia as opposed to the beefier Radeon that the 15" PB comes with that's also 64mb) is sufficient: expose and dashboard and other VRAM intensive tasks are fluid and lovely.
As for PowerMacs, I'd love one, but it is a lot more money. I spend most of my times overseas, so I need a Mac that can be carted around in a suitcase, so the iMacs size/feature ratio is a big bonus for me.
Hate to sound like a parroting prognosticator, but if you're even somewhat in the market for a PowerMac don't buy till after Sept. 20th (Paris Expo) when many believe they'll launch dual-dual PowerMacs.
Any thoughts about the matched-pair debate? I don't think I'd be satisifed with 1gb, 1.5gb is unmattched, and I wonder if 2gb is over-kill. I'm entirely unsure about the whole thing.
Anyway, I'm sad that since I'm selling my PB (with both dongles) I'll have to re-buy both VGA and DVI dongles for the iMac since I plan to also drag the iMac around as the ultimate Keynote Companion (I'm already dreaming of scanning my 'notes' pane on the much-bigger screen than 12" PB). Might look for a cheaper DVI-VGA adapter and just buy the one over-priced Apple adapter.
Keep me posted on what you're thinking!
Thanks,
Alex

But seriously, rejecting something like a solution to a dual-OS requirement because it is one day late is a little silly, isn't it? If it were a year, it's completely reasonable to go with the solution that's available, but that's hardly the case here.
There are many more problems with dual boot. Look at all the threads about NTFS vs. FAT file systems on the Windows side. I could not possibly consider using FAT as a primary Windows file system—it's vastly inferior. But the tradeoff as far as not being able write to the file system from the Mac side is a serious one.
With virutalization this quandary vanishes, since there are multiple file sharing paths. (Using VMware as an example, there's an internal file sharing mechanism as well as the usual SMB path.)
With virtualization, you can make the Mac the host operating system (again, a VMware concept) and give it direct network access. Then with Windows as the guest OS it sees the Internet as if a NAT firewall (part of the virtualization software) were in place betwen the Windows "hardware" and the 'net. This mitigates many of Windows' vulnerabilities.
And the simple fact that you can run both OSes simulataneously makes many things a lot less tedious and can make possible some things that would be impossible without virtualization.
Lastly, Wine is Open Source, something the Mac world seems not to be very aware of, being much more strongly oriented toward commercial (including shareware) and closed-source freeware.

I found this while browsing the web. I currently use a similar product on my p.c. call Lojack. Just wanted some feedback from anyone who has tried this product.
http://orbicule.com/undercover/faq.phpI installed this on my son's MacBook, being worried that he may lose/get stolen his computer at college. It installed easily and appears to be well-hidden. Of course, you won't really know if its any good until you need it. I read a review where they reported the laptop as 'stolen' and the software did a good job of showing where the laptop went.

The notice reads like I will receive my icloud emails in my icloud AND my me acc'ts. Double the amount of email? Also, I tried to set up the icloud acct in my mac mail preferences and it says the me acct is already set up. Why would I need 2 different email extensions if it's the same acct? This is weird. Has anybody tried this new icloud email?
You can use @icloud.com or @me.com to send and receive emails from. They share the same inbox. You won't get double the mail.
You don't setup an icloud email account in the mail preferences. They are automatically setup in system preferences >> icloud. You can choose which you are sending from when you're composing an email by click the drop down menu beside "from". You can chose the default in mail menu >> preferences >> composing. -

After GB has anyone tried this...
I found a increcible app that allows user to improve audio playback for music, GPS or any app that plaus audio but the one thing was that the app was GB only and most users on the site couldnt use it until the recent update... I just want to point users back to it because it is a nice app to check into and at this time it is still free.
The app is called Equilizer and it was posted at http://community.vzw.com/t5/Android-Apps/Improve-All-Audio-on-Device-Worth-Using/td-p/503686.... Check it out, it is really worth a look. Thanks Wilman! I installed it, which was much needed, because when you're listening to music in a car with 6x9s, 5x8s, and 2 10s all amped up, you kind of want some control over the EQ. Do you know if it works with Pandora? That would be SWEET!
PS - Wildman is more knowledgable than any VZW employee that I've ever talked to. No offense to VZW lol. I worked for Cingular customer service at the call center here for 2 1/2 years, so I know what goes on in a call center, and there is a high turnover rate. They're constantly training new people, and most people are NOT cut out for that kind of job. Even after 2 1/2 years I wanted to kill someone. It's a very boring, redundant, and stressful job. You have to recite the same lines hundreds of times a day, every day, and then every other caller is **bleep** at you for something you didn't do, and it's your job to calm them down and make them happy within your needs. Then you get that {word filter avoidance}
caller who calls every month wanting credit off of their bill because they have gotten away with it before and won't stop until they get what they want. Most people don't realize that EVERY time you call customer service, they notate your account with what happened, and the first thing the CSR does is look over those notes, so your little wanting credit scheme is ******** lol. I hope I didn't give up too much information into the secret society of customer service reps, I just kind of started to ramble.. lol
