Premier Pro 2014 is very sluggish

I installed Premier Pro 2014 last week and since then it's been running very slowly with frequent crashes. I have been using Premier Pro CC on a daily basis since it was first released
and hardly ever had a problem with it. Very frustrated and disappointed with this latest release - so have now decided to go back to to the more reliable Premier Pro CC.
I am hoping that this is a teething problem with Premier Pro 2014 - and that soon an update will be released that will make it just as stable as Premier Pro has proven to be.

So I use the following instructions posted by BobanskyBH and it seems to have worked perfectly!
In the finder menu click and hold on the GO menu.
Hold the option button and the User library menu will show up.
Click the User Library.
In that folder go to preferences and find the adobe folder.
Right click on adobe folder and click get info.
In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names. All should say Read & Write next to them.
Unlock the lock, switch them all to read and write. Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "apply to enclosed items. Then lock the lock again.
Now go to your OS Hardrive and click on Users, your user name, Documents.
Find the adobe folder there.
The lock the lock again.
Wait 1 minute.

  • Premier Pro 2014 will not launch

I've downloaded Premier Pro 2014 and tried to launch it, but it freezes every time and won't even force quit. I have to hard crash the whole computer to get out of it.
I've tried reinstalling, setting the permissions to read/write in the Adobe folder in the library, and tried to reset the preferences on launch as described here. But nothing works.
Also I'm having basically the same problem with After Effects 2014.
I think it has something to do with Media Core, but I can't figure out how to remedy. Earlier versions of PP CC and AEP CC are both working fine. Just these new versions will not launch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Computer is a MacPro, 2.93 Ghz Quad-Core with 10GB of RAM.
    Thanks!

    It's working! Yay!
Strangely, there is no 8.0 folder in the Plug-ins folder. So I pulled the plugins out of the 7.0>MediaCore folder and then was able to launch PP 2014. After getting it running. I quit PP and dragged the plug-ins back into the 7.0>MediaCore folder and was able to launch PP 2014. And this time it launched with all the plug-ins.
I was also able now to launch After Effects CC 2014 with all its plug-ins working.
Is it possible there's a different file structure for PP 2014 Plug-ins?
Anyway it's working. Thanks for your help.

  • Premier pro vs premier pro (2014)

What is the difference between the PREMIER PRO vs PREMIER PRO (2014).    I try to stay updated on my Mac with CC and now have what appears to be duplicate applications, i.e. a regular CC version of the apps and a (2014) version.   I don't understand.

Premiere CC and Premiere 2014 are two seperate programs. They are not duplicates.
Premiere 2014 is and update or upgrade whatever you want to call it of Premiere CC with all new features.
Below a link to all those new features.

  • How to import 4k cinema dng on premier pro 2014

how to import 4k cinema dng on premier pro 2014 ?

    Wow.  Thanks Colin.
When I follow your approach, I don't get the same "sequence preset" dialog box popping up.
FU question, though, the motion is frequently jagged.  Is there a way to smooth out/increase the quality of the rendering?    I have 16gb ram, Mac Pro.   which is able to handle iPhone video rending fine in quicktime.   (I've tried rendering for "performance" and "memory" but both seem to produce, eh results.).

  • Adobe Premier Pro 2014.1 will not download

I have 4 identical MacPros. RAM, processors, video cards are all identical.
When I ran the update from the Creative Cloud app, all computers updated to 2014.1, except 1 machine. it still had the previous version of Premier Pro.
Thinking that it may be an ID, or preference thing, I completely uninstalled all apps using the Creative Cloud app, and then ran AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool to find any left overs.
I restarted the machine, then reinstalled Creative Cloud app, and then used it to download Premier Pro, and it still downloaded the previous version!
I then completely wiped the machine, did a clean install of the OS, Downloaded an installed CC app, then downloaded Premier Pro, and again it downloaded the previous version!!
I know there is probably a very simple answer to this problem I'm having, I hope. I need all 4 machines running the same flavor of Premier Pro. Any Ideas?

    Hi Skwent,
Please try to rename AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat to AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat-old from the below mentioned location.
    Location: <Startup Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Please revert in case the problem still persists.

  • Premier Pro 2014 opens Audition CS6 when editing audio clip from Premier

I own Adobe CS6 Master Collection installed (for legacy projects) and I also have the CC subscription. When I am running Premier Pro CC 2014 and then try to edit an audio clip in Audition the CS6 version of Audition loads rather than the CC 2014 version. Any help or thoughts on why this is happening would be appreciated.
    KR

I detected this with photoshop--I think its an OS issue--The OS doesn't appear to recognize the two versions are different.  In my case, I had PSP CC loaded, but then loaded the 32 bit version of PSP CS6 (so I could scan directly into the program using "IMPORT")  Windows changed the default to the 32 bit version.  When I tried to change default using windows, windows would not show the CC version as an option--just the 32 bit version.  Without editing the registry, I couldn't find a way to force windows to ignore the 32 bit version and open the CC version.  My workaround was to always open the CC version from the icon and then click on the file I wanted open.  It appears that if any version of the program is already running, the recognized default won't open.  This might work for you on Audition.

  • Macbook pro gaming seems very sluggish

just upgraded from a Powerbook G4 15 inch... 1.25 GHZ with radeon mobility 9600 (64MB) and a gig of ram...
to a 15 inch standard 2.16 Ghz Macbook Pro.
i've tried loading a couple demo's (including doom... the one they brag about so much on the website ;)), as well as america's army.
These game ran OK-poorly on my old laptop, and i'd say they still run OK to poorly now... so *** gives? It's literally brand new. Bought it yesterday, opened it today.
with a 256mb x600 i was really expecting this to be nothin short of spectacular... i'm pretty dissapointed so far. any ideas why this could be?

I've been playing Lineage II in Windows XP mode and it runs pretty swell--although i think the graphics/processing really turns up the heat...It actually crashed after playing for a little more than an hour cos it got so hot... I dont think these macbooks were made to handle the amount of graphics & processing to run some of these games.
I'm afraid it might damage the mbp in the long run. Might have to get a dell xps or alienware for gaming which are made with more substance/practicality/functionality than style

  • MultiCam workflow and buggy behavior (Premier Pro 2014 CC)

What is the best workflow for MultiCam with 2 or more different cameras (different color, gamma, etc.)?
I have used nesting to create one track per camera - then color adjust and then create a nesting of the different tracks.
But then you have to select and copy each segment of the overall nested tracks to get each multitrack clip and put in a bin.
If I adjust color on one track after splitting - is there any ripple or I would have to repeat the above steps?
I also notices that it is buggy - many times when I select Camera A when I go to beginning of sequence - many of the selections have been reversed with reversal again at clip transitions - resulting on exact opposite of what I selected or random changes. Locking the tracks does not prevent this. It seems to be overriding my choices based on some program logic!!
    Thanks
    M.

    1. Create a sequence matching the specs of your footage.
    2. Add the media, one camera per track.
    3. Manually sync the clips.
    4. Create a second sequence matching the specs of your media.
    5. Nest the first sequence into the second.
    5. Right click the nested clip, select Multi-Camera>Enable.
    6. Edit as needed.
    7. When editing is finished, go back to the original sequence and do CC and grading work on the original clips.

  • Premier pro 2014 CC does this

It looks like the game is zoomed in but scaing is at 100% and if i take it to a bought 40% all the game play can be seen but has black bars on the top and bottom. Help please?

You need to set the view to FIT. This scaling is just for viewing.
If you want a perfect fit for e.g. YouTube (assuming that is the end destination) you need to  do the screencapture in 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
Any other resolution will give you black bars on way or the other.
You can scale present footage (see Effect Controls) up to get rid of the bars.

  • Premier Pro C4 zoom bar flicker

Help please zoom bar flickers premier pro C4 its very annoying

This did work in Win 7 64-Bit and thankfully solved an issue I was unable to solve after months of go-rounds with
    Adobe Tech support!
Thanks for the help.. I never knew how important a stable zoom bar was to the editing process!

  • Premier Pro CC 2014 (8.2) Keeps freezing and Crashing!!! Very Frustrating....

This is really really really frustrating, Whenever I'm editing a project, all is well for a little bit, but after working for a bit and especially after I render my timeline PPCC won't play nice. Either it will freeze, crash or get bottlenecked and move very sluggish. I don't understand why adobe seems not to be addressing this issue. If they are monitoring these forums, they will see countless users reporting the same crashing and freezing issues.Im on OS X 10.10.1and I have a late 2013 6 core 3.5GHz Mac Pro with D700 graphic cards, 64gs Ram. Im editing off of a Thunderbolt 2 Raid SSD, so honestly my system is more than equipped to handle my work, but it doesn't.
I seen dozens of post with Adobe recommendations, including saying its the Apple Graphics cards that are the issue, and apple need to update the drivers for the D300,D500 and D700 cards. But I'm sorry this is highly unlikely because users from Windows and Mac Machines with various graphics cards are reporting the same crashing and freezing issues.
I truly love what adobe has done with its Pro video platform, but if us Pros can't use it and its unstable, how can they continue on this road.
Adobe please chime in on this and lets address the core issue that soooo many people are having with PPCC 2014.

Hi, I have something similar to this happening to me. Does a crash report box also pop up for you? I get one, but it's for Apple, not Adobe. I  didn't have my problem until getting a new Mac with Yosemite installed, so it shouldn't be your machine's age.
Part of my error message looks like this:

  • Premier Pro CS6 Very Sluggish

    Good Day.
    I'm running PP CS6 on a mostly home-built PC under Win 7 Pro, v.6.1.7601, Serv Pack 1, build 7601.
    System is a64 bit Intel Core i7 970 @ 3.GHz, 3201Mhz, 6 Cores, 12 Logic
    24GB RAM
    NVIDIA Quadro 4000 w/2GB, Driver is 9.18.13.697
Internal HDD is a 10KRPM Velocerapter (as I recall)
External drives are a 4TB Glyph ForteRaid via eSata.
My media is footage direct from my Canon 5DM3 - no transcoding.
My problem is my PP timeline is VERY sluggish (compared to what I'm used to in Sony Vegas Pro and FCP 7).  It can take a half to a full second for an action to happen.  For example, if I click on the edge of a clip to trim it, it can take that long to register the click, and then again that long to move with my mouse.  Similarly, if I click on the timeline to reposition the CTI (yes, I'm a bit OldSchool), it can take a full second to catch up with me.  Same with playback.  Once it starts playing, I get great fps, but it's just getting there that's the issue.
I have NOT yet tried transcoading the footage to Cineform or similar, but from EVERYTHING I've read, this kind of footage should be zero problem for CS6.
If you would be so kind as to guide me as to what I might look at to make my system a bit more snappy.
Also, I live in Southern California.  Are there any reputable Adobe Gurus out here that I can take my system to (as mentioned, it's homebuilt) where they can "tune me up" and see that I'm running everything in the most efficient manor?  I have some good projects upcoming (90 min HowTo videos, etc) that I would very much like to be running at peaque efficiency with.
Thanks very much for any and all suggestions, thoughts, ideas and guidance!

Ok... just for you I rebooted to Win7 to test.
    I have a 42 minute Timeline with a few
cuts back and forth between two AVCHD sources.
One is the sample from ExactImage that has been confirmed
as being affected by the (now fixed) AVCHD bug in CS6.
The other is a sample provided by Fuzzy Barsik.
Both clips can be found for download in this thread:
CS6 / AVCHD / Spanned Clip Bug / What Cameras
    And Media Types Are Affected?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5596038#5596038
When I jump back and forth in the Timeline from cut to cut
and immediately hit play, I don't see the lags you describe.
    I am running CS6.0.5.
    note:
    I don't have MPE enabled:
