Premiere CC doesn't display/update windows sometimes in Windows 8

Just recently, with Windows 8 and Premiere CC, I get a bug that makes Premiere unusable. Certain windows don't draw or update regularly. See attached screenshot (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/651378/premiere%20windows%20not%20showing.PNG). Notice how I don't even have a timeline windows showing. Once I select the 'Media Browser' tab in the top left window, my timeline magically appears.
While editing in the timeline, changes don't show, making it very hard to edit. The timeline window only gets updated periodically.
Even rebooting does not correct this. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, I can't correct it. This happens with no other application.

Now to expand on my question (was running out of the door earlier, so it was curt).
I am the guy who experienced similar issues on Windows 7 and then after clean install of Windows 8.1 the issues went away. Yesterday, however, I had to open an existing project that required cineform codec to be installed so I went ahead and reinstalled and reactivated Cinefrom Studio Premium (2.0.0.285).
Did not have any issues with it yesterday. Today, on the other hand (and after a computer restart) I made a new project for something else I am working on which doesn't even contain any cineform footage, and then I had to go to the effect panel when I saw the dredded Search Field Hole.
Sure enough, all of the bad behaviors came back - an inability to untwhirl effect controls and wierd CTI behavior. Will try to uninstall Cinefrom later tonight to see if that was an issue.
On the side note Cineform has really dropped the ball lately. Pretty much unusable as a professional codec: timecode issues (non standard behavior), 23.9762 interpreted as 23.9800 etc.

Firefox launches and re-loads my tabs, but clicking on the tray icon doesn't display the window

I can see that Firefox is loaded and running (running Windows 7) - I can hear notices of emails arriving and see the miniature version of the active tab when my mouse hovers over the icon in the tray - but when I click on it it doesn't expand the window so that I can view it. I have tried closing and re-opening as well as restarting my computer. I'm hoping for a solution that preserves the open tabs I currently have. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

* Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
* Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window (use the keyboard cursor keys).
If that works then first close all other open Firefox windows and then close Firefox via "File > Exit/Quit" to save that setting.

Premiere CS4 doesn't work on Windows 7

I have a delicious new Windows 7 edit suite I built for nearly 3 grand, and Adobe Production Premium CS4.
Premiere doesn't work properly.
I urgently need to edit a TV documentary. I don't have time to mess around, that's why I paid for the software rather than pirate it or get something like Vegas or Pinnacle.
I try and load my Premiere project and the thumbnails for my clips are grey and the program freezes when I try to view them.
Importing the project into a new project does nothing.
I just lose response as soon as I try to play some of the clips (about half of them)
All of the clips are on a local, high speed hard drive.
I have downloaded all Window's latest updates.. Same with Adobe..
This software is fairly disgusting. I've been struggling with Adobe Premiere for many years, especially on larger projects that aren't SD DVD-AVI format.

I tried doing the benchmark thing but failed-
followed the instructions on the webpage, but found afterwards that they didn't match the instructions in the RTF file..
Couldn't get the script to work- runtime error.
However, project launched in around 11 seconds, rendered in I think less than a minute, and exported both formats in about 36 seconds.
Is that useful?
I am struggling to find any more time to work with this benchmarking utility.. thanks for bringing my attention to it though.
HDD setup is
System SSD
3 x Spinpoint F3 (not in RAID as I'm struggling setting it up without wiping Windows from the SSD...)
Asus P6TD
Graphics card is the weakest link here - 8500GT, until I can afford to upgrade.. Think it has latest drivers though.
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard (very recently installed)
I do indeed have a Logitech mouse, it's using SetPoint, latest version with UberOptions.
It seems like this project is nothing less than corrupted. But nothing is helped by me importing it into a fresh project... my steps:
1. Load Prem CS4 (latest update)
2. Load Promo.prproj
3. When loaded, it takes an additional ~15 seconds of busy disk activity, loading thumbnails in the timeline etc, which it normally never does on this machine. Finally, offline symbols change to thumbnails in the project/bin pane
4. If I scroll down in the project window, the lower clips have no thumbnails and suddenly everything's fallen apart; the monitor is black, the source monitor is frozen... Sometimes Prem says not responding..

DW CS4 doesn't display updated images edited in PS

Old way with DW8:
I would change/update an image in PhotoShop – save
over the old image – and DW would automatically

the new image. I’ve tried hitting F5 (refresh) in the Files
column, which oddly, works once in awhile – but not usually.

luck. Stranger still – if I upload the new image to the
server, the new image will show up in a live view of the page
– yet DW continues to display the old image.
I’m on a PC, running Windows XP (SP3)
Any help would be appreciated…

Just a long shot since I don't have CS4.
Does it help to rebuild the site cache? In CS3 it's
Site->Advanced->Recreate Site Cache

Yahoo's stock market report doesn't always update

Is something going on with the stock market report updates on Yahoo's home page? It used to work ok, but for the past few weeks the stock market report doesn't always update and sometimes the Nasdaq report doesn't show (only the Dow). This happens in Safari 5.0.1 running Leopard and 4.1.1 running Tiger.

It appears Yahoo needs to update their software to be compatible with the most recent versions of Safari whether it's 4.1 or 5.0.1

WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT sometimes doesn't display the generated PDF file

Everything works fine except the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT part. In some clients, this command does what it required from it and opens a new browser window with the PDF report displayed on it. In some other clients, this command does nothing: now window dispalyed. When I refer to the Application Server, I see the PDF report successfully generated there. When I put the URL of the generated report manually in the browser address, I can see the report.

I agree with the previous 2 posters.
Also firefox and ie handle it differently. Make sure you test on what your clients use.
Sometimes acrotray.exe is completely retarded and doesn't work.

T60 Laptop Doesn't Display On-Screen Volume After Hotkey Features Integration Update

I have a ThinkPad T60 (2008-HC6) laptop running Windows 8 Pro (32-bit). Today (1-24-2013), I installed the "Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8" update that was released on January 18, 2013. After reboot, the on-screen indicator that pops up when I change the volume on my laptop by pressing the volume up, volume down, or mute keys doesn't show up. The keys work fine, but the indicator doesn't display.
I've already tried looking for a solution online. One common solution, installing Lenovo Energy Management, didn't solve my problem. No other software was changed on my laptop between when the power indicator last worked and when I installed the Hotkeys update.

I figured out the problem was with the "On Screen Display" portion of the update. This particular update has two parts to it. First, it adds the "Lenovo Patch Utility" program. Second, it updates the "On Screen Display" program, assuming that an older version was already on the computer being updated. Adding the "Lenovo Patch Utility" didn't cause any harm, but updating the "On Screen Display" prevents the on-screen volume indicator from displaying.
Ultimately, what I ended up doing was removing the "On Screen Display" with the same utility that I used to update it. Then I downloaded the next newest version of the utility and installed that utility's version of the "On Screen Display" program.
My on-screen volume indicator is now back and running fine.

CC desktop client doesn't display available updates

After a rocky start I was finally able to download the desktop client. It was fine at first and allowed me to install CC trials, update trials, sync settings, etc.
I'm still able to sync settings and use my software, but CC doesn't display all the new updates that came out recently. It's been like this for a couple days that I know of, and I was able to download all of those updates on Monday from my work machine which is also running trials off the same account.

Wow, Adobe customer support is the worst I've ever used. Not these boards, these have helped me a lot in the past, but everything else.
Support has done nothing but vehemently try to convince me that I don't have a problem. "If CC desktop says 'up-to-date' then it's up-to-date." This has been their mantra. I plead with them, "No, my version of Premiere Pro is at 7.0.0 and the current release is 7.0.1." Then they just read the same line from their script, "If it says 'up-to-date' …"
One support guy even said to me, after I explained and re-explained my issue many times, "I don't understand, so why is your other computer getting updates and this one is not?" Gee, I don't know, THAT'S WHY I'M CALLING YOU!
I'm told to try the same basic things I've tried time and time again. I keep getting passed off to other people who quickly give up and tell me there's nothing they can do except pass me off to someone else.
It's been over a month that I've had this problem, ever since I installed Creative Cloud. I have encountered lots of bugs in the software, there are certain things I cannot do in my apps and I really need to get this resolved.
Sorry to rant and rave on a forum meant for utility, but this is the worst customer support experience I've ever endured, and I guess i'm trying to illustrate that THIS FORUM IS MY ONLY HOPE.
Please, any tips, advice, suggestions, any help from you knowledgable forum members is really appreciated. I really like the CC suite in theory, but I can't continue to be a creative cloud member if I am resigned to only using buggy release software for the foreseeable future on my primary computer.
I am not going to pay $50 a month for something so broken that I am not getting any support on.

Premiere CS4 doesn't work properly with Windows 7 trial - Please help!

I have installed the trial version of Windows 7 on my laptop and now my Premiere CS4 doesn't play the timeline in real time anymore. It worked fine with Windows Vista. I have also installed the newest Premiere update, but it didn't help. Is there a patch for Windows 7 (64bit) or will I have to wait until the full version comes out and try it again then?

It's a laptop and probably an older one, that means it is probably underpowered.

Probably good observations. I tend to loose sight of the fact that most laptops are not like mine and forget the common limitations. One mentions "laptop," and I see my Sager - duh! on me.
To the OP, this ARTICLE might also offer some tips on getting your computer ready for an NLE session. Common references are to how things are done in XP-Pro (my OS), but you should be able to "read between the lines," and adapt the general concepts to Win7 and your setup.
Also, giving full specs. on your laptop might help greatly, otherwise we're all just guessing. Bill brings up a couple of critical points. Your details will either point to them, or dismiss them.

Deskjet F4235 doesn't print after Windows 8.1 update and subsequent updating of HP software

Updated Windows 8.1 software. Afterwards when I went to print, received a message that the HP software needed to be reinstalled. Printer still worked at that point--but there were problems. Couldn't scan from the printer; had to do it from the computer. When I realized it wouldn't duplex print, I decided to do the reinstallation. After many screens, etc., the HP printer diagnostics told me that there was a problem it couldn't solve. I went to HP support, software and drivers; nothing helped there. Now my printer doesn't work at all. I have USB. Can anyone shed light on this? Thank you so much. ~J

I would like to assist you today with resolving the software and driver issue that you're experiencing with your USB connected HP Deskjet F4235 All-in-One Printer on your Windows 8 computer. Can I please have you follow the steps below to get this printer functioning properly for you.
Please disconnect your USB Cable before proceeding.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
It is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with.
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens, type Programs and Features. Click Programs and Features to launch it.
A list of programs will populate under the Programs and Features window. Scroll down the list and select the HP Deskjet. It may show as HP Deskjet F4200 or HP Deskjet F4235.
Once the HP Deskjet is selected, click Uninstall
Follow any onscreen prompts to complete the uninstall. Once the uninstall has completed successfully please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens, Run
Click Run to launch the Run dialogue box
In the Run box type %temp% and select OK
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
Step 3: Reinstall Drivers:
Please click here for the correct driver package.
Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
If prompted, allow the download to Run
Once the download is complete, please follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall your printer
Do not plug in your USB Cable until the installer prompts you to
Once the installation is complete, please test functionality of your printer to ensure that everything is functioning properly now.

I have no idea what that message means; try uninstalling using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html then download and reinstall the latest Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

No, that is the problem. I don't see how it should be, but that is what happened after I did the upgrade, which was for iPhoto 9.2. The upgrade then required that the Library be upgraded. Then CS2 stopped showing the photo when I opened CS2. Maybe there was a system upgrade for the whole system, that went along with 9.2. Before the upgrade CS2 worked. I even tried photos that I had on backup disks, and they wouldn't show in CS2 even though I had draged them to the PS icon in the dock. These photos were not on my computer when the Library was upgraded. I even tried photos fresh from the camera. Elements 9 does work to open the photos.
