Preloader loads movie in the middle

Preloader works, although my music from the loading SWF file
begins playing right away during the preloading phase. But when the
movie does begin playing, it starts in the middle somewhere.
(almost as if it is trying to catch up to where the music is at?)
Sound event is set at Start and to Loop in frame 11 of the movie.

You'll only see it happen the first time, after that the file
is cached and it will play from the beginning like it's supposed

It's hard to tell exactly what the issue is without seeing
the fla, but do you have the preloader on the same frame as the
actionScript you use to pull in the music? I would have frame 1
have the preloader. Then have the actionScript in the preloader say
to move to frame 2 (which holds your music and images) after it's
done. If it is built like this, then more detail is needed.
Also, the preload time is extremely long. Have you considered
running those photos through Photoshop and save for the web? You
can knock down the file size quite a bit that way.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)
If that didn't help, do a restore by connecting with iTunes.

Starting over and load XDK in the middle tier

Okay, I have seen how it works and very much appreciate its capabilities
even though I have only worked on the sample codes. My problem is
I had different versions of XDK components loaded (xmlparsers,oraclexsql
xslprocessors,etc) because the INSTRUCTIONS does not specify that
one should do a dropjava first before loading the new versions in.
<HINT! HINT!> It is stranged that I have used dropjava to unload
bunch of XDK related(at least from what i can remember) jar files
and rebooted the server, started but yet I can still serve XSQL files.
So it seems dropjava didnt work unloading this stuff.
How do I clean up and start from scratch again? What is the proper
steps to unload these XDK jar files? Furthermore, this time
I only want to load XDK in the middle tier and not on the database
itself, is this possible? I have the OC4J loaded on another machine
so I will use that to query the oracle database, basically having two
machines. Is there a documentation that explains these step by
step so I dont have to gather bits and pieces from different docs?
I even wanted to start further back to rmjvm.sql and the reload the
java jvm over again.

password?You cannot use the sys.user$ table to query user information, you don't have the algorithms used to hash the password, so it is not possible, if you want to authenticate users at the middle tier using the actual database user, then you must consider using Single Sign On and use the Enterprise User, this way oracle doesn't locally authenticate users, but it does by means of the user stored at the OID.
If you use a J2EE based application you should consider using JAAS to perform authentication, if you are using Oracle Application Server, the JAAS module is already prepared (but not enabled) to be integraded with the Oracle Identity Management mechanism. I suggest you to enable the JAAS module, even if you have to authenticate users by means of the local /etc/passwd like file, then once you have learnt to configure SSO and Oracle IM, migrate the configuration to use OID.

Apple TV displaying loading wheel in the middle of the screen on playback!

I'm experiencing some strange issues with two new movies I recently purchased. One is IronMan and one is New Moon. The only thing they have in common is they both came with iTunes Extra. Anyway, I have the latest version of the ATV software and iTunes. Movies synch great etc. THe problem is when I play ANY featurette off the ATV or the movie...the "loading wheel" is spinning in the middle of the screen the entire time. What exactly is the Apple TV doing??

Needless to say, I can't really watch a movie like that. I tried some of my older pre-iTunes extra movies that I purchased and they play without issue. Completely stumped!

Never seen that, but I've not got any extras movies.
I did notice that some iTunes LP purchases didn't seem to sync all the content so if iTunes was off some features would not be available or album art unavailable which was odd.
You'd assume it was doing some kind of sync or maybe streaming buffering for that to appear (though why not the blue bar?).
Very odd.
Is this with synced or streamed stuff?
Can you try with iTunes turned off?

I put one movie into the middle of another. Now the inserted movie frames are not the same size as the other movie. I can't find how to correct this. Can someone help?

If the two files do not have the same dimension you can adjust them via the Movie Properties window.
When you add two files that don't have the same dimensions the default position for the added file is 0,0 (upper left corner).
Open the Movie Properties window, single click on the video track you wish to adjust and then click the Visual Settings tab.
You can then adjust the dimensions (to fit the other track) or the "offset" values to position it (inside or outside of the dimensions of the other track).

Loading movies on the iPad from two commuters

Syncing the Movies section to your iPad form computer #2 will remove any movies you have that are not on computer #2 form your iPad.

Loaded movie communicating back to the loader

We have got a swf which loads another swf. everything works
fine, we can change things in the loaded movie through the loader.
But now we need the buttons in the loaded movie calling a method or
trigging an event in the loader. We have been doing that by using
LocalConnection, but now we need another approach.
How to do that?

had two separeted SWF.
But now we have got another project where we will have one
SWF loaded into it by loadMovie();
As we are new to Flash and ActionScript, what we really would
like to know is how could we call a method in a movie clip located
in the loader SWF, say mc_loader. We have created a new class
(extended from MovieClip) and inserted a new method on it called
dispatch(pValue:String).
then, from the loaded SWF we have tried, as you said,
_level0.mc_loader.dispatch("Test");
and also:
_level0.dispatch("Test"), but the method/function is not
being called.

Hotspots in a loaded movie not referencing correctly

My main movie uses an onResize function to reposition movie
clips relative to stage H & W, a movie loaded into level 1
contains the hotspots that aren't registering properly.

I think I have the concept, but I can't figure out how
exactly to reference this variable.
basically, the variable is '_root.newsMov.myData.newsVar'
which works fine when i load the movie in firefox by itself.
The problem comes when I load the movie via the index movie.
If the new movie with the loadvars is loaded into level 9,
how do I reference it?
_level9.newsMov.myData.newsVar doesn't seem to work... any
other ideas?

Skipping in one part when i play my movie in the dvd player

i've created a one hour movie. in the middle it skips about ten seconds. this only happens on dvd players. a few times it didn't skip. when i rewind i can see the footage that it skips. i've tried re-capturing the footage as well as using different media. any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.
If it is skipping in exactly the same spot with different media, that would be a bit odd. Often, playback problems are caused by too many errors created during the burning process or caused by bad media. Sounds like you've eliminated the media problem (Vebatim is often recommended, I like Sony also). To address burning problems, save your iDVD project as a Disc Image (a virtual DVD). You can play/check this file, and then copy it to actual media using Roxio Toast or Apple's Disk Utility. It's often recommended to burn at slower speeds to reduce errors; I go as low as 2x and don't have any problems.

Horizontal scroll thumb to start in the middle?

To centre the thumb on a horizontal scoll bar, to get it to start in the middle, I would have thought you set the following:
- Max = 100
- Min = 0
- Value = 50
But for some reason my scroll bars are starting from the far left. And any changes I make seem to make no difference.
Anyone else have this trouble?
I've tried the following as well:
- Max = 1150 (no. of pixels width of my image that I am scolling)
- Min = 0
- Value = 550
Although the thumb moves to the middle of the track in the artboard, within FC, but when I run the project or export it ... the thumb is at the 0 value (the far left)
Am I doing something wrong?

I have loaded a movie (test.swf) into movieClip:

Now I would like to "send" a message from the loaded movie to
the main timeline of loading movie. I have a dynamic text field in

should I do?

Ipod touch stops playing in the middle of a song..

Please help me, i have an ipod touch since 2008, i think it is from the first release. Few weeks ago it stops while playing any song or movie in the middle of it .
