Posting a chart created with Pages

I created a chart.
I want to post it on an internet board.
I see no way to convert this chart to jpeg, gif or anything else that is usable.
How do you add a chart created with Pages to an internet post or a blog?
Thank you in advance for any help.
I have trouble believing this can not be done.

It's not hidden.
We have two ways to create PDFs
(a) Print as PDF
(b) Share > Export > PDF.
If you enter the "Pages User Guide", which is available to all of us, and search for the intricate keyword "PDF" you will get (page 35)
You can also export Pages documents to Microsoft Word, PDF, Rich Text Format (RTF), and Plain Text. See “Exporting to Other Document Formats” on page 249 for details.

You can share your Pages documents across different platforms by exporting them to other formats, such as Microsoft Word, PDF, or plain text.
If the document you want to export is password-protected, the password protection is removed from Word, RTF, and plain text formats.
To export a document to another file format:
1 Choose Share > Export.
2 Choose a format for the document and click Next.
3 Type a new name for the document.
4 Choose where you want to save the document.
5 Click Export.
You can export a Pages document in these formats:
• PDF files can be created using an image quality of good, better, or best. When the image quality is set to best, the resolution of images isn’t scaled down. When the image quality is set to better, images are downsampled to 150 dpi. When the image quality is set to good, images are downsampled to 72 dpi. Images without an alpha channel are JPEG compressed with a compression level of 0.7 at the good setting and 0.9 at the better setting.
You can password-protect your PDF. To learn more about securing your document,
see “Password-Protecting Your Document” on page 35.
When you export a Pages document, hyperlinks are exported. Hyperlinks are
created in the PDF document for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email messages, and bookmarks.
The PDF file, which preserves font characters used in the document, can be viewed or printed in Preview, viewed or printed in Safari, and edited with a PDF application.
For the alternate way, it's not a feature dedicated to iWork but it's a component of the operating system so there is no reason to describe it in the application's help.

    Same problem here (no graphics in header or footer) and the problem has been reported months ago. It is another bug/feature lost when Apple moves from 09 to the iCloud-compatible versions.  Complain to Apple, you may have better chance than me and they may finally listen to their users....

    How can I get the iBook app on my Mac to backup ePubs I created with Pages on my iPad? Only seems to want to work with purchased books from the ibook store. The problem is, once I create a document in Pages and turn it into an ePub to be opened in iBooks, I delete the document in Pages, because I don't need two copies taking up space on my iPad. Before Maverick, iTunes would backup everything in my iBook app on my iPad. If something ever happened to my iPad, all of my created ePubs would be lost and I would be screwed. I suppose I could keep everything on Pages and go to iCloud and download my documents to my Mac, but that is a lot of steps. I may have to do that if there is no other way, but I am hoping someone will have the answer for me. Pretty disappointed in iBooks app for Mac at this point.

    iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.

  • No quicklook/preview for documents created with Pages 5.5!

    Before opening files and find you can hit the spacebar and have a preview of most of the file types.
    This always worked well with Pages until the newest version 5.5. Now I can only preview the files created with older versions of Pages.
    Every file created with the new version only shows the icon or a very blurred image but not a readable preview of the file itself like before. Even worse, if you change a file with Pages 5.5 you also can't see a preview any more.
    Apple's telephone hotline had no solution.
    Any idea for a solution would be very helpful as my DevonThink database also uses the preview feature and opening any file before being able to have a quick look on it is really annoying.
    Has anybody experienced this problem?

    There's no preview on iPad or iPhone either for these files. You can't see the content in DevonThink to go.

  • Converting Excel 2010 charts creates duplicate pages

    Anyone else have this problem?  I am using Microsoft Office 2010 and Acrobat Pro X
    1. Create a Microsoft Excel 2010 file, throw in some data, and create at least 2 charts (column, line, pie... doesn't matter)
    2. Select a chart and under the Chart Tools > Design tab, click "Move Chart Location" to move both of these charts to their own dedicated SHEET.
    3. You should now have two new tabs along the bottom for the charts.  Select both of the tabs by clicking the first tab, holding SHIFT, and clicking the second tab. *
    4. Go to the Acrobat tab and click "Create PDF."  Chart 1 and Chart 2 should already appear in the "Sheets in PDF" box, so go ahead and click "Convert to PDF"  You should end up with a 2 page PDF..... right?
    5. Hey Presto!  A 4 page document!  (Try this with THREE charts... you get a NINE page document.  Four charts?  You guessed it, 16 pages.)
    * NOTE: This problem only occurs if you select the tabs by the method described in Step 3.  If you select only ONE tab, and then select the worksheets using the Acrobat dialog box, it seems to work fine.  So, yeah, there is a workaround... but it seems like something that should work either way, right?

    I don't want to beat a dead horse here but... anyone have any insight on this?  Can anyone else duplicate this problem?  Is this a bug that might be fixed in the future?

    I want to create a book of family stories and end up with a hardcover (similar to what you can do with iphoto: however inserting text is very limited in iphoto)
    This book would be heavy on text ie., stories and augmented with photos.

    You need to print to or export to pdf, with some qualifications, pdfs from Pages may have issues with transparency and resolution.
    I don't know of any printers who use Pages as a core application, although in most cases it is the best method of output for Pages documents.
    Ask around for Printers who use Macs and who may have Pages installed. It is not expensive, so even if they don't have it, you could offer to pay them for the DL and install, as a practical measure. It would only be a relatively small percentage extra on a reasonal print run.

  • Printing problems with Pdf documents created with Pages

    I upgraded to Acrobat 8.0 recently and for some reason when I save a Pages document to pdf, within the print options then try and print, it prints blank.
    I have created other pdf documents which print OK, so the problem lies somewhere within Pages.
    I didn't have the problem with Acrobat 7.0
    ANy ideas

    When you say "Acrobat", do you mean Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro? Or do you mean Adobe Reader?
    If it is Adobe Acrobat, I would go to the preflight option and see what information you get there. But no, I have not had the problem myself.

  • How to modify line style on Line chart created with Numbers

    Line chart already created from Table but it's looks unexciting, a plain line with circles for data points.  I tried many ways to remove the 'circles' and to 'thicken' the lines and also to color it.  No luck!  With Numbers on iMac (the big machine), it was a piece of cake.   I read the online manual but couldn't find anything to help me out. 
    Help!

    There are around 800 Substance numbers and for each substance number there are around 10 IDtype. So It would be a costly processing.
    If there no other way doing it?
    I think, I need to follow this way as We can not determine the line number untill BDC is running.

  • Can't open documents created in Pages with macBook pro running maverick

    Hello,
    I just bought the new MacBook Pro and downloaded iWork.  Now when I create a document in Pages and save it to Documents, I can't open it.  I get an error messages saying a file is missing.  Also, all my old documents created with Pages that I transfered from my old MacBook won't open.  It says file too old, need to save to Pages 09. 
    Tried opening the old documents in Pages 08 and saving them, but still can't open them.
    Any suggestions?

    Further to my earlier post about this problem, our IT man came in to the office, by coincidence, so I grabbed him and it seems that he has cracked it.
    You need to proceed as follows :
    Select the document by single click on the icon (i.e. select it but don't double click which will try to open it.)
    Go to File Menu and chose "Get Info"
    Half way down the drop down menu, chose "Open with" then select Pages 4.0 (i.e. the iWorks 9 version)
    This process will open that particular iWorks 8 document.
    But, if you also tick the "Change All" box it means that opening with the new version of Pages will become the default and will apply to all iWork 8 documents so you should not need to bother with this ever again.
    So far, that seems to work.
    (One might have thought it would have been a good idea for Apple to have built this in as a default ?)

    iPhoto can't work with Pages documents so you must use a workaround described here many times.

  • Persistent "document was created with an earlier version of Pages" error

    Since I upgraded to Pages '08 (3.0.2), Pages always thinks that I have created my documents with an older version — even new documents created with Pages '08. As a result, I am frequently shown this message when trying to save a document:
    "This document was created with an earlier version of Pages. To maintain the ability to open the document with earlier versions, click Save As and choose an application version."
    The options are: Save As..., Cancel, Save.
    Any ideas on why this is happening, even when working with Pages '08 documents?
    This just occurred to me: Maybe my templates were not upgraded along with the app, so every time I create a "new" document with an old template (even the template "Blank"), my documents would be in the old document format. Thoughts?

    On my machines, an Applescript is launched every morning which install a clean set of preferences files for the most often used programs.
    Doing that, I am quite free of the kind of oddity which striked on your machine.

    create a subfolder named "safe_Prefs"
    Store in this folder clean duplicates of the preferences files subject to corruption.
    Save this script as an Application Bundle where you want.
    Why not in your Applications folder?
    Open the System Preferences Pane "Account"
    Click on the "Login" tab.
    Drag and drop the script's icon onto the window to add it to the list of login items.
    On every boot process, the script will be run so it will install the clean prefs.
    Of course, if you change something to the prefs and know that the file is clean,
    duplicate the new version to the safe_prefs folder.

    When i create a document on my Mac, and try to open it on my iPad I get a message "Document couldn't be imported." What is going on? I thought that iCloud was supposed to allow me to use Pages across all my Apple devices. Is this an iOS specific problem, or is it just a problem with iWork on iCloud problem?
    Is anyone having the same problem?

    I just upgraded to the most current version of Pages from Pages 08.  However, none of my files created with Pages 08 will open.  I am told that I first need to save them with Pages 09, but I don't have Pages 09.  What can I do to convert these files into a format that works with the newest Pages?

    I have the same problem. There are a couple of clumsy workarounds. One is to open your file with Pages 08 and export it as a Word document, then import it into Pages 5. The second one is to open the file in Pages 08, copy the contents to the clipboard and paste it into Pages 5.

    I just downloaded the new version of Pages 5.0, and I really don't like it, it makes taking notes in class harder for me, and I wanted to go back to the previous version, but the documents that I opened with Pages 5.0 I cannot open them anymore with the previous version of Pages. They're not documents that I created with Pages 5.0, I created them with the previous version.
    So I wanted to know if anyone can help me.

    Once you open and save older documents in Pages v5, they are now in a new Apple document format that is incompatible with the prior version of Pages. Pages v5 does have the ability to save documents in Pages ’09 v4 document format. Keeping track of document names by Pages version becomes enigmatic without a purposeful naming convention.
    If you had Pages ’09 v4.n in /Applications, it is now in /Applications/iWork, and you can still use it instead of Pages v5.
