  • Unable to load project (prel file)  into Premier Elements 7.0

just installed 7.0 ..when attempting to load a project (slide show for play back on a DVD) created in Elements 3.0 .. get error that "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements" .. I have no problem loading the same project in Elements 3.0. Also seems specific to this file, an other project create under 3.0 appears to load with out error. I  should point out that  the project that will not load was created in Elements 5.0 and exported over to Premier Element 3.0 to create a playable DVD .. the file that will load was created in Premier Elements 3.0 (not sure if that is significant but more information is better then less) .. any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated ..thanks

"The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements"
Unfortunately, the last part of that error says it all. Something is used, that no longer is in PE7, or has been changed significantly. Could be an Effect, a Transition (though those usually just disappear, and the file still Imports - PrPro gives a warning, and tells you which Transition is missing, and the TimeCode of where it was used), or something else.
If you have PE3, you can do two things:
1.) finish the edit there and Export to your delivery format
2.) Export a DV-AVI file and bring THAT into PE7
Neither is quite as good as being able to Import the .PREL and work on it in PE7, but those are about the only choices that I see. Now, if you have any clue as to what the Effect (whatever) is, that's causing the problem, you *might* be able to open a COPY of the .PREL in WordPad, search for that Effect, eliminate reference to it, and then Save as a .PREL. That might be a lot of work, and might well destroy that COPY of the file - that's why you work on a COPY.
    Good luck,

  • Using GoPro Video in PrEl 7

After some experimentation, this is what I think I'm going to do, was looking for a sanity check:
My GoPro creates 1080P MP4 files. I chose 1080P since it's the only setting where the narrow field of view option is available on the GoPro.
    1. Use GoPro's Cineform editor to convert the 1080P MP4 files to 720x1280 AVI files.
Note: this creates AVI files 4x the size of the input MP4 file. I'm guessing/hoping this won't be a problem since PrEl doesn't import/store the entire file into memory, rather opens the file and reads a frame to use for a thumbnail, and reads the video content from disk when needed. Plan to use PrEl's clip editor to extract small clips out of all these very large files anyway. It's just the small clips that wind up on the PrEl timeline and thus must be stored in memory. At least that's what I'm thinking.
    2. Choose the PrEl 7 project preset: "HDV 720p 30" which matches the AVI file's frame size and rate. With this preset, the AVI files played smoothly in PrEl's clip editor and preview pane, better than the Cineform converted 884x480 AVI files.
    3. For output of the finished product for playback on a PC, chose MPEG format with the "HD 720P 30" output preset. This looked good on the PC. Could optionally use output preset "NTSC DVD Widescreen" for burning to DVD.
Sound good? Am I missing any "gotchas" here?
One last question, in my test project, I just created two clips, dragged them to the timeline end to end, and applied the Cross Dissolve transition to the clips. I noticed that during the dissolve, when you can see parts of both clips in the preview monitor, only one clip is actually moving. That is, until the CTI indicator has reached the first frame of the 2nd clip on the timeline, only the 1st clip is moving eventhough you can see the first frame of the 2nd clip in the monitor, but it's just a still image. Once the CTI reaches the 2nd clip, the first clip stops moving and the 2nd clip starts moving. I would have expected to see both clips moving simultaneously throughout the dissolve. Is this expected or a sign that something is still amiss?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
    Todd
    [Moved to Premiere Elements Forum]

Re your question on the cross dissolve transition, note that when you drag a transition to the timeline it can be located to the left, center, or right of the cut. If you want to change it after placement you can either drag the transition box (the one with the swirly arrow) directly or through the transition properties:
Also take a look at Bill Hunts reply #7 in Timelapse movie in PSE10? It goes into detail about 'handles' that are also important to understanding unexpected results with transitions.

  • Is PREL 13.1 the Problem, or is it the burner in my computer?

Once again, I am hoping the expertise of the devoted leaders of our USERS FORUM can solve my problems.  Thank you again for your devotion and efforts on behalf of all of us who struggle to produce our masterpieces.
I purchased Pre El 13 on Dec 29 and installed it 1-5-15.
My computer—Hpe 580t, Win 7 Professional 64-bit OS with a second internal 1 TB hard drive;     Burner Drive F: Name--    hp CDDVDW TS-H653T
               Intel R Core, TM i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07 GHz,      RAM 9.00GB
I use a Nikon Coolpix 100 camera to video indoor pickleball tournaments at 5 mega pixel size. These video clips range from seven seconds to one or two minutes.  I use PREL 13 to arrange the clips into whole games, which requires a lot of editing to eliminate in-between rallies and to correct lighting.  Starting with as many as 5 or 6 hours of clips, I pare down to a movie that will fit comfortably on one DVD—less than four GB, or 1 hour 45 minutes, of finished material.  After struggling alone for three months, I was able to produce such a DVD within about two weeks, thanks to A T Romano.
THE PROBLEM—after all the time and effort to produce a good movie, Prel won’t recognize the burner on my computer; therefore, I can’t produce a DVD disk.  (I always go through the Publish and Share dialog for burning a DVD with recommended settings.)  See Figure 1—below.
Even after I click on RESCAN several times, and make sure a blank disk is in the F: burner drive, PREL 13.1 refuses to find the computer burner.
Due to insufficient Upload speed (usually between 2.5 to 3.5 mbps) internet speed, sharing my Videos is wholly dependent on burning one to two hours of edited videos to DVD medium.  I have tried saving the movie to a Video_TS file on my computer, but cannot save all the components of the movie in the same TS file and be able to burn a DVD using ImgBurn.  The menus and scene markers are missing completely, and some of the video clips are also missing.  See Figure 2.
I want to use the Movie Menu Tools and scene markers to designate the beginning and ending of each scene, which I will burn to a DVD for playback on TV.  Movie menus and scene markers only work if I use the burner through PREL 13.  Other outside burners, like Windows Movie Maker or ImgBurn do not recognize the movie theme or the scene markers, nor do they provide any way to skip to a certain scene marker on the disk.
While working on other projects, I was able to burn DVD’s; however, I have become increasingly frustrated, because the vacant box indicating no burner detected is now happening every time.
Would this problem be solved by upgrading or installing another burner?
Or is this some ingrained bug in the PREL 13 software? (Such as; a burn can fail by inserting a stop marker at the end of a movie or scene)
Another PROBLEM—there is no way to save the edited video clips to a file, to be used again when PREL refuses to recognize my computer’s burner, which requires me to start all over with the editing process.
To avoid importing all the raw videos to PREL in an endless chain of clips and editing, I tried saving each game, or sometimes a whole match, to an mpg2 file on the computer.  Then it could be returned to my project by dragging and dropping the file onto the timeline in the proper sequence.  This method works in theory, but again, PREL won’t detect my burner in PUBLISH AND SHARE.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with me.

Thanks for the great post full of information.
For troubleshooting purposes, make one or more copies of your project - File Menu/Save A Copy - and work from copies each, each with a different name than the original.
Did you look at the burn to disc or folder with and without the Intel HD Graphics 2000 or Higher disabled?
ANSWER-- Please see Edit Menu/Preferences/General.-----------  I unchecked the box for acceleration and  - - - See LOVELY Screen Shot (Fig 5) Burn Status = Ready.
How do you know all this stuff?  I’m afraid to touch boxes and choices for fear it will really mess me up, and unless someone instructs me to do so.
Is the burner recognized and can you burn to disc if you remove the Timeline menu markers and Movie Menu from the project?------------Burn Status shows Ready!
With no Menu Markers or Movie Menu, I tried a Burn command after rechecking the Hdw Accel. box, and the Burn Status shows Ready with the box either checked or unchecked.  Since the Hardware Acceleration checkbox seems to be related to my problem, (Fig 6) is a Screen Shot of my computer’s two Drivers, F: & G: .  Is Hardware Accel necessary for good quality movies such as I want to produce?
    A. Could this one box be the source of all my troubles?
    B. Why is it now working either way?
    3. The 15 minute duration limit is for Instant Movie. You are not using Instant Movie so, with your19 minute Timeline, you should have no 15 minute restriction and should be fine in that regard. One thing you could check out about your Timeline structure - see if it makes a difference in any of the workflow - look to the Timeline spot about 00;17;05;02 - what is that clip and can you fill in the empty audio space under it with muted audio?  Clip at 17;05:02 looks normal to me.  There is a gap in the audio at 17:20:21 where I inserted  a Black Video and Title. Muted audio?  Couldn’t find a reference to Muted Audio.  Sorry.
    4. Let us go back to focus on the VIDEO_TS Folder from the saved burn to folder route....
    Publish+Share  -- Disc – DVD -- burn to: Folder (4.7 GB)...
In the Quality area of the burn dialog, what is displayed for Space Required and Bitrate with and without a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"?
(Fig 7) is a Scn Shot of the Settings for saving an MPEG file to computer.  I don’t know enough to mess with most of the presets when the window opens.  I did bump up the Quality to high 80’s, low 90’s.  The Field Order is preset to Lower First.
Are you taking only the VIDEO_TS Folder in the saved Premiere Elements folder into ImgBurn?
    ImgBurn
    Write Files/folders to disc
File Menu/Browse to source folder (that being only your VIDEO_TS Folder)
Here we go!  I was opening the TS folder and trying to choose what files had to be imported to ImgBurn!  OK—so you take the entire VIDEO_TS Folder to ImgBurn?
Out of time for today.  I will proceed from here and report back to you, hopefully tomorrow.
(ANSWER CONTINUES, SHOULD BE IN RED.)
Since I will be pushing the limits of a 4.7 GB, two-hour movie for my third project, how long should the ideal segments be before saving to an mpeg folder, to be dragged and dropped back to my timeline if I burn  straight to DVD?
Which way would net the best DVD quality—Burn straight to DVD, or save to a VIDEO_TS Folder and use ImgBurn for the DVD?
You deserve a medal for all you have done for me.  Thanks so much, ATR         Sandgrass
Let us review the above and then focus in on what next.

  • How can i open a .prel file in premiere elements 11?

    Hello Community
Yesterday i created a clip with premiere elements 11 and i saved it as .prel file.
Today i wanted to open this file to go on working on my clip but i couldn't open the .prel file.
When i try to open this file, my premiere elements 11 says that it doesn't support this kind of file or it's in a wrong codec.
Maybe it is because I relocated the different clips i used for my video after i saved my project
    Can anyone help me out?

    nikank
Maybe it is because I relocated the different clips i used for my video after i saved my project
A very likely possibility that should be explored first. Please move the clips to exactly where they were when you
imported them into the project. When you import your source media into a project, all you get in the project are copies of the
originals. And, those copies need to trace back to the originals at the hard drive save location where
they were when first imported into the project.
Under the condition that you describe, even if the project did open, you should be greeted by several "Where is the file_____?" messages
that you would have to deal for the reconnects.
Other complications may be involved but let us start with the obvious one.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • Unable To Open .prel Project

I'm running Premiere Elements 9.0.3 (PE9) on Windows 7. When I launch PE9, I get the "Welcome" window with the three options: "Organize", "New Project", and "Open Project". When I click on "Organize", I can see the ".avi" files that I’ve imported, and under the "Organize" tab, I can see my Video Projects (.prel files). However, when I click on "Open Project" on the "Welcome" window and then select any of the ".prel" files, none of these projects will open any longer. The small “Load Project” window is displayed and indicates that 100% of the project is loaded, but the PE9 window remains blank.  If I then attempt to open a second project from this PE9 window (File => Open Project...), then I get a pop-up window that contains the following error message: “Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.” When I click “OK” on this pop-up window, the same pop-up window appears again. When I click “OK” on this second pop-up window, Premiere Elements crashes and all of the windows close. (Note: I could open all of my “.prel” projects a couple of weeks ago -- I have no idea what changed.)

    BobEZ
First, there is no Premiere Elements 9.0.3 Update version of Premiere Elements 9. There is one for Photoshop Elements 9. So, I am assuming that the 9.0.3 was a typing error and that you meant to type 9.0.1 which is the required update for Premiere Elements 9.
There is an Adobe document on damaged projects that you might want to check out.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-projects-premiere-element s.html
But the first thoughts that come to mind on a problem such as this
    a. Have you moved or deleted any of the source media that went into any of these projects?
    b. Can you still open a new project in Premiere Elements 9.0.1?
    c. Is your video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements, and are you running the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    d. Have you tried to delete the Premiere Elements 9.0.1 settings file (Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs) found in the path (for Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit)
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work to solve the problem, then delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exits. (Be aware that the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file (new) will be generated after you open Premiere Elements. Make sure that you are working with Folder Option Snow Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the whole path.
Let us rule in or out the above considerations. And, if necessary, we will go into your computer environment, including optimization and the possibility of pile ups of preview files and conformed video and audio files. Are the Scratch Disks directed to a hard drive space with enough free space to accept them?/
    More later.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 11. Can't open Project (PREL file) in Windows 8.1.

I have created Project (PREL file) in Premiere Elements 11 in Windows 7 Professional environment. I was able to open it with no problem.
Now I have Windows 8.1. When I am trying to open this project, I have a pop-up saying 'This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed.'
    HELP!!!!!

    Levalt
From what you wrote, this is my understanding.
For each of your projects,  you set up a special save location for the project file (project.prel) and the source media that go into that particular project.
If you have 12 projects,  for each, you have a special save location (the project.file source media combo.)
Each of those 12 projects needs to be exported to a file saved to the computer hard drive. One suggestion might be is to save the export from each into a saved location name Grand Project Source Media.
It is these 12 exports that are going to be imported into the Grand Final product which will be outputted as wanted. At this point, those exports are your source media that needs to stay in contact with the grand projects. The source media that went into the individual 12 projects are out of the equation at this point.
But, back to the point that I was trying to get at. Each of those 12 projects that you start with has to have project settings (aka project preset). And, those project settings should match the properties of whatever you are putting on the Timeline of the each project. The project settings direct the program to set the right space in the Edit area monitor for editing so that you do not have black borders, pixel aspect ratio problems, and the like. So, I want to make sure that you have the right project settings for each project.
Then you need to export the TImeline content from each of those projects. Ideally the export settings should be consistent with the source media properties and the project settings. The ideal is to have this to be the case for all 12 projects.  Cannot advise you about these settings without details...
What is the project preset for the 12 starting project...NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 or something else?
If that is your project preset, what are your source media 1080i30, 1080p30, or something else?
I am suspecting that each individual project will be exported to a HD export 1920 x 1080 which might be a Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets set to maybe a .m2t file, maybe .mp4 file. It is all going to depend on a coordinated plan.
If you still have questions and need clarification about the above, do not hesitate to ask. I will explain another way if necessary.
    Thank you.

  • Preli cost compo struc of production orders to sales orders -Non valuated

    Hi experts
We use Non valuated sales order cost/settlement and assembly order processing. So production order is created from sales order and prel cost estimate is created in the production order. Now we notice that the cost component struc in production order is not copied into sales order. Only the EK02 is copied with total cost.
How to bring cost compo struc from production order to sales order ?
This may be a special cost estimate with costing and Is it possible to bring cost compo struc to copa record type A or F.
I know standard cost compo mapping in copa but I could not see the costing variant used in production order in copa master data configuration.
    regards
    KT

If the sales order is not a cost object, you cannot cost in it, and you can therefor also not see the cost component split.
When you sell the material, you can pull through the cost component to PA, via the material master using the COPA valuation strategy. However, only the info for the material in the sales doc line item.
You don't link to a costing variant, you link using the above valuation strategy and the costing key. The costing variant sits inside the costing key.

  • How do I convert a prel file into..

How do I convert a prel file into a mp3, avi, etc. I am needing to upload the video onto youtube and the file is not compatible as a prel. I am using adobe premier elements 12.

    mgroce
Given you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1. (limit...2 GB 15 minutes, even if you have an extended time account at YouTube...the extended time account applies only to file uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site)
If your goal is to get a Premiere Elements 12 Timeline uploaded to YouTube, you have two possible routes....
    a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube and your selection of the preset that matches your Timeline properties
    or
    b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 preset to export the Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive from where you upload it to YouTube at the YouTube Web site.
For best results, I would suggest an AVCHD.mp4 file instead of the "avi" that you mentioned. What is the video compression that goes with that "avi" wrapper?
As for .mp3, that is a audio file extension, what is your intent on that....an upload to YouTube with just music and with a black video display? YouTube strictly enforces any copyright issues, so please assure that there are none associated with these .mp3 otherwise YouTube will remove them.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if you have the information that you sought.
    Thank you.

  • PrEl 8 slow and clips will not play in monitor window.

This is very dissapointing. I have been using PrEl 3 up till now and have been really happy with it. I decided to give V8 a whirl. First off, I am not happy with the way the whole interface has been dumbed down from 4.0 onwards. 3 seems to have more manual controls easily accessible and seems more professional. Still, it is what it is. I am bothered by the fact that this is unusable on my machine. I have tried full size avi clips from an SD camera and I have tried little bits of wmv's and phone clips. Nothing will run. It loads into the media bin, drags onto the timeline, creates the peak file as usual but when I hit spacebar to play the clip the asudio works but the video does not. It juts shows a static image of wherever the plaay head was when I hit start. If I then stop the playback and click on the timeline it goes to that spot. Now, I can grab the play head and scrub back and forth on the timeline but it just willnot play in the monitor.
I have tried running 3 and 8 side by side on each screen with the same clip in each. 3 is perfect - 8 will not work.
    specs:
    XP Pro 32 bit SP3
    Dual Xeon 3.2 533
    4gb ram
    2 x 1tb Samsung hard drives.
    Matrox P650 graphics
Now, later this year I will be building a new i7 rig, and it may well ne that this will run the program with no problems. But it SHOULD run on what I have right? Its old certainly but still none too shabby.

Thanks for looking in. I have tried using clips direct from my camera which is a Canon MVX3i and the same thing happens. I know that Elements is made specifically for editing videos made on camcorders but I must say that in version 3 I have been able to drag just about any kind of video file onto the timeline and edit and output it with no problem
So yes, we are talking about standard SD DV-AVI files here.
Project preset is PAL SD 4:3 as it should be.
My video card is rumming latst drivers and BIOS although its an old card.
Quicktime - yes, have latest version.
I have version 3.02 installed still and it runs perfectly.
"Have you right clicked the Monitor and selected Playback Settings to see what setting are checked there?"
    External device: DV 25 720 x 576i
    Aspect ratio conversion - hardware
    Export device: DV 25 720 x 576i
both boxes ticked - this is the default setting and should work.
Okay - update on this: if I select External device: none then it works.
Also if I select External device: Monitor 2 60 1600 x 1200 it also works, and plays back on my secondary monitor which is very cool. But if I select DV 25 720 x 576i then it does not, although this is the setting I have on my 3.02 version as default.

  • How do I save my Prel file as a .MOV file or other movie file in Prel 12?

I'm trying to upload an edited video to YouTube I made in Prel 12 but it had an error when I tried to share it in Prel but it said the video was too long even though my video was only 4 minutes long.
So how do I fix that or save my project under something other than a .prel?

.PREL is a Project file... you need to go to The Elements Tutorial Links Page http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 and read the links about sharing

  • .prel files will not open in Elements 10

When i try to open a .prel file i get "this type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed" , i have opened/edited/saved these files many time before without issue. How do i fix this?

    LionkillerArt
Did you say that you were working on Windows or Mac? For now, assuming Windows,
    1. Go to the Adobe Folder in Documents (should be there unless you changed the default).
    2. Locate the project.prel file of interest in Adobe Folder/Documents Folder/Premiere Elements Folder/11.0 Folder. Inside the 11.0 Folder, among some folders and other files, are the project.prel files if you did not do any special organization. Right click the project.prel of interest and select Open With, followed by Premiere Elements 10. Does the project now open?
Do you have any versions of Premiere Elements on your computer except this Premiere Elements 10?
Have you deleted or moved any of the source media that went into your project after you saved/closed any of these projects? Where are your source media stored? If on an external hard drive, is the drive letter of that drive changing on its own?
What happens if you rename one of the problem project.prel files in the Adobe Folder and then try to open it from there?
    Just some thoughts for now.
We will be watching for further developments.
    Thanks.

  • Is there any source that I can find "prel" files?

    Hi all,
Is there any source that I can find "prel" files!
I realized that the best way of learning for me is to open prel files and examine ready projects and adjust according to my needs!
This method is fastest according to reading books or watching tutorials!
Any other suggessions about the ways of learning Adobe Premiere??
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Steve!
So much effort, knowledge and energy! You seem to me as you are from another planet!
By your replies I understand that PE7 and Sony Vegas Pro 9 work differently!
Because I have many "veg" files, I just only change the letters or pictures!
Indeed I was looking for "veg" equivalent of Premiere Elements!

  • Can I break up a video project into smaller projects using prel 10?

I've created a large video project in prel 10 ( the 0s is win7). I want to break it up into smaller new video projects so I don't lose all my existing assembly and editing work. Can I do this and if so how? Thanks

Keep the original project and  do a "save as" with a different name for each individual project and just delete what you don't want from each smaller project.

  • Stacking order on PrEl 9 not working

I am trying to change the stacking order on simultaneous multiple video tracks.  I have two tracks on the screen, I select one from the timeline and then right click on it in the monitor panel -- the option of Title>Arrange doesn't come up.  When I go to the options bar at the top of the page and click Title>Arrange, it will not let me select it.  In the help topics, PrEl 7 & 8 are covered with these instructions, but 9 is not.  Any ideas?  Thanks a million if you can solve this!  -JD

As Steve points out, the "stacking order," or Arrangement is only available for elements in a Title, like Shapes, or Text.
To change the "stacking order" of elements such as Clips, Still Images, or Titles, they can be Selected, and then dragged to higher (or lower) Video Tracks, that are empty.
Hope that helps, and good luck,
    Hunt

  • Why doesn't this section appear in the Audition Overview list.

I only stumbled into this part of the new Audition Forum through a link in one of Steve G's posts. Surely it ought to appear as one of the options along with Audition CS 5.5, Audition 3.01 and Earlier and Audition FAQ?
