POTENTIAL BOOTCAMP USER REQUIRES ASSISTANCE PLEASE

Thanks in advance for any answers to the following please
I am considering using bootcamp by installing a windows disc version of vista that i had on my now defunct dell inspiron 1721 laptop to use for the occasional use of windows only games
My questions being
1) Will the dell disc work on my imac? and if it doesnt what are the potential pitfalls of trying such an installation
2) Will i be able to also install a version of windows enterprise blue version 2007 that i also obtained for using on the above machine also?
3) Is it possible to buy an external hard drive and attempt the installation on that rather than directly onto the imac
apologies for being so cautious but having a trouble free imac for the last six months or so has been the best purchase i have ever made after almost ten years of windows nightmares!! and therefore would not want to put my mac at major risk for the sake of playing a few games via bootcamp and using the odd word document

Generally speaking it is wrong to use any Windows disk that was not purchased specifically for your Mac. I've seen warnings posted here over the years against using a Dell (or other same type) disk and I've also seen people post success. Try the search function. From my own knowledge, if you launch Boot Camp Assistant and follow the BC install directions with precision then you cannot possibly hurt your Mac installation. This is assuming of course that you don't lose the ability to boot to OSX in the first place - a very rare problem. Keep a Time Machine or other duplicate of your OSX install just in case. Anyway - if your Windows install fails, you simply boot to OSX, launch Boot Camp, erase the partition (Restore Disk To A Single Volume) and you are good as new. Beware, though, there are current unaddressed issues in BC regarding the downloading of MS install drivers that are only well-explained on this message board. You should read these boards thoroughly to understand them since Apple has not issued a fix yet (AFAIK). The short version is that when BC Assistant asks you to download a file to burn a CD, lie and say you have already done so. Then use your Apple OSX install DVD after your Windows install is ready for Apple drivers. For my own Windows install I purchased the OEM low-cost (no support) Vista disk. If you browse around on line regarding OEM useage, it is a bit a user-agreement gray zone leaning towards the vendor and purchaser seemingly in the clear (provided they stick to the OEM rules) (Just my own personal current ever-evolving understanding of things). OEM might be the better option - who knows if MS will officially activate your Dell install after all that work? Just sayin...

    CS2 was created for the Power PC processor which your old iMac obviously was.
    Your new Mac with OSX 10.9.5 is an Intel Mac and no longer runs Power PC applications.
    For several years after the transition from Power PC to Intel Apple had provided an emulator called Rosetta that allowed Intel Macs to run Power PC applications.
    However, the last version of the Mac OS that had Rosetta was OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
    Even if you could find a copy of OSX 10.6.8 it would be highly unlikely that it would ever install on a newer Mac due to different firmware versions.
    Your only hope is to buy an older used Mac that can run OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard or earlier.
    Sorry, but that ship has sailed.

    I am running FMIS4.5 on CentOS5.5
    FMIS is running and I can connect via Flash Media Encoder.
    Web displays and admin console :1111 gives xml output, however
    When using the user & password in my xml files to login (testing with ping), I get the "Admin user requires valid username and password" error.

    The value for SERVER.ADMIN_PASSWORD needs to be the encrypted string for your password. That should solve your problem.

So there is no feature to track login or logout details.  Most of our customers use some kind of central authentication Ex- SSO hence no need arises to have such functionality built in.  However if needed you have the ability to implement such at a project level solution. Ex:- custom login modules or auth-handler by taking project specific constraints and requirements into account

    Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this connection drop happens.

    What script do I need to additionally restrict both printing and saving if the required fields are empty?
     You would think that just setting that option would restrict those functions the same as it does for the email button. 
    Please be specific with your response if you are gracious enough to offer one. I have been searching the forum all morning for the answer to this and I really didn't understand any of the solutions offered to others enough to use those in my own form.
    The required fields are:
    Social (social security number)
    Name
    Headquarters
    Residence
    The next question I have is if there is a way to make individual signature fields mandatory if they are digital signatures?
     In other words, I don't want the individual to be able to email the form to the next person if he/she hasn't applied their digital signature.

    Saving can always be done, even when mandatory fields are empty.  This is by design.  And that is correct.  Suppose you have a big form and 2 people need to fill it out.  How can you fill out a first part and then send it to the second person without saving.
    Same for printing.  Same for your signature fields.
    What I would do, is to put a "watermark" on the form that you show on preSave and prePrint if the form is incomplete.  Just a static text on your form.  Then the user will see that they need to do more.  Also, on preSave and prePrint, you can show a warning popup to tell the user about the missing fields.  You can then still cancel their action if the user decides not to save/print anyway.

    Firstly I will say we are late with moving to Disco 10g, fully understood and constantly remind people of need to upgrade.
    Oracle Apps 11i instance, we have upgraded the database 10g.
    In Disco 4i Admin, Import folder from Database, we receive Error Message:
    *'This user requires Create Any Materialized View System Priviledge'*
    Have spoken to number of our DBA's but been unable to resolve this. I have read loads of stuff about similar issues, but no direct hits really help me.
    I am guessing we need to logon as SYSTEM db user and execute
    h5. SQL> grant create materialized view to <username>;
    h5. SQL> grant alter any materialized view to <username>;
    Please can anyone advise, I am sure it's going to be a DB/Schema owner, as the username; i.e. APPS or EUL_US?
    I cannot see it being the fnd_user for the Disco EUL owner, e.g. SYSADMIN or PatStock.

    Hi,
    If you are doing the import as SYSADMIN then you are connected as APPS so this is the database user that needs additional privilege.
    However, the APPS user only needs create materialized view privileges if there are manually created summary folders in the EUL, i.e. summary folders based on materialized views. If you are not using these then the privilege is not required.
    The EUL_US user just needs to give Discoverer Administrator privileges to the SYS_ADMIN user. Nothing else should be needed.

    Based on your business requirement ,  you should have the following set up :
    1.One Factory Calender  with Work Days Monday-to-Friday  Let say FC1 .This will be used on all the organisational level starting from Materials Planning to Sales  .But will not be assinge to Capacity Requirement Planning Purpose or Any Production Activity in Work Centre .
    2.You should have one more Factory Calander with work Days Monday to Monday ( 7 days week ) with some special rule like Plan Shutdown Days , Breakdown Maintainnece  etc  and this should be assinged to  all the work centres -CR02-Capacity Tab -Capacity Header -Factory Calader ID -Let say it is FC2.
    You need to ceate Calander in OP03/SCAL .It does nto have any transport and  it will be a Cleinet level changes  which requires proper approval .Please rememeber , you need to assing only FC1 to Plant assingement in OP03 where as FC2 will be asisnged only in Work Centre level  .
    Steps : Goto -OP03
      1.Identify all those Public Holidays frist with Fixed or moveable as per business requirement
      2.Goto Holiday Calander -Hit the pencil -Hit Create option -Enter ID , Description , Valid To/From Year ( shd be 20 yrs differnce )
       Add all those holidays as per Public holidays as applicable in your business  with proper valididty  and finally SAVE
    3.Goto Factory Calander -Hit the pencil -Hit Create option -Enter ID , Description , Valid To/From Year ( shd be 20 yrs differnce )
       Asisng Hioliday Calander . In case of FC2-Work centre Calander , here you can hit the Special Rules .Include Special Activity like Plan Shut down of factory with Validity  etc and SAVE .
    4.Come back to OP03 main screen -Assing the factory Calender in plant .
    5.Goto -CR02-Capacity -Capacity Header -Available Capacity Header -Factory Calander-Assing FC2
    I do not  think you should have planning calander seperately if you do not have any specific reason .

    Well, try this (I was able to fix my with these steps):
    Go Utilities > Disk Utility
    Select your Startup Disk, e.g. Macintosh HD
    Then, under the First Aid Tab, click Verify Disk Permissions.
    If there are errors, then click repair Disk Permissions.
    After it is done, restart the computer and see if your problem is resolved.

    I have written a procedure which creates a new workspace. The owner of the package has been granted apex_administrator_role. This works fine with SQL Developer/Plus.
    But when I try to use this procedure from my Apex page I get User requires ADMIN privilege to perform this operation.
    I understand that Apex makes a connection with APEX_PUBLIC_USER, and this can be one of the reasons of the error. But I would like to know if there is some solution:
    My code is:
          apex_instance_admin.add_workspace (
            p_workspace          => p_name,
            p_primary_schema     => p_name,
            p_additional_schemas => '');
      --p_name is passed as a parameter and workspace and primary_schema name are the sameHabib

    I think you will need to grant privleges to apex_instance_admin directly to the owner of the package.

    The privileges of the procedure's definer must be granted directly to the user, not granted through roles.

    well you would first want to identify needed reports capability of your user base. Then locate the current report base to see if some of the requests are already handled. The GAP could then be identified as a GAP in reporting Requirements. As you go through the reports requests you can identify needed data and fields. Then group that data into related items, or related functional needs.

    Just installed FMS2 on Debian (etch, 2.16.5-1 kernel). When I
    connect to localhost:1111/fms2_console.swf and get the infamous XML
    output which includes the text, "Admin user requires valid username
    and password." The *.xml and *.ini files haven't been touched after
    installation. All four daemons (fmsedge, fmsmaster, fmscore,
    fmsadmin) are running and listening on the correct ports.
    Any tips? (I'm sure this is easy to solve...)
