Preferences in CS3

In Dreamweaver 8 the the img tag would have a closing / I
can't find where or what I need to change so that it will do that
by default again. The same with setting the border of images that
are links to "0" by default. I keep forgetting to set the border
attribute because I am so used to having it inserted by
Dreamweaver. I am using doc type XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

When you do FILE | New, what doctype is shown as selected in
the list on the
lower right of that panel?
Also, what happens to that <img> tag if you open this
page, and then do FILE
| Convert > XHTML 1.0 Transitional?

  • Where Preferences for CS3 Bridge Stored?

Where are the CS3 Bridge preferences stored OSX 10.5?
    I want to trash them.
Is this it: User> Library> Preferences:
    com.adobe.bridge2.plist

    GB
The plist file should be situated in the user-library - preference folder: com.adobe.bridge2.plist
The main cache folder is in the same library in the cache folder: cache - Adobe- Bridge CS3 - Cache. If you manual trash both the plist and cache and restart bridge both files should renew them selves to fresh settings.
However, deleting cache destroys also all prior cache so you need to rebuild again for every folder you have cached before.
Further more it is not that easy to find a preference file, at least I don't know. There is an other place with Bridge settings in the user library under Application Support - Adobe - Bridge CS3 but not a preference folder.
In the system library are also some Bridge settingfiles and for real mystery you should select the Bridge application Icon itself in the application folder, use right mouse click and select show package content. In here there are a whole lot of settings that I really don't know anything of, due to the fact that I'm a photographer and not a technician... :-)
If you have now plist file you probably would be better off with a re install from the CS3 disk

  • Loading personal preferences in CS3

    Hi:
I'm using InDesign CS3. I've been having a preferences annoyance for some time now.
I have my workspace and InDesign preferences set to my wishes, however when I work on a file that another designer created the preferences are obviously different. As this doesn't effect my workspace, it effects my InDesign preferences. I would prefer not resetting the Type, composition, Units & Increments, etc. everytime I work on someone else's file. Is there any way to load the preferences I've set in a way similar to loading a workspace?
    Thanks,
    JP

Run the script with the document open. It will then change the prefs for that document. If you are working on a lot of supplied files that you want to change the prefs for it will save some time to run the script on each file before you begin editing it.
This is pretty basic, but cut and paste into Applescript and then modify as needed and it will work.

  • Transferring PDF, Print and Preferences from CS3 to CS4

I have just upgraded from CS3 to CS4 (all in Windows) and wonder if it is possible to transfer the preferences, export-to-PDF and print settings in CS3 to CS4. Just askin.

  • Is there a way to move my keyboard shortcuts and preferences from CS3 to CS5?

I just loaded CS5 and I'm starting to work with it. Big difference from CS3 and I'm finding things don't work the same at all. Anything i can do to make this seem more familiar, like using the same keyboard shortcuts and workspaces?

Workspaces are stored as XML files in your user profile on Windows or the user library on Mac, in a subfolder called, strangely enough, workspaces.
You may have run afoul of the new "content grabber" in the center of a frame that allows you to move the content without changing tools. Looks sort of like a dounut, or the center spot on some SLR camera focus viewfinders. You'll either love it or hate it, and it can be switched on or off in the View menu.

Not many here (including me) use Elements and even less can understand crash reports.
    Can you confirm that:
-The folder containing jpeg files are viewable in the finder and can be opened in PSCS3?
-You did give Bridge the time to let it cache its contents?
-You have installed Bridge to the application folder, in the user library cache folder there is a folder called Adobe, inhere there should be a folder called Bridge CS3 and this one contains a folder called cache?
I would suggest that you quit Bridge and move this folder manually to the trash. This will be replaced with a fresh folder after restarting Bridge.
Point Bridge to the folder and first let it cache its contents and then try again with the find option. Could you report back on this?

  • Location of DW CS3 files on a Mac

I am running Dreamweaver CS3 on a Mac Pro running OSX 10.4
Tiger. I am about to upgrade to 10.5 Leopard and I want to do a
clean install of all my CS3 products. I will have a full backup of
my HD and I want to copy all my preferences for CS3 software back
to my Mac Pro after Leopard has been installed. Where does OSX
stuff the preferences, etc. for DW, PS & Fireworks?

Not really a pain, since DW exports them batch-wise.

  • CS3 Saving Files Error

    It must be a bug:
When I make changes to a FLA, save and close, these changes
are not actually saved. So, when I open the file again the changes
are not there so I have to re-do them. I have figured a way around
this bug, and that is by instead or normal saving (cmd+S) I do Save
As (cmd+shift+S) and save with the same name and overwrite.
I have all the latest software updates. It is quite
frustrating because if I come back to the file and do other changes
and export it makes it seem like I didn't do the previous changes.
I am using a MAC. Has anyone encountered thiss? Is there a
real fix instead of my cheap work-around?
    Thank you

I was on the phone with Adobe support concerning this issue
and all I had to do was:
    Delete the following file:
    User > Library > Preferences >
    Flash CS3 Preferences
    Rename this folder:
    User > Library > Application Support > Adobe >
    Flash CS3 > en >
    Configuration
    to
    Configuration Old
It's all working fine, for now. If the problem re-appears I
was advised to reinstall the program

  • ACR 4.4.1 does not open TIF file from bridge (CS3)

    Hi,
I have the preferences in CS3-Bridge and ACR set to open JPG & TIF files in ACR and not CS3 but when I click on a TIF file in bridge it opens in PS CS3 instead. These TIF files were generated by a GUI interface for ENFUSE which is an algorythm that combines bracketed RAW or JPG exposures for expanded dynamic range... it works very well ad outputs to TIF... but I can't seem to open these TIFs in ACR. Isn't a TIF a TIF?
Is there a way to force ACR to open these?

There are many varieties of TIF files (including b/w fax images).
I have no idea if this will work, but you could try opening one of the files in Photoshop, saving as a TIF from Photoshop, and then see if that new TIF file will open in ACR. At least it should let you know of opening of TIF/JPG files in Camera Raw is working correctly.

  • CS3 crashes when accessing Prefs Performance

Out of the blue CS3 extended is crashing when I try to access the preferences/performance menu.
I've reset the preferences during startup which did absolutely nothing. It still crashed.
Running windows Vista w 2 gig of ram.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Ron

Clarification and update: My problem was only that when I selected <Edit> <Preferences> <Performance>, CS3 would close with an error message stating the program had encountered an error and would close. I did not have any performance (slowing down) with CS3 at any time.<br /><br />I also have a laptop running XP Pro with CS3 and the same EYE ONE software. The laptop did not exhibit this problem. I uninstalled the ASUS ATI Video Driver and reinstalled it on the Vista machine. CS3 is now working ok. Through the Color Management utility in the Vista Control Panel, I was able to select my previously created monitor profile and CS3 continues to function properly.<br /><br />So for my situation, it appears that running the monitor profile software in a Vista environment with the ASUS ATI video driver causes CS3 to malfunction. Who knows why but at least I now know how to work around it. I would guess that others who are having problems with the CS3 Performance Preferences have a similar OS/Video Driver/CS3 conflict.

  • Cores,  how many are supported by After FX CS3 on win vista?

    Hi folks,
do you know how many cores are supported by after fx CS3?
I am able to use a dual xeon quadcore workstation with 8 cores and 24 GB Ram for my diploma, but I don't know if this hardware is supported by CS3?
It is the Xeon 5355 Quad Core 2,67 Ghz on dual 771 socket mainboard from Tyan. The OS is Win Vista Premium 64bit.
Does anyone of you have further information if this is doable?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Roman

Each instance of AE can only access a maximum of 4 GB of RAM (on Vista64). With the "Render multiple frames simultaneously" option in the preferences, AE CS3 and later can start several hidden copies of itself in the background, which can each address that maxmium amount of RAM, so your machine would ideally use 5 processor cores (5 x 4 = 20 GB and leave 4 GB for the OS.)
In CS4 you can set the number of cores to use, in CS3 you have to do it via a text file, detailed in this post:
    i http://generalspecialist.com/2007/02/troubleshooting-after-effects-7.asp (look for "MaxNumberOfProcesses")
PS. On OS X, each instance can address 3.5 GB and on Windows XP and Windows Vista 2 GB (or 3 GB if you are adventurous:

  • Unable to reset preferences

I have been searching the forums..I think what I need to do is reset my preferences in CS3 (Vista 64). Most of the tools are not workinng or I am not getting the drop down menus on the tools. When I try holding down Shft-Ctrl+Alt while loading PS3 I don't get any messages about resetting my preferences. I have held them down before I click the program, at exactly the same time I click the program and every way I can think of at least 20 times. Any advice??

Use the other method mentioned int the FAQ linked below, ie deleting or renaming the files.

  • Why can't I open my jpg?

So I have CS3 still on my Macbook Pro. I just bought a new Macbook Pro and after loading the CS3 on there it is giving me trouble opening jpg files that I created in Photoshop on the other laptop. It keeps giving me a pop up below any time I try to open the file. If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know. I am in desperate need to have this fixed ASAP as I am using Photoshop on a Freelance project right now.

Check your file handling Preferences in CS3. Make them identical to CC 2014.
These are my jpeg save settings. Or you can try Save for Web.
Thirdly, you can convert those jpegs in CS3 to tiffs. There's even a batch converter in Photoshop for that.
File > Scripts > Image Processor.   Place all the jpegs in one folder and have the Image processor output them as tiffs in another folder.
Bring the tiff folder over to your new mac and Batch convert them back to jpegs in CC 2014's Image Processor.

  • Title Window is minimized and I can't edit it??

    Hi there guys,
    System: MacIntosh (Intel)
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS4
This is a newb question, however it's a problem I can't seem to fix and it's buggin me. As you can see in the picture i've added, the window for editing the title is extremely small, and therefore I can't edit it. How can I make the window viewable again. And while I'm at it, (if you look at the picture again) my "Properties" bar is not nested or "docked" within the Title maker, is there a way to reverse this?
    Thanks in advance.
    [email protected]

    Hi John,
Thanks for the reply, I tried using Cmd+alt+shift and Ctrl+alt+shift and both did not work, the title window is still barely viewable. Do you know of any other way of doing this?
    However I found this
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331083.html
    To reset preferences
    Windows
    CS3  Hold Control down
    CS2 hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift
    MacIntosh
    CS3 Hold Option
    CS2 Hold Cmd+Option+Shift
However as i've mentionned before im using CS4...
    This link http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/311/311231.html
says to delete the Preference cache, yet I can't find it in the System files or through a Finder search (basically a search for all the Windows people)

  • Need to use 16GB Ram for Rendering

Hello everyone, i have 2 x 3GB Quad Core 16GB RAM. i am trying to use my full memory or at least 10GB of memory for rendering in After Effects. Any help will be very much appreciated. Whenever i render it shows i am using 3GB of RAM (default), but i really need to use more RAM to have shorter rendering time. please help. thanks

    Giuliana,
On Mac OS X, each AE process can use 3.0 GB of RAM. By turning on "Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously" in the Preferences (in CS3 or CS4) AE can start hidden copies of itself to use more processors to render more than one frame at a time.
Each such hidden process can use 3 GB, so with 10 GB of RAM I'd recommend you use only 3 processors. In CS4 you can tell AE only to use 3 processors, in CS3 you have to edit a text file, as outlined here:
    ihttp://generalspecialist.com/2007/02/troubleshooting-after-effects-7.asp
When all 8 cores try to render a complex or memory intensive composition with Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously, the application can become memory starved if each process has insufficient memory. If you have less than 2 GB of available RAM per CPU core, your hard drive will be used as temporary RAM which is at least 100 times slower than real RAM.
To remedy this, there is a text preference in the preference file to control the maximum number of cores that Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously will use.
Open the text preference file and look in the ["MP"] section for:
    i "MaxNumberOfProcesses" = "0"
"0" is the default setting, which means that all available CPU cores will be used. Calculate how much RAM you have available for After Effects (don't count the RAM used by your operating system.) If you have 8 cores and 8 GB of free RAM, change the setting to "4" so that 4 CPU cores will be used and so they will each receive 2 GB of RAM.
Save the preference file and restart After Effects.
You can find the preference file Adobe After Effects 8.0 Prefs.txt in the directory (on Windows):
    i C:\Documents and Settings\XXXYOUR_LOGIN_NAMEXXX\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\8.0
    ...or for OS X:
    i Users/XXXYOUR_LOGIN_NAMEXXX/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/8.0/
