Power Manager 2.37 crash on Login (with callstack)

There are newer Power Manager versions available, the latest I think is 2.50. You should try installing a new one, to see if that solves the problem.

  • GNOME 3.16: Crash after login with GDM

    Hi all,
I've just upgraded to GNOME 3.16, but unfortunately it wasn't completely successful. After I login with GDM, I get the "Oh no! something has gone wrong" screen, with logout the only option. Funny thing is: when I press the super-key, I have a working GNOME shell. I can even start programs like nautilus and firefox. But the error screen is in my view.
The full log can be viewed here:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52318319/log.txt
    Notable things:
    - GNOME settings daemon crashes
    - After that nautilus
But I can't find any obvious solution in the log. Anyone who could help me here?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Power Manager features and other problems associated with the T510

For the better part of 5 years I've been a happy user of a IBM Z60m and decided it was time to pass my z60 off to my son and buy a new T510.  Well I after several weeks of ownership I can honestly say I'm irritated and frustrated by several ongoing issues and am ready to send the whole unit back.
From the time I pulled it out of the box I'm been having power management issues.  I've been on Microsoft's help forums, called lenovo support, and spent countless hours on blogs and forums looking for assistance.   No matter what I do in the lenovo power setting arrangements my computer aways goes in stanby after a minute of nonuse and then asks me for my windows password.  So after an entire day of inserting my password my frustration level is off the chart.  I removed the password in the user settings that didn't help.  I changed the global settings to turn off password in stanby mode that didn't help.  I've changed the power choice feature to optimize and others but none of that helped.
Beyond those problems... I inserting two different disks to insert new programs and my system kept telling me it couldn't read either.  I first thought they were scratch but my old ibm laptop read each without a problem.
    So there you have it.

Are you sure the system is going into standby after 1 minute?  Or is the screen being locked?
    Try this:
    1.  right-click on desktop and choose "personalize"
    2.  click on "screen saver" in the lower right corner
    3.  uncheck the box that says "On resume, display logon screen"
    Does that fix your issue?

  • Finder crash upon login with one account, better to copy files to new account or use Time Machine backup?

The finder crashes when I login to my old account. Briefly my problems started with iPhoto crashes and eventually to finder crashes. The finder would crash when I would try to transfer picture files from one directory to another.  I'd deleted com.apple.iPhoto.plist as well as com.apple.finder.plist but these did not help.  The crash is characterized by there being no menu items on the top left, but with dock icons which cannot however be clicked, and I can only resort to a hard reset to get back to the login window.  I created a new admin account -- this one works -- but cannot decide whether I should just transfer files from the old account to the new account (as described somewhere in the archived support) or whether I should "go back" in time to when the system was working well (about December 2012 was the last "good" Time Machine backup  -- I did a backup in February, but that was when I was already having problems).  I am afraid that if I transfer certain files (especially the picture files and iphoto files) to the new account, I might cause the same problem on the new account.  Any suggestion as to how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer files off the machine to a external storage drive and disconnect, that way you can do anything you like.
TimeMachine may fail to restore if your drive is corrupted and can't be easily verified if your data is truly on it or will restore.

  • How do I install a patch? (xfce4-power-manager tray icon patch)

Sorry if this is a stupid question or if the answer can be found elsewhere, but I googled and searched the forums and couldn't find any answers.
xfce4-power-manager had for the longest time had a tray icon showing battery status, and they recently decided to remove it in favor of a xfce-panel only icon. Bringing it back was requested on bugzilla and a patch was released.
But I really have no idea what to do with it. Can someone shine some light on this for me?

  • T430s Windows 8 Thinkvantage Power Management not working

    Hi!
On my t430s I can't get the Thinkvantag Power Manager working. Was someone succesful with this?
    Thanks!

    "Erm...how do I do that??"
Install Power Management driver. Download Lenovo Power Manager for Windows7 to desktop or wherever you want.
Right click the file > Properties > Compatibility > Windows7. Haven't tried it myself but it appears people with Windows
    8 say that it's working.
    T530: i7-3630QM, 4 GB DDR3-1600, NVS 5400M, 2x 500GB 7200RPM, 9-cell, HD+ 1600x900, Backlit US, WinXP Pro
    L430: i3-2370M, 4 GB DDR3-1600, HD 3000, 320GB 7200RPM, 6-cell, HD 1366 x 768, Win7 Home Premium 64-bit

  • Power Manager claims "Battery not installed"

System info:  T530, Windows 7 SP1, Power Manger 6.36, Power Managment driver 1.66
Following a suggestion in another thread (to solve a Power Manager/Windows Explorer crash), I upgraded to Power Manager 6.36/driver 1.66.  Now Power Manager claims (via taskbar icon and within the Power Manager app itself) "Battery not installed"
    Solution, please.

I'll try the download but I have a couple of concerns.  First, I upgraded to 6.32 in order to try and resolve another problem - Power Manager crashed when I tried execute a Windows Explorer "search"; it subsequently caused Windows Explorer to crash.  I'm not eager to just trade one problem for another.  Second, I need you to pass a message back up the management chain.
As a customer, it frustrates me immensely to have to try test-and-debug procedures which ought to be done by Lenovo QA personnel.  I would feel a bit more positive if I could be certain that Lenovo QA had configured a machine like mine and tried to reproduce the problem themselves.  It's bad enough that I'm spending hours - of "vacation", time, no less - to try and resolve Lenovo product defects, but worse, I'm not getting paid for it.  (And yes, I do happen to know what qualified senior QA engineers get paid.)

  • Power Manager crash with with Explorer searches

    Hi,
I had the same problem with ver. 6.07 repeating over and over again during last few days. It started when I switched the Explorer file search parameter from "search file names only" to "search file names and content" (Tools > Folder Options > Search > ...).
This morning I switched back to "search file names only" and  no crashes so far...

The steps to reproduce the error are those I outlined above; the issue reproduces on my equipment 100% of the time.  With the system booted and running normally:
    1)  Click the taskbar's 'Start' button.
    2)  In the 'Search programs and files' textbox, enter any two characters (e.g. 'ab')
    3)  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating that "Power Manager has stopped working...To search for an update that will resolve this issue, click Next..."
    4)  Click 'Next'.  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating "No update exists to resolve this problem."
    5)  Click 'OK'.  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating, "Lenovo is constantly working to improve driver and software quality.  Unfortunately, we did not identify a solution to this issue at this time.  It is recommended to send an Error Report to Microsoft to help track the resolution to this problem.  Click Next to report this problem
    6)  Click 'Next'.  A Windows Explorer dialog is displayed offering three options: a) 'Check online for a solution and restart the program', b) 'Restart the program', and c) 'Debug the program'.  There is also a 'View problem details' button.
    7)  Clicking the 'View problem details' button yields the following
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:                        APPCRASH
      Application Name:                             explorer.exe
      Application Version:                           6.1.7601.17567
      Application Timestamp:                     4d672ee4
      Fault Module Name:                          ntdll.dll
      Fault Module Version:                        6.1.7601.17725
      Fault Module Timestamp:                  4ec4aa8e
      Exception Code:                                  c0000005
      Exception Offset:                                000000000002b1ed
      OS Version:                                          6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
      Locale ID:                                             1033
      Additional Information 1:                  85ea
      Additional Information 2:                  85ea31b15d038786abb000c0d9d9269c
      Additional Information 3:                  b4bd
      Additional Information 4:                  b4bd3537dddea6bb1063e81566f4d641
Clicking the 'Check online for a solution and restart the program' yields no solution; it simply restarts Windows Exporer.
If you want someone to 'provide a crash dump', you'd be wise not to assume they have the requisite knowledge to perform such a task.

  • [SOLVED (sort of)]LXDE crashes from login manager, not from startx

Recently moved to arch and wanted to try out LXDE... Well, no luck so far.
I am able to start lxde with startx by commenting out everything else in xinitrc and leaving only this line :
    exec ck-launch-session startlxde
As I expected it should, gdm picked up LXDE and added it to it's menu after I installed it. When trying to load though, it crashes and brings me back to gdm. I figured it might be a problem with gdm, so I installed slim and used the very same line that worked with startx, only to get the same crash that brings me back to slim...
    lxde)
    exec ck-launch-session startlxde
Has anyone seen this problem before? I've digged around the internets and could not find an obvious solution.
    [SOLUTION]
Removing pcmanfm got rid of the bug that was causing the crash. Apparently it's all that can be done until the bug is fixed upstream.

I'm confused by the presentation of these logs. Obviously they contain the accumulated results from many different sessions. Can anyone make sense of this?

  • ThinkVantage Access Connections, Power Manager, and Toolbox all crash on startup

I have a SL 500 with factory Vista , updated to SP2 and the current versions of the thinkvantage components.
Access Connections has always been very buggy of this machine (I guess the battery monitor has been as well), When I attempted to update them this is where I ended up.
Also just installed new .net framework 4 as well.
    thanks for any help

  • T450 - Power Manager crashes after Sysprep

After Sysprepping a T450 with a clean Windows 7 64 bit Professional custom build, Lenovo Power Manager crashes with "An error occurred while loading resource DLL".   Followed by "There was a problem starting C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.DLL The Power Manager toolbar on the taskbar also will not load. Reinstalling Power Manager (latest version 6.67.5) resolves issue.  Reinstalling it immediately prior to Sysprep does NOT resolve the issue. Anyone else seen this?

Probably because the tools aren't added to the taskbar in "Default" user. Did you added the tools to the taskbar in Audit mode?
Though sysprep will not keep some settings. You may need to use `unattended.xml` to configure scripts to add those tools to the taskbar.
Just another question: does the PM tool appears in its factory state?

  • T430s not entering 30 Day Standby with Power Manager

I have a T430s with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit that is not entering 30 Day Standby like it should. The issue seems to lie with Power Manager.
Inside of Power Manager I have the 30 Day Standby option checked, just like I should, and it is also reflected in the BIOS setup as well. If I change the BIOS transition time for 30 Day Standby to "Immediately" and start Windows, but don't log in, and put the computer to sleep. It almost immediately wakes up and transitions into 30-day standby.
Now I know that Power Manager has a "hard coded" setting of 3 hours, regardless of the BIOS setting. So after 3 hours, Power Manager will automatically wake up the computer like it would to transfer to 30-day standby, but it just goes back to normal sleep.
Today while on battery, it did this twice (according to the Windows Event Log) Wake up, and go back to Sleep / Standby (S3). In the logs, the wake source is listed as "Unknown" when it goes back to sleep 10 or so seconds later is listed as "Application API".
Like I said, I was running on battery, and I also went into device manager and unchecked anything I could think of that would have an option of "Allow this device to wake the computer".  I also disabled the Wake-on-LAN option for the LAN card.  Plus I had all USB devices unplugged, as well as no Ethernet cable in the LAN port anyway.  Plus it does transition to the 30-Day standby if I force the computer to sleep at the login screen before Power Manager is loaded.
If anyone could help me get this resolved I'd really appreciate it!!
EDIT: I just wanted to add I should have all driver / software updates as of Dec. 1 or so. I'm running Power Manager 6.63.1 and Power Management Driver 1.67.4.4.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I could not reproduce any problem with the following configuration:
    T430s
    BIOS 2.57
    All BIOS default settings
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Power Management Driver 1.67.4.4
    Power Manager 6.63.1
I'm not sure what could cause this on your computer, but I would try the following things:
Load BIOS default settings (enter BIOS F1 Setup, press F9 to load defaults, F10 to save & exit)
Toggle the setting for 30 Day Standby in Power Manager.  Turn if off, reboot the computer, turn it on, reboot the computer.
By the way, you can actually change the 3-hour timer by modifying registry.  There just isn't any option for it in the Power Manager GUI.
    HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Lenovo\PWRMGRV\Data\ISSC
There's a value called "S3TimerForIFFS".  This is the number of minutes until 30 Day Standby Deep Sleep starts.  The default value is 180.  You can change it to any value 1 or greater.  This timer is not exact but should be within a few minutes.

  • T400 power manager crashing

We have an unattended install of xp on T400's which for the most part is working well except that when the powermanager is launched it crashes. Power manager is installed silently (after dotnet 3).  I have tried version 1 ,2, and 3 of dotnet fx, and changing the power manager install package with a new download all with the same results. I have even reinstalled the C++ runtimes. Still no joy. Here is what I get in the event manager when the application unexpectedly quits. Source: Runtime 2.0 error, EventID 1000, Description: Faulting application pwmuiaux.exe, version 1.0.0.0, stamp 49c6f31e, faulting module kernel32.dll..... any ideas?

  • Power managament / Graphical Login Manager / ...

    Hi all,
I'm new to arch, coming from ubuntu (which is a noob distro compared to this ).
    I have several questions:
I'm running arch (with fluxbox)  on a laptop and I wanted to place a wmpower  thingy in my slit.
Install was succesfull but when I ran the program, I got a message:
Cpu frequency scaling is not available
    No power management subsystem detected
    wmpower: No power management support...
I searched forums, installed acpi (pacman -s acpi ), put acpid in my daemon list but when I ran wmpower again cpu frequency is available but I still get this error.
    No power management subsystem detected
    wmpower: No power management support...
    What else should I install?
    Other question:
How can I install a graphical login manager, and when I'm logged in,  fluxbox must start ( startx has to be executed automatically).
Last question: Which file manager should I use, I find rox a bit simple imo, and konqueror is to much for me
    Thx in advance
    Greetz Daan

    Hi Daan,
Please see the wiki page regarding SpeedStep: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SpeedStep
There are links for AMD based systems on this page as well, but only the necessary modules differ from this explanation.
Briefly: Load the correct modules (add them to the modules array in /etc/rc.conf) for your CPU and install (and add it to the daemon section in /etc/rc.conf) cpufreq/another daemon to administer frequency scaling.
    nice regards

  • Power manager with my T400

    latest T400, vista 64bit
every time I start the computer, windows tells me, the power manager stop working.
I already update the power manager to the latest version.

thanks for being the very first one to reply! that's a very good question you ask, but unfortunately, the answer is no.
to clarify, a power gauge does appear when the computer is on battery, but it is not the thinkvantage power gauge; it is just the one that comes with windows xp. when i pull the power, i see only a blue battery bar in my system tray. the battery gauge i'm talking about is a green battery gauge that sits not in the system tray, but in the task bar (to the left of the system tray).
no windows xp update spoiled the functionality; i know this because i did not update windows xp at all between the time the gauge last showed up and the time it disappeared. what i did do was install a program called "shadowuser". i found it was causing problems, so i uninstalled it, but it seems the damage had been done. after uninstalling it, i uninstalled and reinstalled  thinkpad power management driver and thinkpad power manager, but the power gauge never came back. the other possible cause of the problem is that shortly after getting rid of shadowuser, i had to force reboot my computer by holding the power button. this is something i rarely have to do, but i had to do it in this case. i did a bit of searching and found that the power gauge disappears for some users if explorer.exe crashes, so this may be the problem. but if uninstalling and reinstalling won't fix the problem, what will? all my other programs (even those that shadowuser messed up) are working fine after shadowuser was uninstalled, or at least after the programs themselves were uninstalled and reinstalled. right now, i'm deeply regretting not imaging my hard drive while everything was working flawlessly. but must i pay the heavy price of reinstalling windows and all the other programs on my laptop because i mistakenly installed the trial of one program?
