Premiere Pro with Diamond VC500

Can Premiere Pro capture video from device converter "Diamond VC500"?2

No... that is a USB device, all versions of Premiere (Elements and Pro) only work with a Firewire connection

  • Sending transcoded clip to Premiere Pro with Mono audio

    Hi there,
I noted that others had asked this question around August 2013 but haven't seen any progress made on this issue, which is that we prefer to edit in Premiere pro with mono audio tracks, but we are unable to make transcoded material come over from Prelude with mono audio.
We need to have total control over our audio tracks and for us in a News/ENG environment that also means fast turnaround production.  So we want to choose the part of the XDCAM clip that we want in Prelude, send it to Premiere Pro and put the interview grab (for example) down on track 1 of the Timeline with only talent mike audio (which was recorded on the camera's channel 1) and not have to pan it or worry about doing much else to it.  Then we cut the rest of the overlay with sound effects that were recorded on channel 2 going straight to track 2 on the timeline.  When we transmit it to head office we send them two discrete channels of audio: talent/VO on Track 1 and effects on Track 2.
We only have a problem when Transcoding is involved.  With the audio prefs in PrPro set to "Mono" everything else is fine, its just that when Prelude transcodes a video it makes the audio a hassle for us, because it can only come over to PrPro as a stereo audio track.
Adobe, is there ever going to be the ability to just make a Preference in Prelude to send the clips with Mono audio, as there is in Premiere Pro??
Or has anyone figured this out and I am just missing something?

In Adobe Media Encoder, set up a new preset that has the video and audio settings you want to have your source footage transcoded to:
Then name and save that preset. The next time you launch Prelude, the preset will be an option for you to select to use for transcoding your material.

  • Adobe premiere elements 12 with diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.

Adobe premiere elements 12 and using Diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.
AVI files will not load into Adobe premiere elements 12.
I bought what I thought were the two best software and capture devices.
I am archiving old VHS tapes and using Diamond vc500 capture software called EZ grabber. I thought the best archiving format would be AVI files. As I just started this project. I am willing to do what is needed.
That even being, going and buy another capture device that being for a VCR to PC using a USB are even a Video card.
EZ grabber software ask you to record in what format. I picked AVI. There is DVD - SVCD - VCD - MPG4. I want to archive then go back and edit. The DVD or SVCD format, is that not the same as mpeg 2?
You and I know the drill. Saving in what long term archive format and that dare thing about video compression and losing quality of the videos. Its all a nightmare.
Once again I am willing to buy another capture device for a VCR that will work with Adobe premiere elements 12.
Help please with long term archiving format and capture device.
    Thanks

    The answer is B.
Capturing the VHS content to computer (via the Diamond vc500 and USB connection and EZ grabber) to obtain an .avi file on your computer and then trying to import that into Premiere Elements with its Add Media/Files and Folders?
When I do that, the Adobe premiere elements 12 crashes or only loads a 2 mins of video.
The firewire connection device "Canopus" product sounds great. But I really don't want to spend that much on my home videos. My PC does not have a Firewire connection. So add a new card for that and the Canopus product. I could just pay someone to do my VHS tapes.
    Diamond vc500 $35
    Adobe premiere elements 12 $65
    Firewire card $50 plus
    Canopus $180
$330 is way too much for simple home VHS videos

  • Premiere Pro with Blackmagic Intensity Pro; Importer

I'm using a Blackmagic Intensity Pro with Premiere Pro. I don't Import anything with it directly, i just use it to preview my timeline on a seperate monitor.
The issue I have is when I try to import a AVI-file to my project
before I had the Intensity Pro, Premiere would input the file as a Microsoft AVI and it worked perfectly.
But now the exact same file is imported as a Blackmagic AVI-file. now I am experiencing green bars in my video and the color information is totally screwed up.
So my question is: can I deactivate or change the Import-settings of Premiere, without to remove the Card completely (turn PC off, remove card, turn back on...)?

    Ok, my workflow is:
I'm importing a video file from my hard drive via double-click or drag'n'drop. i don't capture from a video source with the intensity pro!
the specs of the video file according to premiere are:
    Type: Blackmagic AVI File
    File Size: 1,7 GB
    Image Size: 1024 x 768
    Frame Rate: 18,00

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;15;18;28
Average Data Rate: 1,9 MB / second

    Interleave: 1 : 1.00 (conforming required)
    Video Track 1:
Size is 1.49G bytes (average frame = 94.18K bytes)
    There are 16541 keyframes.
    Frame rate is: 18.0000 fps

I've tried importing the video file at a friend's pc with premiere pro 5.5 and there the file works just fine. so I'm assuming that it has to do with the intensity pro...
It has the same properties execpt under Type there is "Microsoft AVI File" and everything beneath Pixel Aspect Ratio isn't there.

  • Exporting in Premiere Pro with a GTX 980 CUDA takes 4 hours

Okay, this problem has been plaguing me ever since I upgraded to a new PC with some very high end hardware. I'm trying to export a 25 minute h.264 encoded mp4 file from an AVI video and PCM audio source, however, exporting it using YouTube 1080p preset takes over 4 hours. This used to never happen before, even on my old laptop which had a GTX 675M card and would take 1.5 hours at most.
The source files I use through video capture is AVI with MPEG-1(VBR) 1920x1080 resolution with 29.97 frames/second. The audio source is PCM WAV 48.0KHz stereo.
The preset I have for exporting in Premiere Pro/AME CC 2014 is:
video: h.264 format, 1.0 square pixel, 29.97 frames/second, Progressive scan
    bitrate: VBR(1 pass), target/max: 8.0 Mbps
    audio: AAC 192kbps, 48kHz stereo
The hardware I am using is a Gigabyte x99 ud-4 motherboard with G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz RAM, i7-5820K CPU 3.30 GHz, Windows 7 64bit OS, with an Nvidia GTX 980 card with CUDA enabled in both Premiere and the Nvidia Control Panel. Yet, I am still getting over 4 hours rendering time during my exports for a 20-30min video source? I  am completely stumped on this and it's unbelievably frustrating to see my top of the line system take so long to render this file when my 2-3 year old laptop did the export in 1/3rd of that time? I do this as a hobbyist and any help on trying to get this fixed would be a major help to me. Thank you in advance!

    Hmmm...
I did a quick test in your behalf with a test project with and without "alpha glow" applied to all of the media.
The results were actually kind of strange:
    - export to .mp4 utilized all cores (6-core box w/ Hyperthreads) with a smooth 82% utilization for the whole export; memory usage (also from task manager) went up and once it hit a maximum, it stayed there
    - export to .mp4 with "alpha glow" applied -> CPU usage started out pretty good, then memory usage maxed out and then actually cam down; after a bit, the CPU usage stabilized at around 22%, or about 25% of what it had been at the start of the export
Smells to me like an Adobe bug or design-flaw.
Anyway, good luck with your testing.
I totally agree with Bill's suggest to do a full PPBM7 test on your new rig and report the scores back here - and to the PPBM7 site of course. This will help you to have confidence in your new hardware and setup. Once your hardware and configuration (for Win7, drive caching, Premiere settings, etc.) are working fine, then your particular workflow, etc. can be a separate troubleshooting step.
    Good luck!

  • Coordinating Premiere Pro with Audition

I have a video I'm editing. I've completely thrown out the camera sound track and I'm creating the audio from scratch from various sound clips. In some cases I want to coordinate the editing of my video clips with the sound track, and in other places I want to coordinate the sound (e.g. foley) with the video. Can anyone suggest a work flow for this?

Even though it is called "Speech Alignment," I've successfully used this in foley to match up my foley footsteps (and other sounds) with what was from the on-set sound.

  • How can I sync up my clip in Premiere Pro with the After Effects Comp I replace it with? How do I link them?

I am having some issues seeing a tracked mask work correctly in Premiere Pro. I clicked on my clip in my Premiere pro project and hit "replace with after effects comp". After correctly masking out everything in AE and tracking it to perfection, I clicked save and went back to my Premiere project. However when I view the new "linked" clip in my project it has dropped frames. The mask seems to track correctly but the dropped frames are an issue. Does anyone know how I could fix this?
    Thanks,
    Ajnies

When I return to the linked clip in my Premiere project, it does not contain every single frame of the original after it has been replaced by the AE comp. It skips about every other frame. I am doing a stop motion animation so this is highly noticeable.

  • Long Rendering Time in Premiere Pro with Yosemite

The rendering time with Yosemite and Premiere Pro CC 2014 is stating hours for a 17  minute video (regardless of small or large file) I recently upgraded to Yosemite (mid project like a dodo-newbie to the editing world).  I also recently installed a Neat video plug in.  Don't know if that has anything to do with it.  Should I revert back to Mavericks?  Or is there something I can do?

I'M having the same problem, though it's inconsistent.  When I first encoutered the issue it was a simple fix of switching to the Cuda renderer from the open CL/Cuda that is automatically selected.  That little honeymoon lasted a week or so, but now I'll have 4 or 5 clips varying in length from 30 to 120 minutes and invariably one or more will get hung up and require many hours to export.
Also in the norning after a night of exporting, the ME will indicate the clip was successfully exported, but when the files are checked one or more will not be properly exported.  Generally if I try again the clip will export properly and in a decent amount of time, but sometimes it takes seveeral attempts.
Add to that that I get dropped frame choppy playback about 70% of the time it becomes a very frustrating program to use professionally.  My drive speeds are good at well over 120Mbs for read and write and this is only 1080/30P material.
Tried tech support via phone, which was a joke, even though I have received excellent support in the past this episode was not so.  Tech didn't even give me a case number, and I forgot to request one as well, but after remote linking to my machine for an hour in which he was most of the time off the phone, he came back on said he would watch my machine, but was now hanging up.
Clearly there are issues with this release.  The previous release worked fine.  I just now need to figure out how to go back to the previous version.

  • No sound in Premiere Pro with .mts files

  • Nightmare recording audio into premiere pro with Mbox 2 Mini  Mac OSX

I've adjusted buffer settings, power settings, and so on, not to mention watched two Premiere Pro tutorials on recording audio directly into Premiere that barely still apply, but adobe finds relevant enough to suggest.  I am using a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini and an ElectroVoice RE20 Microphone.  If I'm lucky I get a clean track of audio for about 45 seconds before the audio begins to pop and crack.  In reading on Avid's forums this is due to a buffer issue, but I've since changed my buffer to every setting and still keep wasting time.  Does anyone have any experience recording directly into premiere pro cc 2014?, Anyone with an Mbox 2 Mini?, Do you have an audio box that seems to work perfectly with CC 2014?  If you have any insight on any of those questions, please comment below.
I've tried everything I could find and read about online, but at this point I have to give up before I waste anymore time.  I've switched usb ports, maybe is a USB 3.0 with 2.0 device?, I switched power locations, plugs, protectors, and so on, even USB cables.... blahhh
    Specs:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
2012 Macbook Pro (Non-Retina), 16GB of Ram, dual internal SSD, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    OSX 10.8.5
Mbox 2 Mini, Firmware 1.4, latest drivers.

    Hi AbzZilla,
I was looking up this post and found you've a similar problem...
I was having the non-responsiveness with the above configurations in 'LE 7.4 & 7.4.2c (Mac-only), but I have now installed Pro Tools LE 8.
Unfortunately I still can't get the MBOX2 to work with the Mac mini 2, but the MBOX2 USB status alights now [i.e. it's very bright and now works] on the MBP 17" ...all with Mac OS X 10.5.6! In all previous Pro Tools versions it confirms support for Pro Tools and the MBox, with the Mac mini:
    http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/osx/os.cfm
So I too am 'stumped' as this is the brand new computer that I wanted the software to be operable on. I've swapped the USB cables (to check if it was a failed cable) and it looks like either a firmware clash or a USB-port power issue? I've also tried non-powered USB hubs... as it could be the later issue? So when I find my powered USB hub I'll let you know, ...if there's a change?
Until then... I Iook forward to further posts in this thread!
    Thanks for kicking-off the discussion.

  • Setting Premiere Pro with Black Magic extreme Tunderbolt/HDMI

Normally I work with Avid but, like everybody else, I think Premiere Pro holds the future. So I am working on that.
Question is, I have a Black Magic Extreme with Thunderbolt connected through my Pegegasus raid system. With Avid it works BUT with Premiere Pro it doesn't. So what am I doing wrong?

  • Activate template (unlocked text layers editable in Premiere Pro) with a script?

    Hello,
How to activate in the composition settings the template option (unlocked text layers éditable in Première Pro) with à script?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards.

    Try resetting your preferences.
Easiest way I know is just delete the entire Preferences folder. Make sure PP and AME are both closed.
If you have workspaces you want to save - not have to rebuild - then drag the entire Prefs folder out of Program Files.
When you restart PP it will build a new prefs folder. You can then - one by one - import the saved workspaces from your old Prefs folder (and whatever else you want).

  • AVCHD to Premiere Pro with TMPGenc -- Media Pending--Forever!

After much searching for a conversion solution that didn't
utterly destroy the picture quality, I settled on TMPGenc 4 as a converter to make MPEG2 files at a comparable bitrate to XDCam EX, which is our native camera.. one of the four cameras we use on orchestra shoots is the Canon HF S200 (it's the only one that fits on the 11" micro tripod that fits on a 8" deep nook in the orchestra shell). We use this camera for the fixed, locked off conductor face shots.
So, I converted the AVCHD file from the Canon camera to MPEG2 35Mb/S. It plays fine in Bridge, but when I import it into Premiere CS3, it does nothing. No indexing, nothing. Clip displays "Media Pending".. geeze, I remember this problem from HDV days.. one of the reasons I dumped HDV was this Media Pending problem that would cause missed deadlines.
The video clip specs (short test clip from camera 4):
    File Path: F:\Project_2\Movie_00_(00026).mpg
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 24.6 MB
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 1920
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;00;08;29
Average Data Rate: 2.7 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
In addition to no video, there's no audio either.. the audio portion is on the timeline, but it's flatline. Clicking on Normalize, it will boost the level to 96dB, which is an indication of no audio present in the data.
Remember, the clip plays fine in Bridge.
I really, really HATE AVCHD. Nothing but problems. But this is the only camera that fits and can do 24P like the XDCam cameras used elsewhere in the concert hall.. any ideas how to make this Media Pending go away?

I'm on CS3 (mentioned that in the 2nd paragraph of original post) and it says that the AVCH
D camera file is a bad or corrupt file. I can't do anything with AVCHD files.. frankly I don't know why camera manufacturers upset the boat with these crazy new formats.. the world should just be on XDCam EX format like Panasonic and Sony and be done with it.
So I converted it in TMPGenc 4 and got a MPEG2 file out of that which is of good quality. The only problem is that I'm back to the headaches I had with HDV, which is that the video never appears--just that yellow "Media Pending" for the entire clip. I sold my HDV cams because I was missing deadlines trying to troubleshoot that problem frequently, turning 30 minute editing jobs into a multi-day oddyssey of tech support calls, research and hacking the CODECs to get around that problem.
Quicktime works without the Media Pending problem, but a short clip balloons to several gigabytes. I have to deal with a 3 hour clip next week, so I don't think my 1TB drive can hold that much in QuickTime Photo JPEG format.
These are program streams, multiplexed. 1920x1080, 23.976fps, high profile MPEG, 10-bit DCT and high quality motion search. Audio is PCM. Trying to make this mesh smoothly with XDCam footage.

  • Problems exporting Premiere Pro with SWFs in as .mov files.

    Hi,
I'm not the most competent with Premiere and am having a few problems exporting my final movie.
I am having problems with an animation (Screen size: 1024 x 576) I am producing; I've produced all the animation in Flash then exported the files as SWFS, and want to composite it in Premiere and export it as Quicktime Movie (H.264), as this seems to give the best image quality for the final movie. All the SWFs export from Flash and import into Premiere fine, and in the main the SWFs export fine from Premiere, however a few of the SWFs don't export into the final finished movie, leaving just a blank screen, and others only partially export, either stopping halfway through the shot or exporting with some of the layers from the SWF missing. I've tried re importing the files but I still encounter the same problems.
Can anyone shed any light onto where I may be going wrong and what I can do to get the entire movie to export fully? Or if there is a better way of exporting the files from Flash to a final finished movie?
If you need any other information let me know,
    Many thanks
    Josh
