Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.0.1 won't import MTS, MOV, MP4

My Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2 has no trouble importing AVCHD files (.mts) or .mov or .mp4 files. My Premiere Pro CC (2014) 8.0.1  cannot import these; it sees them as "greyed out". Since, by default, Premiere Pro files open in PP CC 2014, this is a problem. I have to do an "open with" the older version.
Suggestions?
iMac with Mac OS 10.9.4 (Mavericks)

Me too with this one have it randomly when just opening the same project and begining to edit
had it happen about 4 times now.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 Trial Version  - Error when importing mts and mp4 video files

First time using Adobe Premiere Pro (and I'm using the trial version).  When I try to import an mts video file (and tried to import an mp4 file as well), I get the error: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 has stopped working.  And then the program crashes. Please help.

    Hi Catherine,
    Welcome to the Adobe forums.
Please try the steps mentioned below and check if it works for you.
    1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a Project, go to File menu>Project Settings>Renderer and change the Renderer to Software only mode, delete previews if you get a prompt and then try to import the clip.
    2. If step 1 fails or the Renderer is already on Software only mode, go to Start Menu and search for Device Manager, go into Display Adapters and Right click on the Graphics card to select Update driver software option, on the next screen choose "Browse my computer for driver software", then choose "Let me Pick from a list..." option and from the list select "Standard VGA Graphics adapters. You might need to change the screen resolution of your screen and once done restart the machine again.
Launch Premiere Pro and import the clip to check.
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't open "because it is not responding".

When trying to open Premiere Pro CC 2014 it won't open and I get the message "You can't open the application "Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014" because it is not responding.
I've done my updates, uninstalled it, reinstalled it. Even did a clean re-install of the Yosemite OS but nothing. It opens up fine on my laptop.

A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash on launch. Here are some of them:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin.
    the graphics driver
having an integrated graphics chip as well as a graphics card. Disabling the integrated chip often fixes this.
having Nvidia CUDA drivers installed on a system with an AMD card
    third-party plug-ins
a problem with the cache files.
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)
folders that Premiere writes to being set to read-only
the user not having administrator rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.
The fact that you've done a fresh installation of 10.10 eliminates some of those possibilities.
After a crash on launch, does a dialog box eventually come up prompting you to submit a crash report to either Adobe or Apple? If so, please click "information" or the like to access the crash log and copy/paste the report here.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't play anything.

Today I launched up a brand new install of Premiere Pro CC 2014 (it's a trial) on a brand new iMac (3.5 GHz intel Core i7, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB) and my project that was working fine yesterday on my MacBook Air will not play anything. The footage is all DSLR H.264. My sequences won't play, my clips won't play, my merged clips won't play, my multi cam sequences won't play. You hit play and the play button changes to a stop button, but nothing happens. I tried logging in as root but it won't play there either. All the footage is sitting on an external 4TB Lacie thunderbolt drive.
    Any thoughts??

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't launch on new Macbook Pro

As if Adobe's issues with my new Mac Pro weren't enough, I can't even get Premiere Pro 2014 to launch on my 2 day old, top of the line laptop. I searched this online with no answers in the forums on either this site or Creative Cow.
Everything is updated. Freshly installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 via the Creative Cloud App. When I launch the App, I get the initial screen with the beach ball and it never opens. My Macbook Pro's fan goes haywire, and no other apps will work (including activity monitor). I have to manually hold down the power button & force shutdown every time.
I was going to finish up some edits at home over the weekend, but now I have to go back to the office on Sunday & work on my other troubled system. Sooooooooo over these issues with Premeire Pro. Help?

I am Windows, but some saved Mac links that may help

  • New (8/14) Macbook Pro Retina - Premiere Pro CC 2014 spinning beach ball

Help! Seems my shiny new wiz-bang 4-core Macbook Pro with 16 GB of Ram and a 512 solid state drive works just fine with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 until my project reaches a certain size, then it won't open the project and immediately gives me the deadly spinning beach ball. The only way to exit is to force quit whereupon I get the "Sorry, a serious error has occurred...". Aggravating beyond words.
Saw one forum comment where it was recommended to update to the 6.0 CUDA driver, but not even sure I have a CUDA driver. Plenty of space left on hard drive. In Premiere Pro preferences under the "Memory Tab" it doesn't seem to matter if it's set to "Optimize rendering for.... Memory or Performance." I've reinstalled the Premiere Pro App twice. Doesn't help.
    Some specs:

    Intel Iris Pro GPU Built-in
    8 GB DDR# 1600 MHz (x2) = 16 GB RAM
350 GB of 499 GB left on drive
Of the 16 GB of RAM I have 11 available for Premiere Pro and the other 5 GB allocated for other apps.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashes when loading project file

Hi guys, any help on this is much appreciated as I have a job due in 18 hours and I'm in big trouble if I can't fix this.
I've been editing a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (updated to the latest version) and when I tried to access the same file today it is giving me the error message:
'Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.'
I had saved other version files and they all seem to be working properly so I know it's not my HD that is corrupt. In fact my suspicion is that it has something to do with a blur effect i'm using. The only problem is, I can't even access the file to delete the effect as the project file won't open.
    Information about my computer:
I am using a Macbook Pro
    OS X version 10.9.4
    2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory 16 GB, 1600 MHz DDR3
    Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • Exporting to Media Encoder crashes Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Greetings,
I am experiencing a problem with premiere off and on. Right now it is an on problem. When I am exporting from Premiere Pro CC (and CC 2014) it will intermittently crash Premiere. I have tried this with several different audio and video formats (AVI [Lagarith and uncompressed], WAV, H.264, MPG2, AAC, etc). At the moment, every time I go to export to queue it locks up and hangs on the "Preparing data for export..." Media Encoder Launches and then it just freezes. I get "Problem Even Name: AppHangB1" over and over. Sometimes a full restart will fix this temporarily and sometimes it goes away for a long while. I managed to get a few sequences exported and then it just kept freezing on every PP CC restart.
    Here are my system specs:
Premiere Pro CC (up to date)
Win 7 64bit (up to date)
    i7 970
    24GB Ram
NVIDIA 470GTX (driver up to date)
    3 x 1.5TB internal
    4TB internal
    3TB internal
    12TB RAID 5 via USB 3.0
    USB 2.0 and 3.0 drives
FireWire audio device (M-AUDIO FireWire1814)... although, I am not using it for playback. It is connected.
Footage is from C100 H.264 .MTS, H.264.mov from 7D, and H.264 .MOV from iPhone.
All stock video plugins with a few third party audio plugs.
This problem happens with and without third party plugs, but it happens that this project uses them.
I have chatted with Adobe help twice about the matter and nothing has come of it. Log out, log in = same. Restart = same (sometimes), create new user account = same, and so on. The only thing I haven't done is completely re-install premiere, which seems a bit overkill. One of the reps said he would get back to me in a few days after he watched the issue via screen share. Never heard back.
I get the sense that this has something to do with PProHeadless.exe not launching or not running properly. When the crash happens on a fresh restart of PP CC 2014 PProHeadless is not running. I can start PProHeadless and it will send sequence to media encoder. When I try to export another sequence from the same project it crashes and I see another instance of PProHeadless launched.
Also, once the projects are exported to Media Encoder, I can encode them to any format with no problem. The problem is getting the sequences there!
Is there anything that I am overlooking here?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi
    Premiere pro cc 2014  8.0.1 (21) build
    Encoder CC 2014 8.0.1.48
I use CC for Teams so it updates all the time.
Again when I tried to use it today by letting premiere open it by sending an output into Queue it crashed both Encoder and Premiere.
In order to shut down Encoder and Premiere I had to go into Task Manager and "End Process Tree" on everything adobe I could find because just ending Encoder did not work it would not close. I remembered that years ago when Premiere would crash we had to end a photoshop process. I found photoshop open even though it was not "alive" on my task bar. I had used it yesterday but had closed it. I also had to close dynamiclinkmanager.exe *32 as well as one of the three Adobe CDF Helper.exe*32. They popped back on but Encode closed and then I got a message that Premiere needed to close and did when I clicked the button to let it close.
After all this I re-opened Encoder by itself and checked the Preferences finding that Import Sequences Natively option was again checked.
By the way for me, "Launch AME manually, then drag the sequence from PPro's Project panel to AME's Queue (or to a preset in the Preset Browser). That uses a different code path than the File>Export>Media workflow." won't work most of the time because I do live events of panel interviews that may run 2 or more hours. I need to break them down to chapters for the web
Also I know this isn't part of this problem but I and many others would still love dynamiclink to work to Encore because the DVD is not dead yet. The current work path is a drag.
Looks like some programers and engineers have some work to do.
    Thanks
    Dennis

  • NEED HELP ASAP  Updated to Premiere Pro CC 2014 and now .MTS files are unsupported/unrecognized

    I Have Windows 8
    3.4 Ghz 8 Core Intel i7
    32 GB Ram
    PPCC2014
I was using Premiere Pro CC for the last year or so and .MTS Files have worked fine.  Since I upgraded.  I can no longer use .MTS Files.
I sync all of my footage using Plural Eyes.  I updated plural eyes so that it would work with the New Premiere Pro CC 2014 update.
I tried going back to Premiere Pro CC; however, that was updated as well.  It does recognize the .MTS files there, but it doesn't import the new .xml correctly created from Plural Eyes 3.5
If anyone knows any help or workaround so I can complete my TV episode.  That would be great.
Also, I would prefer not to have to Transcode anything.  Hours and Hours and Huge files won't really work.
I've also looked in to Re-wrapping.  I understand Clipwrap is great for that; however, I have Windows not Mac.  Other options look way too involved.  I'd really just like my Premiere Pro to work the way it's supposed to,.
    Does Adobe Media Encoder Rewrap?
Anyway, any ideas would be helpful.
    Thanks

Thank You, Thank You!!!!   That worked.  I had to "Link Media"  to the new file path, after I renamed the parent folder; however, it's working!!!!  Hopefully there will be a fix for that soon!

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.1.0) freezes while scrubbing timeline

Using a Mac Mini (late 2012 model), running Mavericks 10.9.5
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Quad Core i7
    Memory: 16 GB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024MB
I am also using a 2TB Fantom G-Force Megadisk external HD to store all my media. It is connected via a Firewire 800 cable
I've been having a lot of trouble with Premiere Pro CC 2014. While scrubbing through a project, a frame will all of a sudden freeze in the program monitor. I have my processors displayed on my menu bar and I've noticed that whenever I run into lag time or freezing the 8 processors won't all be firing, usually just one is actually working at that time. I am also only running one program at a time as to not tie up my processor.
All of my source files are usually AVCHD. Most of my work is under 10 minutes long, so they are just short corporate videos not feature length movies.  I understand that editing native files can really slow your processors so with my latest project I consolidated and transcoded in the Project Manager to Apple ProRes in order to test that. Even with that I'm still having the exact same problem.
These are some other steps I've taken to correct this:
I've contacted Adobe several times and they told me that the Graphics Card is known to have problems and to contact Apple. I contacted Apple and they said there are no known problems with that Graphics Card it sounds like a software issue. I ran a disk permissions test and uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Same problems. Nothing has worked.
I've trashed my preferences as well
Really it seems that both Adobe and Apple are pointing the finger at each other. All I want to do is edit my videos without having to restart Premiere Pro every 10 minutes.

This seems to be an issue for me A LOT too. I can't keep Premiere open for more than 2 minutes at a time right now. The Customer Service rep from India did a "Team View" on my computer before and after 45 minutes finally fixed the issue. But I can't seem to get a hold of customer support right now. I hope you and I both find a solution soon. Good luck!

  • Creating a vignette in Premiere Pro CC 2014

In another thread, I was criticised for the way I chose to create a frame vignette in Premiere Pro.
I've always created a vignette using the circle effect on a transparent video layer, inverting it and applying a feather.  The result can be made fairly subtle if you choose, and the vignette I use the most looks like this (applied over white video so it can be seen easily):
As someone rightly pointed out, the effect isn't GPU accelerated, and with the arrival of Premiere Pro CC 2014, there's a new way to create a vignette using masks, i.e. create a Black Video layer, under Opacity click the ellipse mask, stretch it out to fill the frame, invert it, apply a feather, etc.
The problem is, I cannot find a set of parameters that create a vignette with this new method that approaches the look I am after.  This appears to be mainly because the mask feather is applied to the entire frame and not just to the circle shape of the mask.  That means you end up with a vignette that looks something like this:
Notice the black blobs in each for the four corners.  Also notice that the feathering is being applied to the vignette from the outside of the frame as well as from the inside, i.e. the black blobs are feathered towards the edges of the frame as well as towards the inside.
Of course, you can crank up the feathering to try to remove the blobs, but then the result is that the centre of the frame is now grey:
I've tried using Mask Expansion to push the blobs further out, but the feathering is still applied to the edges of the frame, so you end up with something like this:
Looking closely at the corners (although it doesn't seem to show up very well once saved as JPEG), the vignette goes from white gradually to grey, then starts to head towards white again.
Does anyone think they can find a set of parameters for this new method that recreates a vignette similar to my original?

Those "edge effects" (where "the vignette goes from white gradually to grey, then starts to head towards white again") are caused by the way that Gaussian Blur handles intersections of the mask with the edge of the media.
So "making the mask larger then the frame" (as suggested by Ann Bens) unfortunately won't work because this causes the "edge" to be inside the mask, which is the problem.
But you CAN make the frame larger than the sequence dimensions, and thus avoid these edge effects altogether by using "Motion : Scale" to scale the media (your Black Video Layer) to (say) double the size of your sequence. Now you can create a mask that doesn't hit the edges of the frame, and thus produces no edge effects, and so feathers smoothly all the way out to the edges of your sequence.

  • Importing Premiere Pro CC 2014 media into Avid MC8

    Hi guys,
I've been having a problem using AAFs to move sequences from Premiere Pro CC 2014 to Avid Media Composer 8, long story short I'm working with a post company using Adobe for everything, but the editor is at a different facility and uses Avid. I've been testing a workflow to go between the two, I know how to use both programmes and relink media, but when I import the AAF i made in Premiere into Avid although the footage names are there and the sequence shows up in the correct order when i try to reconnect the offline media no matter what I try it just won't do it.
Having googled it I found that this used to be an issue between Premiere CS6 and Avid 7, so is this still an issue that I have to find a way around? Or is there a simple fix that I haven't found?
    Thanks,
    Andy
Also I forgot to note that the files we use are .MXF, which are unsupported by FCP7, meaning we can't go through Automatic Duck in there. Go figure.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing very often! Please Help!

    Hello,
I am currently editing my first feature on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and it is currently up to date.
I am editing on a iMac 27in, late 2013 brand new computer.
Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
    System: OSX Yosemite V 10.10.1
The project is located on a 8TB G Drive
    7200 RPM
    High Performance ThunderBolt drive.
    Details of the project:
I am currently working on a fine cut of 5K Red Footage that is being cut in the RAW.
I work at 1/2 quality settings and have no lag.
The timeline includes limited stacked video files and various mp3 audio files.
    The Problem:
Lately, the program will randomly quit or freeze up 4-5 times during an 5-6 hour edit session.
Many times it is random, however, it seems to happen often if I accidentally click on the end of a clip on the timeline and it goes to switch into trimming mode.
Also, it will randomly go into the "pinwheel of death" out of nowhere followed by "Adobe CC is not responding."
My project file is just about 15MB now.
What is causing this reoccurring problem?
How can I make it happen less?  I have scoured the forums and found similar articles but no helpful solutions.
I have recently turned auto save on to save every 2 minutes because there have been more than one occasion where I lost A LOT of work because of this issue.
I am about two weeks out from picture lock delivery and this issue is driving me crazy and loosing me a ton of time.
Please help or let me know if any more additional information can help solve the issue.
I have sent in well over 25 error reports already.
    Thanks,
    Thomas.

I think I may have found the solution...
I completely removed the Premiere Pro folder under User > Documents > Adobe and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
I of course backed up my projects and than deleted this folder. So far it seems it worked.
I'll know for sure in a day or two, but after constantly crashing, Premiere hasn't crashed for the last 4-5 hours of work.
