Preferences - Email Style

Hi folks,
How to default the Email Style for all user preferences.

Not sure what you mean - are you wanting to set an default email preference for all users ? If so, this can be done via the System Administration responsibility - see MOS Doc 564713.1 (How To Update 'Notification Style/Email Style' Under The Notification Preference For All The Users Globally .? ).

  • PDF Portfolio, email style

    Hello,
My boss has an easier time working with PDF portfolios when they are laid out in the way that portfolios appear after you have saved emails from Outlook (eg: list of files at the top with a full preview underneath), as opposed to the default layout when you create a portfolio  (eg: with the thumbnails at the bottom and a small preview above). Is there a way to arrive at the email style format without having saved the files from Outlook? Thank you.

    hope that helps

  • Prefererence- Notification- "Email Style"

How to set prefererence-> Notification->"Email Style" to HTML Mail with attachments , by default this value is coming as "disabled" to all users.
    Thanks, Avaneesh

    Hi Marty,
Thanks for the great info. My server does have McAfee virus scan on it, i would love if you can post the instructions to disable it.
Marty,  My client wants an automated process where the users can reset their own password. Do you know if the user password reset on the logon page is a automated process? Does the email with password go directly to the user or the email goes to the administrator and then the administrator has to reset the password?
I have read some documentation on help.sap.com and it looks like it sends an email to administrator and then the administrator resets their password. In the worst case scenario, i am thinking about decompiling the <b>umelogonbase.jar</b>.

  • LOST MY SETTINGS, PREFERENCES, EMAIL, PHOTOS, ETC. - HELP!!

Last night my computer was acting funny. So I restarted it. When I logged back into my account the first thing I noticed is that my Dock was back to it's default setting. Then I noticed the email was back to default, iPhoto, iTunes all back to default and all missing the files.
All my email is gone but all my applications, third-party software and files are still there. So I'm guessing my admin settings are gone.
After looking through the forum, I noticed that when this happens, it's usually because the HOME name has changed. This is not the case with me. The HOME name has not changed. What could be the reason for this loss?? How can I get all my settings, emails, photos and music back?? Will something like Disk Warrior fix this? (BTW, I'm not doing anything with the computer until I get some kind of feedback).
Thank You for your help in advance!

LESSON LEARNED. I Actually have a brand-spankin' new, unopened, still shrinkwrapped box of "Retrospect Backup" sitting right in front of me. I bought it six months ago.
Wow, how things could have been different if I had used it.
The full details of this nightmare are posted at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1070313&tstart=0
I still refuse to believe I lost all these files. This has to do with the library or permissions in some way.

  • Is there a way to revert to the old email style?

I have several email accounts loaded. The new setup shows me everything twice. Why? Then, it also rolls everything up into one. Why? They are separate email accounts for a reason.
So now when I open my email instead of seeing:
    email1: 5
    email2: <blank>
    email3: <blank>
    I see
    all: 5
    inbox1: 5
    inbox2: <blank>
    inbox3:<blank>
    email1: 5
    email2: <blank>
    email3: <blank>
This is seriously stupid. Do the developers or the development managers not think things through? Why would I need to see every mailbox twice?
I'm sure there are those who will love this new design for some reason, but please, let those of us who find it stupid and useless revert back to the old way.

I have no idea how you think
    account1
    account2
    account3
    account1
    account2
    account3
isn't duplicating information. I don't have unread emails anywhere but the inbox, so the numbers are always going to be the same. Maybe you do. We're not all you. We're not all me. It makes no sense to assume that we all work the same way. Giving the users a way to configure the apps is pretty obvious. Anyone who doesn't understand that shouldn't be developing software.
Another example is that they're forcing the Notes app to exchange the data with my email accounts instead of leaving it on the iPod, where I want it. It's picking an email account at random from my three listed accounts, and I have no configuration options to tell which account to use, or, to use none of them at all. The constant synchronization over the wifi is making the app unusable. Do you see why configuration is necessary?

  • 10.4.7 Lost all preferences, emails, iTunes Library etc

After a restart I appear to have lost all preferences in every programme (including system prefs) everything is behaving as if it's a first run.
Whilst not a major nightmare this is pretty far from convienient, all mail has vanished.
Anyone know why this has happened?
I am using an 2Ghz Intel Core Duo iMac, the only usual factor may be that I'm using FileVault - but should this really cause this?

    1. You wrote: "I didn't think even Admin could access other peoples user folders?
Anyway 0 in my case there is definately a red "no-go" sign on my other accounts user folder - I can't open it and I get the "insufficient priviliges" message if I try."If you check the Ownership & Permissions of the Users folder, you should find that the Group admin has Access of "Read & Write." So, an Admin user (administrator account) can open the Users folder. All Admin accounts should be part of the admin Group.
With an Admin account, you should also be able to open the Home folder of another account with Read Only access. It is the folders therein — Documents, Pictures, etc. that are retstricted.
It may be that the permissions on the affected account's Home folder are set incorrectly. Perform a Get Info on the affected account's Home folder (the one bearing that account's short name) and assure that the permissions for Others are "Read Only" in the Ownership & Permissions > Details panel of the Get Info window. If not, change them to Read Only and you should then be able to pick up the the instructions in "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4: FileVault - How to verify or repair a home directory image" at step 8.
    2. You wrote: "This is seeming more and more random - I'd quite like to know why it happened and where all my stuff has gone."If the directory of your FileVault-encrypted home folder (the .sparseimage file) is corrupted, then it can't be mounted properly and hence none of your files can be found.
    3. You wrote: "I had just installed 10.4.7 - is that a an issue? "I've not had any problems with 10.4.7, but I don't use FileVault. However, your post is the first I've seen involving FileVault and 10.4.7. I don't think it's a Mac OS X bug, but rather an issue with the directory of your encrypted account's .sparseimage.
Before installing software updates in the future, you may wish to consider the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ. Taking the steps therein before installing an update often helps avert problems and gives you a fallback position in case trouble arises.

  • HTML Email preference notification

    Hi all,
I have a issue where a user enables his Notifications Email style to HTML mail in the morning. The next morning it has been disabled.
I know that it cannot happen by itself, therefore something is happening in the back ground when his PC is off.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi Hussein,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, there are a few users of the same business unit that experience the same issue.
They set the email style to 'HTML mail' and click on apply. Then in the morning it has changed back to 'Disabled'.
I have followed the steps below of document 360541.1 and will test in the morning.
    1. However, for only the WF_LOCAL_ROLES table, do the following:
    2. As System Administrator Responsibility >> Define User >> query up user with issue:
    a. Remove the Person Field >> save.
    b. Re-query the same user >> add back the Person Field.
    c. Save >> have user log out/in >> retest.
d.This effort does an internal synchronization for the particular use.
    3. At this moment there is no way from the UI for the system administrator to change the notification preference for the FND_USER_PREFERENCES table.
    4. After this, the concurrent program Resend Failed Notifications can be used to resend those FAILED notifications.
    Kind Regards

  • Difference in email ids specified in preferences link

I wanted to understand the difference between the email ids specified in the links Preferences->General and Preferences->Notification schedule in Oracle 11g database enterprise manager. From the documentation I have seen, it appears that that the notification would not go unless the notification schedule is not defined and that the emails would go to the email ids specified in the notification schedule. So, it looks apparent that the email ids specified in Preferences->General would have no role.
I hope, my question is clear that there seems to be no use of the email ids specified in Preferences->General?
Please revert with the reply to my query.
    Regards

Not quite sure I follow but let me try to answer the best I can. In 11g, the Preferences -> email is the email address for each user (set per user). You then have the notification schedule, this is your users schedule of when notifications should be received or not. If you don't want to get emails between 10pm and 4am, you can make that change here. A Super User or SYSMAN acct also needs to set the SMTP info under Setup -> Notification Methods for email to work.
Then you get to the Notification Rules (Preferences -> Rules). You can either Create/Edit (if you have permissions) or Subscribe to an existing. If an administrator sets up a notification rule, a normal user can go in and subscribe to that rule to receive the email notifications (based on their email config and schedule above). Or if you're the owner of a notification rule, you can click the Email Me in the Actions tab of the rule, or assign another notification method (script, pl/sql, etc)... Notifications will only be sent to those users who's email is correct and schedule is enabled for that time.
    Does this clarify?

  • Importing Preferences/Styles in Captivate 5

I have a template that uses specific styles  and preferences - it's working well, with a few bugs reported to the Bugs line.
However, if I start a project by using "Record new project", the Preferences and Styles revert to the defaults.  Recording this way is a very easy way for me to do my projects - I record a Custom and a Training project, then copy the slides to the main one - but not if I have to go through each slide and change the caption style, etc. each time.
Is there a way I can change the defaults, or force the Record New Project to use the correct Preferences and Styles?  Using the Settings button doesn't help, because the correct Styles haven't been imported, so it doesn't recognize them.

I'm replying to my own question to add some more to it.
I've learned that I can import Styles and Preferences to an existing project, and that I can set the defaults for new projects by changing each default style individually.  However, I don't seem to be able to import a styles set to be used as the default for future projects.
Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?  I have a number of developers who all need to use the same settings, and it would be SO much easier if I could send them Styles and Prefetrences files to be used as the default for future work.

  • How to deal with tiny text size on the display, especially in email?

I got a Macbook a week ago. I have been using a Windows laptop for about 5 years. Before that I had a couple of Mac desktops.
All in all I am very happy with the Macbook. I haven't had any of the problems which have come up in these forums, unexpected shutdown, bad DVD drives, etc. One thing I love about mine which I had not seen mentioned before I got it is that the Macbook (or mine anyway) is absolutely whisper quiet. I cannot hear the hard drive doing anything. My Dell laptop sounds like a construction site in comparison.
The main issue that is vexing me has to do with the high-res, small-size display. The combination of those two factors means that the text size onscreen is often so small that even with reading glasses I have serious eyestrain.
Back on my Dell this was a lot easier to deal with. In Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, there are very simple settings in the menus to make text sizes better. And this is really important -- those text sizes are remembered after you close and restart the program.
So far as I can tell, that is not true (in general) on the Mac. I find this shocking, since Apple makes such a big deal about the simplicity and usability of the Mac.
Specifically, in Safari I went into preferences and reset the fonts. A little more complicated than in Internet Explorer but it basically works alright.
With Apple Mail, though, it is really troublesome. There is no remember-able setting to increase the text size for viewing (that I can find). And the on-screen size of 12 point text in an incoming email in Apple Mail is just absurdly small. It makes me wonder if Apple is taking bribes from the American Opthalmology Association. This is going to ruin my eyesite pronto.
Of course I can hit Command-+ several times when viewing each email to increase the text size to a readable size. But what a pain.
Is there a way to make those settings rememberable?
Otherwise I like Apple Mail. But I really prefer not to have to hit 6 keystrokes when looking at each email just to get it to a reasonable size.
I looked at the help files for Mozilla Thunderbird. They seem to indicate that program works the same way.
How about Eudora? Any others? Any suggestions much appreciated.
    thanks

Hi Jeff, thanks for your careful attention and your comment.
But I have to point out you've missed what I'm talking about.
In OE, in the View menu (right on the menu bar, not under Tools>Options) there is a setting called "Text Size" which allows you to set the text size for viewing and composing (independent of sending). That makes it very easy to make the text easier to read on small screens. It does not "change the appearance of the formatted text so that it no longer corresponds to the intent of the sender". It merely makes the text bigger or smaller, like a magnifying glass.
Via email I had some back and forth today with another poster here discussing this. You might be interested to see the email he sent me in which he included both Helvetica 12 and Helvetica 14. I took a screenshot of the email he sent me (from Apple Mail). When I read this email in Apple Mail with the "Message Font" set to Arial 18 (which is the size I need it set at for readability), Helvetica 14 is displayed at a smaller size than Helvetica 12.
    screenshot here: http://www.pbase.com/paulduke/image/64910338/original
    That's weird.
Here's a test I did, and this is what really matters to me.
I sent two emails from Windows/Outlook Express. For one I set the default composing font to Arial 12. For the other I set the default composing font to Arial 18.
When I downloaded and read these emails in Apple Mail, sure enough, the Arial 18 font appears much bigger than the font in the Arial 12 mail.
Then I did the reverse. I set the "Message Font" in Apple Mail prefs to Arial 12. Sent an email.
Then I changed the "Message Font" to Arial 18 in prefs and sent another email.
Then I downloaded both these emails into Outlook Express.
On OE, font size is displayed exactly the same in both emails.
So that's good -- I know that Apple Mail, whatever the setting in "Message Font", is sending some sort of "standard" font size. (By the way, I have Apple Mail set to send Rich Text Format mail). My correspondent tells me that Apple Mail doesn't send "true" HTML mail, and Outlook Express does, so perhaps that explains this.
Okay, no big deal. But if I were a graphic designer and I wanted to know for sure that my carefully crafted email styles were getting through, I might be going bonkers because of this.
But I'm not a graphic designer, and for the moment my concerns are assuaged.
And I accept the wisdom of your advice to "go native". I'm trying, I'm trying...

  • Data from check boxes fails to be collected, when sending the PDF as email

    Hi
I am working on an interactive PDF that should act as an ordersheet for clients to fill out. I am using Acrobat Pro 9, and everything works as intended, but when the client tries to send the order by email (By pressing a button that uses "submit a form" as actio, where it sends the whole PDF to a single email), the pdf pops up in the email client, and everything looks fine, except all of the checkboxes. None of them have been checked, even though the client have done so. I have searched the forums without luck, so now i am trying in here.
I have made sure that the client is using the version, that has the extended reader rights.
If you feel need additional information regarding the PDF, just ask.
Thank you very much for your time.

Edit>Preferences>Email accounts>List of email accounts. Click the drop-down that says "add account" and select Gmail. After adding it, you can go to the account area and change it to default.

  • Email client problem with 11.0.3

I recently upgraded to Reader 11.0.3 and evertime I lauch the application I get an error message along the lines: "This application has failed to start because GAPI32.dll was not found.  Re-intalling the application may fix this problem", followed by "Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot fulfil the messaging request.  Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I am running Windows XP SP3 with Outlook 2000 as the default mail client and have gone through the MS fix for missing GAPI32.  The point is, I DO NOT want Reader to email anything for me at any time.  I prefer to go into Outlook, prepare an email and attach a PDF.   Reader works okay but I am getting pretty cheesed off with having to OK the two error boxes everytime I open a PDF.
Can I just remove the email facility from Reader?   In Edit|Preferences Email Accounts, I get "Default Mail Application (Microsoft Outlook)" but the delete button is greyed out.

Timcarson1 in general the error message you received is accurate.  Have you tried applying the update under a local administrator account to see if you face the same difficulty?  If not then please work with your computer department to allow this test to occur.

  • How can I email over 200 notes from my Apple Mail to that of a friend?

I helped someone recreate all their notes to work in Apple Mail and now simply need to get the notes from my Mac to their Mac. More details below. Thanks in advance. I've searched extensively on a solution to this and haven't found anything.
    - Garth
Dragging/dropping all the notes into a new email doesn't work.
Seems like I can attach to an email a single note at a time, but there are related issues:
-- The resulting attachments have an email-style icon which I find a little strange.
-- If I try to open such a sample note attachment in my draft email, it sometimes works (showing a proper, yellow note), it sometimes gives me a "Mail was unable to save the attachment..." error, and it sometimes opens it in a raw text format showing all the related codes/data.
-- At one point, I edited a note I had attached to a draft email and the attachment automatically appeared in my notes list even though I hadn't dropped it in there.
I don't see any other export option. "Archiving" isn't like exporting - it removes them from my Reminders/Notes view and archives them (for me) on a remote GMail server, it seems.
I don't know what to make of the "Forward" option -- it takes all the text from all the notes and drops it into the body of a single email. Is there a way for that to be rebuilt into individual notes for the recipient?
I don't have to use an iOS device for this, do I? I can if needed. I don't see a quick way to email many notes off my iphone to the recipient's email address. (I have iCloud; the recipient does not - they're doing all syncing via USB cable only.)

I assume this is a 1st gen and not the newer models (black box). In any case it is not meant to be used as a storage device and thus no easy way to retrieve
