Powerbook G4 thru Pioneer car radio

I am trying to hook my G4 thru my car(2004Scion XB) stereo (Pioneer T1201) so I can listen to iTunes radio via my car radio(with my Verizon Wireless card) as well as the 2007 Garmin GPS 18 system($200) which I will hook up to my laptop via a USB cable. It seems silly to order a $2000 dollar GPS StreetSmart unit and subscibe to XM or Sirrius for $$ each month plus the $200 receiver when I can enjoy my music I already have. Anyone else done this, or have an idea about adapting?
Thanks,
Pat

The power isn't a issue. I hooked up a 100w inverter containing a USB port for power. Computer taken care of. Now I have found a Pioneer IP-Bus adapter with RCA jacks. Installed in aux. port on back of radio. Now hooked up to computer via a set of Monster audio jack to RCA cables when I drive, listening to my music on my computer thru the car stereo. Now waiting on Garmin GPS with USB connection that will drive via my 15" screen all my GPS directions, and audio output of directions via the car stereo. The GPS is about the diameter of a aluminum soda can. Portable too. Very happy now. Thanks for your interest.

  • Static Noise through Pioneer Car Radio

I've found some threads about the static noise problem in the Ipod classics. I wonder if anyone has experience connecting the ipod to a sound system such as the Kenwood or Pioneer Avic-X3, the latter I now own. These car systems are state of the art, and one of the few systems who allow direct control over the ipod. I wanted the very best, so I specifically bought the Ipod for this purpose.
The problem is the audio quality because of static noise is simply terrible. Even if no music is playing there is a continues buzzing sound through the sound system (probably the HDD) which gets worse when you turn up the volume. turning off the EQ in the ipod makes no difference. Pioneer blames the Ipod, and by checking various threads it seems this is a genuine problem. What advise would you guys give me, is it worth raising this with Apple by going back to the store? I can't believe I spend more then 2000 Euros on this entire system and having this crap quality.

The Ipod classic didnt work on the Pioneer X3, you will get a ERROR A0 on your display .... the ipod video 5th version works great .... but not the classic,i bought the ipod classic ... and it dont work

  • Error 80 when using bluetooth on car radio

error 80 when using bluetooth on pioneer car radio with my iphone 4 and 5

me too...did some digging on the internet and appears Error -80 means the car deck is expecting some bluetooth protocols that your iPhones wont give out.  mine was intermittent for last couple years (deck is 12 years old) as of last night i just get error -80 everytime i try to dial out or recieve a call via bluetooth. this issue was intermittent with an iPhone 3G, 4, 4S, 5 and now my current 5S.  im blaming Pioneer not Apple for this
I ended up buying a new deck for my car...gets installed tomorrow.

  • How do I fix the compatibility issue between my iPhone 4S with iOS 7 and my Pioneer car stereo? There was no problem with iOS 6, but now I get a message saying "this device is not compatible" and so I can't use Netflix for example. How do I fix it?

This is a typical response from the manufacturer. Did you try the fix that Lawrence mentioned. When Apple or any other phone manufacturer update phone software, they have the latest Bluetooth installed. It is usually the problem with the radio manufacturer that they devices are using the older Bluetooth protocols. You can try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581 and see if anything there helps, but generally it requires the radio manufacturer to update their firmware.

  • Connecting ipod nano to car radio

i have 2 ipods ,one is one of the first ones made, wich i have played on my car radio ,just plug in the cable that charges ,and away, the second is a 3rd gen ipod nano, when i plug this into my car stereo jack it just says you must eject before disconnecting ,then the radio comes on and the ipod is at its normal screen, but cannot play thru car stereo, what can be wrong ?

are you sure you plugged it into the stereo jack??? because the ipod sees no difference in headphones and a car aux stereo jack to a car .... sounds like you are using something that plugs into a car lighter port... what device are you using to connect the ipod to your car?

  • Connect Iphone to car radio system

I try to find a way to connect my Iphone to my car radio. I wan to listen my mp3 and use my phone with the car radio system.
    annuaire et actualité

There are many ways to do this (I use the MonsterCable ipod adapter in rental cars, and the Pioneer Ipod Interface for my P7500DVDII) both with decent results. (great results if you turn on airplane mode). All GSM phones can effect stereo equipment to some degree, and the iphone is no exception. Alot of the 3rd party kits do not use shielded connections which just makes the problem that much more obvious. I found if I adjust the location of my phone in relation to the transmitter and the radio the Monster fm modulator gives satisfactory results without disabling my ability to recieve phone calls. The pioneer is the best, however I can't place the phone in the holder which was installed with the kit since it is in the DIN above the stereo (VW Jetta) and the phone constantly interferes with the amplification circuits. Moving the phone 3-4 inches fixes it.

  • Ipod Adapter for Pioneer Car Stereo

Hi there experts and wannabe experts.
I just got a new Pioneer car deck with a USB iPod connecter. When I connect my iPod (which is 4-5 years old) an error message appears. According to the manual, my Ipod is too old. So the good people at Pioneer want me to buy what appears to me to be an external drive that I would basically transfer all of my music over to. The price is around $130. This seems ridiculous to me and I am thinking there must be some other kind of adapter out there. I'd rather get a new Ipod than that dumb Pioneer dealie. BUT, it seems kinda stupid because we have two older Ipods with tons of memory and they both work great.
    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated!

You need to be more specific. If you're just looking for some kind of interface to work with a radio he/she already has, then I would need to know what kind of radio it is, or if it is a factory radio, I would need to know Make, model and year of the vehicle to give you some ideas. If you are looking for a new radio, then most of your aftermarket radio manufacturers make iPod compatible radios that simply need to have a cable added and you can plug an iPod directly into the new radio and control it with the radio. This allows text to be shown on the radio display as well as charges the iPod. I currently work with Alpine and Kenwood and both of them offer a full speed interface. Full speed is kind of important as some of the older interfaces were slow and cumbersome to operate.
Give me a little more info. and I'm sure I can help you out.

  • Ios7 v. car radio loses place

I use a 4s with my car radio.  With iOS6 I could start listening in the car, stop the car, start the car and the iphone would start playing in my car exactly where it left off.
Now with iOS7, stopping the car and then starting it again, the phone forgets what I was listening to and starts playing the same song it always plays when it forgets where it was.  This interferes with me listening to a playlist, jumping out to do errands, jumping back in and listening where I left off.  Each time the iphone loses connection with the car audio, I have to again select the playlist to listen to.  BTW...this happens with both of my vehicles.  It was never a problem with iOS6.
    Thanks in advance, C

I have a 4 year old JVC deck in one vehicle and a brand new Pioneer in another.  Both exhibit the same problem with the iphone which would indicate that it is the phone/iOs and not the audio decks.
    Thanks, Christopher

  • Cark-126 connections (esp. to car radio)

I am struggling to find wiring instructions for the Cark-126 car kit. Can anyone help?
In particular I want to wire it into my Car Radio (Pioneer KEH-P4830R in 1999 Honda Civic) so that:
    * I use the radio’s loudspeakers (ie. not the Cark’s speaker)
    * The radio mutes automatically (the radio does specifically support this)
    1. Do I need to buy any additional cables to do this? (ie. not already included in the car kit).
    2. If not how do I connect the kit’s control unit (HFU-4) to the radio?
    3. Where do I connect the Yellow (“radio mute”) core of the PCU-4 power cable?
    4. Is there anywhere I can still download / obtain the installation manual? (it’s no longer available on Nokia website)
    Thanks, Andrew

You will need to buy a mute interface to make the sound come through the car speakers, this will also provide power to the car kit & can be ordered with a cark-126 plug already on the lead, so it just plugs in. The pioneer radio will have a yellow wire on the back with a tag stating mute wire, connect this to the yellow on your car kit. I would not recommend you try and install this yourself because you can do a lot of damage if you dont know what you are doing, look in you phone book and find a specialist who can supply all the corect parts and fit it properly for you.

  • I get "Reading Error" when using USB connection from Ipod Touch to car radio. Any ideas?

I am trying to connect an IPOD Touch with my car radio via USB port.  Using proper cable which works.  When I connect the auto radio automatically tries to hook up with the Ipod but then displays "reading error"

The the car-system manyfacturer say it will work with your model iPod and its iOS?
    Not all do.

  • My iPhone 4 can not be read by my JVC car radio after upgrading to 5.0

My iPhone 4 has always worked with my jvc radio until I went to 5.0 radio just says cannot read and phone says cannot playI whish Apple would fix this problem.

I figured out my problem. When I upgraded to 5.0 my ITunes did not sync correctly so when I tried using it with my Jvc car radio it locked it. So I restored my iPhone and tried it again with no luck so I reset my radio and what do you know it works perfectly now. So if anybody else has had a similar problem try it before replacing your head unit.

  • Anyone else lose bluetooth connection with car radio since updating to IOS 6?

I've lost consistent connection between my iPhone 4S and car radio (Kenwood) ever since I upgraded to IOS 6.  This is apparantly happening to lots of people. I use this bluetooth for hands-free calling on my phone so I'm hoping Apple will come out with IOS 6.1 soon to address this software patch.  Others experiencing this with their phones and car stereo systems?

I'm having probems as well.  I can make calls and play music but I can only change songs on my iPhone 4S but not with the controls on the car.  I was able to do this before the upgrade.

  • I would like to take a iTunes play list and put it on a USB drive for my car radio to stay in my car. Is there a way to do this through iTunes so you have all the song info and there's no number in front of the name of the song? Is there a program?

I would like to take a iTunes play list and put it on a USB drive for my car radio to stay in my car. Is there a way to do this through iTunes so you have all the song info and there's no number in front of the name of the song? Is there a program?

iTunes only syncs to Apple devices.
Assuming the media is not DRM protected, any of the media can be dragged and dropped from iTunes onto other drives (external, flash, etc) as the user chooses.

  • ITunes automatically starts playing when iPhone 5 (w iOS 7.0.2) is connected to car radio via an Apple cable

I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, regardless it is the most recent update
When I plug my phone into my car radio's USB port (Apple cable, not knock off) iTunes starts to play the very first song in my large iTunes library.
I plug into the USB port to charge it and to connect the phone to radio in order to use hands free audio.
I have tried two or three different cables, it happens with all cables and again all are actual Apple cables.
I do not recall this happening with iOs 6 or at least as much.
With iOs 7 it happens every f***ing time. Extremely annoying and dangerous (I may get so frustrated by this that one day I might just smash the phone or the car radio :-) to the equipment.
I have to unlock my phone, go to iTunes and pause or stop the song/iTunes.
The app does not show as being open, that is why I have to go iTunes itself, the old fashioned way, so to speak.
It sometimes happens when I plug my headset in (also Apple brand, the basic ones that come with the iPad and iPhones) to phone and have tried the two different ones I have. It only seems to happen if my phone is not in use (i.e. I am on a call and switch to the headset it does not happen)
Interestingly this issue with the headphones and iTunes automatically starting happened more with iOS 6  and than with iOS 7. Ironically the opposite is true with the car radio, USB port cable, charging and iPhone — it rarely happened with iOS 6.0 but with iOS 7.0 it always happens.
I cannot seem to find a fix here but I do see I am not the only one with this annoying issue.
Please someone (APPLE!)  figure out a fix.
PS I have even considered NOT having any of my music on my phone — none at all —  which not only would solve the problem (I would hope!)  but be extremely inconvenient and defeating the purpose of only having an iPhone vs an iPhone and an iPod.
PPS -  I probably left out something really relevant, like what color is my car , so if I did, please let me know.

I have an iPhone 5 and every time I get into my car, as soon as my iPhone connects to the bluetooth or if I connect the USB cable, the music starts blaring through the car stereo, even if the radio was off. If I am using any of the navigation apps on my phone (google maps, waze, apple maps), and I happen to be lucky enough to have the voice directions working (that's consistently inconsistent), the music will frequently start by itself during navigation, even if I didn't turn the music on. Sometimes the music and navigation voice over will compete with each other at the same time. Sometimes they both go totally silent. Sometimes I'll hear only music. Sometimes only the voice directions. And if make or receive a phone call while the navigation is working, as soon as the phone call ends, the music will always take over again, even if I didn't have the music on prior to. I've checked and re-checked every setting on my phone, in my apps, in my car, and followed all of the suggestions I've found online (note to Apple - there are tons of posts on this topic), and nothing works.
It seems like there should be an easy software fix for this, or at the very least, options to:
prevent the music from starting automatically every time you connect with a cable or bluetooth (insanely annoying)
allow voice directions to temporarily mute music, should one choose to be listenting to music and navigating at the same time
just listen to voice direction - no music!
Better yet, how about just provide options to let the end-user decide when to listen to music.
For a product that is supposed to be "intuitively easly" and/or "just works", this level of dysfunction shouldn't be acceptable. Come on Apple - what are you doing to fix this???
