Premiere Pro project burned in iDVD very pixilated

I'm stuck! I'm posing this question in both Adobe's forum and Apple's because I can't figure out were the problem lies.  I shot & edited a wedding video recently in Premiere Pro CS4. For wedding video I normally export to at QuickTime NTSC 29.97 SD file then use iDVD 7 (only because they have nice DVD menu templates for wedding videos) to burn to DVD. The draft file I exported and burned in iDVD 7. The video looked good.
After the customer requested a few changes I then exported from Premiere again and burned in iDVD 7. But this time the video is noticeably pixilated. I exported the movie again, again and again (maybe 15 times already) and the same thing. I've tried exporting shorter versions of the video, different scan options, everything. Funny thing is I still have the original draft file and when I burn that one its still looks good. That's the only one that works. I then bought a software called Media Inspector which analyzes video files and shows all the settings and I'm showing that the original file is identical in it's settings to the ones that don't work.
Anybody have any ideas? And yes I did export the video in Premiere as an MPEG2 for DVD and burned in Encore and it looked good to. It's just that the customer is expecting that DVD menu know and I'm not knowledgeable in creating one in Encore from scratch yet.
Thank You

As a test, it might be interesting to launch Adobe Encore (included with PrPro, as of CS3, though you might not have installed it), and then see how it handles that MOV file. I would do a simple AutoPlay (no Menus), and Burn to either Disc, using a RW media, or to Folder, and test on a DVD software player. How does that look, compared to iDVD?
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Premiere Pro Project Very Slow To Load....Why?

    Hello All
Really hope that someone can suggest a reason as to why I may be experiencing this problem.  Firstly, heres the problem:
Problem: I open a Premiere Project and it opens up.  The bar at the bottom reports that all media is loaded, however my thumbnails are very slow to populate and then be hover scrubbable (new verb!).  Not only that the timeline thumbnails take ages to update and are not available for me to begin scrubbing through right away. Very frustrating.
    Here's some facts:
    System Hardware:
    2013 Mac Pro; 3Ghz 8 Core Model; 32 GB RAM; Dual D700s 6GB
SSD - Mac Standard 512GB as boot drive and for applications
Edit Drive - Thunderbolt connected LaCie 2Big 4TB Drive x 2 (these are daisy chained via thunderbolt too and striped together in a RAID for maximum throughput) Speeds are generally in excess of 500Mbps read and write
    System Software and Information:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10
Premiere Pro Project stored on Edit Drive with all media for that project
Cache Files stored on same drive as Project (Edit Drive)
    Project Size = 48.7MB
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this problem is occurring? Previously had problems with the MacPro/GPU Mavericks 10.9.3 issue that everyone had been reporting but seems to have gone away now and after some other troubleshooting like resetting preferences and PRAM; running Safe Boot Disk Permission Repair (as recommended by Larry Jordan).
Really appreciate any help and this is a really annoying issue and is affecting our workflow hugely.
    Cheers

Hm, if the issue occurs with two different host systems, then i would rather think that there are maybe issues with the network. Are you aware of any changes/updates done by IT? Security patches, changes of software on router, ....
What you maybe can try is to isolate one of the host and connect one of the PXI using a cross cable directly to this host. Does the issue occur there again(still)?
You can format/reinstall one of the PXIs to do a cross check with one system with original state, the other with newly installed state.

  • Importing Premiere Pro project into After Effects ???

When I import a Premiere Pro project into After Effects, it splits every shot onto a new track, ending up with a couple of hundred tracks at the end.
Is there a way to avoid this ?
Particularly, since I'd want to keep the option of bringing the project file back in Premiere for further editing.
My colorist suggested that I nest reels of my timeline and split it that way so that when he imports it he has nests on one timeline and the multiple tracks in each of those nests. Still, this feel very clunky.

An editor at work was using our Avid to do a grade on a short promo and I
wanted to see what I could do in After Effects. So when he was out of the
office I exported the timeline as an AAF and copied the OMFI media. When I
brought the project into After Effects I ended up with a massive number of
layers and freaked at first at the idea of doing anything with it.
However I thought about it again and decided to precompose all the layers,
as this gave me just one layer to work with. I then added a couple of
Adjustment Layers above it; one with a Levels effect added and the other
with HSL. I also added Masks to the Adjustment Layers so I could vignette
    any effect.
The key to working like this was to use Hold Keyframes at the beginning of
each new shot for each effect, Mask Shape and Feather. I could then adjust
that shot, scrub to the next shot add new Hold Keyframes adjust that shot
and so on. When I wanted to repeat any effect settings on a shot, I just cut
and pasted the relevant keyframes. Mixes across shots can be tricky but you
can always go back to work with the original shots on their separate layers
    if you need to.
I ended up with a quick grade that stood up nicely against the one done on
the Avid and I only had work with 3 layers on my timeline!

  • Pink lines in Premiere Pro projects

I am getting these pink lines in my Premiere Pro projects. This is a shot from the program monitor of a current edit.
It appears randomly and on very different projects of very different spec.
I've tried turning off 'Composite in Linear Color' as I've seen in other threads but it makes no difference. Anyone having the same problem and have you found a a solution?
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Pro Project Manager does NOT include After Effects files.

Warning: Premiere Pro "Project Manager" does NOT include the After Effects 'dynamic linked composition' files associated with the project when "Collect File and Copy to New Location" resulting in the incomplete and loss of all dynamic linked compositions in the new project destination ( folder or disc drive ) .. I know this also includes Photoshop dynamic links and assume includes Audition audio files as well.

Here's the best way: Personal Responsibility.
Put all of your project files in one file. Stop asking PPro to do it for you. It's simple. This is a no-brainer. If you create a linked comp, create it in the same file as your PPro project and files. When you send it to Encore, create the Encore project in the same folder. Works all the time, every time. When you're sure that you're finished with the project for the forseeable future, move the entire folder off your workstation into storage. Do I move a copy of each asset (video clip, image, audio, etc.) into this folder before I import it to my AE or PPro project? Yes I do. Is it overly time-consuming? Not really. I can fly on my machine. Does it beat not being able to open a project later. Oh yes. Yes it does. I'd say I did 50 projects last year this way. When I occasionally had to move a project folder back to the workstation, I had no problems. Everything worked as it did before I off-loaded it. That's because I take personal responsibility for my projects. It's imporatnat that theyt work, especially if I end up having to hand it off to a third party down the road.
BTW, my workstation is RAID 0. If you are using anything less, you need to upgrade. What I'm trying to tell you is that my system works very well. I have not always done things the right way. I have had my share of frustration. The point is that I learned. Now I'm passing that on to you. I use CS5 on an HP Z800 with a measely 12 gigs of ram and a single i7 quad core and the aforementioned RAID 0 configuration and a hacked Nvidia GTS 450. It works quite well. I'm sure I would do even better with another i7, 12 more gigs of ram and a Quadro 4000, but this is what they give me to use.
Additionally, I'm using CS5 at home on a MUCH older HP xw8200 dual dual Xeons, 12 gigs of ram and software-only MPE. Guess what? It works quite well.

  • Exporting AE composition as Adobe Premiere Pro Project

Hi Adobe support team; me again. Do you know what am I supposed to do? Step by step and very simple vocabulary plz... The question? What am I supposed to do to export an After Effects composition as an Adobe Premiere Pro Project. When I export a layer from the composition it works good, but when I try exporting all the composition, it doesn't work at all. There is obviously something wrong; what it is?

Depends if you are on the cloud or not or the new 12.0 version.  One way to do it is to import your AE footage into PP as pending on your puter....
Important to tell your version and OS when posting. What seems clear at your end is being asked from someone who has not seen your challenge.

  • Is it possible to export, and include AE compositions used within a Premiere Pro project, via project manager?

I've several Premiere Pro CC 2014 projects I want to relocate via project manager (one at a time). They're excessive in size (many long and unused footage files), so "Create New Trimmed Project" is the setting-option, within project manager, most attractive. BTW I love how project manager does this... However, when I check on its new location, I don't see any linked AfterEffects files. Fine, I try the other setting "Collect Files and Copy to New Location". This option allows me to now copy everything including rendered scenes featuring my AE compositions (and a lot of excess, unused files)... but still no AE files!
Is it possible to export a Premiere Pro project, excluding unused files, yet include all used files... especially linked files such as AE compositions?

Though not exactly the solution I seek, I've tried an alternative approach... it works (if anyone's interested)... but my original question still stands.
Alternative approach (and probably the only option now):
When I copy & trim my Premiere Pro project via project manager to its new location, I can open the new file and see the track editor now includes broken links to AfterEffects compositions. Since I don't wish to relink these to the current .AEP file, I may package** the original AE project to a location near my newly-located Premiere Pro project folder. To do this, I open the original .AEP file containing any compositions linked to my original Premiere Pro project, and use File < Dependencies < Collect Files. This feature copies all files (and a new .AEP copy) from this AE project to my newly selected destination (as long as no files are missing).
So at this point, when I open my newly-located PP project, I can relink the broken AfterEffects composition links in PP to the new .AEP file. Yay!
**package (for those unaware) is the term used within Adobe InDesign. This feature gathers all linked files that makeup the overall design and layout, and copies into a new folder.

  • What is the most efficient way to use Remove Grain from After Effects on large Premiere Pro project?

I've tried to use Dynamic Linking both ways but it doesn't the effects don't appear no matter how dramatic I make them. Why couldn't there just be Remove Grain in Premiere Pro so I wouldn't have to go through the headache of figuring this out. I've tried importing the Premiere Pro project into After effects where everything comes up and, since there's so many files, it doesn't seam feasibly or convenient at all. Trying Dynamic Link vice versa didn't lend results either. What can I do??? Projects range from about a half hour to an hour and a half. Thank you.

The situations are well lit; it might be lack of knowledge on the camera settings itself.
Sort that and your workflow issue dissapears instantly.
    There's nothing more efficient?
Yep...read above... but ...any Plugin. eg Neat Video... will take long processing time.
Fixing grain..actually "noise"...is always an image  degrading process as well.  It blurs!

  • Keyframes in Speedgrade with a Premiere Pro project

I'm using Speedgrade to grade clips in a Premiere Pro project.  I'm trying to adjust a primary layer grade across a clip using different keyframes.  It is not working: when I set up a second keyframe, I try to make adjustments to the offset, gamma, and gain in the second keyframe and, while the sliders slide, I'm not seeing any results in either the clip or the scopes.
It's working fine when I create a Speedgrade project.  But it's not working with an imported Premiere Pro project.
I can't find any indication of a bug related to this.  Anyone have any suggestions?

    I've submitted the bug report.
Here's a bit more information about my environment:
    MacOS 10.10.1.
    Macbook Pro Retina (mid 2012)
    2.7 GHz Intel Core I7
    16 GM memory
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
I have some 3rd party plugins installed in Premiere, but none used in the test case.  And in fact I can reproduce the problem with a fresh project by following these steps:
    1. Create a new project in Premiere.
    2. Import a video file.  (The video file is one that I recorded with my Canon 5D mk iii, but the original problem was using files gotten from a GoPro, so that detail doesn't seem to matter.)
    3. Create a new sequence.
    4. Take a 3 second clip from the video file and put it in the sequence.
    5. Take a different 2 second clip from the video file and add it to the sequence.
    6. Use the File/Direct Link to Speedgrade menu option to load the sequence in Speedgrade.
    7. In Speedgrade, select the first clip.  Make changes to the Offset and Gain brightness sliders for that clip.
    8. Select the second clip.  Position the cursor over the first clip and hit "c" to copy the grade changes from the first clip to the second.
    9. Position the read head about midway through the second clip.
    10. Hit the diamond to add a keyframe.
    11. Make changes to the offset and gain brightness sliders at that keyframe.
    12. Hit the keyframe left arrow to move to the initial keyframe in the clip.
    13. Notice that the brightness changes made on the original keyframe show in this keyframe.  This is unexpected behavior.
    14. Attempt to make changes to the offset and gain brightness sliders at this keyframe.  The sliders slide, but there are no changes to the clip itself.  If you bring up the scopes at this point, making changes to the sliders don't change the scope values either.

  • Converting AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.

I have found the way to convert AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.
I use the following line of code:
    app.executeCommand(app.findMenuCommandId("Adobe Premiere Pro Project ..."));
It works. But unfortunately it opens the SaveFileDialog window for the file name to be assigned.
I'd love not to see this window. I'd love to assign the file name programmatically. It would be great!
Is there any way to prevent the dialog window from opening?
    Thank you.

  • Premiere pro project suddenly degraded

My 50-minute Premiere Pro project suddenly degraded between work sessions. It contains mixed footage - mov files the smallest and the sequence settings match that - and dv footage.
It looked perfect, but when it was opened to resume work on another day them image quality had degraded badly. When rendered It plays ok but is degraded in pause. Color correction is now impossible.
    I hope you can help.

For starters, you can't perform a proper color correction using the built in monitors.  They are not designed to show you an accurate image, as you're now discovering.  You MUST get the signal off the computer and onto a properly calibrated TV.  This will ensure you're seeing the signal accurately, which is the first step in color correction.  Trying to remove too much red that was put there by an inaccurate display is an exercise in futility.
Having said that, click the wrench under the Program Monitor and make sure Playback Resolution is set to full.

  • Bringing Premiere Pro project into After Effects

I tried importing Premiere Pro projects to After Effects, but I only got the various files, not the timeline. I just watched a tutorial about Dynamic Link, but when I clicked Adobe Dynamic Link/New After Effects composition in Premiere, I got a layer that was all black, with no sound. I have CS3 Production Premium and Windows XP Media Center SP2.
Right now, I just want to keep what I edited in Premiere, but I get better quality video if I export it to H.264 MOV in After Effects than anything I've found in Premiere. I can't understand why that's so, but until I find something just as good in Premiere, I want to save everything in After Effects.

Create a project and a comp. Copy the timeline from Premiere Pro and paste it into the timeline of After Effects.

  • After Effects export as Premiere Pro project weird PAL/NTSC problem

This post is not a question. It's here, because I've found a solution and want to share with You.
I've noticed a strange problem during export from AE to PR.
    Ok, here I go.
    AE = After Effects CS3
    PR = Premiere Pro CS3
My AE project is D1/DV PAL Widescreen. It is a sequence of slideshow with some video effects applied. I needed that sequence in PR. I was happy to find a new feature - export as premiere pro project (new for me - i am pretty rookie ;). Thaks to this feature I have saved most of my disk space that is always to low. But, like every first try, this one was not perfect too. I had two problems.
    Problem no 1.
I opened exported project in PR and saw message like "video effect AE.CC COMPOSITE not present".
Whole composition was working perfectly except that one video effect that was fundamental for this project.
*Solution was as easy as it can be. I've just copied that effect from AE plugin folder to PR plugin folder. It worked for this.
    Problem no 2
Like says AE Help "When you export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project, Adobe Premiere Pro uses the settings from the first composition in the After Effects project for all subsequent sequences."
Project settings in PR was exactly D1/DV PAL Widescreen. So where is the problem You ask?
Therefore why my Timeline works in NTSC 29,97 frame rate if all settings match PAL 25 frame rate?! I don't know.
*Solution to fix this annoying bug is to create a new project in PR with all settings for D1/DV PAL Widescreen in this case. Than just import that PR project exported from AE. Now timeline works like it should in PAL frame rate.
    That's it.
I hope this post is helpful, because I didn't find any answer for this here in Adobe forum.

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Arbitrary data param not importing from Premiere Pro project into After Effects.

    Hi,
I have an AE SDK plugin effect that works in Premiere Pro and After Effects... the effect has a bunch of standard parameters and one Arbitrary Data parameter.
I believe that the Arbitrary data parameter is implemented correctly, and I have implemented all of the cases for PF_Cmd_ARBITRARY_CALLBACK...
    PF_Arbitrary_NEW_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_DISPOSE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COPY_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_UNFLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_INTERP_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COMPARE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_SCAN_FUNC
The only issue I have found, is that when importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects with the "Import -> Adobe Premiere Pro Project" option, the value in the Arbitrary Data
parameter is always the default. There is no problem saving or re-opening projects within AE or PP... and there are no problems with cutting and pasting instances of the effect.
Importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects using the Dynamic Link works correctly... the Arbitrary data is imported.
    Thanks.

Some kind of answer would be awesome... there are Adobe staff members on here right?
